Yeah rep x Pepin version seems pretty cool. I did notice that the Pepin ones have a 38mm handle vs the rep ones being 34mm. Very minor difference. I do like the fact that ours are made in Canada instead of China. Still though, such a great collaboration.
@@keith606 you’re right, I remember coop saying that but I see that are 34.5mm I sent a message to David about the structural differences between the two, here’s what he said “Hi Josh, Thank you for your email. You have a good question. The 3 bolts design was my idea in regards to the aluminium 5/8'' plates that are 1 of the main part of the handle frame. As aluminium and steel don't have the same technical property, 3 bolts were needed, so they just put 3 bolts on the entire construction. If you look closely at the warranty, dropping on a purpose isn't recommended at all at REP and neither by myself. If a customer tells me that he needs to drop his dumbbells on every workout, I always suggest the use of a thick crash pad. As we know that even non-adjustable will eventually break over time, those are simply logical recommendations. The handle on my product is made out of a solid piece of steel machined. REP has to use a tube to save on weight. But still has been intensively dropped to ensure its strength. I've overbuilt my Canadian version, which is mainly why it weighs 20lbs. I hope that answers your question. Feel free if there's anything else.”
Dylan, make sure also the gap set in between eaxh stack of 10 plates is set according to the procedure on my website. There's no reason for the handle to get stuck. Also all the male dovetails parts are solid steel coated with black cerakote, no UHMW, same as REP will do on our REP x Pépin version.
How often do you use the 5 pound added weights or do you ever set one side of the selector to something like 40lbs and the other side to 30lbs to get 35lbs? If so how does it feel in hand?
I beg the wife to let me get the old ones she said heck no not at $2000+ dollars iv been secretly saving up to buythem and then this come out i just order my 125lbs set. I do have some old power blocks that i will keep at my computor so on lazy days ill still do some reps lol. I went with rep because of the life time warranty and the price yes is higher than the rest but should last for life I hope I can buy two more handles and two more cradles so I can split the sets up so my wife can have half
Honestly so glad they’re putting these out. I wanted them when they first came out, now I’m 50/50 bc I already bought some But I’m glad for those who have it as an option
Looks like they made some improvements and dropped the price, what's not to like! Still a little pricey and the 5 pound increments are going to be a little annoying - but it is a no brainer if you are in need of over 80 pounds. They did get a step closer to perfecting the adjustable dumbbell.
I’m pretty sure your pepins are v2, I believe v1 had the flat side rail and v2 has the rounded sides like yours do. Basement Brandon reviewed v1 and Coop reviewed v2. Great comparison video!
It's not UHMW its metal ends btw
Damn thanks
For sure! I use my platemate magnets on them which is how I know.@@FitnessNews24
All steel ! Yep !

Regarding the handle diameter, Pepin website states 34.5mm and Rep shows 34mm. Coops review stated 38 mm as you said for the Pepin. Was he mistaken?
?😊

@@Mic-ok7oj hey that’s true you could technically do that
When setting up to go heavy on DB bench, how does the UHMW ends feel on your thighs? I have only ever used fully flat dbs before. Thanks!

Ah ok weird yeah mine came in a bit later than those guys
Reps molds are cleaner than pepin
I think everything is actually CNC not molds which is why it looks cleaner.
