Also in borderland 1 there is no loot tables everything can spawn anywhere but pearls they can only drop from general nox chests or raid boss from its dlc
honestly Mordecai was a good choice, because of one skill, Lethal strike. Because of how spaghetti coded the game is, when you level the skill instead of it dealing from 150%(it's not correct in the skill page) to 1350% extra damage based on level it actually can stack upon itself dealing a range of 1350% to 6750% more damage. Stack a gun does has +150% melee attachment, and the 90% increase to all melee damage and finally a class mod that allows lethal strike to get to level 9, which will also provide an increase to all melee damage, it can possibly do enough damage especially if you consider that melee scales with level.
@@TheBacklogs The only chokepoint that might be an issue is that I'm fairly sure Mad Mel can instakill players by running them over. Not sure if that's just due to level/hp amounts or if they removed this mechanic in the other version but there's that
4:30 That's the BL1 accuracy stat for you. Because this is an RPG every gun, including snipers, have an accuracy stat that determines the odds that a shot may veer from the reticle. Aiming helps and snipers have great base accuracy, but even then they are beholden to the almighty STATS There's more to it, because of course there is, but that's the main reason I believe
Indeed, as far as I know, only one sniper rifle in the game is 100% accurate. Of course it's also supposedly the rarest sniper rifle in the game, and exists only in Armory of General Knoxx.
@@andylaw3222don’t forget that the infinite time glitch for the armory is still prevalent in the GOTY edition. So you have all the time in the world to loot the living hell out of Knoxx’s armory.
they did fix this in bl2 onward, they made snipers basically all have no reticle drift when aimed down sights, they instead made sniper's accuracy stat effect weapon sway instead, so 100% accurate but a low accuracy sniper is like aiming drunk. This also made stuff like the hyperion gimmick actually decent, since you basically had zero sway and min recoil if you ads for long enough and stay ads till reload.
4:20 Borderlands 1 has Weapon levels, if you're "bad" with a weapon (level 1,2) your accuracy is significantly worse - even if you're on target, you can miss.
But isn’t mordecai a sniper? Isn’t that a weapon he should be proficient with? I haven’t played BL1 in a long time, I genuinely don’t remember any of this…
@@DanteYewToob The guns also have an accuracy stat. It shows up on every weapon he looks at, but it seems lemon forgot how to read when making this video. BL1 and BL2 have a lot of differences in how the weapons and scaling work, and most people remember BL2.
If you were to retry this, I would reccomend ditching the sniper in favour of a masher revolver. I once got a level 11 legendary Anaconda Masher and it one shot enemies all the way to level 69 lol. Also several skills are indeed bugged, I'm not certain which ones but some are bugged in your favour. For example Mordecai's lethal strike can stack for insane damage. Some weapons which would help are the Gearbox guns added by the Enhanced Edition. The Silent Night sniper has 800% crit damage and the Sucker Punch pistol has 500% melee damage to combo with lethal strike. (Melee weapons can also crit) Also checkout Joltzdude's Borderlands 1 runs, he often one shots most early game bosses just because of how he plays, I'm sure you'd learn a lot. I just know this run has to be possible.
Highly recommend the masher style pistols. They shoot seven rounds per trigger pull and with Mordecai's skill Gun Crazy that can double to 14. The Jakobs Unforgiven legendary can be a masher and deals 200% critical damage. Revolvers are also one of the best weapon types for elemental damage and always proc the element, so a Dahl Anaconda masher can absolutely ruin most of the game.
I don't know that it's possible to one shot everything, but it'd be interesting to try completing the game and seeing how many things can be one shot. Maybe other challenges like like intentionally using a crappy gun or only using skills (once available). I know I've seen runs in those veins.
Masher style weapons really are ridiculous in Borderlands 1. I remember in my first playthrough, I got an SMG maybe halfway through the game that fired either x2 or x3 bullets per-bullet _and_ had an effect that passively regenerated SMG ammo. It wasn't even a unique drop, it was just a normal SMG, but almost nothing else I found throughout the rest of the game could even compete with it and it kinda made the loot system feel like a joke
Fun fact, borderlands 3 does have an anti oneshot mechanic. Bosses get invincibility after x amount of damage, stopping extra damage from going through
@@jameskaazaeros7087 didn’t know that lol. Do all bosses have this anti one shot mechanic? I swear I one shot at least one of the first bosses because I was power leveled from playing with friends before playing my first mission.
