I have had the oneplus open 1 for almost a year, iv gotta say it's the best phone iv had in pretty much every way. It blows my Fold 4 out of the water. It's really durable too iv dropped it countless times.
@@63447In my opinion, the software is the fastest and smoothest in the industry. It makes a two-year-old Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 feel just as fast or faster than the newer 8 Gen 3 and even the Elite chip. The reality of this is simply Oxygen OS works very smooth and of course the fact that they have 16 gigs of RAM in the device doesn't hurt. Oxygen OS is not as software enriched or bloated as Samsung, but it does offer a lot more than the Pixels do with base Android. FYI, the OnePlus Open already has Android 15 and we're still waiting on that for all the other Samsung models.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 thanks for the insight. I've been thinking about going to oneplus because after 6 generations. Z fold 6 is still just a z fold 3 soon to be the same for z fold 7
I've had a zfold since the z fold2, but the lack of serious innovation and upgrades to the cameras seriously has me thinking about getting the one plus open 2
That is what is driving a lot of folks to look elsewhere. Their cameras are just too midline now and most other foldables are better. It's a shame they seem not to be concerned. It may be like this until 2026 because a lot of their focus is on helping Apple with their foldable release for 2026. They may go with another design. Just my thoughts.
Hey, they'll lose tons of sales if they don't upgrade those cameras! My old S21 Ultra has better ones, and they've shown they *can* upgrade-look at the Z Fold 6 special edition, only in Asia, because they know the competition's fierce. But in the US, there are only two other foldable phones right now. I've gotten free upgrades, lucky me, because their prices are insane. Check the Z Fold 6 sales-way lower than the Z Fold 5. Honestly, if I don't get a free upgrade, I'm sticking with my Z Fold unless the Z Fold 7 has better cameras.
@mustec1 I believe so. Since the OnePlus devices are already priced 20% or more lower than Samsung and Pixels and even iPhones, if the prices go up 10% to cover the tariffs, they'll still be priced lower than the competition. Even at the same price, OnePlus can be a better value with their competitive hardware.
The Honor Magic V3 does look really nice. I have not yet been able to get my hands on one to try it out. For me, the thing that's holding it back and why I waited is it only has 12 gigs of RAM and they say the OS is not as good as other foldables. And I figured if I waited a little bit I'd get the OnePlus Open 2, which will actually have a little bit better specs, especially with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite. Other than that, I think that the Honor Magic is probably a great phone. Thanks for tuning in to the channel and commenting. I appreciate your support. 👍
I've had the magic V3 for about 2 months now. Easily the best phone I've ever owned hardware wise. The battery lasts a ridiculous amount of time and seems to charge in about 15 minutes. The OS is where it falls down compared to Samsung, however, updates continually improve the user experience on that front. The Samsung 7 will still be a brick compared to the Honor and OnePlus Open2
@@JasondranoffThere's some annoying things with the software. Like constantly being told you have power draining apps running in the background. There's no way to stop those notifications. I have to actively open my blink camera app everyday to activate notifications or it just won't send them when someone is at my front door. Other than that I can't complain.
I have the OnePlus Open now and I switched from a Zfold 6 and I don't think I can go back to a Zfold unless they really improve it. I'm really looking forward to the OnePlus Open 2.
That's a very familiar experience. I've heard the same thing from many others who switched. We'll see if Samsung steps up this year. My guess is they will do minimal to get by this year and 2026 will be the bigger upgrade.
What is the camera performance ? Im having s23 Ultra, it's camera is way better than any fold.. and much better than iphone 16 pro max that i also have.. is oneplus open somehow comparable at least to the older s23 U ? ( If you had chance to use it)
@12587drago OnePlus just needs to up their game on processing. I'm hoping with the new Snapdragon Elite chip it gets a lot better. If so, then I would say yes it can compete with the Ultra, but it's still a wait and see.
I've been saying the same thing about Samsung's lack of innovation in the foldable market since the release of the Z Fold 4. The straw that breaks the camels back for the Z Fold 7 will be a sub 5000 mah battery, the same camera setup as the Z Fold SE, and anything less than 45 watt charging speeds. The One Plus Open 2 seems to have made upgrades in all of the previously mentioned categories, which will be problematic for the Z Fold 7.
@@GeoTheBlaxican Great minds think alike. Sounds like we're in 100% agreement. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your support. 👍
As soon as the OPPO Pen is verified, I will order one. I held off when I returned the OPO because I thought maybe they might do something different. This is really cool - thanks for the review.
