I am currently using the cheap lock with vib dampener and a quad lock case for the phone. Went through all road conditions, works like a charm. If using the cheap lock adaptor, replace the adhesive with a 3M VHB Tape.
I've used the "cheap lock" for over 2 years without any problems but i did change the double-sided tape for 3M VHB Tape. I also tested the "cheap lock" with a 50 mph slide crash and it survived without damage to the lock or phone. Bike didn't survive
This is the most unbiased review I have ever saw, I have the cheap lock, now I am concerned with the adhesive, lol. Time to buy the quadlock accesories for the cheap mount lock 😂😂
Im using the cheap lock as well but I immediately use a 3M double sided tape for the adhesive since I don't trust the one that is included on the package.
Q4 2023: I got the cheaplock (actually called Pushlock here) and it already had a 3M VHB adhesive. It's around 10$ for both mount and cheap dampener. It's currently mounted on my MTB. Only been using for a month though, but so far it really works well and the build quality feels great. On rough riding, it's stable and it holds the phone pretty solid. Edit: the pad is installed on my plastic phone case. If anyone's wondering too; the adhesive's thickness is 1mm
I use the cheap one, and they work really great. Easy to install. I also installed it with the vibration dampener on the cheap one works good. Taken many videos with my phone mounted to the bars with no vibration issues. The mount pad on the cheap one works good if you let it set. I've had it on my motorcycle for 2 years now without any issues. It's never fallen off
I love your tests guys! Thorough, informative, and entertaining. About the adhesive test, for both quad lock pulls, the rope was looped over the mount itself so was not testing the adhesive (perhaps an editing issue), and it actually resulted in a broken phone in the last test. The Cheap Lock had the rope looped next to the mount so did actually test the adhesive. FWIW, I do have the Cheap Lock with dampener, your test gave me confidence in the purchase and its been working well for several months.
I have the cheap mount with the Quadlock adhesive clip. It works very well. Will be buying a genuine Quadlock vibration dampener but see you can get cheap versions of that too now. Also, only found the cheap mount because of you guys, cheers
First time watching you guys. Y'all hilarious! Keep up the good work. For the rope test. With the quad lock, the rope was on the bracket. For the cheap lock, the rope was off the bracket.
Two years ago i watched your video, and today I finally bought the cheap-lock, and because of the Induction charger of Iphone, i bought the original phone case of Quadlock. It actually works well 🤣
Guys, you don't need to buy the expensive quadlock pad. Just buy new 3M double sided foam tape and replace it right away from new. Job done! Thanks for the video
I would say so… I’ve one on my motorbike for the last 12 months or so and my phone is fine. Just remember to invest in a original quad lock phone case- DO NOT put that sticky pad on the back of your phone, it will come off!
I have the original quad lock holder with the original vibration dampener, but after changing the phone I bought a cheap universal a phone mount, that I mounted on a clear case with a plastic back. After 24 hours of installation, I tried the test of how many kilograms it can withstand and at 12 kg it did not come off even a mm. So I think it is trustworthy without changing the glue.
Amazing video! I was going to buy some huge exaggerated phone mount because SP Connects and Quad locks are too expensive in my country. But now thanks to this video I already ordered a cheap lock and hit the like button and the subscribe button altogether!
I've been using the cheap lock with the adhesive pad that came with it and honestly it's rock solid and seems very secure so maybe some cheaper brands supply better adhesive pads than others. Just got a cheap vibration damp mount off Ebay and while it's a bit wobbly it seems OK so saved another £10 👍
Using the cheap lock+QL Iphone case & vibration dampener..works like charm..no need to spend on the QL..thank u for the video comparison..help me save a lot of money😂😂😂
Loved it when the Glass case failed.... Still not sure who tied on the rope when you were trying to get Adhesion failure because the rope was tied around the base instead of just the phone case. All in all, this was funny to watch. Yes, Go with "cheap lock" and 3M adhesive.
Love this video! I liked and subscribed just because this video was great! I am currently in Brazil, and quad locks are hard to find and expensive, but the alternative is for everyone. I did replace the double-sided tape of the alternative with 3M double-sided tape and haven't had any issues for months! I am very impressed. It is also great to know that quadloack products can be used withthis set up as well. THANK YOU!
