There's something curious about Bioshock's story that I find very interesting: You play as a man who has nothing. No name, no family, no history, no home and basically no free will. And through the game you work for and against two men who have or have had everything. Ryan, who became rich out of luck and who built Rapture and was basically its God for a time, and Atlas/Fontaine, who came from nothing and built an empire. You're basically the pawn used by a King to usurp another. The one choice, the only true choice you have in the game (outside of the meta-choice of "not playing") is to show mercy to a small group of people who are as much pawns in a greater game as you are. And if you choose to show mercy, to spare their lives even though at first glance it would have been more advantageous for you to just kill them, if you choose not to abuse those at your mercy like the ones controlling you are, at the end of it all you're the one having everything. A god was killed, and king was brought low, and then there was you. A man who came from nothing and made his own history, who found a family for himself and at the end of his days died peacefully of old age, surrounded by loved ones. Three men started their stories with nothing. The first got lucky, found petrol in his backyard and went on to build and be King of a great city, but had to watch his city burn and died at the hands of a slave. The second man worked hard and built an empire of crime, and used a slave to kill the King and become King himself, and tried to become a God, but he was killed by slaves. And then there is you, whose only choice was to show mercy to children or not.

Hey, I did this challenge just on my own like 6 or 7 years ago. Other than the very first guy you have to kill with a wrench you can do the whole thing plasmids only! You can kill that second splicer in the water, you need to zap the water itself, not the splicer. Those little planters in the room with the elevators have water you can kill the splicers with electro bolt with too.
Are you talking about the original or the remaster? The very first splicer takes contact damage from the burning bench he pushed downstairs (it doesn't set him on fire though). The room with the one-two punch splicer has 3 puddles (1 near the window and 2 next to the airlock you just went through). Zapping the first one results in electric effects, but those don't stun or damage the splicer. The other 2 puddles aren't even considered water, so zapping them is the same as zapping the floor.

I heard some really good opinions about this game, and even thought about playing it myself. Thanks to you, i'm not gonna. Don't get me wrong, i loved watching, and i don't mind spoilers, it's just that i can't stand playing something even remotely scary. Didn't realize it's like that beforehand. Sooo... thanks for letting me experience it
I used to be that way as well but I slowly eased my way into stuff and BioShock was one of those firsts, yes there's some creepy jump scary type parts but it's less scary and more creepy/unnerving 99% of the time, plus you have stuff like shotguns that blow enemies away in a hit or two.
I imagine that this was actually a build that they had in mind when designing the game, at least vaguely. You can think of the game as having three "classes" in the form of Guns, Hacking, and Plasmids. While it's unusual to use one over the others exclusively, most problems are designed to be solvable with just one of the three. What also helps is that Bioshock heavily values "player-made solutions". Problems often aren't designed with just one solution in mind, the player is allowed to make up their own solutions to problems.
Validated parking is when you park in a paid parking garage or something. You then go into a store and do your shopping or get your massage or whatever, and they either refund you your parking fee or give you a coupon to get out of the parking garage, that kind of thing.

@@pendarazaripoor4296 At the hardest difficulty you can literally just beat big daddies to death with the freeze wrench and just swinging till they die. It's honestly kinda funny that the melee weapon in 1 and 2 were the best weapon
I remember how much I loved BioShock when it first came out. Maybe it's time to replay them again
After seeing this, I will say that when you do the Wrench Only run, Bolt is totally allowed to give the extra damage on the stunned hit, since when not used on water, it does no damage. Plus, it'll help with more annoying versions of Splicers like Spiders.
Plus, I like the thought of Lemon just 1-2-Punching everything in the game after hitting them with the equivalent of a static shock.
Mitten Squad (rip) did an awesome run.
I absolutely love the look of bioshock, the story and Atlantis inspired city combine into an absolute banger of a game
Theres a lot of interesting lore. Especially the prelude to the rapture civil war
And also a heavy criticism of the libertarian ideology, with major hints like Andrew Ryan being an semi-anagram of Ayn Rand
"Oh, there you are", someone tell me why it gets a chuckle out of me everytime he says it.
Oh nice! I feel like the Bioshock games are a relatively untapped market for challenge runs
Check out some speedruns for the game, those are insane
Okay but this is so wonderfully timed. I just recently restarted the bioshock series as a fun nostalgia trip during streams and finished bioshock 1 last night. Glad to see this from an amazing content creator. Hats off to you, Lemon, for the wonderful timing.
This is an excellent way to begin the weekend, really like your videos man 😁
Great video man! I remember beating the game at the time with a wrench only (and plasmids..)
One of my all time favourites
Keep up the good work!