There is actually a site that catalogues all the weapons and has the ID codes to spawn them in with a save editor. It tells you EXACTLY where you get the guns at and the drop chances. That being said there is a reason most challenge runs are done with Borderlands 2. Borderlands 1 was an experience more than a game, Borderlands 2 was a game as well as an experience. That's it, there is nothing else in the series that anyone talks about.
it's exactly that reason why the first one brings me back constantly while 2 or 3 doesn't. I love them, don['t get me wrong, I will play them over again, but in comparison, the first is just that unique blend of janky and fun that it tickles my brain. I've probably 3 or 4000 hours more in 1 than 2 or 3 combined.
I tried BL3 one shot but the big issue is Shiv. He has alot of health and even farming enemies before Shiv to lvl 6 for 2 and a half hours was only enough for half health. Maybe if you were able to farm to lvl 12 it would be possible with Zane but I don't have the sanity to farm that long
MASSIVE props for being the first "Can you" challenge runner I've ever seen to just give an honest "No you cannot". Gets old fast seeing endless lists of "can you X" where the answer is always "yeah" and the titles feel like clickbait
Or they just glitch like crazy or use exploits and still consider it done. I don’t care that much about the actual challenges, I watch backlogs and Nerbit mostly just for the fun and hijinks… to me the challenge is just an excuse for fun hijinks, so I don’t care if you have to fudge the rules here and there or just admit it can’t be done. I much prefer that to the lazy “challenge” runners who just copy all of the easy challenges that have been done a hundred times, glitch like crazy, or act super dramatically about how crazy difficult it all is… omg.. sooOo hard! Such pr0 g4merz… lol These are meant to be fun, it’s fine to just say it’s not possible or bend the rule if you have to in order to progress the game! (I’m referring to all of the pedantic weenies who say challenges are void because you HAVE to shoot a roach or something for story reasons to continue the game. So annoying.)
This challenge is actually free, just use a Jakobs. If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs! Also! Mordecai's Lethal Strike skill has a funny little bug attached to it. You know how it's a chance to do up to 500% damage on a melee strike? Well, if you land that chance, it rolls again. And again. Aaaaand again. As many times as you're lucky is how much damage you do, and melee damage scales with your level, unlike your guns. I think this is possible, unless there's a boss you can't melee. Combine this with the Gearbox Sucker Punch pistol with it's 500% melee multiplier, and you might just be able to pull it off, if you're unhinged enough to roll the dice that many times.
I have multiple thousand of hours in borderlands 1 and 2 and it's great seeing somebody that doesn't know much about the game playing and doing a challenge. In hopes that you do another Borderlands challenge I don't wanna give suggestions and want to see you figure out everything for yourself but if you do need help I'd love to help.
Dude I have the same kind of time in it but I've never done challenges I just love these games, except for the 3rd and Tiny TInas (I did love this one until I saw the DLC)
@@Animeaniac215 yeah the bl1 dlc is bad imo but it is an old game lol. TPS is really good imo as well but there’s almost no content the story is Ok and the dlc is super good imo
@@Animeaniac215 oh also if u wanna try and fun challenge in BL2 you should do axton turret and gernades only. If you get 2 turrets and nukes in TVHM and max CD u can throw your turrets and grab em and have a nuke build it’s super fun!
For future reference you should look into the Orbit Achieved exploit. You can park a car at the very tip of the ramp near Fyrestone and if you switch from driver to passenger, sit there for about 10-20 seconds, get out of the car, get behind it and melee while looking up to LAUNCH it into the air, as soon as you land boom mass amounts of xp early. If you want EVEN more you can complete the first 3 missions in the Knoxx dlc without fighting a single enemy and since that DLC is supposed to be done at the end of whatever playthrough you are on its really high level and gives a ton of XP. There are also a LOT of chests in the starting area of the Knoxx dlc so you can go around looting those and stack up a bunch of money, if you farm it for long enough you can get almost max sdus and you will get challenges done for selling things and opening chests. I do this pretty much everytime I play BL1 and for the most part you can get to 13-14 if you farm long enough while not fighting a single thing. I keep adding more to this but you can also farm the Machines in the Moxxi DLC because after certain story missions the DLCs will scale up with you. IF YOU ARE FARMING THIS BE SURE TO WAIT UNTIL THE SAVE QUIT MENU SAID THAT IT WILL SAVE WHEN YOU QUIT. I do not know why but in BL1 if you save quit too soon after going in it will NOT save but it does tell you in the save quit menu if it will or not.
