Heck, the Republicans and their supporters, the International Brigades, many have lost the war, and Franco would come to power, at least we had all the good songs. Also, I'm convinced that had Republicans had won the war, it would have become just another Soviet satellite, though that fact doesn't take away from the bravery and courage of the International Brigades. My father's best friend went to Spain as part of the Lincoln Brigade and fell in battle. May we always remember their sacriface--even in a losing cause.
