Part 2 is all about Ruby and the death of her mother, part 3 is Ruby asking her mom to guide her out of the dark place she's in. Part 1 was giving you a tiny peace of who all the girls where, part 2 was all about Ruby and so is part 3. So it did start with part 1 ig but like didn't really get going till part 2.
I love this song. So glad we got a RLR part 3 now. Ruby isn’t going to try to just be like her mom anymore, but she’s not completely rejecting her either. She mentions the reclaimed promise of “I love you just the way you are”, she wants to do what her mom did but more, she wants to do things her way now, while still carrying her mother’s memory
After a whole fucking decade of waiting, we finally got it boys. I wish we could have gotten it sooner, but this... This is good. 😊 If RWBY does die, and we never get volume 10, I'm satisfied. Mah girl finally got some respect as the MC, and unlocked her theme song😂
A thing that I will always admire about RWBY is the continuation of their lyrics and songs. And this is not different here. The moment Red Like Roses motiff kicked off, the lyrics being a reply the RLR Part 2, her answer to Summer, the reference to Penny and her current character development from V8. Amazing!
3:51 made me absolutely lose my shit with such a goddamn spectacle of a guitar solo and 1:07 gave me goosebumps with the "red like roses" referral back to part 1. Holy shit this is a phenomenal piece.
ruby rose is definitely a legend, a rose like warrior and what inspired every Single one of her team, from her start of her adventure meeting her teammates (part 1), to being a sad and depressed girl who missed her mother (part 2) to finally finding her purpose, finding her strength and finding that she is the one who inspired the fairytale, the one who made team R.W.B.Y, the one to show what being a hero is, achieve the title of the legendary rose like huntress and the one who erases every single negative energy and replace it with a positive one, what a legend, she'll be really missed along with the entire show after volume 12.
Over a decade of an adventure and development, Ruby's journey has culminated into this. If there was one little thing I loved about this Volume, it was this entire sequence right here.
I absolutely adore Volume 9's theme of acceptance and how it relates to all of the 6 major characters. Jaune's acceptance was as the final stage of grief and that he has been expecting too much from himself. Weiss' acceptance was that she no longer had to fight against her own name, and that she could be the one to redefine it. Blake and Yang (aside from accepting each other) accepted that they wouldn't be who they are without what they have been through. Ruby's acceptance was self-acceptance, she is far stronger and more capable than she gives herself credit for. Neo's acceptance is twofold: acceptance as the final stage of grief (finally accepting that Torchwick is gone) and a form of self-acceptance. Neo doesn't accept herself as she is, she accepts that she needs to work on herself before she can get a second chance at what she has always wanted (that being actual friends she can trust)
I don't think it was time dilation, I think that's just Ruby's insane reaction speed. She's finally able to fight at her best now that she has accepted herself

@@olserknamAh you’re right I had a bit of a brain fart and for some reason got touch the sky confused in my head. The until the end one though is when it’s said “were you there ‘til the end” in here. Until the end I always thought was a Summer or Ruby song so I think it makes since to reference here. As for Sky is Falling it’s because that song seems like it could be from the hound who was a silver eyed warrior and who says “close your eyes my friend” and in this song it says “open wide” so it seems in defiance to that song where the person it’s from this saying to give up.
This was the final character development we needed the finish to how she’s grown from a young energetic girl who just wanted to be a huntress, to now saving her sister, her friends, and the place she’s fought for, absolutely incredible finish to our Powerful Red Rose 🌹
I have been a fan of RWBY since the beginning, with Guide my Way probably becoming my favorite RWBY song of all time. And this is hands down one of the cleanest lyric vids I have seen for the show. I love the style choices for the coloring and fading in the silhouette first, then into the full image. Really well done!
I gotta say, i love that Casey has been giving us more Ruby focused songs, but i was , what was the word? sadden or ticked off? that they were all sad songs. Until the end, ruby's thoughts at the end of vol 7 (to be fair, she wasnt in a good place so), and thinking about Summer, and implying (to me) that come the final battle, she will give her life to save everyone else. Trapdoor, Ruby being depresso. and i feel like theres another song in there. But finally, Casey gives us happy Ruby song. and all it took was 10 years, and for ruby to kill herself. I saw on another video for this song that people were complaining that RLR P3 didn't sound like P1 and P2. But I just thought; isn't that the point?? Like, Ruby is no longer chasing after her mother. Not saying she's rejected Summer, but the whole point of Volume 9 is finding yourself, improving yourself, becoming whole. And Ruby did just that--she suffered through a lot, so of course she is going to take *her* song and make it her own, not hers and Summer's--but Ruby's. I kinda wonder if there will ever be a RLR4. I think there certainly doesn’t need to be now that Ruby has chosen to be herself, but there could be 1 more I think when Ruby truly finds herself. I’m happy with this being the last RLR though. We could still here RLR as Ruby’s leitmotif again.

While the other 2 songs have a following of each other, this onw feels unique, for me it screams "im unique". Making Ruby reborn and ready to face what is ahead. This song stabilishes it. It's completely new and devoid of what the other 2 songs brought melodically. It's perfect.

While the other 2 songs have a following of each other, this onw feels unique, for me it screams "im unique". Making Ruby reborn and ready to face what is ahead. This song stabilishes it.
It's completely new and devoid of what the other 2 songs brought melodically.
It's perfect.

Ruby hyping herself up more than likely. Casey's mother sung Summer's parts in part 2 but she didn't here
I think it's Ruby talking TO Summer. Same for most of the song, except the part where she explicitly addresses the "other side".