I legit started tweaking AT 1:40 when he said "Will we make it to the end? Probably not" BECAUSE THEN THE VIDEO IMMEDIATELY ENDED AND I WAS LIKE HOW DID HE SEND ME TO THE END OF THE VIDEO???? But I took like a minute to realize my cat stepped on the button that sends you to the end of the video.
coming from someone who kinda knows the game back and forth i do feel you were at the mercy of pure RNG, the only way i can see the run getting better is getting lucky and finding one of the couple OP legendaries in the game and hoping for the best, bit still the fact you made it that far is really freaking impressive!
Ask the Borderlands community next time you do this type of challenge we would be glad to help. As for tips if you were to try this again according to the one pull of a trigger rule you could have killed moterhead for the chopper that has like 500 shots that fire with one button press, or ues leathal strike (even though it's RNG) and instead of cheating lvs, you could do the merchant of death glitch. Also for early game Roland would be fun trying to one shot using the super grenade jump but for DMG instead with an on lv longbow grenade (the grenade dupes when thrown at the bace of the turret) but the turret will shoot witch might undermine the challenge. Low-key want to attempt this myself to see if it's possible even with the strats.
Borderlands guns have an accuracy stat, which affects how big of a cone the bullets can shoot in when you pull the trigger. Unsurprisingly, snipers have the highest accuracy, but unless that accuracy is 100, theres still a cone that your bullet could be anywhere in. I know this because i actually did the math when i was in high school to figure out how much i could miss a target by based on how far away it was. I then realized it was useless because i had no sense of scale and thus no idea how many feet away something was in game, and i felt like an idiot having wasted an hour on that.
I can confirm this is possible in borderlands 2 I went from normal mode all the way through UVHM. It'd be interesting to see if you can do it on someone other than Sal though, since I'm pretty convinced it's not possible
It's cool seeing someone more casual from outside the community doing BL challenges. Borderlands games are so spaghetti that almost everything is possible, it's very fun to find new things and exploit everything
You are not crazy, don't worry! The scopes in this game are way off center and those obvious shots that end up missing happen all the time XD. Loved th vid btw, was a lot of fun :)
There is one benefit to Moxxi's Underdome DLC: If i recall correctly, vendors there are always scaling up to player's levels. Which helps with equipment farming.
Hi mate, for potentially future runs, my go to strategy in the early game is to use the Moxxi dlc for the vendors, they're very close to the spawn point and usually have some decently levelled loot. Besides the first dlc missions, some other stuff you could do for some easy xp is Conveyor of Death, kill the skags and raks on and around the way to 9 toes, Orbit Achieved which you can do easily by going to the ramp on the middle of the first map, drive so the car remains stuck with every wheel in the air, wait 5 seconds, switch to the turret sit, get out, melee the car to send it flying because they're made of paper, and spam e to get in as it's flying, if done right you should get it. And one last thing, Mordecai's lethal strike skill is bugged and can randomly stack a lot, so with a weapon with a melee attachment (I think the bonus melee weapons and the speed may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and from one kind of weapon to another) and a bit of luck for the skill to stack a lot, you can do A LOT of damage. Hope this helps, love your videos, wish you nothing but good luck :)
Shotguns, Lemon! Those still benefir from most of Mordecai skills and have much more basic damage than snipers. You can oneshot that car with close-up shotgun shot with caustic damage. You can even find burst-fire shotguns. It means, many shots on one press of a button. You CAN one shot that car!
Lemon: puts nothing into the skill that boosts sniper accuracy significantly, and doesn't check the accuracy on a weapon before changing to it. Also Lemon: "Why aren't my bullets going where I'm aiming???" For this kind of run, I wouldn't be touching anything under 97 accuracy, especially without that skill. I damn sure wouldn't be going as low as 94%, as you're going to see that 6 out of a hundred far more than you'll think is fair.
I knew i spotted a BL1 reference in a recent video! Third degrees are indeed best taken in shifts after all. EDIT: snipers accuracy stat includes while scoped. All snipers have some amount of variance to their shot. 97 accuracy or above is pretty close the center every time, but below that and you get some crap shots
Honestly the grind and bugs in BL1 are the only things stopping me from going back to it I love the weapon designs and dlc but it's hard to get past some things
I have a weapon that should be able to do your one-shot challenge at least a bit further. So I am not sure where specifically you can get this weapon, but I do have a description of what it does. 1. Its a legendary sniper rifle 2. It shoots 1 shot, but when it hits the ground, it will then "ricochet" and have 3 shots come out. 3. It may be electric, but I don't think that is required (at least mine was electric) If you aim that at the ground just at the feet of the enemy, the shots will bounce up and all 3 hit the enemy. I used this on my old Roland (soldier) play file. That and an explosive Ogre AR. Those two weapons carried me entirely through 90% of a second playthrough of the game despite being first playthrough weapons. I think that specific weapon can win you a one-shot challenge. I think I got both from Knox's vault, but the thing about that vault is they spawn weapons from ANYWHERE in the game. So there is a place where you can find it.