The important thing to me that I failed to mention in the video is that they are moving to a stronger and lighter material and more durable internal screen. 👍👍
What I failed to mention in the video that is really important to me is that they are going to use a stronger and lighter material for the body and a more durable internal screen! Now that excites me. 👍👍
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 i have to say it all excites me. Even though I generally speaking, do not use wireless charging, I thought, oh well, that's nice that they'll have that. And not only do they have it, but they have at such a fast rate. They really are an amazing company.
One of the actual great things about the OnePlus One is that it comes with a case. You can also find cases for the phone on Amazon and other places. I'm certain the OnePlus Open 2 will have cases available for it as well.
I'm using the Pitaka case with the front cover from a different cheap case because Pitaka is only the back. I actually like it a lot. It's very light weight.👍
I get that. The software is a good experience with Samsung. If you've never tried the OnePlus OxygenOS software, you don't know what you're missing. It's surprisingly fast and more feature-rich than most people realize. I respect your view. Thanks for watching and commenting; I appreciate your support. 👍
I've been tempted to buy a Chinese foldable but samsungs trade in values are what keeps me with them. No other company even comes close in this category. I'm a fan of the narrow screen, and I know I'm in the minority.
Sounds like you are their target audience. I love and take advantage of the trade-in too for my review phones. There's a large fan base for the narrow screen. We'll find out how big of a fan base if they dismiss the narrow altogether.
Current leaks show that the Snapdragon 8 elite in OPO is getting the binned version of it, 7 cores instead of 8. singlecore still impresive mmulti less.
@raxcentalruthenta1456 That is definitely a personal preference. It doesn't bother me. In the 2nd version it seems to have been reduced a bit. I'm looking forward to reviewing it.👍
I'm really trying not to buy a Chinese foldable due to some of the pains of owning one, but Samsung is really starting to fall off with their specs and like you said they are eventually going to lose a lot of business due to it. they're going to lose me sooner or later and I do spend a lot of money with Samsung year in and year out
OnePlus is Chinese hardware but it's a "Western" ROM. What is your hesitation? My biggest hesitation is their awful customer support if the phone breaks but Samsung isn't much better
When we’re spending so much money on a phone, having solid support for the device is absolutely a top priority. It’s something I always factor in. Now, after using the OnePlus Open for over a year, I can confidently say their service has been good. Each time I’ve needed help, OnePlus has stepped up and resolved the issue at no cost to me. My situations were pretty unique, kind of one-off issues, and from what I understand, not common. But I’ve also heard from others who’ve had problems with Samsung and Pixel devices, and their experiences with service haven’t always been great-sometimes even worse. That said, needing to call for service is always a bummer, but at least OnePlus stands by their devices. If accidental damage is a big worry for you, I’d highly recommend getting phone insurance through a third party like Allstate. It’s much cheaper than what carriers offer and usually gets you a faster response. One warning though-once you try a OnePlus device, it’s hard to go back! They’re just so fast and smooth. The OS feels very familiar, more like what we’re used to in the US and Europe, not like some of the other Chinese OS setups. I agree, Samsung seems to be slipping a bit lately, so I’d definitely steer you toward OnePlus. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Hopefully, this helps answer your questions, and I’m sure others will chime in with their experiences too.👍
I agree with you. Although I think support is difficult to deal with across the board. It's never fun having to jump through the hoops to get service. 👍
@@jebaker2 I agree, customer support it key. Samsung support use to be great and now it's a total war to get them to do anything.. honestly, I'll probably pull the trigger on one of these phones this year. Thanks bro.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 i honestly don't know how you can use their uI system. There skin is such a bad copy of apple. An honestly I can't support a company who's nationnis stealing our tech to help their companies.
They didn't need to make the screen any bigger on the OnePlus open 2. As it was the perfect size and very manageable for taking pictures for doing work on it was just big enough and when closed the size of a normal phone
@StevenCorbo1220 It's all about competition, my friend. All the other folding manufacturers are going eight inches or higher. Apparently there's been a study showing that the perfect size front screen is a 6.4 inches. So in order to make that happen, the minimum of an eight inch screen on the interior is required. It's actually not going to be a very big change for the OnePlus 10 Pro to go eight inches. Between it and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the difference is minimal. Thanks for tuning into the channel and for commenting. I appreciate your support.👍
Idk man I'm coming from a fold 4 to a 6 i love my 6 to durability to pretty much anything it better than the 4 by far I will say camera could be better but other than that I have no complaints ❤ I love the options to color to better cases and trust we need drop proof cases
I love my OnePlus open, came from the zfold 4. I used to delete 9 out of 10 pictures with the Sammy, I keep 9 out of 10 on the opo. The crease is way nicer on the OnePlus. I think I will get a vivo or Xiaomi next.