My name's Andrew and him saying hi Andrew early in the video while I was trying to sleep scared the shit outta me
I love Bioshock, thank you for reminding me how good of a time it was and how much fun I had as a kid. Would love if you played some more of the games!!
Dude, I only JUST reinstalled the Bioshock Collection. How did you know I was gonna do that? What? How?
Yo same! I’m near the end of the first. It aged so well honestly
I have Bioshock 1 installed, the original. With EAX. And a CRT monitor at 1440x1080@80. =P
@@zors5188 No no no, I mean 'just' as in seventeen minutes ago. Spooky levels of recent
@@senseweaver01 oh snap haha
@@zors5188 Yeah! I'm feeling nervous and concerned and... a bit hungry actually
Honestly thank god you were so sweet to the little sisters, honestly no matter how evil i want to be, no matter what game, once i hit bioshock, i just cant bring it to hurt the little sisters, god bless you dog i know those little girls are equally as happy
I like the background music. Spelunky was a good game as well as bioshock
this is my favorite game of all time, im so glad people still play it
You know I really wish I could re live this game for the first time all over again I absolutely fell in love with it. Sander Cohen was my favorite character for just how creepy he was and I loved finding the secret areas like his wild bunny recording. And then the whole Atlas/Fontaine reveal I remember that blew my teenage brain. Never could bring myself to harvest the little sisters tho I did once and felt so bad I restarted the entire level.
I definitely feel that. I could never harvest the little sisters. I did once on accident because I hit the reload button (same as harvest button) not thinking about it after just killing the BD. I had to restart the whole level because I just didn't want to do that.
I love Bioshock sooo much. Almost as much as I love interacting with videos so the algorithm gives em some love
The fact its 2022 and this game still looks so great that it would hold against many titles today shows how 2007 was different from the gaming. Hell the telekinesis and fire still looks amazing.
Edit: For people saying "remaster" I didnt knew he had it, as I believed he is still playing original because of the way Jack hands look.
Well to be fair, this seems to be the remastered version from 2016. Still, a game with strong style and presentation for sure.
Somehow, it’s dated presentation gives it a unique look
Something I heard once was that graphics age but style doesn't
@@Blandy8521 that's a good line dude
@@fib900 sort of ads to the vintage style

“So long as you’re observant…”
He says as he walks over a burning corpse twice, taking damage.
You used the wrench to knock on Peach’s door. Invalid run! Thanks for the video, love your content.
I literally just beat the entire series and have been watching videos relating to it. impeccable timing
The bioshock ending while saving lil sisters is one of the most wholesome ending in games they all get married but still are there when jack is on death bed because their lives was essentially gave back to them by him so they love and care for him until the end ... perfect daughters big dadies are proud girls !
12:58 "I can't ham it up that hard" Nicholas Cage' own brand of fine ham is difficult to emulate
Bro I literally finished bioshock 1 yesterday and started bioshock 2 today, wat a wizard
holy shit me too but i did it 2 days ago after having it in my steam lib for years xd
@@StarkiiL I guess everyone just had the urge to play BioShock right now
Man I love this game. Bioshock was my first game during the Wii/360/PS3 generation and it still holds up. A true masterpiece.
14:40 Last time I played through Bioshock 1, I got stuck here for literally 30 minutes... I eventually noticed the elevator button like you, and I didn't look up the answer. (I had too much pride to look up the answer online, I've beaten the game probably around 6-8 times, so I forced myself suffer the elevator button.)
The backlogs + Bioshock is the surprise I needed
With the addition of incinerate, lemons has become INCENDIARY LEMONS
I was never more proud of a stranger than when you picked save little sisters even though it made it harder to play 😂
A challenge run UA-camr that actually has human feelings? Never thought I'd live to see such a creature,Ya earned a sub my friend
The Torvus bog subterranean theme is my absolute favorite, I’m so happy that you include such lovely songs in your videos
this was a great video! I'm enjoying the branching out content wise. keep up the good work:3
That comedic abridged first person narration through the intro alone got me to sub
Lemon is so good in his narrative and spinning little stories inside the stories. his channel has become addictive for that sole fact alone.
Sooo... thanks for letting me experience it
It's scary until you realize you can blow every enemy away!
I used to be that way as well but I slowly eased my way into stuff and BioShock was one of those firsts, yes there's some creepy jump scary type parts but it's less scary and more creepy/unnerving 99% of the time, plus you have stuff like shotguns that blow enemies away in a hit or two.
I concur with your conclusion, I really didn't mess with plasmids in any of the games and thinking about it I'm not even sure why that is.
Well, you missed the optional Cohen room area, and the chance to watch two splicers waltz.
BIOSHOCK MAN that is one of my favorite game i really love this game. sooo nostalgic
the timing for this video is amazing. i just finished bioshock 1! i loved lookin for tapes to learn more about rapture and its past
I love the Bioshock series, especially 2. I’d love to see more. Maybe a drill only run for 2?