Thank you backlogs whenever I’m having trouble sleeping I go to you. Not cuz you’re a snooze fest just the opposite, I’m always enraptured with a new video, but your calm delivery of things, even hectic hard stuff just soothes me in my own hectic life and puts me out. Your channel has been my sleep aid for like 2 years now and I can’t thank you enough for putting me out and waking up fresh for work. You deserve every view asleep me has given you and I hope you have profited in some small way from my nightly views. I’ve never even played a dark souls game, but I’ll always fall asleep to a backlogs run.
I hope this run didn't kill any future Boarderlands runs. I would love to see more. One shotting end game bosses is usually possible, but you have way more options for builds by then. At least in the later games, i never looked into end game meta for the first one.
One of my favorite playthroughs of Borderlands, I decided to only use revolvers, and I wound up with the same awkward Mordy build. The guardians are pretty satisfying with Trespass and a good Masher.
See that little skit before your sponsor segment makes me want to watch the sponsor segment. I love it when creators actually weave their style into the ad rather than just reading the ad script. Having Tony do the read is always a good time.
Challenge runs are meant to be fun. As soon as you aren't having fun (or the satisfaction of completing the run wanes) that run is fine to be stopped But thank you for the attempt Lemon! I've only ever repeatedly returned to BL2 because BL feels so much like a product of its time
Here's another super obscure mechanic that could help if you ever feel like trying this again, leveling up gives you a massive damage bonus for about a minute. There's zero indication of this anywhere in the game, but you can actually see it happen at 8:23. First skag gets hit for 105, you level up, second gets hit for 266.
I would have expected that the gearbox guns from the enhanced edition would have been your best chance and completing this challenge. Silent night does 800% increased crit damage, Hive Mind does a 3 round burst of rockets per trigger pull, and the Sucker Punch increases melee damage by 500%. With a few golden keys, you could have had these on-level for the whole playthrough.
Little known facts about Bloodwing. -Bloodwing has a hidden "Emotional Support" stat when unlocked that gives a +10 to my mental state which increases in-game accuracy. -There is also a broken stat where I get a +1000% damage boost for 30 minutes along with 10 stacks of the "Depression" trait if Bloodwing dies but since Blood is immortal it never triggers. -Bloodwing isn't just listed as an Endangered species but an 'Endangering Species' -Bloodwing has a 100% resistance to the Explosion element but since Blood is Immortal anyways it doesn't effect gameplay. -Bloodwing is a scary name.
@@imhulki463 What makes you say that? Whoops, sorry. Getting a message on the echonet from Roland. Looks like I'm off to the Hyperion Wildlife Exploitation Preserve. Catch you later Vault Hunter!
Love the video, I would love to see you go through the rest of the series. I know Joltzdude and Killer6 are big challenge runners in the borderlands community and would probably love to help with damage calculations and such in future games!
@Thebacklogs don't you know about the weapon merge glitch?? It's hard to explain but basically if you fill your inventory with useless stuff and lock your weapons, you can hold square (or X) to pick up the weapon you want to use. As you pick it up you use the d pad to select your other weapons and it will apply a glitch that adds all of those weapon effects onto the one you want to use. There are videos that explain and demonstrate better than I can explain it here. There's a gearbox legendary sniper called "Silent Night" that was introduced in the remastered version of Borderlands. That weapons special effect is 800% critical hit damage. So you can merge 3 of them onto any other weapon to give a total of 2400% critical hit damage, PLUS any effects from class mods and skills and whatnot. It's insanity and that'll let you one shot anything except Crawmerax (due to his critical hit spots having separate health pools).
Hearing you call Rakk's "rocks" showed me how truly blind you are going into some of these runs. This is not at all an insult. I love that you think up these crazy challenges. Thank you so much for the content and for being you!
Video game firing reticles since Half Life and the first CS are a randomized dart board, with maybe one or two weapon exception per game (that are always close range). Your "shot" will pass somewhere in the reticle, where though is up to the number generator. Snipy characters will have the shots trend more towards the middle but there is still a hell of allot of empty space towards the middle, especially at range. Then tack on game theme and it goes bonkers (Borderlands is Spaghetti Western + pulpSci with a heavy dose of roulette from what I've seen. Haven't played it since trying to focus on a cell shaded game without getting a migraine is impossible for me).
