Squat racks are significantly cheaper and take up way less room. I figure If I get a Squat rack + a sturdy power tower, I have more money for weights/ chains. I bolt everything into the cement. Add a landmine attachment for the barbell with a handle for rows and curls and all sorts of lifting.. The only thing more I could ever want but don't reeeeeally need is a functional trainer.

fuk yeah they are. Have had my northern lights bench set for 20+ years. Working out literally whenever I want and love that I can just do some random shit and get a quick pump anytime needed. Paid $650 for a great setup in year 2001 that I bet I could sell for $1000 today. Timing was right as gyms were getting really popular at the time so some people were offloading gym equipment for cheap. Plus stuff was much cheaper back then also. Would still rather spend up to $4k today on a good setup. Dont bother now because ive added little things to my gym and I dont need anything more.

1000% yes. I have a 5 month old baby to take care of so driving to the gym is not an option. Owning a home gym pays off after 3-10 years for mid tier equipment depending what you spent. I also don't talk to anyone at the gym, I only socialize with friends and family when they come over to workout. I workout way more now at home than I did at the public gym. I like working out in my underwear and playing whatever music I want with no headphones. I also like owning equipment and even when I buy something I don't use a lot I still can usually make most of money back or a small profit reselling it. So potentially long term if reselling it holds true in 30+ years then I'll have spent no money or even made money by owning my own stuff.

Random thoughts: - ceiling height. I cannot do standing OH stuff, so I miss oly lifts. Then again, many globo gyms don't allow them anyway. - budget, proximity, time and quality of gym. If I could afford a nearby Starting Strength, power lifting or oly gym, had the time, the money, I could see myself joining if coaching was good. - multitasking. Home gym does indeed allow for spread out, grease-the-groove style training throught the day Good for work-from-homers. - gear: finding out that for now I have bought too much, like adjustable KBs and specialty bars I am not using, along with more junky stuff I bough used, since I am just focusing on barbel work with squat stand and bench. Unused equipment takes up space. - People. Going to a well equipped globo gym used to notivate me (seeing stronger lifters) but ngl, as I age I am disliking people and seeking solitide more, lol. There's no perfect answer, and it depends on outlook and on making the best of what one does have, whether it's litetally a local Planet Fitness gym, or a top tier home gym.

I think you're spot on that in reality, everyone has a pricetag. If that tag had 7 or 8 digits on it (as what was rumored to be Coop's price), I honestly can't think of many things I wouldn't do for that kind of paycheck since it's literally life changing at that point, generational wealth levels of money. Anyone here saying they couldn't be bought are either lying to themselves, or are already in the 1% by other means. That being said, I never really watched his stuff in the first place. I was using positively ancient equipment up until there was a failure/accident that made me realize I needed new, and only start looking about a year ago. I learned very quickly that I did NOT want anything Rogue, and GGR was pushing those products very hard, so I just skipped his stuff when I was looking for reviews. I found Gluck, VintagePGH, GymCrafter, and other smaller channels that talked either ideas on how to build out or gave reviews that felt more honest to me. That being said and going back to the initial point, no one would have offered that much money to Coop if he hadn't already built a strong media presence with a dedicated following, and that took years of dedication and earning trust from millions of people. Yeah, he's not my cup of tea, but he is for far more people than not so best of luck to him!

Benching is real the only place I want heavier dumbbells. I can row heavy with plate loaded bars and use my plates. (My job makes my Dumbell row high) I really am going to try to work out more with less weight even if I can do more. Just to see if I can avoid injury. i mean, i'm not a hulk, i'm 5'8", 135, just have a smaller frame and I'm not sure I'll ever get up above 60. the Quickdraw's seemed to be the best deal, and i was otherwise looking at sets as low as 50, bc once i get up that high it'll be years down the road, if ever. so i guess you sorta alluded to it, but IMO (and you seem to run a good channel, don't take this as anything but constructive crit, i appreciate anyone saying anything negative about these atm, i need to hear their downsides) kinda gave a confused statement w "a 60lb adjustable dumbbell, although a good budget-friendly option for the general fitness enthusiast, probably doesn't make sense for most ppl." It just seems a bit contradictory, bc "most ppl" and "general enthusiast" don't seem too dissimilar. But maybe your target demo is more bodybuilders, I guess? Is that the distinction I'm missing? I find he pushes on Rogue/American made way more than most do, but all in all - he breaks things down pretty well. Lots of flak being sent his way for not attending Home Gymcon, and instead going to Germany, but if If someone told me I could go to Germany for work, and get paid, wouldn't you? I feel people try to make him into an enemy - and maybe he is, I would never know, but I see him as just doing his job. He says in his reviews that he is not being paid for it, so I take that at his word and hope it's true for transparency's sake. I think there is a lot of grey area on what being "honest" means. Some would consider Gluck's gym to be the most honest, but I think he dwells too much on minute cons and is often way too negative . Every "I like it" ends with a "BUT". I do like Gluck, but just using him to portray the contrast. Coop is excited and actually comes across like he likes the equipment. In light of his channel being corporate owned, I get the cynicism, but he still mentions cons and will mention things that he doesn't like. Like someone mentioned here, his criticism has driven companies to change. But more often than not, these products are great, and there is no need to blow out of proportion that the knurling is 10% more spaced out than this other one. I think the key to his channel's success is top notch production value and the fact that enthusiasm he brings. I would not want him to "be honest" if that means he'll become like every other home gym reviewer and shit on everything and never be happy.

He’s super knowledgeable, seems nice and genuine, but I do like some entertainment. Gluck reeled me in with flashes of his wife……and kept me with his humor. Now glucks is seemingly getting commercialized and maybe a little forced. I keep hoping this channel gets bigger! I get it, the point is to sell out. I’m happy for people that make it. My main content I consume is gun stuff, and just like gym stuff…….when someone get big enough to get paid……the channel loses some of its original flavor. Again, I’m happy for them. I just start watching less. Coop was never my favorite, but he did get me watching gym content. Except this one…..I am a boom beacher that got me over here.