I had an idea, bioshock 2, but you can only use big dady weapons"drill and nailgun"
To easy, body slams only is the true challenge.
The Rivetgun is one of the best weapons in the game lmao.
Validated parking is when you park in a paid parking garage or something. You then go into a store and do your shopping or get your massage or whatever, and they either refund you your parking fee or give you a coupon to get out of the parking garage, that kind of thing.
I'm rewatching this video after a while, and it is pure gold. Every joke lands perfectly! great work. :3
I've heard a lot of "Not the Bees!" impressions but that was honestly pretty good. The scream was very similar
I’ve got to say I love your intro. “Hey it’s Lemon” Idk your tone and the simplicity just makes me smile
2:42 you CAN but its like ten times less efficient than intravenous injection, and given how limited ADAM is as a resource, it's much more cost efficient this way. (see Vigors vs. Plasmid debate)
yep that's how drugs work here too brother
The Hotline Miami music is the icing on the cake. Now I want to replay Bioshock AND Hotline Miami.
I am going to have to buy the remaster and do another playthrough of this. Really takes me back.
Love this franchise.
I remember this being on my 360 that I got used, started playing up to the elevator part, got to rapture, saw one splicer, and noped out of the game and never played it again!
I was completely convinced this was a horror game.
If I remember right, on the xbox 360 they had an achievement to beat the game with just the wrench, which was considered a difficult challenge at the time. But this was fun experiencing this nostalgia again.
Good luck with a Bioshock 2 run. Bioshock Infinite “plasmids” only might be too much to ask you to put yourself through.
Humorous commentary in a challenge video. Now I remember why I liked your videos.
Lmao I had the same issue with the elevator call button in Sander's area. You're not alone my guy, I spent half an hour wandering around.
Another excellent video - and blew my mind using Wario Land 2 water level music near the start! Thought I recognised it, oh the nostalgia...
Lemon , your jokes are just too hilarious ,”hey that man is on fire” i don’t wanna ser every game you try , but wanna see every video you upload
You should have explained what plasmids are and what problems going plasmid only might cause. like how you explained the pros and cons of xcom units or darksouls weapons
glad that in 2022 there are still people who records bioshock games
Hollow Knight and Bowser's Inside Story music in the same video... and it's a Lemon video?
That just made my dy so much better...
I don’t know why this episode landed so hard. Not sure if it was bioshock or if your comedy was just on point but this episode was just amazing dude. I’d love to see more bioshock ok though!
Bruh, I love your commentary.
"Oh wait, my mistake. They had screaming memories of my family inside. I didn't know they still sold those..."
Fucking. Dead. 😅😅😅
I'm trying a build centered around drill specialist in Bioshock 2 and it's so fun. I love the RPG elements in these games.
It's part of what frustrated me with Infinite was the new clothing system drastically limited how you could creatively build your style of gameplay and had less variety overall. I wish in the remaster they altered the game to allow more rpg building and also brought back the weapon wheel the 2 weapon slots only deal was such a stupid idea imo as it took away a lot of the creativity you had in the first 2 games with how you could approach combat.
Neat to see all of the plasmids and upgrades I don't normally or have never used.
The "Press Start To Laugh" similarities are all over the place, and I'm here for it.
This is the first “challenge” run I ever made as a preteen. I remember going through almost everything in this video. I’ve only sparsely done a challenge run in certain games whenever I was in the mood/had the motivation but this brings back so many memories. I never even noticed that fire would spread from mob to mob so this even gave me some strategic envy😂
I love this game so much and I love how people are still playing this and still making videos about this even though I know it’s gonna happen but I still love this game it’s so good
Just noticed the Spirit Tracks music in the background. I loved that game
Stumbled upon your channel by chance, as I love challenge videos.
Instantly subscribed, really love your delivery and humour.
Ahh good old bioshock... Time to dump a chunck of time into my childhood and become a walking candle that burns everything by accident. Great vid Lemon
17:13 gave me chills because that's my name and you said it so naturally
MegaMan 8 song! I loved that game. Glad to see someone else that likes its music!
Certainly one of the best videos I have seen lately, thanks for the laffs man, also really well put strategy.
> splicer is healing at the health station
That's what you get for not hacking literally everything you find
Meh I just break those. Free aid kits too.
14:50 i didnt see the button ether it was so relatable
Would you kindly do Bioshock 2 too?
really loving the metroid prime 2 soundtrack in the background, Lemon
Bioshock!? One of my favourite series ever. Loved it and hope you do Bioshock 2 later down the road
Loved the "Girl from Impanema" rendition in the Bathosphere, Lemon!