You inspired me to start doing SnS challenge runs. My first one was poison only, and just recently I finished my very own fists and consumables only run. Keep on doing what you do
I like this sort of video. It's not just 'ah, here's the loophole I'll use for the rest of the run and now here's 40 minutes of me doing that', it's 'here's me doing my utmost best to stretch every mechanic as far as I can to achieve the impossible, even though it won't make it all the way'
As a massive borderlands fan, I concur that in both 1 and 2, movement actually stabilizes the bullets. It makes no sense, but if you ever struggle for a sniper shot, shimmy back and forth and I can guarantee it will be more accurate (99% sure this is because the bullet accuracy itself is a collective, so if you're moving and focusing around one target, the assist can focus on that target as it compensates for the movement which negates the constant sway) Also, Mordy is the GOAT for 1 because his ability to basically negate shields against the Eridians is unparalleled. My first time, I was a tank Roland and STILL the endgame came down to my brother who was a sniper Mordy and absolutely cleared everything with shields, so yeah, Mordecai is kinda broken.
1) Congrats on getting as far as you did! 2) Awesome seeing someone giving the original Borderlands some love 😁 3) Totally down to see an attempt of this in BL2 👌
Hey Lemon, just putting this out there and I'm not sure if your going to read this but thank you for doing these videos. I'm sure it takes a lot of time to get the gameplay and edit everything. There are so many people out there that love you. If you are ever feeling down or sleep just isn't helping anymore maybe you need a break. I recently went through a big change in my life due to stress. It happens but it's the people that support you that get you through. Best of luck man. Hope this helps.
Came to add that using a "masher" revolver might get you better stats, along with getting pistol based bonuses from mordecai tree, as those affect repeaters *and* revolvers. You end up with a higher damage, higher accuracy shotgun that gets bonuses. At level 30 ish, the general Knox dlc chests that you can get to without beating the dlc can drop higher level guns as well, forget if you did that. I saw people mention the lethal strike things, which is definitely an option, but you seem a man who prefers the "i have gotten the raw ability to do the thing" method rather than "i will punch and save quit until it suddenly dies" method
Man, I can't even play these games (due to the art style giving me migraines), and even I never experienced this level of pain trying to play them. Good luck on any future BL runs Lemon
I've been finding new UA-cam channels to scratch the challenge run itch i have in the borderlands franchise. Now one of the greats from soulstube has answered my prayers. Thank you Lemon
First time I audibly laughed at a backlogs title alone. I may not know much of dark souls or salt and sanctuary, but I know borderlands. And this? This is crazed rambling that would worry a psycho.
There is one gun, to my knowledge, that could have saved this run, from the general knoxx dlc- if you could get your hands on it. It's an assault rifle called the Chopper that, when you pull the trigger one time, continues to fire until the gun is empty. Lilith can use this gun w/ her ability to sometimes not use ammo to """"""one-shot""""" the raid boss enemies, so I'm pretty sure Mordecai probably could do the main story with it.
idk if you will see this but as someone who has been obsessed with this series, the many different ways to get extra damage through equipment, shields, guns, levels, and spaghetti code this is surprisingly possible, and if you ever decide to try this with the second game I highly suggest playing Zero with his Bore ability, it makes you able to kill max level enemies with the first weapon in the game.
I’d suggest using Roland and maiming shotguns. I am working on the platinum for the borderlands games and so far his class has helped me one shot a ton of enemies. Haven’t one shotted any bosses but I also haven’t been to busy with early game grinding and mostly did skills related to my turret. That could be the solution Lemon!
I'm honestly surprised that you even attempted anything in the Borderlands franchise. Good showing honestly. I'm a little sad you sounded like you didn't particularly enjoy this run, but I have nostalgia goggles on. Still, great video, enjoyed it and glad you branched out. Instead of a oneshot only challenge... grenades... are kind of just another name for FIRE_BOMBS.
YES! A Borderlands video from backlogs is everything I've ever needed in life, I can die happy now. Bro this was my game I loved this game (me and my mates would get stoned and play this like everyday, couch co-op), still love this game 2nd is the best and well 3rd is kinda shit sadly and then you had Tiny Tinas game, that DLC disgusted me so much I stopped playing it. Can we just get a standard playthrough of Borderlands bro, please! I love this game so much and you playing it triggered my want to play this.
