lol.. If people didn't care what others thought, they wouldn't be spending thousands disfiguring their bodies with indelible ink. Tats scream out compliance, not uniqueness. They might have believed they were being rebellious when they were actually just following the herd.
I learned at an early age that people didn't like me. At first I thought it was my skin. What I wore. Where I was born. My accent. Then I realized all types of people don't like me. I began to ignore people, and focuse on myself. I stayed away. When others pushed me away I just took it from there. I focused more on my goals, and I accomplished every one of them without the negativity of anyone. I learned that I didn't need anyone. I'm fine with just one person liking me. It's really nice. I'm happy.

Well many people are quiet. That is not a logical reason not to like someone. It is more nuanced. I completely disagree that being liked is subjective. I know many people feel the same way about most people.

Theres always that stranger who hates you the moment they notice you. You can see it in their eyes. It can be on the job with someone new, or maybe you were the new guy that day. It can be in church, it can be the nearest apartment
So it goes all the way back to the schoolyard:

3. Dont waste your time being nice to them, mind your own business

I'm right there with you. My family DESPISED me growing up. Never failed to remind me. I miss them because of the blood tie, but it's best to stay away. Draining sometimes though.

I think there's more to it than that. Intention is the underlying component worth observing regarding the motive that people are operating from. There are manipulative people who are highly dependable, creative, etc. and most of us who are socially grounded can see the difference.
I don't have to imagine because it happened to me. Maybe not so much gated but not respected by family or believed in. It sucks badly and hurts too but it's on them now is how Zim look at it because I did the right things towards them.

I tried to share an amazing concept this morning with someone and was immediately given a look and shut down before I could even finish one sentence. Really deflating when I was excited to tell her. Hmm, I relate. But do you mind me asking how do you cope with work? No one wants to hire anyone they don't know or like. I'm in a temp job right now and I'm quiet. I hate standing out but yet people notice me because I happen to be a fairly attractive quiet person, apparently. So that makes things worse for me.

I'm still struggling with my people's pleasing behavior ingrained in my brain. I can't wait to get rid of it but I have been doing it for such a long time in order to survive in my family and later in other environments that it comes out unconsciously and it doesn't help me at all.

I’ve been disliked all my life. I trigger something in people.
Lately I have started viewing people as monkeys. If we had tails we would know the truth.
For a couple of years now I simply stopped caring about what people think.
It’s very hard to break out of the people trap. It takes work. It takes time. I have noticed they pick up on it! They somehow know I don’t care; that I will not bow down and serve.
But when I totally ignore one of them and just go about my business it’s so so good!

What if you need a job? How do you handle this at work when you come across as not approachable or well liked. I don't say much but perhaps somehow some people can misunderstand this as being an asshole. Not sure. Being self employed would be best for these kinds of personalities.

@@sxwrtr918 A lot of people do seem to be terrified of being alone. However, not all are fearful of isolation. I go weeks without seeing humans. I go longer without speaking to humans. I have had no fiends, nor acquaintances since 8 August 2000 at 18:34. It was a life altering adaptation that I believe most can accomplish. However, the adaptation made may be irreversible. Almost every aspect of life changes very radically when one lives alone and rarely sees humans. After a year living in such a different manner, one forgets how to exist in a herd. Everything you do is changed drastically. You learn to do things completely alone that you could have never conceived of being able to do without the effort of others. This rewriting of your mental programme is down out of necessity. However, if ever you return to being part of a human herd again, you will not consider asking for assistance from others, giving assistance, nor even be able to socially assimilate the customs and protocols associated with successful interpersonal, social, interactions and bonds. Night shift was to be closed for two weeks because of some sort of equipment exchanging. When the return to working days was offered to me, I thought I would like to meet the day shift coworkers because I work completely alone, at nights, and live in a very rural environment. It had been over a year of isolation. My return to an environment with humans around me was confusing, rather frightening, and they seemed to be more hindering me than being of any aid to me. When given the choice to stay at day shift and to hire a new third tier mechanic to work alone during the night, I demanded to return to the isolation I had grown so accustomed to living and working. I have no knowledge on how to be social, have friends, nor meet candidates for friendship. The rare times I see humans, it a night clerk, or two, in the region's only all night petrol station and grocery store. One can become self sabotagingly independent, self-reliant, and adapted to being alone and never recover.
Some people will hate you simply because you are what they are not strong enough to be. They nurture their weakness as a comfort rather than tear it down as a barrier and do their best to weaken others, because only in wounded weakness csn they feel superior.
I feel like this kinda happens to me in the DanceDanceRevolution community. In the game there's certain "levels" called stepcharts that tend to trip over most people, and a whole lot of people would rather not have to play them, while I am more than thrilled to take on the more challenging stepcharts even if they are only a nuisance for others. Oftentimes people overlook the details or intention and complain because it makes them think more.
Add to that the fact that most people play with the bar, thinking it's easier and me playing without it and yeah, that would make sense as to why I'm disliked by some... but that's envy, ain't that right?

