The speedometer on the dash is making noise. Is it the cable? Let's find out.
In this video, the entire speedometer assembly is removed from the dash, the cable/housing is removed and replaced, and the 1955 Ford is road tested to confirm success. Helpful review on reproduction parts and lube is also included.

Very nice! Well done Rev! I neglected to check the core of the cable in my mom's 55. One just "assumed" that it would come lubed already! Since hers has a C4 auto I had bought an ATP cable by custom length. I sure hope it was pre-lubed! Maybe I'd better check! Great video!

My '55 has a C4 as well and I was wanting to install a speedometer cable as well in mine. Is it working good for your mom so far and accurate? And if so, do you happen to have a link for the cable you bought?

@@aronjones7237 when I saw your comment I started digging to see if I had the old box or kept the part number somewhere, which I thought for sure I did (in case anyone asked) but it hasn't turned up yet. I'd have to go back to the earlier videos of my '55 and see if I made mention of it. I might have...? But still I'm usually good about saving part numbers for stuff like this. I DO remember it being a ATP brand part and wherever I bought it, it was a normally stocked Item. I'll keep digging!

@@aronjones7237so here's the best i can do for you right now. I only found my notes, NOT what I actually installed. Should help some.
      ATP Y-842 66" long
      ATP Y-801 82" long
      ATP Y807 60" long
      Pioneer CA-3015 60" long
      Pioneer CA-3010 82" long
See if that helps you out a bit. I want to say it was the 66" long one, but don't quote me on that. I'll keep digging because NOW I wanna know for sure as the one I did use fits perfectly.

@@OlysGarage Awesome! Yeah I'd definitely want to use the one you used cause it sounds like the perfect one for me to use on my 55 as well.

Got a question. First i like your videos. My question, i did 12 volt change to my 55. I am seeing my temp gauge pegged at 170 degrees. Do i need to increase my working voltage above 6 volts? I have a buck converter 6 volt output. I have factory 6 volt temp sensor. Dash gauge oem to car. Maybe you have a better suggestion.

They are Dickies brand coveralls available at several online and department store retailers. I found the patches on eBay and had them sewn on by a seamstress.
