Another very helpful video. I'm a coffee drinker and I used to be a tea drinker. I'm trying now to have one cup of coffee and 3 cups of tea. Along with copious amounts of water. Consequently I can never leave home. Thanks docs. 😊
Finally I am doing something right ! Green tea, Black tea, cold tea, hot tea, but absolutely no sugar in my tea. I am from the Midwest US and we drink unsweetened tea and the south loves their sweet tea.
I just brewed a cup of decaf green tea. When I heard that it can lower LDL and improve athletic performance, I’m in! I’m 63, run regularly and eat healthy but my cholesterol is too high. I’ve been eating oatmeal for breakfast for months and that’s helped! Thanks for good info that isn’t selling me something!
Never drank tea until I turned 50 and was having struggles with menopause. My GP Doctor suggested green tea as a calming drink. I loved it instantly. Sadly, though, it tends now to relax my stomach valve and I have issues with a hiatal hernia and GERD. I limit when and how much I drink it but I still enjoy it. Quit coffee 40 years ago and never looked back.
I lived in England for 3 years back in the '70s and that really increased my tea drinking. Made me a real tea lover! So hey, will you guys do one on coffee?
Hi Docs! I've been drinking a cup of black tea every morning for many years now. (Many)😁 I don't like green tea. But, just for it's benefits, I've started throwing a bag of it in my mug along with my black tea, and it's actually making me feel better. As long as I can feel a difference, I'll keep drinking it. Thanks for another great video! You guys are the best!! 💜
Just found out I’ve got high ldl cholesterol and have read about this. I hate the flavour of green tea but need to start drinking it. My garlic intake is actually quite high. I stink… and need to go to the bathroom a lot (green tea strikes again…) My mum will never get cancer at this point, she drinks at least 10 cups a day, we call her highlander… Another amazing video, everyone should watch you guys, you’ve helped a cynical Brit become a fan…
Well you certainly validated my behavior, as the only beverage I have is green tea. Later I started grated fresh ginger into it. Drinking a minimum of 4 8oz cups every day. Now 78 and trying to keep very active hopefully until 100, coupled with a diet mainly of brown rice, beans, fresh vegetables, sea weed fish and fermented foods. Thank you for your valuable tutorial.
Pot of green tea every day. First cup, 1 tblsp lemon juice, 1 tblsp ginger juice, stevia. I juice a few pounds each of organic lemons and ginger then freeze in cubes.
I love you guys. I drink oolong teas, also called "brown" tea because it's green tea just slightly oxidated. But you didn't mention that. With Oolong I can still get my Earl Grey taste without all the oxalates found in black tea that cause my calcium oxalate kidney stones. Any thoughts on this my wonderful doctors?
I discovered the benefits of green tea a couple of years ago. I drink 2-3 cups daily and have grown to enjoy the experience greatly. Thanks for confirming what I thought I knew about the benefits. Definite no raised pinkie however.
Love the video! I switched to green tea ( a mug a day at teatime) around 20 years ago and am now a tea lover! Here in Germany there are many tea stores with loose leaf teas. Wonderful! I also discovered white tea. I think it's similar to green tea. Greetings from a fellow Canadian now living in Germany. I really enjoy your videos! Canadian humour 😅
Love green tea! It was an acquired taste because I drank black tea all my life (sweetened), but now I'm a believer, especially after watching your informative video. Green tea it is! No sugar, but with a hint of lemon.
When I lived in the Netherlands, a place where coffee reigns supreme, I found a shop that sold a LOT of loose leaf tea. I grew up drinking tea, but I thought all tea was black tea. The store in the Netherlands sold tea from around the world! Did you know there is a variety that’s naturally caffeine free? It was so much fun to experiment. 😊
I usually have 2 mugs of Tea in afternoon and evening. I often add herbs - dried Hibiscus, which gives a deep red color and is very high in Vitamin C - or Peppermint and Ginger. And fresh Lemon Juice. And a bit of Raw Honey or Raw Sugar.
My Boss is ninety four and he drinks tea three times a day and he is so healthy no dimenshia, no diabetes, no high blood pressure. He orders everything he needs on Amazon himself. He always says that the tea helps him.
People that want something other than black tea but don't like the taste of green tea might like to try Darjeeling tea as a good compromise. It is a black tea but has little tannin in it and so has a very mild flavour no matter how long you brew it for.
