Destin Dustin honestly the only thing that took me off guard was Jaundice since I knew the episode and also ‘Judas Thereupon Kissed’ sounded like a different language, though I guess I was wrong.
So the main question is, is this song entirely from RWBY's perspective, or is this RWBY vs Ace Ops? The entire first verse is most certainly from RWBY's perspective. But I think there's some interesting evidence in the second verse to theorize that it's from the Ace Ops' POV: >I'll be honest I was plenty surprised >Turned from family to full-on despised RWBY considered Ace Ops friends, but now they're berating and fighting them. It's not surprising for jaded Ace Ops to act like that, but it is for the idealistic RWBY, which Ace Ops are mocking. >Just like you to take the coward's way out The Ace Ops were the ones who didn't think much of RWBY from the start, so it makes sense that they'd say "just like you" to them. >A book of lies with no replies RWBY lied to them about the lamp. >This diatribe's your victory no doubt This is Ace Ops hinting that RWBY is self-righteous in their blaming of them. >You knew the cruelest things to say >Then ran away >Filled with spite and jaundiced >Like Judas thereupon kissed I'm honestly at a loss in this part. Not just because Christianity is not a thing in Remnant so a reference to Judas is kinda weird, but also because these lyrics feel really random and I don't know how to apply them to the situation at all. I guess if we take it as somewhat out-of-universe, this could be about how RWBY got angry and insulted Ace Ops for letting Mantle get destroyed, how Ruby tried to flee without a fight to buy time, and how Ace Ops were hurt by their words? There's also clearly some vague sentiment of betrayal here (que the Judas allegory). >Just a mindless weapon >Pointed at an enemy >A simple tool providing someone >Else with victory This obviously alludes to "Time To Say Goodbye", where RWBY feared of becoming just that. So it makes sense to blame them for this, since Ironwood and Ace Ops probably think they're still following Ozpin. Thought this part could describe Ace Ops as well, since they're just blindly obeying Ironwood's orders. >It's time I blow your little mind Ace Ops are slightly older and refer to RWBY as "kids" on some occasion, so it would make sense for them to make derogatory remarks like "blow your little mind". >Farewell my friend >I really must give you the credit >You achieved a goal >Perhaps the first time in your life you felt control Now I think this part is most certainly from the Ace Ops' POV. They view RWBY revolting against Ironwood's decision as "trying to feel control" over anything in their lives for the sake of it. I don't see how this part about the control could be applied to Ace Ops' at all, since all they're doing is obeying orders. >I'll never trust the same >I'll see friendship as just another game >Full of winners and losers >Selfish abusers And this is definitely RWBY's perspective. This part reflects disappointment, and Ace Ops were jaded in the first place, so why would they be disappointed? It's probably RWBY expressing their disenchantment with Ace Ops' true cynical nature. The main chorus itself could be from either of them, or probably both of them. Feel free to suggest your own theories and interpretations.
I'm pretty sure the entire song is from RWBY's perspective. Narratively this is their big confrontation. I don't see any of the lyrics fitting the Ace Ops. It's also important to take into account the fact that this plays as soon as RWBY gains the upper hand by knocking out Vine. This song is all for RWBY and is meant to empower them as they move closer to their victory in the battle.
For the Judas part, the songs make references to real world things all the time. In Celebrate it mentions Vegas and Christmas. It's just a good line that we'd understand the meaning of, and really reinforces the idea of betrayal. Could be from the Ace-Ops, because whilst both feel betrayed, it was RWBY that ended running away to escape being arrested. Plus Yang and Weiss said stuff during the fights that got into the Ace-Ops' head, so "the cruelest things to say" could be from their view.

3:25 Now I'm in love with this
Yang: this bishhh empty YEET
She wasn't playing around
So the main question is, is this song entirely from RWBY's perspective, or is this RWBY vs Ace Ops?
The entire first verse is most certainly from RWBY's perspective. But I think there's some interesting evidence in the second verse to theorize that it's from the Ace Ops' POV:
>I'll be honest I was plenty surprised
>Turned from family to full-on despised
RWBY considered Ace Ops friends, but now they're berating and fighting them. It's not surprising for jaded Ace Ops to act like that, but it is for the idealistic RWBY, which Ace Ops are mocking.
>Just like you to take the coward's way out
The Ace Ops were the ones who didn't think much of RWBY from the start, so it makes sense that they'd say "just like you" to them.