Weapon parts are INSANELY important in BL1. Unlike in later iterations, a right or wrong part on a weapon can completely make or break it. The reason you are seeing the shots sometimes completely miss the target, is because you have a barrel type that's great for damage, but bad for accuracy and will, as you saw, sometimes completely veer your bullet off target. There are generally 5 barrels you can obtain for any individual weapon, the barrel you had there is the worst for accuracy, with the particular stats of +15% Damage/+28% Accuracy Spread/An accuracy penalty of between -20% to +20% per shot/+20% Recoil. The ideal barrel, for perfect accuracy, would have been the barrel that kind of looks like it is an integral suppressor with 2 portholes at the tip. That particular barrel offers: +15% Damage/-130% Accuracy Spread/Accuracy penalty -40% to -150%/ Recoil -50%. Although, this is more the "God roll" barrel for semi-auto rifles. By far the best barrel for this particular challenge imo though, would be the barrel that looks like an anti-material rifle, with a more squared muzzle with 3 portholes. That's the highest damage barrel you can get, and the accuracy is plenty workable with: +30% Damage/-30% Accuracy Spread/Accuracy Pen -10% to -40%/+35% Recoil and it also has a tech boost of +2, which actually gives a significant boost to element DoT too. This is the Bolt-Action god roll barrel. This is just the barrel too, although it's probably the most important part on sniper rifles, there are other parts that make a huge difference too. For example, whether you get/want the aforementioned Semi-auto or Bolt-Action body. You may have a preferred specific sight for zoom and aesthetic. You may want an accessory for a particular element or flat damage boost, etc etc. As I say, parts are so, so important in BL1. If you are going to play it, it's really worth looking for a parts guide and get used to recognising the look of individual parts, or the specific model numbers that certain parts produce, to know what you want to look for in any given weapon.
for some reason, when you said "level desparity" my mind cycled back to the xcom psychic video... "the larger the discrepancy"... i can't say why it did, but here we are...
This challenge is wild! 🤯 I mean, only one shot? That sounds like a speedrun for the brave! Can't wait to see how you handle those bosses-talk about pressure! And honestly, watching you try this makes me wanna grab my controller and jump back into Borderlands myself! 🎮💥
Couple of segments with pure black screen, that doesn't look intentional. 10 seconds ( 3:25 - 3:35 ) 19 seconds ( 6:48 - 7:07) I'll edit if I see any more, but a quick scrub doesn't show any. Great to see this game with so many memories getting some coverage! Whether I loved or not, I've spent a lot of time in the borderlands.

honestly Mordecai was a good choice, because of one skill, Lethal strike. Because of how spaghetti coded the game is, when you level the skill instead of it dealing from 150%(it's not correct in the skill page) to 1350% extra damage based on level it actually can stack upon itself dealing a range of 1350% to 6750% more damage. Stack a gun does has +150% melee attachment, and the 90% increase to all melee damage and finally a class mod that allows lethal strike to get to level 9, which will also provide an increase to all melee damage, it can possibly do enough damage especially if you consider that melee scales with level.

makes sense why its not in BL2, i was wondering why bl1 weapons were broken
(Melee weapons can also crit)
Also checkout Joltzdude's Borderlands 1 runs, he often one shots most early game bosses just because of how he plays, I'm sure you'd learn a lot.
@@Loop_Kat Double Anarchy my beloved
@@wolfstar124 Ah, yeah, that was the modifier. Anarchy our beloved, indeed
Thankfully most don't, just lategame/dlc bosses mostly have it.
@@kalebdavis7080 ok thanks. I wasn’t sure if I was just misremembering one shotting some bosses
i mean i get it but its still stupid mechanic to have but it does make the player have to do mechanics atleast
As someone who has one shot literally every boss in BL3 by farming remnant orb interactions, you're wrong.
Do you remember the site name to help Lemon find it?
It's... loot lemon
it's exactly that reason why the first one brings me back constantly while 2 or 3 doesn't. I love them, don['t get me wrong, I will play them over again, but in comparison, the first is just that unique blend of janky and fun that it tickles my brain. I've probably 3 or 4000 hours more in 1 than 2 or 3 combined.
@@bloodalchemy The save editor for BL2 that I use is Gibbed BL2 v256. And the Sparfire's imgur list, which has the codes for the gear.
Honestly, yeah. Everyone knows of the pearl farming spot in General Knoxx because it's just something you kinda *experience*
There's always the sequels!
Which could actually be possible with BL2.
The pre sequel!?