My parents are narcissistic. Growing up I was conditioned to be good all the time and had to please them. . .so I have had a hard time with being rejected and criticized by people. I have more than one education, but at the age of 58 choose to work as a cleaning lady. I am positively surprised that most of my colleauges treat me like i am just as important as them. Especially the office workers are nice.
@@dortek882 the something called dramatalurgical theory. Spelling probably wrong. It’s the idea of public life as a theatre. So there are lead actors, supporting, etc., but also the backstage people that keeps things running. Each group has a different culture and the basic rule between cultures is to be nice and supportive when you interact. The fact your superiors are like that is a sign that the culture is healthy. Have a nice day.
Same thing with your car people will judge your character off the age and type of car you drive. And there's no way around it. It 100% affects the way people treat you.
We all put on a show when we walk out the door. On master thespian days we give good “hellos”, on other days we’re B actors or worse with bumbling lines. It’s all an act, no one presents as they really are. Only when we’re heart to heart the show is halfway decent and even then it could be based on a bullshit script.

I realised as a child I don't fit into most groups... Of course I had some friends (not many) and people who loved me as I'm, but most of the time I had a hard time to fit in. When I was young I tried my best to be accepted, sometimes I succeeded, sometimes I didn't. Now as a 51 years old I came to the realisation I don't need anybody except my husband and one good friend.

Now that I'm healthy - I care so much less about what others think of me (although as a species we have to care a little in order to survive). It's not even a choice - it's just what happens when you have healthier energy

BINGO!! I agree 100 percent. I had a friend and she was calling me 3x a day. I never had a friendship like that before and it was odd. I wasn't used to the attention. But then it was fun. We did everything together, travel, concerts, dinner, etc. Then for some reason unknown to me, she started avoided me and only contacting me if she wanted something. I picked up on that and asked her, "Do we need to talk? Did I do something wrong?"
She said, "No, you're crazy, everything is cool." And even after that, it was the same thing. She pretended she didn't see my emails. Didn't return calls. THEN when she wanted a favor, I'd hear from her. I finally did "no contact" and stopped emailing and calling. Then she texts that she misses me. I didn't answer because I knew she wanted something. Sure enough, she did want something. I wish she'd get the hint. I now blocked her emails.
@clockworkyokai Yeah, it was a horrifying experience. I'm still baffled. Now we haven't spoken in a few months. I'm secretly relieved, honestly. No more second guessing. I learned from the experience and will now pay attention to the red flags -- because there were many and I always gave her the benefit of the doubt. ... Feel better, though, The world isn't all bad. I'm a good friend and ready to give my friendship to those who are more deserving of me. I've since met two other women who are very cool. They return texts right away. They make plans and keep them. They are kind, interesting, and fun. We're all supportive of each other. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel :)

I'm not liked at school much and that spcific town is very judgemental and I dont really fit in with everybody else I've tried to make new friends and they dont like me as much as the friends I have...I'm just hated on for just existing...Its to a point where I want to cry and people are just dickheads to me 24/7 but thank god Ive found my people and going out of highschool soon...
Go ahead and have a good, long, hard cry to get it out of your system. Afterwards you will feel angry, but after the anger reached its peak you will feel refreshed. You will then accept "what is" and find your inner peace. Being alone is not a bad thing, trust me. Being liked and having a ton of "friends" is highly overrated. I've been on both ends and chose solitude.
Being raised by a toxic family teaches the opposite. Can only imagine how having access to the Internet or YT could have escalated my healing.
A woman I know constantly “reads my mind”, and gets angry that “I don’t like her”, when in reality, I try to stay out of her way because she constantly misinterprets almost anything I say, do, or don’t do. Does that make sense? Some people think they’re intuitive, but are actually projecting their fears or dark thoughts on you. I know the world is full of chaos, but I try to have a mindset of love, regardless of what people may think. Peace to you out there.

