Not sure where I saw this information, maybe even on your channel, but actually with Mergo's Wet Nurse, you can always skip the shadow phase. The transition is an attack, and if you dodge at the right time, the attack misses through your i-frames and fizzles, thus skipping the shadow phase. And that is exactly what you saw during this run.
For Gascoigne there is a way to use the music box to force him to go all feral, then stand really close to the fences in the back near the rear fog door so his jump lands him out of bounds and kills him. No need to hit him once
Yeah but does that really make a difference? At the end of the day you killed a boss without using the Flamesprayer. From a viewer experience (my POV) it honestly doesn't matter.
If you look closely enough, the Flamesprayer has a slight copper tint and an extra nozzle of sorts where the Rosmarinus is more silver in color.. With that being said, a very good choice in a run. I look forward to seeing more challenge runs!
Having done an Arcane build somewhat recently I can definitely say the Flamesprayer and Rosmarinus are surprisingly strong until you start getting powerful Blood Gems. Even then if you can find a chance to Oil Urn a Fire weak target and use some Bone Marrow Ash you can still put out some pretty good damage even then.
Arcane and many tools are great as long as you treat them as a supporting tools. I know you can use only them but I always liked them more as another Hunter's Tool than only option
@@Nazylexx Arcane focused builds (not specifically the tools, just the stat itself) are incredible in that you effectively have an incredible tool in your arsenal for any given situation. The trinkets themselves being a large part of that. Always happy to see a new Backlogs video in my feed, your videos always manage to hit the mark in terms of entertainment! As someone who hasn't played Bloodborne, I was still glued to the screen, enjoying every second of the video! I really like the way you do the sponsor skids, the humor in the videos and the whole narative that matches the vibe of the game you are showcasing. Since I found this channel, this has been my favourite place on youtube ( I've even revisited all the previous stuff I've watched before just because how entertaining the videos are ). I'm looking forward to whatever projects you have in the works for us, Lemon (oh and btw, love your streams )
Well, that monologue at the end of the run, took me by suprise, I'm note gonna lie. And I didn't expect part of Litany Against Fear. And few other quotes. Well done, Sir.
What an ending! I recently binged through all your challenge runs, but I can safely say that speech made this one my favorite by far! Your determination and patience is what inspires me to continue on my first-time journey of the Souls series, so please, keep them coming.
Welcome to the club!! Lemon deserves more subscribers and I'm glad more people are finding his stuff. He has a second channel in his description if you want to check that out as well
The Wet Nurse being so easy isn't just because she's big and slow, but also because there are literally two of her overlapped at all times in preparation for the shadow phase
Dear Lemon! I know I'm a bit late to the party; Bloodborne is my favourite game of all times and I use flamethrowers wherever they are a viable option, so this run was a little dream come true! Thanks for all the effort you put in these challenges and in the video afterwards. I'm not in a great sport, right now, and having your lives and videos to keep me company does help. Quite a lot, in fact! So yeah, maybe you'll never read this comment, but I wanted to let you know that you made someone's day and that you are really helping them (me) out ^^
I like how you cut to another run at 23:57 after dying to the second phase the first time, all while monologuing about not dying by giving into fear. I genuinely smiled seeing the blood echoes jump from 5 to 13 as the punchline.
Lemon, not gonna lie man, you really scared me with that whole "I know not fear" speech, it gave me goosebumps, I wanna hear you tell a horror story now that's be awesome
In regards to the orphan: 20:38 It's because the orphan is left handed. It's also the reason why bosses like Nameless King give players so much trouble. Your natural instincts are to dodge to the Orphan's right because most humanoid enemies in every single From Soft game have conditioned you to do that, as the vast majority of them are right-handed. You know Big M is trying to bust your balls with a boss fight when you see them wielding something in their left hand.
yeah this theory does not hold up. watch the video and tell me what hand the orphan is attacking with. Hint: it is not the left hand. And it doesn't have 3 hands either.
@@Kennorx The theory holds up just not in this case. A lot of people (most) don't pay attention to such a small detail and have learned that they should dodge one specific direction. Then they come across a boss like burned ivory king and he will catch your roll everytime. Like I said he's just wrong in this case however this is a pretty well documented and talked about thing amongst the dark souls community.
