I hope you've enjoyed my pandemic trips in the UK - I've really enjoyed my domestic travels AND I am pleased to say I am posting this video from Europe where I've filmed six fabulous videos. Flying is back! And so am I - next month I head to Mexico and the United States where I have no less than 31 (THIRTY ONE!) videos lined up to film featuring everything from crazy Mexican budget carriers to the USA's shortest flight, mega Amtrak trips, some luxury business class long haul, two brand new American carriers and of course, JetBlue's new transatlantic route to London!
Please do enjoy this trip to Barra and I hope you like the slightly vloggy style of video, which I have done as a bit of a one-off. You should definitely get yourself out to the Scottish islands if you get a chance!

Great video Paul! There actually is an airport in Scotland that can be connected by rail and that's Glasgow Prestwick Airport and its one of the stops before Ayr which is the final destination on the route from Glasgow Central.

Glad you've finally done this flight. This flight is one of my all time favourites!!! Unfortunate seat tho. The best is 2A (row 1 was not sold last time I flew for safety reasons) and after chatting to the flight crew before the flight they decided to give us a mini tour of the island before landing. We were lucky and had incredible weather. You should have gone and seen the "castle" in the bay and had a cream tea at the local.

Take the train up to Oban for the ferry, but leave enough time to visit the McCaig's Tower, Oban Distillery and try some very good fish & chips. During periods of track Maintenance on the West Highland Line, the Caley sleeper gets routed to Oban (not sure yet if they have fixed the various issues that plagued the new stock & Sleeper franchise.

Flying around the Falklands can be fun too, many runways up or down the side of hills and often with sizeable bumps or ditches across them. Aircraft delivering a bus stop service, plus the bonus of the wildlife. Flying to the Falklands is a unique experience, with Ascension Island and being intercepted and escorted by fighters a bonus.

Barra is indeed a magical place. I've been twice and I'd love to get back there for a third visit. I've never flown there, although I've flown on Twin Otters many times in years gone by in Canada. The Western Isles are definitely a place where the old adage, "If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes," holds true. BTW, the ferry you've shown at 21:35 is a smaller vessel that shuttles back and forth several times a day to and from the neighbouring island of Eriskay. The Oban ferry is a much larger, multi-deck, ocean-certified ship.

Love the twotter - And flown on them many times up here in Greenland. GreenlandAir - Now Air Greenland used to operate 2 of them. My dad was an aircraft tech with the company for 49 years, so have been around them alot. Even landed on the Greenland inland ice with them, and C130´s from the NewYork Air National Guard on some of their training and logitstics flights up here... But Landing on that beach, is surely now on my bucket list. Great vid buddy

Potential trip idea, if you want to do more Ferries. Irish Ferries has an route from Dublin to Cherbourg in France, which uses their flagship ship W. B. Yeats. That Ferry has an number of classes of rooms, including several suite's. They even have an couple of premier suites with private Balcony, and walk in wardrobes (separate lounges and bedroom) which might make good content for the channel.