Great story, thanks for sharing. I would take a closer look at the OPO 2 before you purchase one of those other models. I believe it will be far superior. Thanks for watching! 👍
Mr. G.O.T. Great video and im so glad ur a proponent of the OnePlus brand, especially the OnePlus open. And thank God you dont drink the Samsung koolaid like some other reviewers. I have the OnePlus open and cant wait for the OnePlus open 2. In your humble opinion, do you think OnePlus will give some good "trade-in values" and will they make buying the OnePlus stylus more accessible to the US? Glad you're feeling better, but you still have a little "froginess" in ur voice.😊 Take care n God bless
Thank you, you're right my voice isn't full back but at least I feel good. I believe that OnePlus is at least going to give us a 50% trade-in value on the new OnePlus Open 2. What I mean by that is, if it's coming out at $1700 or $1800 then they'll give us hopefully $800 to $900 trade-in value on our current OnePlus Open. At least that's been the trend that I've been watching for the Oppo Find N trade-in value since they've already put out three versions of their phone. And in case you didn't know, that's the exact same phone as the OnePlus Open, just with the brand name changing and actually better software in the OnePlus. As far as the pen goes, I don't believe that they're going to actually make it a OnePlus pen. You have to still get it from Oppo. It sure would be nice if they adopted the pen and started selling it as well. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support. God bless you and happy New Year! 👍
Hi. You forgot to mention that Chinese electronics are known to have "back doors entrance" built in as part of their national security standards. There's a reason why Chinese brand security electronics are not allowed in Government and federal grounds.
I don't know much about that so I would misspeak if I mentioned that. I thought the government tested them all and only found a couple manufacturers breaking FCC regulations. OnePlus never made a ban list. If you have information on this please share, I would love to be more informed. Thank you for your input and support. 👍
I wonder why they downgraded the zoom camera megapixels? I know MP dont mean everything amd post processing with AI and the new chipnwill be much better but still seems odd.
The only thing holding me back from buying the Open 2 is the terrible customer service reputation Oppo has for long delays on fixing phones and the total lack of follow up from the company. I've researched this service issue after buying the Open 1 but still sent it back due to widely reported screen issues. I didn't want the trouble. Samsung needs to get their act together and stop dictating what we should buy and give us what we ask for. They're losing me and I'm sure thousands of others will follow to other manufacturers. All these reviews are appreciated but the customer service complaints are rarely addressed.
I've put out a couple on OnePlus Service. All manufacturers are about the same for me because I have to mail them in. OnePlus has gotten better since they opened up more service centers in the US. Cut my last service time in half. You still have to stay on top of it and they respond every time. Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate your support!👍
But I agree with you, for me too a wider outscreen display like oneplus open got is perfect for me.. And so huge difference between the battery charging speeds too 50w wireless charging is so good.. Can sell my z fold6 for 1100$ and buy a nicely used oneplus open 750$.. Kinda tempted, but waiting for the oneplus open 2.
Though competition is great ! But the reason why Samsung is playing it safe it's because of the slow pace of foldable market. To me, the reason I'm stucking to Samsung is One UI 6 and 7 and the modern design. But those Chinese foldables are juste insane 😮 thanks for sharing
100 agree Samsung software is just better and with the new Fold 7 specs (wider front screen) that's it for me... That was the only reason I didn't upgrade
I mostly agree. Samsung can play it safe because they own the carrier market. Pixel has only broken through the last couple years and is offered by carriers now. OnePlus has an uphill battle not having the carriers offering their devices. I can't see the Z Fold being the foldable phone to get in 2025 but I'm excited to be proven wrong. I'll review it for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. I appreciate your support. 👍
I've been a OnePlus fan from the beginning, and I'm anxious for the release of the Open 2. My one concern is that threatened tariffs on Chinese imports may make it uncompetitive price wise.
I'm not worried about that. Avoiding political talk, I think it will get worked out. OnePlus has opened repair centers in the US so they're preparing for more sales and service which is a good indicator they plan to do well. 👍
You're right. They released the OnePlus Open on October 26, 2023. So since one is not released in 2024, people including myself mistakenly say they skipped a year when in fact they just didn't release in 2024. Thank you for calling that out. I appreciate your support! 👍
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I'm talking about photo and video. No one sets rid of the it completely any means but some do it better than others and that's something OP should definitely address. Be the first to make it way better is what I say. Innovation! 😉
Agree, the Fold 6 SE is not even available in europe. I think they will cheap out with Fold 7. So oneplus could be a nice option. I just love the s-pen on Ultra model. choices choices....