One thing i always keep in mind is that Jesus himself was hated. When he stood before the crowd and pilate asked who they wanted to release and who they wanted to crucify and kill, The crowd shouted to save barabas(a known murderer)and crucify Jesus. He did nothing but good, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the death, made the blind see and the deaf hear. He did all of that and yet they still hated him and chose to release a murderer over Our Lord and saviour. Thats what youre dealing with.

I feel like it is worse when it is family members who dislike you. And that dislikecomes with envy. and you cannot get rid of them easily.
I agree to some point. But after the hurt is gone, you realize you are better (safer and happier) without them around. I discovered this the hard way. And this knowledge made me stronger. It also drew me closer to The Most High God (Yeshua). I would call that a plus.
Most people want you to be part of their group. When we would rather ignore them, they get upset.
I'm often disliked because of temporary reactions i have, my honesty or many flaws or differences i know i have. I've been fooled by many likeable, horrible, evil people who are very charismatic.
There is a guy 54 at the time in 2005 I think, he was charged with 15 years of crimes against a child age 5 till age 15 and he had started on another 5 year old when the child's mother caught him and he was sentenced to 15 to life. But because he worked fill time all his life all most of his friends had to say was, they seen people commit murder and get less time, that is why I pay no attention to what people say
Most people dislike me. I dislike most people, but occasionally you meet some real gems out there.
I learned not to get trapped figuring out what people think. They all wear a game face so you would never know for sure what they are thinking. Keeping people at arms length works for me. Needy fragile people are the worst. Be good to yourself and kind to others but don't dwell on things other people say to you or about you.
Problem is every time I try to set a boundary - people get angry. Its as though I’m only allowed to exist and be accepted as long as I’m amenable to what everyone else wants. I think people generally assume they are above me in the social hierarchy (which I do believe exists) and so if I express any preferences they think I’m stepping out of line. I’m 51 and really sick of being unable to state what I want without the backlash from people. I might be overstating it but that’s how it feels. I’m always deferring to what everyone else thinks, wants needs.
if people are angry when you set a boundary that's quite normal. if they are unwilling to honour your boundary then that would indicate to me they are not the type of people I'd like to be around.

Thought I found it over 10 times just to be disappointed by them stealing from me and finding out they talk nasty crap about me behind my back. I got rid of everyone in my life hardly see family bc they have done the same ya'll talk about. How does one find their people? 😢
@@jilliantatum769 I'm in my early 40's myself and I have yet to find any real friends. People just end up using me, trying to take me for a fool, I have also been stolen from. I just keep to myself at the moment. I do suffer with mental health issues, depression and anxiety, as well as manic episodes. So I'm either so depressed I can't bring myself to speak to anyone, or anxious which stops me from going out alot of the time, or I am just manic, make bad decisions, end up spending money that was for bills etc. I have 2 cats and I got a dog a year ago which did help me to get out a bit and sit over the park, as I have mobility issues, I can't walk far because of my back problems and sciatica, but I did meet some dog walkers who always pass me as I'm sitting on the bench throwing toys for my dog to fetch as that's the only way I can exercise her!
To be honest getting a dog does make you meet people. I know it's not always right for everyone, as not everyone likes to have pets and dogs can be hard work, but I tell you it's definitely a way to meet decent people as people who like animals are generally nice, not always but mostly. I'm in the UK, where are you from?

I thought I had manic mental issues until I found the empath channel on UA-cam and realized I am just a severely traumatized Heyoka Empath. I have anxiety due to PTSD. I had to get rid of every friend I ever .add bc every one of them stole from me, tried to use me as a pawn for so e reason or another. I have no clue how to find my people. I have 3 cats. 2 of them came from the Ukraine a few months before the war started. I am trying to breed them but I had a vet office I used to board them while renovations were happening in the home. So they would be safe. I paid 6000 dollars in boarding fees just to have the place give my babies the worse roundworms infections it took us 2 yrs to get rid of them then the anti diarrhea medicine got in one of the cats eyes so for 8 months they had to wear a cone abd the girl I want to breed is so depressed being away from him she has gone anorexic. She is so skinny I am sooo worried. Going back to the vet fir a third time with her not eating well. Just seems friends or just business acquaintances I can't get no respect. Just like Rodney Dangerfield from the US movie Ladybugs. I am in the US. I want to go to the UK very badly. I am going through the motions of enrolling and getting funding to get into school for a major and minor bachelor degrees so I can get a life I want to live
I have healed thousands of people on my career and with Covid hurting my business bc no one here cares of possibly infecting someone else and ruining their life- doing so by the refusal of mask wearing during treatment. I have stopped many of bulging disks, disk degeneration disease, and sciatica just to name things similar to your issue. As long as it's honest I can understand you very well. Been through alot of the same experiences. Do you like living in the UK?

