Couldn't help but ponder how the people who carved those petroglyphs would react seeing you two do your low-level pass then return and land your plane, and finally get out and casually stroll up to them. They would probably regard you as gods. We live in an amazing time. Thanks for sharing this!
Super cool when flying takes you places others can't go. Glad Hailey was there to run the landing checklist for you, "Full flaps, engage, stay calm, keep your eye on where you're going to land"
At age 71, I have been interested in many things. Done a coast-to-coast motorcycle trip. Just finished up living on a 38' foot fishing boat in L. A. Logged nearly 100 hours in a Quicksilver ultralight back in the early 1980's. But the past 20 years, I have also been a horse owner. He is out here in the freaking hot desert, north of Palm Springs these days. I follow four or five aviation channels and probably an equal number of horse channels around the world. I want to know more about Hailey getting into the equine adventure! Introduce us to her horse and what sort of adventures she is going for. And even though it doesn't sound like Endurance is her goal, have her take a look at some videos about the Tevis Cup, which is a 100-mile horse race through the High Sierra mountains, that begins near Lake Tahoe and ends in Auburn, California. Been running every year since about 1955. I volunteered up there for three years, and it is truly inspiring and incredible.
Cool shot coming into your strip, 🙋♂ Haley, nice seeing you 🙋♂ Cool idea for the smoke Trent, checking the landing area for wind. 👍 Need more Haley, she adds fun to you videos. 🤟 guys.
5:00 Those are matate holes.. or grinding holes.. they would put some wheat or corn in the hole and grind it with a mano or rock to make some kind of bread
Grew up in that area Trent...there's TONS of petro's like that up there...those "holes" are grinding rocks that you were pointing out...another gr8 vid!
Wonderful seeing the two of you having a pleasant little exploration together, you and the lovely Hailstorm😍, swear she’s looking better than ever. The horseback riding is great, grew up around horses, just watch out they’re smarter and sneakier than they look.
Trent and Halley ... ANOTHER Great video. Thank you for sharing that adventure. GREAT scenery, beautiful part of your country. Agreed, it would be so awesome to get someone out there who can give you some background on the history of those etchings. Look forward to that video. Two thumbs up from CYQT.
It's great to see you (Hailey) flying again (and I mean actually working the controls, good job!) But about the doors being open or closed....? As long as you're strapped in with your seat belt, what does it matter if the door is open or even completely OFF the plane? Maybe if you think of it like a roller coaster. There's no doors on those, but you have enough confidence that the bar across your lap will hold you in that you're willing to ride it, right ? ....just an idea I had that "MIGHT" help to ease your fear....I hope. And since you mentioned your horse, I'd like Trent to put more "home critters" shots in his videos. Chickens, fish (Koy) dogs, and now your horse! Which makes me wonder if Trent will get one too so that you can go riding together? And I'm going to "REVEAL" a little more about ME here by saying that horses are sorta scary to me ! A lot more than any mechanical object like an airplane. I grew up in a very small Utah town called MANTI and we "TRIED" to make our family income from a farm selling yearling Herford and Angus cattle..... We were only in the "black" (made a profit) one year in all of the 30+yrs that we owned it ! But when you have cattle you have to have horses so we always had two of these. But as kids we rarely got to ride either one of them and the few times that I did turned into fiascos with bodily injuries, and it wasn't until I was almost 25 yrs old and I made a very out of the blue, spontaneous trip with some friends to a cattle ranch in Idaho, that I met up with a horse that actually knew how to take a riders directions ! THAT was my BEST riding experience EVER ! And if I would have had the space to keep it, I would have bought that horse then and there ! What was the difference? I think it was how well the horse had been trained. It rarely ever trotted. Just one gentle kick and it was straight into a gallop ! And just one tug on the reins and it was back to a walk. It was an Arabian and some people say that they are very smart. But I'm not sure if the breed really had anything to do with how well behaved and how easy to ride it was? Anyways, that's my "horsey" experience. Please keep us up-to-date about yours.
Emmet and I hiked into those petroglyphs several years ago. We searched high and low and couldn’t find them at all so we stopped for a break. During our break time the sun moved and put shadows in just the right spot. We turned around and it’s like the Indians had just been there carving them. At the wrong time of day, with the sun in the wrong position, they almost disappear, unless you know exactly where they are.
Hi Toby, Please let the pilots who fly around here and camp out or spend the day in the backcountry, that there are now 2 wolf packs living in the Sierra Valley. The current issue of "The Sierra Booster Newspaper" has a very good article on this problem. When the packs grow inside they will need more food....not any antelope or deer now. Haven't heard yet if the cattle ranchers are losing cattle. Best to be aware of this issue as no one can kill a wolf! Please spread the word. Thanks Toodie
Trent- You guys ever get down south in New Mexico we have a lot of petroglyph areas in the local hiking areas. Come between Oct- May when the weather is cooler. Deming, Silver City, Las Cruces has airports...many local ranches with strips...
3:02 - Typical husband implantation of 'Honey, Im about to buy a multi thousand dollar propeller'... Let that seed sit a while and in a couple months and then boom, new propeller
Yo! Way cool!! hail storm flew the Freedomfox!!!! And opened the door way cool but you know your in trouble now Trent and happy 10 year anniversary you two!!!!
You won't find much on archeological resources, by government policy (some would say "law") they are "Top Secret". Plumas County has this to say: "Policy COS-7.5.9 requires the County to protect and maintain the confidentiality of previously recorded archaeological sites and resources in order to preserve and protect these resources from vandalism and the unauthorized removal of artifacts or other inappropriate uses."
That was interesting to see those petroglyphs, so old thanks for showing us them . Hayley seems to be enjoying the flying a bit more these days, well done. Cheers from NZ
I have found arrow heads and chippings on small hills where they could watch all around. And there may not be water now but when they were there water was close by. And arrow heads come to the surface after winter or they get covered. So a stick or rod to scratch the ground will help you find them sometimes just a little bit will show.
Looking forward to videos about your BC travels. Try flying in to Lillooet (CYLI), call Mile Zero Taxi, and go to Fort Berens winery for a fine salmon dinner. Their rosé is excellent! (yes I had to request a spittoon for the wine tastings so I could fly home again!)
The indentation in the rock looks very similar to the ones in the rocks near me in California, which were apparently mortars used for crushing and grinding nuts and acorns.
Way cool to come across them, good time to get out and look for arrowheads are after it rains and the rain has disrupted the soil. We always found it best to find them on our property!
You guys need a bug zapper tennis racket. I love mine and use it all the time. It's quite satisfying seeing the flash of light and the loud pop when a bug gets zapped from the racket. God bless!
BC fishing is awesome! Haven't done much inland fishing spent more time on the ocean chasing halibut, salmon, and crabs but inland is alot of of fun also best of luck on your fishing trip also fyi maybe grab a gold pan depending on region there are good panning creeks
Look up BC Helicopters when in BC might get a tour in the mountains it's very awesome sites they have to land at. I'm dying to go back just to go fly there.
cool trick laying smoke to see the wind over the LZ. Cool destination too. HS is so funny. "someone has to know all of the information about these petroglyphs." like the people that made them would have submitted the info to wikipedia. Doesn't get why "we're not the first people to be here" would not apply for two reasons, not just because of the glass. Why do I think that HS's scream was toned down on the audio during the formation break away with smoke? anyway, glad to see you both together and enjoying your house, cool places, and life. cheers