I love tea Earl Gray, I brew ginger tea with ginger root and mix that with green tea after it steeps Cut up ginger root. Boil it. Let it sit. Then pour it in a container and put it in the refrigerator to store it or drink it warm. You can drink ginger tea plain or with honey and lemon 🍋 or sugar
For over 60 years I have consumed a large glass of home-made iced tea (Liptons, black), with lemon, no sugar. I can't prove it's allowed me to remain in good health, but this video has boosted my confidence. I may even experiment with green tea.
Question: My friend told me that green tea can cause heart palpatations. Is this true? I have A-fib and would love to drink green tea, but this has me concerned. Please respond. Thank you! I love your channel and the two of you great docs!!
I like hot tea in the winter but since Texas has about 10 months of summer, I drink iced tea most of the time. I've had hot tea at Victoria Station and I enjoy drinking it hot. But the temperature of the tea depends on the temperature of the weather and it's never cold enough for me to drink hot tea. I enjoy a morning cup of coffee but with an endless summer, I don't drink it every day. I've tried green tea but haven't found one that I like as well as black tea. The one time you really want the tannins is after a tooth extraction if the bleeding won't stop. Biting down on a wet tea bag will stop the bleeding. And it's the tannins in the tea that does it. What's a few tannins when you're bleeding! I love how you're giving us benefits of foods and drinks! They say we are what we eat! Now I just picture Dr Zalzal as a giant chicken wing!😂 I guess that would make Dr Weening a giant leaf of kale!😉 The benefit of watching you two is how you make learning fun! And you don't just talk about medication and procedures, you talk about everything that affects us and you give us a good laugh! They say laughter is the best medicine and you are proving that in every video! Thanks for the information and thanks for the laughs!👍
I love unsweetened iced tea. I used to drink coffee in the morning and it would spike my blood sugar (I don't eat breakfast to have a longer fasting period) Now I make iced tea. No spikes! Also in the afternoon I'll have a peach infused tea and or a mint green tea. Love it. So refreshing! Thanks Docs! Love hearing more about the studies and what I can do to make small changes! Like waiting a few minutes after I crush garlic before i use it.
Both of you are so much fun to watch, and you constantly in form us. Confirming the reasons for drinking green tea. Thanks again for the information. ❤❤❤
Having lived in England for 15 years, I became an ardent tea drinker. Twinings, Fortnum & Mason and others - but I LOVE good, old, PGTips every day. ‘Builders’ Tea’!😅 I have a large mug of it instead of coffee. (sssh . . . with creamer and honey).😋 Love your videos!! 🙋♀️🇺🇸🥰‼️
Hey Docs! Thanks for the tea-rrific video! I like to start my morning with a big 16oz mug of green tea w/ a teaspoon of honey. Sometimes I'll add a little ginger, too.
I drink hot tea in the warmer months in the morning and evening, with iced tea during the day. I always have a gallon of tea made in the refrigerator. I drink hot tea all day long in the winter. Love experimenting with different kinds. I was sipping a cup as I watched the video. Really enjoy your videos.
Another great health topic. Thank you, both. Regarding the anti-inflammatory properties of green tea. It really helps with the osteoarthritis pain in my knees. A very noticeable reduction in pain. I did NOT get that same effect with black tea.
Daily green tea drinker, ie 12 daily, I get a boost for my endurance exercise, also my mood is calmer, alert. My aches seem to ease. Also a tsp of Matcha daily. I also find it cancels my craving for something sweet early in the day. But I do have some fruit with another strong green tea in the afternoon.
This is awesome!! I now only order my loose leaf teas right from Japan. I use the company Neoteas to order. I am trying to move from coffee to green tea
As for how to take it, I have learned to mix a whole bunch of mint with one litter of juice to calm my stomach and get a much stronger effect. I would consider mixing green tea leaves with smoothie or so
I've been drinking 3-4 cups of tea each day for over 40 years (I'm now 81), and have always been told my cholesterol is great. I only drink loose tea, so no tea bags. I love Darjeeling, but also like green tea in the afternoon.
I love my morning 2-3 cups of green tea. The organic green tea I've been buying for many years comes in a non-paper tea bag. I'm now a bit worried because my tea comes in that non-paper little bag, which looks like nylon. Thank you for the tea bag safety information. Will switch to paper. Thank you for this one and all your other helpful videos!