Now you see I got a little trick where I dodge roll at the perfect moment or get smacked upside the head harder than Will Smith slapping that one guy (forgot his name)
Okay, can I just say the focus and purity put into that ending speech is just fantastic? Keep up these nice surprises and well-written endings, we love them!
Wow this went a lot better then I thought I would. Was really expecting a super hard drop off in damage like towards the Forest section of Bloodborne but I was pleasantly surprised
A note about Call Beyond! Personally I've had more luck dodging _towards_ Micolash rather than side or backsteppping. Since the projectiles go outward, they have a harder time tracking you towards the caster. It's still annoying but not an instant loss.
Yeah, A Call Beyond is super easy to deal with if you stand a short distance away, then dodge right up into Micolash's face the moment the star explodes, which will also give you a free bit of damage in. That's how I always did it, it's pretty easy once you know how haha, but it's easier still to cheese him from atop the big hole with the broken railing, either with bone marrow ashes on your pistol, or with any other ranged weapons basically. XD
To be honest, even though I voted for the Blades, this was still pretty interesting. Nicely done as usual~ Also, forgot another (really minor, to be honest) tip that may or may not be common knowledge, so sorry if I'm just being pedantic--Blood Bullets you make in the Hunter's Dream stay with you when you leave it. So you could make five blood bullets, top off your vials, and have 105 total blood bullets available for a boss run before you count in rune boosts to your vial cap.
This comment is to try and free Carl. Great video as always Mr. Lemon, highly entertaining and always a highlight of my week. Your souls-like videos have got me back into playing the dark-souls trilogy again, running character through all three games with restrictions (really just playing DS1,2,3 in order recreating the "same" character every time). One question though.... BY THE UNHOLY ABOMINATION THAT IS THE SPINDLBEAST DO YOU DO THIS!? I tried some of these runs, firebombs only in DS2 BROKE me, and that was after DS1 made me want to go hollow. I thought you were exaggerating for the good story telling of the videos but no, NO! You are, in fact, an insane patience elemental, and I love you for it.
Re watched this one a few times, and it is worth respecting the amount of effort you put into these videos, the song selection to the monologue. Paints a picture and takes you to a place. Much respect. If I was wearing a hat, it would be tipped towards you at this moment.
You are quite the poet. Whenever I watch you Bloodborne videos, I have to rewatch the ending. The first time, inevitably, I become so lolled by your deepening voice and gentle nightmares that I am shocked that the video has ended. It's sublime.
Can we just talk about the fact that this man never complains about run backs? All these days of grinding souls to things like the rolling ball bridge must have made him immune to run back fatigue.
I've literally never used the flamesprayer or rosemarinus in a run before, because they just seemed kind of bad to me. So I was really shocked to see how they utterly humiliated the entire game aside from a couple bosses.
Damn those last few minutes hit hard. This man went from your friendly neighborhood challenge runner to a being of pure focus, will, and destruction. Good outro bro.
To deal with the run breaking gascoign problem you could use the item from his child 3 times so he transforms instantly and cheese him to jump of the map so this would still be possible without the molotovs
I loved this thing so much. Whenever I wasn't using the Evelyn or the blunderbuss I was an absolute monster throwing quicksilver bullets to the wind with that silly little flamesprayer

The 1.4 seconds might be a result of working backwards from the default bullet max lasting 28 seconds, though that’s not much less of an arbitrary number.

Love watching your Bloodborne challenge runs cause not many people who still play it bring something new to the table. Flamesprayer isn't really anything new but the way you execute it does something for my brain that it finds pleasing. If you're looking for another challenge run away from the love-craftian content of bloodborne for a bit, and if you want to step outside your usual repertoire of games, why not try The Surge with only the starting weapon, the reclaimed piston. And if that's not enough you could try getting all the available V.2 weapons from the bosses as an additional challenge. If you don't know, when you beat a boss in the surge you get a weapon from them but if you defeat them in a specific way, you get a version of the weapon that's either a bit stronger, or does elemental damage.
A cool variable of this run could be a flamesprayer+10 on NG+ meaning you upgrade it with a blood rock in your 1st run, and do the 2nd run with a fully upgraded version, that'd be cool to watch
I have been binging your videos the last few days and now I see this as I get home from a long shift at work, BLESS YOU FOR THE CONTENT Plus Bloodborne is my favorite souls game.