Anytime we would catch them doing this we would try to stop them and call BLM, Forestry, law enforcement and so on and just like when you catch people stealing, poaching and just trying to take stuff that isn’t there’s at all, they all just say that they are trying to support their families here illegally. They would usually just get a slap on the wrist and told to find other ways to support their families of 9 to 11 kids with both sets of grandparents all living off of us through the government through our taxes. So your video is just starting, so basically be careful not to give too much information about where to find these Petroglyphs or they might end up disappearing someday too. Thanks again
I haven't seen Hailey on too many videos recently, so I haven't seen her begin to fly. Her comment about flying up to solo and then quitting is not unexpected, but kind of sad. If she hasn't watched the series, I would really get her to watch Christy over on Taking Off and her recent parachute jump. Might be a good thing on overcoming fears. Anyway, interesting video.
Great video! Love to see the two of you out, exploring together! Is the RPM run away with your new propeller a big concern? I am curious as to what you can do to mitigate that.
I just noticed I have to adjust the throttle more than with the NR prop, it’s not a huge deal, just an interesting observation. Does make me want to try the constant speed version from Catto though, I think that might be the ultimate setup for my engine and plane
Way cool! There is potential to create another pilot there, she has a good start. A helicopter can go a long way in getting her over any fear of heights. I would suggest a Hiller, or Bell 47. Hard to beat!
Hailstorm struck me as someone who'd have a good "seat" on a horse in a lot of previous videos, as she's got the right posture. I used to do a lot of competitive riding here in Australia. If She's keen, it'd be great to see a video with her wearing the Insta 360 Go 3S. 🙂

She probably threatened putting something in his dinner. Lol

@@samschultz1456 That's possible but I'd guess she refused to make him dinner for a week and he was tired of canned spaghetti and pork and beans.