>A book of lies with no replies
RWBY lied to them about the lamp.
>This diatribe's your victory no doubt
This is Ace Ops hinting that RWBY is self-righteous in their blaming of them.
>You knew the cruelest things to say
>Then ran away
>Filled with spite and jaundiced
>Like Judas thereupon kissed
I'm honestly at a loss in this part.
>Just a mindless weapon
>Pointed at an enemy
>A simple tool providing someone
>Else with victory
This obviously alludes to "Time To Say Goodbye", where RWBY feared of becoming just that. So it makes sense to blame them for this, since Ironwood and Ace Ops probably think they're still following Ozpin. Thought this part could describe Ace Ops as well, since they're just blindly obeying Ironwood's orders.
>It's time I blow your little mind
Ace Ops are slightly older and refer to RWBY as "kids" on some occasion, so it would make sense for them to make derogatory remarks like "blow your little mind".
>Farewell my friend
>I really must give you the credit
>You achieved a goal
>Perhaps the first time in your life you felt control
Now I think this part is most certainly from the Ace Ops' POV. They view RWBY revolting against Ironwood's decision as "trying to feel control" over anything in their lives for the sake of it. I don't see how this part about the control could be applied to Ace Ops' at all, since all they're doing is obeying orders.
>I'll never trust the same
>I'll see friendship as just another game
>Full of winners and losers
>Selfish abusers
And this is definitely RWBY's perspective. This part reflects disappointment, and Ace Ops were jaded in the first place, so why would they be disappointed? It's probably RWBY expressing their disenchantment with Ace Ops' true cynical nature.
The main chorus itself could be from either of them, or probably both of them.

RWBY is one of those series I didn't expected something but in return I got one of the best things I've watched ever
Me when I see yang's semblance:
*:)*
This song is just one of the most BADASS ones!
They kind of forgot that professional huntsman move in a blur because of how fast they are and how developed their auras are. Also Neo alone can beat JNR but RWBY can beat the best huntsman in Atlas?
If anyone's ever wanted to hear a song about how just blindly following orders is wrong... THIS... IS... IT.
Everything just slaps
This song is sooo good
ngl the music is probably the only thing that keeps me going in watching this show
Who kinda wishes that Blake still had her long hair
Me but she still looks very pretty
Aw this tune is SO BADASS!
I really love the RWBY Volume 7 soundtrack!!!
YES! Ya'll did it and I'm happy! The DOOMification of this song has rightfully been put back in place!
Holy shit! Even better then I was expecting!
When pog
I still don’t know if I’m gonna actually watch volume 7 lol
I still hear him saying STAY
I may not like RWBY anymore but by god do Jeff and Casey Williams go hard on the tracks
I’m waiting for the nevermore remix! Btw how did you get it so early? It’s not July 31 for me yet lol
This song feels so much better with the build up without it it feels a bit empty at the intro
Elm and vine's takedown are so damn satisfying. i'm not the greatest fan of bumblebee, but holy. Absolute girlboss energy.
Weiss kicked so much ass in this fight, Marrow never had a chance.
I love how professional RWBY looks now
I feel like the “simple soul providing someone else with victory” is referring to Ruby distracting Harriott so that the rest of team RWBY could take care of the others Ace Ops without Harriott’s interference witch could have caused the Ace Ops to be victorious.
It's also a reference to the breakdown before the last chorus of Time To Say Goodbye
I don't know if it's just this video, but around 1:12. The song quotes "content to follow orders" as he orders the giant knight to stay.
The beginning reminds me of when a series called TTA used to do that too.
Dude. This clip made me so sad. I was like, "Nooooo. They don't have to fight, but at the same time they do! WHYYYYY?!?!?"
The 4 dislikes are from the Ace-Ops, clearly.
My favourite song from the show so far.
ironwood: "you honestly doesnt belive your kids can win a war" rwby: "if its war that you want than you got it"
fine bros
I love how at the beginning of the volumen ace ops thought yang and Blake fighting style didn't match but they shut mouths off
Oh hey it's the edit I made in like 2 minutes as a proof of concept lol. Well I'm glad people are enjoying it :D
HELLYES!!!
This will be a great theme for Blazblue Cross Tag Battle any body agrees hit the like button!!!
Just my opinion but I think the song would have been EVEN better with the build up included