I absolutely love how poetic and philosophical you get. Half of why I keep coming back I think. I say as I've only found your channel maybe a week ago. 😂
ya know? I'm an xbox kid so I never really got to play bloodborne, and this is the first run I've sat down and watched all the way through. Really solid outro too though, you definitely have a new subscriber.
You earned the sub just from music choice in the beginning and end. Pokémon crystal is my favorite Pokémon game and hollow knight music at the end. So gud :)
My dad got me Bloodborne and Sekiro for Christmas, and now that I’m watching this again after nearly beating the game, I’m actually understanding what’s going on.
As far as I can remember, I’ve never watched any Backlogs content before. And yet, your video reached me all the same. Amazing work, you almost made the entire thing look too easy.
Hey Lemon, I can only speak for myself here, but my problem with the Orphan of Kos was (and sometimes still is) the weapon. There's a delay with the swing. I see his arm swing at me and want to dodge, but the actual "blade" isn't synched up, so I ram myself into it. Idk if this will help at all, but you said you were in band and all so I figured it's worth a shot. I think of Orphan's attacks as a syncopated rhythm. Instead of dodging on the "down" beat, which is his arm, I try to dodge on the "up" beat, and that usually helps me out a bit. As for when he decides to throw a temper tantrum in the second phase, I got nothin lol but maybe something to try out next time you fight him! Great video, always love starting out my day with some citrus absurdity!
Been watching since 100 subscribers and thanks to you I now have played salt and sanctuary and salt and sacrifice, and since I already live the souls games I now go do the challenge runs you do and as a patients elemental and fire bomb scholar you have made the games more interesting so thank you

I got Salt and Sanctuary a few days ago and I’m loving it! I’d never heard of it before watching you, Lemon. So thanks!
A cool variable of this run could be a flamesprayer+10 on NG+ meaning you upgrade it with a blood rock in your 1st run, and do the 2nd run with a fully upgraded version, that'd be cool to watch
I have been binging your videos the last few days and now I see this as I get home from a long shift at work, BLESS YOU FOR THE CONTENT
Plus Bloodborne is my favorite souls game.
Love the videos! Was wondering if you could do a Nioh challenge run of only Onmyo magic or firebombs? I would love to see it.
Stellar content. I like your solution to the Gascione fight. Run NOT invalidated.
Always love when I see new content get uploaded. An excellent challenge run and looks pretty fun too
The video was definitely worth watching. Great job man, I'm happy just seeing you try.
Starting out the video with Gen 2 Pokémon music just sent me down nostalgia lane, thanks for that
The music that Lemon picks for his videos is always so good (and oft a blast from the past too)
Yes, I was so happy to see this Bloodborne video. Great work I love your videos.
Since I found out about your channel, been nonstop watching most of your videos. you have become my favorite channel.
Love the monologue at the end!! made the video much better for sure!!
10:35 "Brother! I need the Flamer.... the HEAVY flamer."
Really solid outro too though, you definitely have a new subscriber.
loved the run. And its always a treat when i hear submerged Torvis Bogs Theme play in your videos. such a relaxing theme from MP2E.
I absolutely love how much effort and quality goes into these videos
You earned the sub just from music choice in the beginning and end. Pokémon crystal is my favorite Pokémon game and hollow knight music at the end. So gud :)
Hearing that OG Pokémon Johto music at the beginning got me to sub. Much appreciated for the BloodBorne content!
your channel and a machining channel have become my Saturday tea vids. that's high praise. cheers.ta.
So glad there's still an active Bloodborne community and it's still being played and getting content :)
The monologue/poem at the end was picturesque.
@23:45 is one of the best soulbornes power rants I ever heard. Bravo!
Omg that pre outro monologue. Dude, please write a novel, I know you quoted dune, but the sitection you took it shows you got witing chops.
A friend told me about your channel and your Videos. And man you're great. Really love your editing and content. Keep it up.
This is quickly becoming my favourite channel. Keep up the quality videos man.
Dude, your videos always terrorizing me to play Chrono Trigger again. Best music ever.
