Way better than a day at Disneyland. We sang all the songs I liked from Peter, Paul and Mary. Even got to sing the MTA song!

Such a hero. I used to watch his Rainbow series on NPR when I was 10, and very soon after I bought my first guitar for $45. He spent some time in the wilderness with other patriots during the blacklist until the Smother Bros put them on their show... "Big Muddy." I talked with Tommy Smothers in a bar five yrs ago, and there's such a story there. Thanks so much for posting this video!
I heard Pete in 1963,or was it 64 here in Israel. He just pulled up a kitchen chair and sang away, what a great folk singer and what we say in Yidush a mensh (translated perhaps as a true decent person ) Thank you !
He'd be appalled by what Israel has gotten away with in Gaza and the West Bank, with U.S. tacit approval. I'm sure he'd sing out against the the practice of apartheid
If Pete Seeger wasn't the best live performer in the history of Folk Music then he was certain in the top handful. Once in Moscow with only a banjo and a piece of paper with some helpful Russia phrases he got a crowd of 10,000 people who couldn't understand a word of English signing in four part harmony to "Micheal Row the Boat Ashore". There was something of the preacher about Pete Seeger that made people want to join in and sing along. David King Dunaway, in his biography of Seeger "How Can I Keep From Singing" relates that he was told by fans that "I go to a Pete Seeger concert for a hit of him".
I absolutely adore all of this! Miss you Man.. you had so much love in your heart and Soul for the Masses, and how we loved and appreciated you! Leader you were in Music and Peace!

Pete and his wife were down home 'people' and didn't like that.,.......so.....one night they snuck out and walked around in one of the BIG cities.......their Security was freaked, but they came back unharmed :-)

Mannajo,
You are 100% right. What can we do to get this message of PEACE and Love out to the world? One person has said
Think Globally act Locally. Are you a music person? Have you done anything about promoting Pete. I am a school teacher (Wayne County High School) I can help but I can not be the lead. I came across Pete while researching Martin Luther King. His "Letter from a Birmingham Jail "
is important. John Adams is another watershed PEACE writer. My email is wriggins@wayne.k12.ga.us

Man, he puts the biggest damn smile on my face! 😁
After another year of trying to levitate my small bubble of the universe, I again see how wise and talented and most of all how effective his gentle message was , that I respect Pete Seeger more.
I'm going to go seek some optimism with the rest of time I may have...
Can't love this man any more!!! He's simply spectacular, spirited, kind and generous beyond words.
One of a kind! We need him more than ever today.
So blessed by this. I was born in 1963.
Rip peete seeger, I found you 040 years too late.
Hello Anni, How are you doing?
@@dean5220 i am an old woman who like the sixties, everything i was denied, i will demonstrate for now,I am 64,what do you want sonny?

Thanks for sharing cheered me up
Everyone should see the documentary "The Power of Song", an excellent journey through his life.
Thank you for sharing the information. Maybe I've seen it, with a Portuguese tittle.. I'll look for it.

me too, I knew him. He was very gentle and unassuming.
Thank you for the welcomed suggestion. Woodstock generation granny Olympia Washington
@@5starsecurity listen n watch him and the children from beacon sing "forever young"
Lucky people to have witnessed this, and so well behaved too!
Just discovering the beauty and simplicity of this man and his music. I hope i can bring it back to the world.
I saw him at a benefit concert in Rockville, MD and he signed my long neck banjo.
Happy 100th birthday, Mr. Seeger, a role model for all the ages!
Feels like one of the greatest moments in the history of humanity
If Pete Seeger wasn't the best live performer in the history of Folk Music then he was certain in the top handful. Once in Moscow with only a banjo and a piece of paper with some helpful Russia phrases he got a crowd of 10,000 people who couldn't understand a word of English signing in four part harmony to "Micheal Row the Boat Ashore".
There was something of the preacher about Pete Seeger that made people want to join in and sing along. David King Dunaway, in his biography of Seeger "How Can I Keep From Singing" relates that he was told by fans that "I go to a Pete Seeger concert for a hit of him".
is there footage? that would be wonderful to see
Seeger, Phil Ochs, Joan Baez
I absolutely adore all of this! Miss you Man.. you had so much love in your heart and Soul for the Masses, and how we loved and appreciated you! Leader you were in Music and Peace!
Happy 100th birthday weekend, Pete! We're gonna sing up a storm in your honor tomorrow in Cambridge. Thank you for still being a huge inspiration for singing together and taking risks for much needed justice and peace.
What a surprise!!! I love Pete Seeger!! And each new vídeo I see is such a pleasure to me. Thank you so much.
Am in floods of tears listening to him what a star
I always loved how he truly came alive when he could get the audience to pitch in - he gleamed
THAT was his outstanding quality!
His mild voice got ALL voices to join.
he had the best rythm banjo playing style. Always talking gently and solidly always the truth and how he could get people happy and singing.
What a perfect man, know wonder the American Government hated him.
Plus every America patriot.
georg schnidt McDonald's poisons your bodies, CNN poisons your minds. You are still killing 400 people a year in Vietnam mostly children. Your agent orange has caused many deformities, is that American Patriotism? Stop listening to your media. Visit Vietnam, you would think differently.
His Commumist Party membership was the problem.
Everyone listening before election day. Make the right choice.
7 pm 11/4/20. Looking good but really tense. My vote might be one that's still in the count in one of the yet undecided states. I'm hoping for just a small shift in the Senate race which is realllly close.
@@lexyswope Joe's the man.
@@ptambini1344 Looks like I get another chance to turn the Senate on January 5. Both candidates in the Georgia runoff are for we the people.

That spiritual feeling is so strong I can feel it now. 1963.
Beautiful Plus! Thank you for this opportunity!
The pioneers of folk music will live forever
I love this man.
A song that will live forever (or as long as there is war)...
Holy cow that's all I got to say.
Good old Pete....what a grim audience in the background...hard going.
Just another great great musician ,and so many of the kind being human, that this world is lagging in
,.. thank you Pete Seeger for who you still are in the spirit of the kind ..
This is what youtube is about
here here
Exactly. It's a bit late but I'm with you. Thanks
I still listen all the time. Don't study war no more. And remember, don't forget the melody!
As an atheist, I'd like to shout a hearty "AMEN" to this....
I will second that
I was a friend, as his son in law was a college roommate of mine, and he and Pete lived near me :-) So I'll share a story: so at dinner one night, Pete told this: Pete and his wife were Guests of the Indian Govt, and they had Govt Security and couldn't just take off and walk around. Pete and his wife were down home 'people' and didn't like that.,.......so.....one night they snuck out and walked around in one of the BIG cities.......their Security was freaked, but they came back unharmed :-)
Pete Seeger was a time traveler, came back in time to help us with his music..