I'm not yet convinced a foldable is something I need personally, especially given that I'd have to justify spending anywhere from $700-$1000 than your traditional slab flagship. Now if we get a Pixel Flip model maybe this year or next and it's mostly as good as a Pixel Pro device besides maybe slightly weaker camera like is the case with the current Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and sold for no more than $1,000 then I could see it being an "OK" value. I just don't myself needing that large 8.0"-ish book style foldable inner display enough to make it make sense for me.
All that matters is that you know what best suits you. You clearly know yourself well, and hats off to you. Which bar phone do you carry? There's still a lot to choose from there that are great devices. Thanks for tuning in and commenting. I appreciate the support! 👍
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I've been a Pixel fan/user the last few years starting with the Pixel 6, then 7 Pro and now the 8 Pro. Waiting to see what Google has in store with the Pixel 10 series later this year and likely upgrade to that. I really enjoy your no-nonsense straightforward take on breaking tech down. I definitely agree that Samsung really is feeling the pressure now in foldable arena particularly from the Chinese OEMs. Whoever is making decisions over there needs to turn this ship around fast before they give up even more foldable marketshare to their key rivals.
@ArthurZakaryan23 I'm excited to see what this year's foldable brings to the Pixel market as well. The rumor that they are changing chip manufacturers to a more dominant processor that will rival the Snapdragon perks my interest. That may be the Pixel to get. All I ask is that they reduce the bezels on the front screen and put the true flagship cameras in it. Rumors should start to unfold in the next couple months. 🤞
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 Excitement over the Tensor G5 definitely have to be tempered. For anyone that knows what Google is prioritizing with their chips, all out dominating performance is not high on their list. They've made it very clear that AI and Gemini functionality is the future for Google as a company and Pixel devices are one of their main avenues for seeing those goals play out. Also rumors this year are pointing to an even sooner hardware launch event than even last year's August release and Pixel leaks are notorious for how early they come out and the quantity of the leaks. Won't be long before we get even more concrete leaks.
@timothyfischer5160 I agree the crease does get more pronounced over time. That said, the newest phone is the Z Fold 6 and it had the most noticeable crease since the release, then the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the least crease is the oldest one which is the OnePlus Open. That is with the three I have.
That is perfect logic. I think the goal is to make them have the same footprint folded as a standard flagship. I can confirm that folded, they are just as solid as a slab phone.
Yes sir,I understand the goal but don’t you think they would be more vulnerable to breaks while using unfolded in case of accidental drops..also,a hefty body may compliment & accomodate a robust hinge in maintaining a foldable in shape imho
@adityajain3697 It really depends on the quality of the build. I'm not walking around with an open fold in my hands. I'm typically still or sitting. I have dropped them open and closed and have yet to damage one any more than a bar fold. I've owned 6 foldables and the only issues I had was a factory defect that occurred from normal use. This was covered by the manufacturer and replaced. I don't believe the ratio is any different than the standard phones. In my opinion.
My big question is customer service, and repair issues. I can't send a phone back and not get it for 2 months. It's my only daily driver. If you have any opinion in customer service and repair turnaround
They are on a 15 day turn around by creating more service centers in the US. They did cut the turn around time in half in my experience. It still took a month but it's getting better. I don't have a service center near me for any manufacturers so I have to mail mine in for any service.
It'll be really interesting to see what they do with the cameras. The new Oppo line seems to have downgraded the camera hardware a bit in favor of being superthin, but could be that the new processor and AI could counter that? Seems like Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is still the foldable camera to beat but mainly because of software, not hardware.
If they don’t change the dimensions to increase to size of fullscreen view with videos to make it significantly more than the screen on a phone then it’s a no from me, the only reason I want a foldable it for it to be an iPad mini view when open. Otherwise I’ll wait for someone to release a dual fold tri screen design in the west.
@InimitaPaul I hear Samsung is working on a trifold. It may be a couple years before we see it and we don't know if it's a phone or just a folding tablet. I totally understand, I don't care for the big black bars and tiny video either.👍
I have the pixel 9 fold and the OnePlus open and I can't see the crease in either one like you can Samsung. And this guy is pulling them both up and saying see how you see the crease. I can't see the crease in his either so I don't understand how nobody's making a comment about that. He's just very on the OnePlus . I've actually had a lot of connectivity issues with the OnePlus in the last couple months before that it was a great phone
I agree the Z Fold has the worst crease of all. Between the Pixel and OnePlus, it becomes extremely noticeable outside in the natural light. The OnePlus Open has an anti-glare which helps it. When I put either in my car mount, the Pixel crease reflects like crazy making it extremely visible where the OnePlus doesn't. I challenge you to put them both outside or even in your car outside, you'll see it too. I do appreciate the challenge, and don't mind being called out. I still use the Pixel more because of the AI and camera processing. But the OnePlus feels smoother. 👍
According the Google Gemini, the availability of the OnePlus Open 2 in the USA has slipped to July 2025. So when you say in the video that will be available in "weeks", yes like 30 weeks.
