Well can anyone tell me how one can make lyrics like these fit into a song so well made, i my self would have to use it as the main background music for a ALL OUT EPIC FINAL BATTLE?
Let's talk for a minute about how hard it must have been for Casey to preform a duet from the perspective of a girl who lost her mother, _with her mother._
@@superstarduck3823 im pretty sure ruby says "It doesn't matter how" and her mom says "It doesn't matter now". They both say something different that reflects how they feel
"And all those times I swore that it would be okay..." Wow. That paints a mental picture. Just imagine: Little Ruby Rose crying as her mother heads for the door, Yang behind her, comforting, when Summer turns around, kneels down, pats Ruby on the head, and tells her that she promises to come back. After a while, Ruby gets used to it, until one day her Mom doesn't come back. Nobody knows what to tell her and she doesn't know what to think. Holy fuck.
Ruby looks forward with a determined look, as she cocks Crescent Rose. With the force of being shot out of a cannon, Weiss had the glyph send Ruby flying. As she soars through the air towards the Giant Nevermore, Ruby fires several shots, in order to keep herself propelling forward. She finally reaches the bird creature, and wraps the blade around its neck. Weiss then conjures white glyphs onto the cliffside, and Ruby knows exactly what to do. She starts running upwards, using the glyphs, and her shots to keep her moving fast. She finally reaches the top, and with one last pull, decapites the Nevermore. Landing perfectly on top of the cliff, she turns around to look at the scene, and her friends before her. Her cape flutters behind her in the wind. Both enemies have been vanquished. The battle is won
Took you that long? For me it was the Yellow Trailer that got me hooked. Could be because at the time Yang seemed like my OC come to life (both tall, blonde bombshells that use fiery punches to kick serious ass. What's not to like?) they ended up being quite different in the endw, but still

I think that this particular version of this song is not only my favorite song in the series, but my favorite song in general. I don't know, but something about the emotional chaos and how you can easily tell which singer takes the place of which character in this bit of musical backstory and how each character feels about it so clearly just really really gets to me enough to make it my absolute favorite.
I love Sandy's vocals in this. Her vocals kind of sound like a really good male tenor sang it to me, but I mean that as a compliment. Just means she has a lot of soul and richness to her female voice.
This song is now a million times more depressing than it already was because it sounds like the kind of sad questions and thoughts we're all having in the wake of Monty's death.

As a matter of fact, Team RWBY and the others couldn't live without poor Pyrrha Nikos. We need her back right now and have them get all of their special abilities back. Do you all agree with me?

I've listened to this song countless times now, but the bridge part where Casey and her mum sing intermittently like they are having a conversation...it still gives me the chills every time.
I know how Ruby feels loosing someone close to her i felt the same way this song i can relate to Ruby I lost my grandpa to Alzheimer Disease I was so depressed i tried my best my best to stay strong and pretend like i acted normal but deep inside i was severely depressed and i have severe depression i miss him so much but i must stay strong he's in heaven though i wish he didn't die i wish he was still alive if i had know he wasn't gonna live i could have gone and visited him before he passed away but i didn't hearing the news my aunt told me he died i got up walked to my room and broke down i also have asthma so that break down i had some trouble breathing R.I.P Grandpa i miss you a lot you were like a father to me i cared for him dearly i don't know what it's like to have a father he was the closes to me my biological father abandoned me

It came from the grave at the beginning of the Red Trailer. On it are the words "Summer Rose - And thus kindly, I scatter" Summer Rose being a relative of Ruby's. What really sells it is the fact that this song is a duet between Casey Lee Williams and her mother Sandy Casey, as well as the lyrics, with Casey's lyrics being from Ruby's perspective and Sandy's from Summer's perspective. While it's greatly theorized upon that it's Ruby's mother, some also believe it could be her sister, though the Casey Lee/Sandy Casey connection makes me feel it's almost certainly her mother.
