It's shockingly refreshing to see this Mario design standing in place in a pose that doesn't require dislocating his shoulders and giving himself whiplash.

The pipes in 7-3 and 8-1 became non-working due to glitches I didn't really like...

Just out of curiosity, why did you change Mario's palette? Most of the art changes were pretty cool, but that one didn't make much sense.

Love how Kosmic basically has total control over Mario 1. Even when trolled or otherwise gets stuffed into a softlock he just clips through the wall and keeps going lol

Normally when I see hacks like this, they seem amateur and messy, but this one is actually genuinely charming!
You can tell that they wanted to make a somewhat hard, but still fun rom hack, with all of the 1-Up opportunities and everything

@@Kosmicd12 You were "lucky" and got the Star just when the Star began to leap, so its upward Y speed was kept for the 1-UP mushroom. Feel free to test it in 1-1. :)

I love how this hack mixes fun and troll moments so effortlessly
I really like the new enemy/player sprites, and even more so the finely detailed clouds. When it comes to level design it seems all over the place, with some good ideas, and some janky stuff.
The soundtrack sounds really Konami-ish haha. Awesome looking hack for sure; the changing color palette really reminds me of Astrosmash of all things
I love the music in some of these stages, but it also makes me deeply anxious

Watch the coin video cuz I think he said it was frame based. Like there’s a timer that has to count down before obtaining another coin.. if you hit it too quickly it won’t register
@@nugboy420 yea, even on land, like in 1-1, you have to wait a frame or two between jumps to get a coin every jump iirc.

my assumption based PURELY on speculation is that originally the SMB1 devs wanted to have the screen flash whenever you took damage, but in the end decided against it. and rather than fully removing it, they just have the game load the level type's BG color. which might explain why some hacks and glitch levels have this effect, as the BG is initially set to the "wrong" color according to the level type
Mario's sprite is colored using the first color pallette. When setting this palette, it also will set the background color. As you point out, this glitch only happens when the background color has been set to the "wrong" color. In this case, the game doesn't know that the background color has been changed so when it goes to change the mario pallette from fire mario to regular mario, it ends up changing the background color too

theres actually two other hidden blocks in the same row as the 1st hidden block, one is far enough left to allow you to jump and run on the top of the screen

That was a good rom hack. I really liked the art refresh and the unique level designs. Plus it didn't look impossible for SMB fans like me who aren't great at all the tricks.

Wacky hack, nice spritework and level design. I suppose the trolling is harmless enough considering all of the 1-Up opportunities they give you, as well as plentiful coins and powerups. Being unique and fun is what matters most in the end anyway.

Fun Fact! There is a Lakitu in at least two levels but are in Hard Mode, specifically. One was removed in the normal difficulty in 4-3, however, but it was there on previous versions.

1:30 Playing Lost Levels, I found that in the first three or four worlds, Mario is much better, because Luigi's floatiness and weird momentum messes you up a lot, as does bonking on low castle ceilings. Later worlds, Luigi is better because there are trolly jumps with big distances and heights.

Highly entertaining, and very superior play. Thanks for posting! However, the last few videos of yours seem to have been a bit too heavily edited. They have too many cuts, and in places that they don't necessarily make a lot of sense. I understand that you're trying to trim content that doesn't have anything important in it, but sometimes it's jarring. For example, this video sometimes cuts when I find myself curious about what a particular pipe or ? block contains. At one part late in the video, you hit a block to uncover a 1-UP mushroom, and the video cut away before Mario collected it. I appreciate that we are seeing the interesting parts, but we don't need to see ONLY the most ABSOLUTELY compelling parts either. Fellow gamers will understand that not every second of every game is riveting, and the rise and fall of action can be just as "interesting" as the fanciest moves and strategies. Too many cuts definitely will eventually deprive the viewer of the entertainment potential. Still, it's a great video. Yours is an unbelievable talent, so thanks for sharing it with everyone.

@@pewpewmaster1 Exactly, and those videos proceed TOO slowly, at least when I'm in the mood to watch something a bit more fast-paced. My point here is that Kosmic's videos are just somewhat too heavily edited on THIS channel. I'm perfectly fine with some light editing, but some parts of these videos seem to have awfully frequent cuts.