I loved your review and testing. I would like to say the vib damper from quad lock is meant for Higher Rpm vibrations i don't know the specific vibration frequency that causes the camera on the phone to freak out i do know its not below 1000 Rpm. I would like to see that test hehe :) cheers
Amos has since stopped mounting his phone on the bike as the camera has died on him multiple times. he used to mount the phone on the bike everyday when he rides. apparently due to the vibration from the motorcycle :(
So seems like the way to go is official quad lock phone case and vibration mount with the cheap lock to save some money...too bad I already have the quad lock one, could have saved a few bucks
You guys are hilarious. Fun and informative video. I bought plenty of quadlock stuff. They are good quality but not perfect. Biggest complain is that the armband inside face does not have any gripping material so it slips easily. The locking mechanism is not the easiest to lock but it’s secure. MAG head is useful I bought one for my car. Regular Apple MagSafe is NOT secure enough if you use a case. MAG head has a locking shape so it would never fall off (not for bikes tho). But yes i think the biggest problem is price. Not everyone wants to buy cheap locks but quad locks are very expensive. Buying one set is ok but their philosophy is for user to employ the use of their lock and mount systems for biggest benefits. But by setting prices very high will limit how many people will buy them and how many people will buy.
I use the cheap quad lock. Very good. I mounted the adapter to my other phone case with superglue, which has a flat back good for glue. Phone stayed on while mountain biking, never once came like a bit loose or seemed to fall off. Actually rock solid. Quad lock itself is great, but knock of is exactly the same, besides being red instead of blue, but who cares anyways.👍🏻😅
I got one of each, and I love the cheap lock, I use the cheap lock on my Superduke1290 with the quadlock case, and the quadlock with vibration dampening on my dirtbike, cheap lock is awesome for a fraction of the price, get the cheap lock with the quadlock case and you will be good!
I am part of One of Canada‘s biggest motorcycle clubs and because of your guys video I’ll be recommending them to get the cheap lock. Thank You very much you guys.
I went for the cheap lock with a Quad lock case, and its amazing. The QL cases are truly worth the money, very nice and high quality, rock solid protection, feels great in your hands with metal buttons, and I've got the new S23 FE Mag case and its combatable with wireless charging, and most Magsafe products, even got a Magsafe Popsocket wallet I'm running on it.
2 years ago!, now quadlock has the quadlock/mag safe case that has both buillt in-combo where the lock is built into the case no adhesive stuff to deal with . ! that + aliexpress mounts seems like a complete win! save a couple hundred $
For the second test slight differences - i would guess it would be due to the mounts being located in SLIGHTLY different areas. The slightest change, angle, grip, position of the mount on the bars could affect the results. That said, I believe THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME! I am convinced!

Thx for motivating. Peace out ✌.
I had that cheap quadlock on my setup i' vietnam for hard enduro. All you need to do is add some 3m grey/red tape on the back of the sticky mount. Then it is ultimate. Cheers.
2 years late but the cheap one work perfectly the only reason I changed to quad lock was due to the ram ball mount adaptor so I can connect to the fuel tank phone mount for ninja 300
Saving money is nice, but I prefer the quadlock case. It's way more secure, less permanent, and sleeker. If I had a cheap phone cheap lock makes sense, but if my phone is $400 or more I might as well get a solid case/mount system. Swapping a case and continuing to use the same mounts with quadlock is a valid strat,
Quadlock comes with their case and It's just so expensive when changing phone models. Thanks for this I will just have to buy Cheap Lock accessories for arm bands to belt clips haha
One thought on the cheap lock. Cheap products have very little quality control (like a very popular, very cheap tool company.) So there is likely to be more variability in the products that make it through and get sold. So the one tested may be indicative of 90% of their mounts sold, but what if you get one from the other 10%? To protect my expensive phone I'll trust a brand with a good reputation. There are times to save and times to buy piece of mind. Protecting something expensive or safety fall under the second category. Just my thoughts. Thanks for the great video; informative and entertaining both.