This song will forever be my favorite out of all of the ones currently in the series and the ones to come because there'll never be a song that describes the same situation between me and my mother word for word like this one. Ever.
The first fights of teams JNPR and RWBY. In these battles the fates of four would become entwined, and the future of Remnant would be included with them. And this song makes it so much better, Ruby remembering her Moms promise and why she's doing this. This is where she earned her position as leader
To the people who think that this song is about Jaune and Pyrrha (because I know they are out there), this song is NOT about them. If it was, then Casey's part would be sung by Jeff. This song is about Ruby accepting that her mother is dead. This is a "conversation" between Ruby and Summer. This is also sung by a mother and daughter (Sandy and Casey).
The Moose Is Loose Okay, I'm not one of those people, but I think part of a song is it's meaning is open to interpretation, don't get me wrong, the original meaning is important and when this song was written, it was about Ruby and Summer... but In a roundabout sense it's applicable to Jaune and Pyrrha... just like it was also in a roundabout sense applicable to Yang and Raven... it's just a matter of interpretation...
I had some friends over to play Smash, and we did an 8-player smash while listening to this song. We played as Rosalina & Luma, Samus, Fox, Ike, Shulk, Bayonetta, Bowser Jr., and Lucas.TEARS WERE SHED
why do I feel like summer was on a mission to find and kill Salem, Summers captured like Oz, and saying things like "your life in vain,, and my same fate" really puts v.3's cliffhanger in perspective.
People keep theorising that this song about how Ruby secretly feels or how she will feel in the future. But could it actually be about about how she used to feel? May be it's meant to be about how she felt when she first lost her mom. Seeing how much pain her sister was in could also be the reason Yang stepped up and became such a good sister to her.
Randy Phan True. Supposedly, each member of Team JNPR are based on a figure, mythical or otherwise, of the opposite sex known for cross dressing. Jaune is, of course, based on Joan of Arc. Lie Ren is based on Mulan. I think I heard that Pyrrha is based on Achilles. We can only hope she has stronger heels.
PEPSIboy1010 Blood relatives yes, but she adopted her as her sister nonetheless ;) Just because they're blood relatives doesn't mean they were originally siblings.
I couldn't take it, couldn't stand another minute Couldn't bear another day without you in it All of the joy that I had known for my life Was stripped away from me the minute that you died To have you in my life was all I ever wanted But now without you I'm a soul forever haunted Can't help but feel that I had taken you for granted No way in hell that I can ever comprehend this I wasn't dreaming when they told me you were gone I was wide awake and feeling that they had to be wrong How could you leave me when you swore that you would stay? Now I'm trapped inside a nightmare every single f'ing day It's like a movie, but there's not a happy ending Every scene fades black, and there's no pretending This little fairy tale doesn't seem to end well There's no knight in shining armor who will wake me from the spell I know you didn't plan this You tried to do what's right. But in the middle of this madness I'm the one you left to win this fight Red like roses Fills my head with dreams and finds me Always closer To the emptiness and sadness That has come to take the place of you Voice 2 (Sandy): I know you're broken down by anger and by sadness You feel I left you in a world that's full of madness Wish I could talk to you, if only for a minute Make you understand the reasons why I did it I wanna tell you that you're all that ever mattered Want you to know that, for eternity, I'm shattered I tried so hard just to protect you, but I failed to And in a prison of abandonment I've jailed you I never planned that I would leave you there alone I was sure that I would see you when I made it back home And all the times I swore that it would be okay Now I'm nothing but a liar, and you're thrown into the fray This bedtime story ends with misery ever after The pages are torn, and there's no final chapter I didn't have a choice, I did what I had to do I made a sacrifice but forced a bigger sacrifice on you I know you've lived a nightmare I caused you so much pain But, baby, please don't do what I did I don't want you to waste your life in vain Voice 1: Red like roses Fills my head with dreams and finds me Always closer To the emptiness and sadness That has come to take the place of you. Voice 2: You're not the only one who needed me; I thought you understood Voice 1: You were the one I needed, and you left me as I always feared you would Voice 2: Would I change it if I could? Both voices: It doesn't matter how The petals scatter now Every nightmare just discloses It's your blood that's red like roses Voice 1: And no matter what I do Nothing ever takes the place of you Red like roses Fills my head with dreams and finds me Always closer To the emptiness and sadness That has come to take the place of you Show less REPLY
Amazing storytelling with a song, one of the things I love about RWBY is the music, it's made just for the series and each scene individually and it fits perfectly each time it plays.