Thank you, for a very long time I have had a struggle with society in general where I have found myself not being liked and severely abused. At first I thought I was the issue and would try and change so society sees me in a better light but now I realise that I am not the problem, people generally have an issue where they will force their reflections on to others. I now find that whatever people say it doesn’t bother me because I understand that they aren’t happy in their own situation so when they see someone who has things going for them they become unhappy.
100%. I'm exactly the same. It really doesn't bother me now. I'm actually happier without them
So fun you say that people reflect. I have that effect on people I find how people see me as I get study them they tend to be describing themselves. The people that automatically take a dislike the mean things they project seems to be true of them so not a lost. As for the ones that take a nature likely they see to list things they like about me that is traits they have.
Is it really so bad that bad people rather stay away they sense you're not like them makes them uncomfortable. Where even if I can't measure to the great traits of people with good qualities is it an issue that you get to be in their presences over the other types of people

I know why people don’t like me and I’m good with it. I’m intense to say the least and have no problem speaking directly to the point. I’m a professional hermit and don’t want people around me so it works out great. I get lonely sometimes but I shake it off keep moving forward knowing. I got a job to do and to be unstoppable I need a clear path. 😊
When I look around at people in this world, it is a great honor that they dislike me.

Poignant point here. We have to slough off the dead skin if we intend to flourish. Some people won't know who you are but will have the gall to tell you who you are. These people live in their own minds and their emotions are their reality...steer clear of any of these people.
To many people in the U.S all that matters to them are two issues, 1. that you represent their views and beliefs and if not that, than 2. that you work full time no matter the cost to you nothing else matters to them
I always find it difficult when you meet someone, they act really nice and you get along but then all of a sudden they start getting all weird, go cold and don't pick up the phone to you. In reality if they were a real friend they'd discuss the issue with you and if it's the type of person who stands round in silence getting offended then perhaps it's best for the both you to go your own separate ways.
I currently work with someone like this. We started off enjoying talking to each other and bitching about work and our co workers. I would help her out and she would help me out. She even gave me her old bicycle when i mentioned to her that i wanted to buy my family bikes to have family bike rides.
Then one day it was no more good mornings. Then the atitude started emerging when i would arrive to work. Then the attitude started to turn verbally/physically. Now i just ignore her and just do my job and expect (and hope) that she does her job as well.

I have zero friends. I haven't made a single friend since I got sober. My parents are the only people that voluntarily spend any time with me. I am so alone. It used to hurt, but now I'm so used to it that I don't really know if I want to be around people anymore.
So sorry to hear your experience in your sobriety. I became sober about 30 yrs ago and lost"friends" including family. My husband and I rarely socialize. Even in my 70s I am told I can't be any fun because I don't drink. 🤷♀️. It used to bother me but I got over it. I volunteer with animals...lol they don't care if we drink or not. Stay strong. Try some volunteer work if you get the opportunity. Be grateful for your clarity and pray for those who are to stupid to see the good in you.
Hey buddy. You are valuable. A persons self esteem partially comes from their own thoughts of themselves what they think that others think about them and how they behave.
For suure you are valuable,somebody who needs a hug can curl up to you and get hugged. You can give food if you feel like volunteering.
My perspesctive is even if you do some nonsense. That might be non productive or not beneficial action. But that does not make you any less valuable and for fucking sure less lovable.
If i was there id give you a big hug. (And be available for a hug whenever youd like one)
Go to meetings, go be around people that are living life happy without drugs or alcohol whatever your drug of choice was. I have 30 years and that's what I did. I wish you serenity. The people get you they felt the same way. ❤

Omg. Totally me. This demon assigned to me hasn't left. I'm 42 yrs old now. My whole life, I've been dealing with people who become jealous of me, created false rumors about me and even obsess over me and my personal private life, and I don't have much, or gorgeous looks, or college educated. I keep to myself, and still, people hate me for no reason. If there is a "reason," it's from their own lies about me. I think I'm cool with everyone but end up hated and people turn against me. I felt like I lived in a cave my whole life, but now I've become a prisoner in my own home. Totally makes sense. Even people from church and my own community. I even have stalkers who are aware of what they are doing and I'm sure there are some people who aren't aware of what they are doing to me. No one tells them the truth. No one speaks up.