For the chance that 10% of them are defective, attach a lanyard to your phone and secure it to your bike. If the mount fails, your phone will still be with you.
Great video. I just received the cheap lock to use on my bicycle. Like you suggested I'll buy the quad lock universal adaptor and have the best of both
If you go to a motorcycle shop . They keep all the accessories of trade ins and you can dig through and I found my blue quad lock for 10 bucks and a bada$$ cupholder for morning coffee . Was a dream find. And their are 20 more in that box
Thank you for providing such a helpful review of these two locks. Based on your recommendation, I purchased the Quad Lock for my XMAX 300. However, now I regret getting involved in the Quad Lock ecosystem. Haha!"
The end results were shocking! It would be a waste to buy the quadlock mount (though quadlock already addressed it by making a “pro mount” which is now cnc aluminum made) but we aint spending more money for a mount. Imma get a cheaplock mount with a quadlock case specifically for my iphone (they make cases for iphones, samsung galaxy, huwai/pixel phones). Thanks again for well made unbiased review!
The plastic composition with handle absorption of vibration differently. Hard and more durable quad sends more vibration through but will be less prone to failure. Great video guys. First time watching you. I understand trying to save money but I can't knowingly buy the knock offs. Theft of intellectual property is killing many innovative start ups and it happens so quickly after all the effort and expense is paid by the original developers.
hi Kevin, yes we agree with the whole not supporting the knock offs theory but we are just really not taking any sponsorships from the brands that we test and just trying our best to give a full honest review of the items in this series! thanks for the comment we appreciate you spending time leaving a comment! cheers!
@@tri333ple That is clear to your viewers I think. Certainly to me. I appreciated the effort you took to be as fair as you can. The premium product has an r&d team to fund, including the multiple failed product revisions to get a quality product to market. The cheap one just has a rip off department. Knock off will never innovate just imitate
Thanks for doing the tests we all wonder about when we see the considerably cheaper quad lock alternative replica products. I have a quad lock pre loved mount coming in the post with new replica versions of the dampener and stick on case adapter but I'm thinking now that I will eventually get the official quad lock adapter or update the tape so it's good to know the performance of the replica model adapter is likely to be sub par before hand. Thank you for your efforts I will be subscribing to your channel as I like your team's camaraderie and the content you produce.
Best combination and saving for the bank account is to use the quadlock phone case (dropped phone a few times from several height and phone is still working) + cheaplock mount
I wanted the quad lock till seen the price then see this cheaper one its still going strong all i done was buy some 3M tape for the mount amd holds up perfectly with the cheap mount and damper
Do as I'm doing, using Tesa double sided tape with the cheap quad lock copy, cheap and holds 👍 I'm using it with my motorcycle so this tape is also fuel resistant
Got both quad lock and the ebay knock off. They are very similar in construction. I kept the knock off and sent the quad lock back. So far it's work flawless using the quad lock 3m adapter on my phone.
I'm a plastics engineer and it looks to me like the Quadlock uses more expensive glass filled material and that's why it transfers more vibration. But at least in these tests unfilled material in the cheap lock performed more desirably and dampened vibrations better and is still strong enough. For sure there is more engineering in the Quadlock so there probably is a breakaway feature on the quad lock because of the stiffer mount material. "Breakaway" meaning either the black quad holder is a little smaller than the cheap-lock or the material has more flex in it. (or simply the cheap-lock missed that dimension when they copied it) Bottom line It is what it is. You have to make the call if you would rather your phone break away and slide or stay with the bike and get ground down maybe.
Nice review guys Quadlock vs the Cheaper one😁😁😁i currently using the cheaper ones they call it pushlock 😁😁😁 i bought it only 200pesos or 4usd more or less and i put the quadlock vibration damper that i bought for 1000pesos 😁😁😁😁 i should say that pushlock is the cheapest alternative cp holder mount and i use it for almost 8months without any doubt 😁😁😁 godbless sir
Quadlock is not too expensive for being such a solid system. I'd never use the 3M attachment though. Only the case. I have the wireless charger and dampener.