when i was younger, I only knew Roosterteeth through Rvb. but when i joined the army (14h), one of the guys in my unit was a giant weeabo who consumed everything anime, including stuff that wasn't technically of japanese origination, but was *definitely* inspired by it. RWBY was definitely one of those things, and one of my deepest regrets is that the series didn't finish before the company ended. RIP Roosterteeth. RIP Montyoum
X_blade13 Pretty sure she isn't Salem considering that Salem is the origin of the Grimm, which have been around long since Qrow and therefore Ruby's mom
I like to think that Summer made some decision that somehow connects Salem's fate to Ruby, thus "Forced to make a sacrifice of you." But, we shall see what what actually happened eventually.
OK, I think I just found my third favorite song. Amazing how much more I'm listening to this with the buildup added. o.o And i loved both the episode version and the album version already. ;p
I thank you for uploading this. I like the original version from the episode with the build up, but I can't help but have the extended lyrics, even if I'm not particularly fond of Sandy's singing. Still good, but it strikes an odd chord with me. But now I get both. :)
Spoilers Below... Listening to this song again, really makes me see the Rwby/Summer Rose dynamic, turn out like that for Jaune & Phyrra. She left him to fight the big evil of the time, and failed to return... leaving him to emotional distress and forcing him to want to enter the battle more than before...
I love how part one is mostly instrumental, and part two Ruby is like: "Oh hi mom! Why the fuck did ya have to go die on my ass huh?" And Summer is just like: "I know I fucked up and got myself killed and brought you misery yes, but in my defense, I didn't mean to"
Want to hear something _very_ interesting about this song? The first singer is Casey, who provides the female voice in almost every RWBY song, and in this particular song, represents Ruby. The deeper voice is Sandy, who represents Summer, Ruby's mother. I'm 99% sure that Sandy is Casey's mother. That means this song being sung between Sandy and Casey truly is being sung between a mother and daughter, just like how it's intended to be between Summer and Ruby.
I'm still trying to comprehend how they made such a depressing song so fun to listen to.
Well I think it's due to how even though it's of loss it still shows life goes on
by the power of rock, the blessings of Yngwie Malmsteen, and several buckets of coffee and adrenaline-fueled bloodlust.
Well can anyone tell me how one can make lyrics like these fit into a song so well made, i my self would have to use it as the main background music for a ALL OUT EPIC FINAL BATTLE?

This song will forever be my favorite out of all of the ones currently in the series and the ones to come because there'll never be a song that describes the same situation between me and my mother word for word like this one. Ever.
I love the long introduction leading up to the music such a good song
The first fights of teams JNPR and RWBY. In these battles the fates of four would become entwined, and the future of Remnant would be included with them. And this song makes it so much better, Ruby remembering her Moms promise and why she's doing this. This is where she earned her position as leader
Sometimes we just have to break a promise to save others.
Just here for my daily view.
Me too
To the people who think that this song is about Jaune and Pyrrha (because I know they are out there), this song is NOT about them.
I wish Itunes had the build up.
3:45 Pyrrah is a power ranger
she's also dead
Jakey Boi Sadness
No ....pyrrah was a queen rip best girl ....welp neo here i come
This song hits different after my owm mum died. Still my favourite song tho.
