Nice comparison! I saw quite the same differences when I tried it during a karting session: yes, hypersmooth is great but not awesome but colors are really better.

Hi, I jjust got a Hero 7 Black and am taking it on a dive trip to the Red Sea. I have also gotten a Red filter for my Super Suit housing (a set of Flip Filters is definitely on my Xmas list!!) I have read in some of the Hero 6/7 blogs that with the new Hero 6/ 7 with the improved Auto White Balance, and the addition of Global Tone Mapping, that a Red filter is no longer required! If I use the Red filter will it have any adverse effect on my videos?
Also I am new to using the GoPro. What settings/ advanced settings - ProColor etc, would you suggest? Great videos.

Do I need a special filter lens when shooting in murky water? I took the Go Pro 2 with me to Hawaii and it did not do well at all. Outside of the super suit and the selfie stick, what other accessories do you recommend purchasing to go with the Hero 7?

Buy the way: i just tested the camera within the super suit housing in a swimming pool and I hear a strange contineous sound on the video like if you can hear the ‘cameramotor’ pretty loud during the whole video. I never heard that with a Hero 4 silver in a dive house. Does anybody experienced the same issue and/or Is that normal with the Hero 7 Black in combination with the super suit housing?

About the limitation if you like to do some underwater macro photography which I plan to do in Indonesia with this camera, housing and a Polarpro switchblade (with macrolens) which I just bought for this purpose: So I understand the only way is to set the zoom before diving and not change mode or switch the camera off during the dive, right?
If so that’s really annoying.... (@Gopro: where can I complain ?? 🤨)

The Hero 7 Black is my first go pro. I have the super suit and red lens. I'm going diving in Mexico next week. Can I switch from hyperlapse to regular speed while under water? Most of the dive is getting to a subject so I want to speed up the swimming part and slow down at a subject. Can software do this later?
I dont have a gopro but I know you can speed up footage in most video editing programs. I use Adobe Premiere and am able to speed specific footage up or even slow it down.
Was wondering, is there an extra wide lens zoom you can add to the "super suit" for UW action ? Does that even exist ?
The field of view captured by the camera is pretty much as wide as you can go. There is really no way to achieve zoom when the camera is in the housing unless narrowing the field of view. There are domes for shooting split shots and things like that. Feel free to give us a call or send us an email and we can go into more detail with you.
One gripe I've heard is the wifi disabling or having issues for monitoring on a phone while shooting underwater, but I figure you're going to be going off the GP screen in that case, anyway, correct?
That is correct. Can't really use a phone as a monitor when underwater :)
Can you use the standard go pro filters for diving with the super suit?
@Susan Conner If you have a GoPro 5 or 6, you can use all accessories with the new GoPro 7. This is a real advantage.
I think no. Indeed, filters for super suit are not the same and you clip them directly on the super suit.
On your website I only can find the flip filter with one filter... Where do I find the model with 2 filters?

how do you make your camera not fogging... mine always fogging when shooting underwater... make my footage looks blur...
Try putting Silica gel packet inside your camera housing.

If you don't want to damage your camera in the water then you should definitely use the dive housing. Using the camera in the water without a housing will definitely add to the wear and tear faster than topside use.

Hi I have and issue My gopro 5 shows a black mark on the screen starting at 18 to 20 mts. This means the cover is touching the screen, is normal I don’t go more deep than 22 mts because of this, any solution?

How do you feel about the Gopro 8 and 9? I do all my video in 40-60ft of ocean diving and can't decide between the 7,8 or 9.
They are all great options, with each newer model offering more stability than the last.
So is the GoPro hero 7 black waterproof without needing a case?? Or do I need a waterproof case to take it underwater
The camera is only waterproof to 30 feet. We always recommend using a housing for reduced wear and tear and less chance of damage to your camera, plus the ability to mount Flip Filters.

My biggest question I can’t find an answer to is my view screen goes off after a short period of time underwater like 1 min!!! I can’t find anywhere in the settings to set this so the view screen stays on!! Please help!!!
That's just the screensaver setting in the preferences menu. Give us a call or send us an email if you need help with it.
Is the go pro 7 waterproof for sea water? I had one and took it snorkelling I definitely was not going below 10ms and it crapped out on me. It's since been replaced by go pro but now I am scared to go back in the water with it without a case
They are waterproof, but we always recommend using a housing when taking it in the water.
Can I swim also whitout a super suit housing for just in a pool

Typical underwater photography requires a white balance at depth after you've added a filter. How does the Hero 7 Black do when adding a filter after not having one? How do you reset the white balance?
White balance is always automatic on the GoPro. It adjust very well and quickly when adding a filter.
How much for hero 7?
I bought a micromate mini for my dive trip and the lens fogged up from the inside and will not unfog itself. Ruined my trip.

Just wondering if you know. Why GoPro hero black 7 does gives only 30 FPS underwater even set to 60 FPS?
It's because you have Auto Low Light turned on. That setting will limit FPS if the scene is too dark.
@@backscatteruw OMG, Legend! However, I am using underwater high intensity LED lights and scene are not dark at all, wondering how much light it will require, anyway thanks a lot. I will try a few trials with "Auto Low Light" turned off.

gbthrylos more as a precautionary measure, I’ve had bad experiences without one so just air on the side of caution. A $50 attachment seems expensive now, but it’s a lot better than a $400 camera because GoPro dosent cover that kind of damage

Cool review! To me the Hero 7 is only marginally better than the Hero 6 when it comes to underwater filming, especially now seeing the side by side comparison. People focus too much on the tech. I’d take any day a movie with a cool epic storyline shot on literally anything than a daft movie with eye candy all over. I don’t see the inability to change the FOV to ‘narrow’ as a big deal. It’s only digital zoom. Same as zooming in post, if you’re a good filmmaker that’s not gonna be the lacking feature that throws you off. My pledge to the filmmakers out there - focus on the storytelling people, not the colour grading! Too few videos out there that really touch the soul!
What about underwater test without case? It is possible to use camera without case?
Only to it's 33ft depth rating. You will also not be able to mount a FLIP filter for color correction.

@@JFAMILY1 You ALWAYS have to clean everything with fresh water after diving, even the super suit. Sometimes, without the super suit, you will have some issues with the microphone due to salt and you will have to clean again your camera. For that reason, it's better to use the super suit and it is easier to wash the suit than the camera itself. I use it to do all my videos, as this protection is also great against shocks, dust, etc.

How shaky would the footage from your action camera if you held it with your hands and strapped to my hand.
Significantly shakier than if the camera is mounted on a double handle tray held with two hands.