I’m using a fake quad lock with a real quad lock case, funny enough the case was more than I paid for the lock itself lol. I live in a 3rd world country (UK) and the anti vibration works amazingly well (also needed) with the ridiculous amount of potholes here
Great video guys! What exactly is the model of the cheap lock mount you guys are using? Planning on getting the Quad Lock adhesive and vibration dampener along with the cheap lock mount, since you guys say it works perfectly. Thanks for the video!
I use quadlock as well there phone case but im not empress vibration is still there😩so i try the cheaper one im amaze it holds properly and did not vibrate...what i did in the is i preheated first adhesive before i put it and hold very well i run 132kph and its still hold...if you have a money go for the quadlock but if you dont have its better the cheaper one...the end of the day no body will look at it😊
so get the cheaplock mount, quad lock case/adhesive, vibration dampener.. and possibly the wireless charger. and your set with minimal vibrations. >.> personally tho id go for the pro mount just for the aluminum mount and replace the head with the cheaplock XD
One more setting you have tested, offroad. If cheap lock survives offroad then it's good otherwise not worth it. I have Lobboo phone mount and it survived quite a few offroad sessions so far.
Use the cheap one , cheap adapter with 3M tape included on tha package without any dampener for over 1yr now without any problem. i tried using with my Blackshark phone, iphone 13 pro max and my oppo phone. Didn’t have any issues with cameras or the phone itself. Btw i use lower CC MC. Honda PCX 160cc i do long rides most of the time.
when you crash on a bike the handlebars will most likely come in contact with the ground so your drop test doesnt really complete the test you are basically testing riding along and then suddenly coming to a complete stop.

@@tri333ple Thank you heaps ,and you are most welcome. I'm so glad my comment makes you all happy. I'm honored.
I will share my story too one day after coming out all of tough struggles and pain, and what situations in life even made me look at this quad lock Video, I am a very hopeful person but thanks for reinforcing my hope.
Thx for motivating.
Peace out ✌.
i listen not just because of the awesome content, but because your SG accent makes me laugh. Keep creating!
I had that cheap quadlock on my setup i' vietnam for hard enduro. All you need to do is add some 3m grey/red tape on the back of the sticky mount. Then it is ultimate. Cheers.
You could have rev the motor a little for the test, but otherwise the best comparison/test I have seen
WOW! I was pretty much amazed with the test.. Great job bro!
Thanks for sharing! Agree with what you have just said!
You don't think they're made from the same factory. Cmon man! You're better than that
For the chance that 10% of them are defective, attach a lanyard to your phone and secure it to your bike. If the mount fails, your phone will still be with you.
Ive had the cheap lock for one day and it broke. My phone was in the middle of street. Im lucky It didnt break and another car was far behind.
Great video. I just received the cheap lock to use on my bicycle. Like you suggested I'll buy the quad lock universal adaptor and have the best of both
Thank you for the kind feedback! Hope you liked the video!
Where did you buy the cheap lock ?
And the message was there is a real quality difference but at a huge cost for marginally better performance. A lesson the Quad guys should learn. I am a solutions engineer in rugged computing and edge AI systems. I fight the value argument with management and sales often.
@@kevinlytle6215 thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. We appreciate and look forward to discussing these topics with people who watch! 🙏 stay safe buddy
This video was hilarious, and very informative, thank you guys!
i bought that exact cheap one, instantly saw the glue sucked so i glued t to my case and used t for ages on my bike no issue
Best combination and saving for the bank account is to use the quadlock phone case (dropped phone a few times from several height and phone is still working) + cheaplock mount
I got one from TEMU for about $4AUD. I have a genuine Quad Lock case and it fits perfectly.
Bought one of these on eBay 13$
Exactly like the real thing and fits my original quad lock iPhone case perfect
Thank you for watching our video, appreciate the comment!
Ok thank you! i was about to get the Quadpro but honestly for the kind of ride that i do it seems that the similar model will be more than enough!
I wanted the quad lock till seen the price then see this cheaper one its still going strong all i done was buy some 3M tape for the mount amd holds up perfectly with the cheap mount and damper
Great video guys! Keep up the good work! What kind of app do you use? For the vibration measurement?