I had some friends over to play Smash, and we did an 8-player smash while listening to this song. We played as Rosalina & Luma, Samus, Fox, Ike, Shulk, Bayonetta, Bowser Jr., and Lucas.TEARS WERE SHED
I was waiting for someone to make this version! Thank you much, RT4!
The show not having more combos like this is a bit disappointing sadly. The teamwork, the setup. The execution. Beautiful.
Awesome! Yet again you amaze me Mr Williams. I applaud you and everyone that helps you
why do I feel like summer was on a mission to find and kill Salem, Summers captured like Oz, and saying things like "your life in vain,, and my same fate" really puts v.3's cliffhanger in perspective.
My mind is slowly melting
Every time I listen to this song, I get chills. I love it!
Yeah, it's a song about how Ruby felt when her mother died.
Did anyone else notice the hammer symbol on Nora's back.
Every character in RWBY has a symbol of their family crest somewhere on their outfit...
N Badic Might not be family crests.
That's what I was thinking.
She's supposedly based on Thor of Norse mythology
Randy Phan True. Supposedly, each member of Team JNPR are based on a figure, mythical or otherwise, of the opposite sex known for cross dressing. Jaune is, of course, based on Joan of Arc. Lie Ren is based on Mulan. I think I heard that Pyrrha is based on Achilles. We can only hope she has stronger heels.
Thanks for uploading this :)
The buildup at the beginning is what made this song :)
Outstanding, I wanted to hear this version for a while now
So excited for volume 2
I have a feeling that Yang and Ruby's father/mother is/are dead and this song is Ruby's lamentation of that loss.
Yang's parents are very much alive. Ruby is her adopted sister.
I was not aware of this...
PlusOne2Crit . Wrong! Monty has said that Yang and Ruby are blood related.
Uh....huh. That is just a bit confusing.
PEPSIboy1010 Blood relatives yes, but she adopted her as her sister nonetheless ;)
Just because they're blood relatives doesn't mean they were originally siblings.
Man I miss old RWBY… RiP Monty Oum
I couldn't take it, couldn't stand another minute
Couldn't bear another day without you in it
All of the joy that I had known for my life
Was stripped away from me the minute that you died
To have you in my life was all I ever wanted
But now without you I'm a soul forever haunted
Can't help but feel that I had taken you for granted
No way in hell that I can ever comprehend this
I wasn't dreaming when they told me you were gone
I was wide awake and feeling that they had to be wrong
How could you leave me when you swore that you would stay?
Now I'm trapped inside a nightmare every single f'ing day
It's like a movie, but there's not a happy ending
Every scene fades black, and there's no pretending
This little fairy tale doesn't seem to end well
There's no knight in shining armor who will wake me from the spell
I know you didn't plan this
You tried to do what's right.
But in the middle of this madness
I'm the one you left to win this fight
Red like roses
Fills my head with dreams and finds me
Always closer
To the emptiness and sadness
That has come to take the place of you
Voice 2 (Sandy):
I know you're broken down by anger and by sadness
You feel I left you in a world that's full of madness
Wish I could talk to you, if only for a minute
Make you understand the reasons why I did it
I wanna tell you that you're all that ever mattered
Want you to know that, for eternity, I'm shattered
I tried so hard just to protect you, but I failed to
And in a prison of abandonment I've jailed you
I never planned that I would leave you there alone
I was sure that I would see you when I made it back home
And all the times I swore that it would be okay
Now I'm nothing but a liar, and you're thrown into the fray
This bedtime story ends with misery ever after
The pages are torn, and there's no final chapter
I didn't have a choice, I did what I had to do
I made a sacrifice but forced a bigger sacrifice on you
I know you've lived a nightmare
I caused you so much pain
But, baby, please don't do what I did
I don't want you to waste your life in vain
Voice 1:
Red like roses
Fills my head with dreams and finds me
Always closer
To the emptiness and sadness
That has come to take the place of you.
Voice 2: You're not the only one who needed me; I thought you understood
Voice 1: You were the one I needed, and you left me as I always feared you would
Voice 2: Would I change it if I could?