Yeah there are some awesome grenades you can get early like the fastball and zero or Salvador have really high damage potential
Can you beat borderlands 2 with only 2 shots
I tried BL3 one shot but the big issue is Shiv. He has alot of health and even farming enemies before Shiv to lvl 6 for 2 and a half hours was only enough for half health. Maybe if you were able to farm to lvl 12 it would be possible with Zane but I don't have the sanity to farm that long
I can beat all sorts of things when I have only had one shot... its easy, now 20 shots... that makes even getting out of my chair a challenge!
good advice from someone as handsome, famous and good at the sex as you XD
I did not expect to see the most handsome and good at the sex man in the universe under a Backlogs video.
Did the whiskey bring you here? Or are you just drawn to bad ideas/life choices?
With Sic showing up, I am now convinced whatever it is we arent supposed to touch is in Borderlands
I keep forgetting you watch The Backlogs
"I think I found out why everyone stopping playing this when the next one came out."
Ayup, and thanks for reminding me.
still a great video. i forgot how messed the game mechanics for this game can be. Thanks Lemon, this video made my morning
Huh... wasn't expecting this. Neat
I much prefer that to the lazy “challenge” runners who just copy all of the easy challenges that have been done a hundred times, glitch like crazy, or act super dramatically about how crazy difficult it all is… omg.. sooOo hard! Such pr0 g4merz… lol
These are meant to be fun, it’s fine to just say it’s not possible or bend the rule if you have to in order to progress the game!
4:11 borderlands bandits are so brainless you can hit their head and still miss their brains.

I can confirm this is possible in borderlands 2
I went from normal mode all the way through UVHM.
Fun fact: In Borderlands 1, Hyperion shotguns if they have a scope are the best sniper rifles in the game xD
26:42 yeah one thing even the community complains about is that there is little to no dedicated drops in the first game... so bl2 it is!
Also Lemon: "Why aren't my bullets going where I'm aiming???"
For this kind of run, I wouldn't be touching anything under 97 accuracy, especially without that skill.
Fun fact: borderlands 2 is the best of the series so far.
Thank you for finally playing a borderlands game 👍
Did you miss some footage at 6:48?
I was just talking out loud how I wish the backlogs would do some borderland challenges thank you RNJesus
Honestly the grind and bugs in BL1 are the only things stopping me from going back to it I love the weapon designs and dlc but it's hard to get past some things
There are mods now. The dedicated drops mod and the fast travel in dlc mods are the best.
it takes like 20 minutes through the nexusmods site to relive the old memories without the problems :D
"Hey, it's Lemon"
He sounds tired...
"I've been having trouble sleeping again"
...That would do it, yep
I have a weapon that should be able to do your one-shot challenge at least a bit further.
So I am not sure where specifically you can get this weapon, but I do have a description of what it does.
1. Its a legendary sniper rifle
2. It shoots 1 shot, but when it hits the ground, it will then "ricochet" and have 3 shots come out.
3. It may be electric, but I don't think that is required (at least mine was electric)
If you aim that at the ground just at the feet of the enemy, the shots will bounce up and all 3 hit the enemy.
The Orion, it is always electric.
BL2 one shot challenges are Technically more doable here, cuz bore is less reliant on equipment usually.
One of my favorite playthroughs of Borderlands, I decided to only use revolvers, and I wound up with the same awkward Mordy build. The guardians are pretty satisfying with Trespass and a good Masher.
Someone has probably said this, but the underdome vending machine will scale to your level. Great video.
See that little skit before your sponsor segment makes me want to watch the sponsor segment. I love it when creators actually weave their style into the ad rather than just reading the ad script. Having Tony do the read is always a good time.
Challenge runs are meant to be fun. As soon as you aren't having fun (or the satisfaction of completing the run wanes) that run is fine to be stopped
But thank you for the attempt Lemon!
I fully understand that the second game is better in basically every possible way and I love that game too, but BL1 has a special space in my heart.
-Bloodwing isn't just listed as an Endangered species but an 'Endangering Species'
-Bloodwing has a 100% resistance to the Explosion element but since Blood is Immortal anyways it doesn't effect gameplay.
-Bloodwing is a scary name.
Thank you, Mordecai from Borderlands 1. Very informative. 🫡
I like Bloodwing
No way he has 100% resistance to explosives

Secret video!!!! Yay!!
Love the video, I would love to see you go through the rest of the series. I know Joltzdude and Killer6 are big challenge runners in the borderlands community and would probably love to help with damage calculations and such in future games!
Trying to earn your money back from watching the movie? Smart move, smart move
8:55 :( no you had it right please go back to the second one
The game itself calls them “racks” so yeah
Every now and again I get a serious urge to play a borderlands game. Glad to see you're adding to your challenge runs!