I use it too in my MTB and it holds very well on hard bumps and crash
Do as I'm doing, using Tesa double sided tape with the cheap quad lock copy, cheap and holds 👍 I'm using it with my motorcycle so this tape is also fuel resistant
Thanks for the feedback! Sure it will help other riders!
RIP to the phones, giving a like for its sacrificial purpose
🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
Got both quad lock and the ebay knock off. They are very similar in construction. I kept the knock off and sent the quad lock back. So far it's work flawless using the quad lock 3m adapter on my phone.
Thanks for sharing! Ride Safe!
@@tri333ple saved me some $$$
yo bro what's your phone case made out of? aparrently it needs to be plastic (without a coating) or metal. is it really THAT important?
@@Xyros0 mine is just a regular case I assume plastic it's a Otterbox brand nothing special.
It will be interesting to see whether one is more UV resistant than the other. I have had my quad lock for three years now
I'm a plastics engineer and it looks to me like the Quadlock uses more expensive glass filled material and that's why it transfers more vibration.
I just ordered one on ali express and a used quadlock case on ebay . Total cost was about $20. not bad.
Good experiment. Curious if your could also just replace the cheap lock adhesive with better 3M and repeat pull test.
according to the comments they work pretty well!
So happy with my cheap lock mount and quad lock phone case for my iphone 14 plus
Thank you for watching we hope the video helped!!
good tests. only thing i would say is you needed to rev the bike to some RPM when testing the vibration.
As usual - you get what you pay for - I believe it's by design that the quad lock phone came off after extreme pressure and did not break.
yeap it could really be by design that the quad lock releases the phone under a certain amount of pressure!
Amazing stuff guys! Cheers
thank you for watching! hope the video helped!
Where can I find the cheap lock? What's its actual name? Thanks
I'm looking for it also
Any luck? 🤞
I know aliexpress has it. Carousell for people from Sg
thank you Guys for that wonderful Camparison!
you're welcome! thank you for the sub!
Quadlock is not too expensive for being such a solid system. I'd never use the 3M attachment though. Only the case. I have the wireless charger and dampener.
Do you have universal adapter? I am looking for prof if wireless charger works with uniwersal adapter.
@@przemekszymek438 Yes, it works.
I’m using a fake quad lock with a real quad lock case, funny enough the case was more than I paid for the lock itself lol.
I live in a 3rd world country (UK) and the anti vibration works amazingly well (also needed) with the ridiculous amount of potholes here
Excellent head to head comparison, great content.. 👍🏼👍🏼
May you please provide the link to buy the cheap lock?
Great video guys!
What exactly is the model of the cheap lock mount you guys are using?
Planning on getting the Quad Lock adhesive and vibration dampener along with the cheap lock mount, since you guys say it works perfectly.
Thanks for the video!
If you are in singapore you can find it on the carousell app. If not. Aliexpress should have it. Not sure about the exact name though 🤭
I use quadlock as well there phone case but im not empress vibration is still there😩so i try the cheaper one im amaze it holds properly and did not vibrate...what i did in the is i preheated first adhesive before i put it and hold very well i run 132kph and its still hold...if you have a money go for the quadlock but if you dont have its better the cheaper one...the end of the day no body will look at it😊
so get the cheaplock mount, quad lock case/adhesive, vibration dampener.. and possibly the wireless charger. and your set with minimal vibrations. >.>
personally tho id go for the pro mount just for the aluminum mount and replace the head with the cheaplock XD
One more setting you have tested, offroad. If cheap lock survives offroad then it's good otherwise not worth it. I have Lobboo phone mount and it survived quite a few offroad sessions so far.
Shopee has a lot of them, so far so good.
very good and creative video. You guys derved a new subscriber here. congratulations! Cheers from Portugal
Honda PCX 160cc i do long rides most of the time.
apparently the bigger cc bikes will cause damage to the newer phone cameras. :(
You guys make really good videos. I enjoy them
when you crash on a bike the handlebars will most likely come in contact with the ground so your drop test doesnt really complete the test you are basically testing riding along and then suddenly coming to a complete stop.
Solid content. Bravo!
Thanks a lot fellas. Know what I’m going to do.
Wa this is super awesome! So entertaining also!
Thanks Daniel. Hope you liked it! More to come!