Both voices: It doesn't matter how
The petals scatter now
Every nightmare just discloses
It's your blood that's red like roses
Voice 1: And no matter what I do
Nothing ever takes the place of you
Red like roses
Fills my head with dreams and finds me
Always closer
To the emptiness and sadness
That has come to take the place of you

Amazing storytelling with a song, one of the things I love about RWBY is the music, it's made just for the series and each scene individually and it fits perfectly each time it plays.
So much WIN....!!!!
when i was younger, I only knew Roosterteeth through Rvb. but when i joined the army (14h), one of the guys in my unit was a giant weeabo who consumed everything anime, including stuff that wasn't technically of japanese origination, but was *definitely* inspired by it. RWBY was definitely one of those things, and one of my deepest regrets is that the series didn't finish before the company ended. RIP Roosterteeth. RIP Montyoum
Why do I remember the exact lyrics to this song. It’s been 3 years since I’ve heard it
sometimes I like to think that this is Ruby talking to her late mother, who ended up becoming Salem for whatever reason I can't wait to find out
X_blade13 Pretty sure she isn't Salem considering that Salem is the origin of the Grimm, which have been around long since Qrow and therefore Ruby's mom
AnimeBattles(Top10s) WAY longer
Señor Jecansu I know
I like to think that Summer made some decision that somehow connects Salem's fate to Ruby, thus "Forced to make a sacrifice of you." But, we shall see what what actually happened eventually.
Now I want a "Shadow of the Colossus" or "Dark Souls" Multiplayer mod in which four people play as Team Ruby.
Weiss' weapon in Dark Souls? From Software make it happen.
Wish, i could this on iTunes, damn the full version with the build up is amazing.
i think it's on the ost
This is a custom mash up of the single and the one from the ost.
Just use a UA-cam-MP3 converter like I did.
Kylec0pezTR shhh!!!! No one needs to know that :)
Tuton25
No! People need to be able to listen to this perfection 24 hours a day if they so wish!
*Checks out of curiosity to see if this is on spotify*
Jeff, Caseym and Sandy... god bless you all!
this shit's my jam
OK, I think I just found my third favorite song. Amazing how much more I'm listening to this with the buildup added. o.o And i loved both the episode version and the album version already. ;p
i personally like the built up, it gets the song going and adds to the adrenalin feeling.
I thank you for uploading this. I like the original version from the episode with the build up, but I can't help but have the extended lyrics, even if I'm not particularly fond of Sandy's singing. Still good, but it strikes an odd chord with me. But now I get both. :)
After watching the first 10 episodes, this song makes ALOT of sense now.
Spoilers Below...
Listening to this song again, really makes me see the Rwby/Summer Rose dynamic, turn out like that for Jaune & Phyrra. She left him to fight the big evil of the time, and failed to return... leaving him to emotional distress and forcing him to want to enter the battle more than before...
just got done watching vol 1 of RWBY and i gotta say, this is 🔥
WHY WASN'T THIS ON ITUNES?!?!?! This gave me chills when I listened to it
I still wonder what this show could have been. Rest In Peace, Monty Oum.
I love how part one is mostly instrumental, and part two Ruby is like: "Oh hi mom! Why the fuck did ya have to go die on my ass huh?" And Summer is just like: "I know I fucked up and got myself killed and brought you misery yes, but in my defense, I didn't mean to"
BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER!!!
Uhhhhhh such a good song
IM LISTENING WHEN VOL 5 IS OUT
Want to hear something _very_ interesting about this song?
The first singer is Casey, who provides the female voice in almost every RWBY song, and in this particular song, represents Ruby. The deeper voice is Sandy, who represents Summer, Ruby's mother. I'm 99% sure that Sandy is Casey's mother. That means this song being sung between Sandy and Casey truly is being sung between a mother and daughter, just like how it's intended to be between Summer and Ruby.