You might still be ok. The bags could be corn starch, but look and feel like nylon (i.e. Tea Pigs brand). It should say on the pack. If changing, I would say to go for unbleached bags, sewn, not gummed (i.e., Clipper). Life isn't simple if you care, is it!
I LIVE on tea, black tea. Green tea just doesn't taste good to me and it doesn't have caffiene. I sweeten my black tea with liquid stevia extract (no erythritol powder added). when I crave sweets, I just have a cup of tea, big help in keeping the sweets away.
Thank you, Docs. I'd have my tea intravenously if possible. Love my tea but I have black with milk. I have organic everything if possible. I would say to have unbleached teabags and stitched instead of gummed bags (i.e. Clipper) but not sure how I would check for heavy metals. Has to be piping hot (I used to think boiling, but apparently that was only due to unsafe water decades ago) and always best from thin bone china. All the fingers can't get through the handle so the little finger has to go somewhere .... 😊 I will try Matcha and Green tea now, as well, thanks to you. (Docs, I've heard of 'spilling the beans' but not the tea). 🤔
Greetings from America, specifically Wisconsin. Very informative video. I drink green tea occasionally. It has about 29 mg of caffeine per cup as compared to black tea which has about 47 mg per cup. I don't care for black tea, as it has a bitter after taste, in my opinion, whereas green tea is soothing. We all need to drink more of these teas. It actually tastes better if you lift your little finger while drinking. 😄
I am drinking green tea right now, with ginger roots what I cut and turmeric root what I cut up and organic raw unfiltered and half lemon and I drink it twice a day. Morning and evening 😄 0:56
My goodness Docs!! I never knew the many benefits of tea!! I’m going to try to enjoy this everyday. A question: How about making the tea, then letting it cool and make an iced tea? Same benefits?
Yes you can drink it cold I brew it and place it in the fridge and drink it cold so delicious. I let it cool off before I place it in fridge or put ice cubes
I love tea! My Dad and Mom always drank tea. My whole family loves tea except for one of my brothers.🤭 Maybe it’s because my great grandparents are from Wales and England why we love tea so much.😊 Thanks for another fun but factual video!🫖😊🇺🇸❤️
I learned through the University of Chicago’s prestigious Kidney Stone Program to pair calcium foods with high oxalate containing foods like tea-if eaten at the same time, the calcium and oxalate bind together, therefore reducing the .risk of calcium/oxalate kidney stones forming. Yup! Drink green tea every day, including from a great Montreal importer: Camilla Sinensis. Their matcha is the best. Makes a huge difference to have a good quality matcha. Started cutting open the plastic tea bags and drop the leaves into a tea sieve to avoid the microplastics.
Capt Picard got me drinking tea many moons ago. I started with tea hot earl grey, now I go with green, unsweetened. Many years ago, read a book on toxicology and he mentioned Caffeine is one of five alkaloids in a family and coffee/tea have a differing ration of these. Curious if it's worth a video to talk about this in regards to differing coffee tea processing and the ratio of better alkaloids? This might be a bit off from mainstream. Any studies of other plants with these alkaloids? Matcha is very popular in south America. I'm sure there are others.
Another very helpful video. I'm a coffee drinker and I used to be a tea drinker. I'm trying now to have one cup of coffee and 3 cups of tea. Along with copious amounts of water. Consequently I can never leave home. Thanks docs. 😊

Yay thanks so much!!!
I drink organic ceremonial green tea from Japan. Two-three cups a day. It has l-theanine and calms me down ❤ and has great health benefits!
Stopped drinking coffee a year ago and now drink tea. Matcha and green are my favorites.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know it reduced LDL. I have to return to my tea drinking habit.

I love tea and green tea as well! I heard somewhere if you add raw honey to it that it helps lower your cholesterol also? How do you feel about this?

So happy that you mentioned Taiwan❤ We are the country who created bubble tea, and also we have some high quality mountain teas ❤
What a great video! As a hot drink, I prefer black tea with honey and spices, but I find iced green tea is lovely.
Home grown Chamomile and mint tea with a teaspoon of wild bee honey...quite relaxing.

I grow tea - which is a pretty easy plant if you have the right climate. It's just a lot better.
Which climate is that?

I drink 3 cups of black tea and one cup of herbal tea every day and also several glasses of water.
