Contrary to other feedback, I think for "real" bike riders who venture through heavy rains storms and especially mountain bikers, the matching Poncho works real good to stop dirt entering the top seam around the Quad Lock case. Yes modern phones come fairly waterproof with IP68 ratings but the wear and tear on the expected phone life span is significant. The purchase of a Poncho over the live of phone is a practical and good value way to get the best out of your phone!
Great review. I too got the poncho as well and was initially frustrated by the complete lack of ability to use the touch screen while using both screen protector and the poncho. However it turns out there's a setting in Android that you can turn on to make your phone usable again! Hope it helps :) Settings > Display/Advanced Features > Touch Sensitivity/Screen Protector Mode
I bought the case as a package for £90. The Samsung case is brilliant. Buttons are a bit stiff but I can live with that. The mount ( I have motorcycle and bicycle options) are really good. No movement, very secure. The poncho. Ah the poncho. Now that's a piece of crap. First of all it makes your screen inoperable. Secondly the poncho comes with a disclaimer that it's not waterproof and to use judgement while using in rain. Third, while it's on bike bars and you don't have mudguards your going to get mud spray hitting your camera. I bought a waterproof case from decathlon and cut a circle in the back. This gives a much higher level of protection. I have riden in reel downpours and my phone has been dry and fine.
I bought the case and lock recently but didn’t get the poncho. I was thinking I perhaps should have got it but having watched your video I think I made the right choice. My phone is waterproof and I rarely cycle in rain, so worst case I’ll just store my phone if the weather gets really bad when out.
I've used Quadlock for years and never had any issues. I ride motorbikes, and up until last September, I never thought of buying the poncho. However, doing a 1,500 mile ride around to and around Scotland last year, the lack of extra weather protection even for a waterpoof phone, especially on a bike with no windscreen, almost killed my phone. The moisture almost destroyed my camera, and it took three weeks to clear up from water, and during my time in Scotland, the phone would just shut itself off because of the rain. This time, with a new phone, I've purchased the poncho, and sure it wont be put on all the time, but for those long tours, I'll make sure it's installed even with minor drawbacks. I suppose when cycling, easy access to your phone is expected more often, but when on a motorbike, so long as the satnav is up, there's no touching.
Hey Mikey, thanks for sharing your experience. I would agree that in such an instance the poncho makes lots of sense! Around Scotland sound fantastic hope you had a great time!
I use my phone as a satnav on a quadlock whilst riding a motorbike and if rain hits the screen it will sometimes stop navigating and open a menu. On a back road thats not an issue mut on the motorway in pouring rain its a big issue so the poncho has a use. you could easily cut the button area out if you need to
Other issues w the Poncho on my iPhone: it doesn’t work well with polarized sunglasses in my experience. The display becomes mottled with shadows and rainbow effects. Also Face ID which relies on the front camera no longer works so unlocking the phone becomes tedious. Touch screen still works for me but I don’t use an additional screen protector.
Doing food delivery in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 the poncho is not great to accept orders. I feel like bolting on a dry box to the universal mount but the advert said not compatible with wireless charging but quad lock do the wireless charger 🔌, why not would that charge wirelessly if I did that?
Just what is meant by "cold"? 40°F? 60°F? I'm considering this for my wife (Can Am Ryker), but she thinks 70°F is almost too cold to ride. My phone is waterproof and my Goldwing offers plenty of protection from wind/rain at speed, so I think I'll be OK.
I guess the poncho would be useful if you were just wanting to keep it safe but not being able to use the touchpad kind of negates it's usefulness IMO.
Thanks for the review. I was thinking about the poncho, but for the reasons you gave I’m not going to bother
thanks for the poncho review. exactly what i thought. Poncho is useless if the phone is already waterproof .

Real bike riders?
@@out_spockenby this he means riders that aren’t afraid to go out in all conditions, nothing wrong with his comment.
I can agree!

Wow Great to know thank you!
Do you know whether that is also capable on iOS?
@@jeremyw.465 couldn't find anything unfortunately. It's a shame!
Thanks
samsung S10 was
settings>display>touch sensitivity
Mine was already ON
so I'm not overconfident how well it'll work with the poncho.
Thank you very much for in insightful reviews about various Quad Lock accessories.. I found it most informative.

thnx i almost bought it, no i definitely will not buy the poncho
Thanks for the review - the material looks cheapy, could turn yellow soon. I like the lock mechanism a lot - very sturdy.

Hey Kris, I'm glad to have been able to help you! I think the same, in case the weather gets really bad I just put it away.

I think we will use it when raining :D

which bicycle bell do you use?
I used to use the bell from Knog but that broke quite easily and at the moment I haven’t found one that convinced me so I am not using one…

Since the poncho is not worth it, can you recommend something that would repel water when using it in the rain. Thanks
No, if you haven’t got a waterproof phone you will have to buy it…
nikwax rain spray
i guess i don't need it, thanks for this review
Any samsung user with experiences on these series? I need your reviews coz I'm considering it haha