Played this game like a month ago with some friends to recover from the movie and yeah we switched to the pre-sequel pretty fast
You inspired me to start doing SnS challenge runs. My first one was poison only, and just recently I finished my very own fists and consumables only run. Keep on doing what you do
if you look very closely while aiming the sniper u can see a small circle and it shows the range of where the bullet might hit
I like this sort of video. It's not just 'ah, here's the loophole I'll use for the rest of the run and now here's 40 minutes of me doing that', it's 'here's me doing my utmost best to stretch every mechanic as far as I can to achieve the impossible, even though it won't make it all the way'
Would love to see more borderlands challenges! absolutely loved this
youre an absolute chad for putting your ad in a section on your videos, please dont change man, love your content
As a massive borderlands fan, I concur that in both 1 and 2, movement actually stabilizes the bullets. It makes no sense, but if you ever struggle for a sniper shot, shimmy back and forth and I can guarantee it will be more accurate (99% sure this is because the bullet accuracy itself is a collective, so if you're moving and focusing around one target, the assist can focus on that target as it compensates for the movement which negates the constant sway)
Also, Mordy is the GOAT for 1 because his ability to basically negate shields against the Eridians is unparalleled. My first time, I was a tank Roland and STILL the endgame came down to my brother who was a sniper Mordy and absolutely cleared everything with shields, so yeah, Mordecai is kinda broken.
It's gonna be a fun time seeing Lemon explain Gunzerks gun interactions if he continues this series.
1) Congrats on getting as far as you did!
2) Awesome seeing someone giving the original Borderlands some love 😁
3) Totally down to see an attempt of this in BL2 👌
Hey Lemon, just putting this out there and I'm not sure if your going to read this but thank you for doing these videos. I'm sure it takes a lot of time to get the gameplay and edit everything. There are so many people out there that love you. If you are ever feeling down or sleep just isn't helping anymore maybe you need a break. I recently went through a big change in my life due to stress. It happens but it's the people that support you that get you through. Best of luck man. Hope this helps.
Yay! Some borderlands love, I would love to see some challenges on the sequels
The voices are calling! They say "we wanna know!"
They also say, "What? Us try? Oh hell no. We're not that masochistic."
Nice coincidence this drops a few days after I finished majority of it (literally just one bounty I haven’t done). Can’t wait to see how this goes.
Whats crazy to me is how great this game looks still. It's like it didnt age at all. Cell shading sure is an amazying style choice.
Omg, I love Borderlands and I've never seen this type of content in it. thanks backlogs!
I’ve been waiting for some borderlands content, keep up the awesome work ❤
Amazing challenge idea and tough for all the grinding
It's cool that the Cobra kind of saved the run. Truly one of the best guns in the whole game
OG borderlands was a huge part of my life. Thanks for taking me back
Weapon parts are INSANELY important in BL1.
That particular barrel offers:
+15% Damage/-130% Accuracy Spread/Accuracy penalty -40% to -150%/ Recoil -50%. Although, this is more the "God roll" barrel for semi-auto rifles.
By far the best barrel for this particular challenge imo though, would be the barrel that looks like an anti-material rifle, with a more squared muzzle with 3 portholes. That's the highest damage barrel you can get, and the accuracy is plenty workable with:
+30% Damage/-30% Accuracy Spread/Accuracy Pen -10% to -40%/+35% Recoil and it also has a tech boost of +2, which actually gives a significant boost to element DoT too.

I'll edit if I see any more, but a quick scrub doesn't show any.
Great to see this game with so many memories getting some coverage! Whether I loved or not, I've spent a lot of time in the borderlands.
It was a good attempt, im just happy you decided to cover one of my favorite game series
As a guy who is re-experiencing the beauty of bl1 in ng+ this is weirdly cathartic
been counting down the seconds till a new lemon video, any day without a new lemon video is a day lost.
Zer0 would be very proud of you for doing this run.
While I find in youtube ads to be annoying I know how awful the pay is with youtube and appreciate you putting a time code for it. I like you backlogs.
man...that sandlot catapult reference during the boss fight was nostalgic AF. Bet that flew over tons of peoples heads! HA LOVE IT!
This was my childhood, on my childhood character, WITH MY CHILDHOOD LOVE
LEMON, YOU HAVE MY LIFE!
Admirable effort! Hope to see some vengeance done to this run, either in a sequel or in a re-do at a later date
I appreciate both the borderlands challenge, and the fact you used my favorite Starbound song in the background ❤
One of my favourite franchises? + Lemon making a challengerun for it? There must be a god
