The video is a little disjointed as I had to figure out how to disassemble it, but we got there in the end!

I’m not really sure why cyma has went with the plastic spring guide as their AK gearboxs have a bearing one
I didn't think much about it at the time, but for something that people will be wanting high performance out of, you are completely only the money, and for the sake of a few pennies more as well. Miss opportunity! Pheas

Great video mate! Only two things you missed tho. The cylinder head is non standard and the front of the gearbox has its nozzle opening offset. Looks like M14 or a P90 head.
Well spotted. I didn't even notice. It is offset. Funny that it takes an AK hope still.. suppose the whole system has been jigged about a but. Pheas
What cylinder head is it tho ? (Asking because if it breaks or i want to change it)
Might be a candidate for some barrel spacers to keep down vibration and make shots more consistent.
That is a good suggestion! I will see if I can measure the diameter to see if I can find some to fit. Pheas
@@PheasAirsoft not sure if your still after them, but I have .stl files for 3D printing spacers to fit this gun in specific as it was my initial concern with the barrel

Great video and great review, I was pondering about buying this off Taiwangun sometime ago because of corridor voices on bad internals, and it seems they were quite correct about it!
It's a shame CYMA put so many cheap pieces in the gearbox, seeing how good the AK ones are at the moment.
I just got this rifle a day or two ago and so far the only issue I had with it is that the pin that holds the mag release can easily fall off
hey 2 years later and i just got one from a trade, mid game the mag release broke and i dont know how to fix it. did you ever find anything about it?

Litle question, because i do not understood how, but do you NEED to remove the silencer to remove the hop up unit and the barrel ? I want to glue the silencer to the body of the replica, and i wanted to know if it was possible to do it without having problems later with my hop up unit, thank you😁

How do you think Pheas is it possible to screw pistol grip in from LCT AS Val to it? Foldable stock from lct as val would match to this vss cyma? I guess mounting type is different and stock from as val will not match.
Hello! I honestly couldn't say for definite... But would a guess that you cannot, I think the style of build is different. Too different to make it work
HI again. I've decided to buy this replica instead of the CYMA Plat AR-47 cause I like the look of it... I am new to airsoft so please tell me if you recommend otherwise. But, I am mainly a backyard plinker but I still want a good gun for th eprice im paying so in your unbaised opinon, Is the gun worth it? Like the internals and such
Hiya. Honestly. It's very good for the money. The only longer term issue I can see... Is the gearbox shell, even though it's a version 3 based gearbox, the way the selector sits onto the gearbox shell is different to normal. So if the shell breaks you might have a hard time getting a replacement. They said, it's unlikely to break and even out if the box it's excellent quality. Pheas
@@PheasAirsoft Okay thanks and since it doesn't have a mosfet do you think I need to install one? I've never opened a gun up before so even if I did I probably couldn't but i might think of getting the CYMA PLATINUM again. But with a 7.4 if you didn't have any p[roblems where you needed or wanted a mosfet then i'll stay with this gun. SOrry haha im indecisive
@@maxkim3082 Hiya, honestly... its completely down to you and your budget. Yes a mosfet would offer more features (especially a good one like the titan) but its a lot of money for those featues... are you going to use those features?? as that is how I would decide what I would be getting the mosfet or not. It will run fine without one, but would be better with one. Pheas

Do you know what is the tapet plate, sir? Is it something special or regular v3 tapet plate because we know that cylinder head is v7?

I don't know for certain. It's an odd one this as it has an offset nozzle , not centered like a normal ak style gearbox. Pheas

Hello amazing video! i have one question the VSS has gearbox v3 modified, and i want to ask how modified is it, because i would like to buy it and upgrade it, but I'm a little skeptical about that gearbox v3 modified and i ain't really sure what upgrade parts would be ok and which might be a potentially big problem

Hello! the selector is off spec and uses an M14 style cylinder head if I remember correctly. so the shell is certainly off spec! Pheas

What sort of barrel spacers would this take? And wht compatibility is the piston assembly?
Hiya. Barrel spacers I have no idea on. But piston assembly is just standard v2/v3 type. Hope that helps. Pheas

Im thinking of overhauling the internals with new bearings, new piston assembly, gears and a titan mosfet. All in all a burst-dmr :^)
But what I’m unsure of are if the motor is a slim, long type or not, what sort of shims would be the best and what the weird gears on the outside of the gearbox are. Never seen those before, and if its something That could be upgraded.
@@aandersson650 I believe the nozzle is offset so it's not a typical cylinder head, the shell is V3 based but off spec for the selector, I think after that it's bog standard v3. Pheas
The cylinder head for this aeg is the same type of cylinder head for m14 ?
It looks very similar to an M14 type, not 100% if they would be compatible or if this is a unique part. Sorry I can't be more help! Pheas
Can a motor be mounted without taking the gearbox itself apart ?
What engine was on this, short or long ?
Hiya, the motor is in a cage attached to the gearbox, so you can take just the cage off, swap the motor in the cage and replace. It requires a short shaft motor. Pheas

Hiya. the only thing I could think of would be to contact someone like taiwan gun as I am sure they would be able to source you a selector cam for it specifically, I don't think I have ever seen a broken selector cam on an AK before, so I wouldn't expect it to break any time soon! Is this an AY body with cyma gb or did cyma make it themselves? Quite a few people on reddit and saying it's just AY external which are not good?
Its AY all the way, the body is built of aluminium, its ok quality but the scope mounts can break easly if you drop it with a pso scope on it

@@LJ-fr1ze you are more than welcome. Not sure / can't remember if the hop unit is standard ak type. So you might be limited, just not prowin though if it is standard. As for the rubber... Maple Leaf MR 2022 rubber and omega nub . Pheas
would this be compatible with ak pisol grips and stocks?
Hello! it is not, at least not without heavy modification of stocks as there is not really an appropriate back bracket to hold one on. Pheas

Hiya. It's based on a version 3 gearbox but some of the externals of the casing are proprietary so the shell would need to be kept. Hope that helps! Pheas

@@hurvinekspejbl6229 At the moment... yes. It will be possible to bodge together something from a normal V3 shell, but the included standard shell looks really strong as it is so I would have thought you should be ok. I wonder in Taiwan Gun can source the shells for this sort of situation. Pheas

Would it be possible to put a hpa engine in it?
Hello! In theory, if there is a "version 3" gearbox version of an hpa engine then you should be all good to do it, might need some modding to get the feedline in though. Pheas

Hey pheas me again. I have made my decision thanks to my buddies and Cards32 (an american airsoft youtuber) who helped me on reddit, to buy the CM.040J (Idk why it isn't listed on Taiwan Gun but) This is a video about it ua-cam.com/video/jKm6xd-97TA/v-deo.html (its the top gun) and at 4:46 in the video you can see it's gearbox. Is that 6 year old ghearbox the same as this one ,the new Cyma standard v3 gearboxs just with different paint? ua-cam.com/video/ruWEOi5V6RQ/v-deo.html this is another video by the same user on the gun but he upgraded his in this video.
Hiya! Nice choice!! I would expect that the gearbox in the one you have ( should) come with the new blue parts and potentially coated in black, but may look like the one in the video. either way they are still solid gearboxes! Pheas