Gemini isn’t always the most reliable source-it’s let me down a few times! Google definitely has some work to do on that front. For the latest and most accurate updates, I’d recommend checking sources on X or following tech news channels. At the end of the day, though, there’s still a lot we just don’t know right now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts-I appreciate it! 👍
It varies honestly. Depending on which phones are going to be in the video I use the ones that aren't. The majority of the time it's either the Samsung S23 FE or the Pixel 9 Pro. The Pixel has better true to life color but can at times get hot and reduce image quality if I film longer than 30 minutes. Great question. 👍
You're seriously kidding yourself if you think Samsung will ever be out of the game as top tier. And the Fold se is not what you can speculate as to comparable to the Fold 7. That would be highly suspect.
I can only report what I research and find from all the news sources, leaks and rumors, same as anyone else. The fun is the speculation and it goes both ways. Everything said was with the big word "if" in front of it. I will be the first to admit I don't have a crystal ball and know what the future will hold. Samsung has too big of a market share and a monopoly on carrier support right now so it would be insane to think they will ever be out of the game. That said, they can lose consumer interest in their foldables if they don't keep up with the rest of the market.
The OnePlus Open 2 won't kill the Fold 7. Software is everything, and OnePlus lacks in this department in terms of updates. It took them seven months to upgrade to Android 14. Unacceptable. I'm happy with my Fold 6 and will be getting a Fold 7 or Fold 7 SE in August
I don't know about Android 14, but the OnePlus Open received Android 15 before the Z Fold 6. I do agree the Samsung OS is one of the best out there, but have you tried the Oxygen OS? I agree no other fold can kill the Samsung Z Fold because of their partnership with all the carriers right now. The point I'm making is Samsung can't continue to sit on its laurels and not make substantial changes and continue to keep the lead. I'm sure when all is said and done, Samsung will step up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinion. I appreciate your honesty. 👍
As of recent, it looks like all signs point to Samsung forfeiting 2025. The Z7 fold will be another incremental update. The problem is the other foldables have not managed to push this genre into the mainstream, so it may not matter if the Open 2 is better as it didn't matter that much with the Open. Samsung has time to drag their feet. 2026 is projected to be the biggest year for foldables.
I believe you're right. I do however don't believe it has anything to do with the other foldables' performances and everything to do with Samsung's market saturation in the US. Carriers have only recently agreed to carry the Pixel devices so they have started to show more popularity. If more foldables were offered by the carriers, Samsung would be pressured to be more competitive. Even Apple sales have dropped because of people moving to the Pixel 9 series phones. The popularity of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is growing as well. It would be nice if the carriers would offer the OnePlus products, then we would start to see some real competition. Thank you for your insightful comment and support! 👍
The crappy thing about OnePlus is no main US carrier offers any of their products anymore. So you’re stuck paying full price at someplace like Best Buy. More people would try them if the ease of entry was more available.
Ultimately though those postpaid carriers end up charging you more per month just for their coverage. The one time I've gone through a post paid carrier and finance the phone I completely regretted it. Whatever money I saved by getting a subsidized trade in for 800 bucks for my old Note 9 or whatever I lost within six or nine months just from paying a postpaid carrier nearly a hundred bucks a month. But yes I do understand when you're talking about an $1,800 device that's rough. The best opportunity is probably people buying the OnePlus open OG version. But when it's 2 years old you'll probably be able to find that for $700.
You're right about that. And I also remember when the carriers would not cover the Google phones either, which was crazy. And now a lot of them do. I think you pay a bit more premium for phones when you buy it from carriers, so I don't do that anymore anyway. You also get a lot more trade-in value when you go through the manufacturer in the beginning. The carriers can offer great trade-in value, but there's always a gimmick attached to it. I don't typically pay full prices for my phones anyway, so that's never been an issue for me. I've always got something to trade in to bring the price down, or I make sure to wait and buy them at a reduced price. Thank you for tuning in to the channel and I appreciate your comment and support! 👍
I totally agree with you. And the one thing to always remember, it's just the first time that you have to really suck it up and pay the money. Because next time now you have a trade-in that will cut the price typically in half on the next one. Of course, if you have something to trade in with the first one that they'll take, you can also get yourself a pretty good discount at that point as well. I appreciate you sharing your experience here. Thank you for your support! 👍
Its over. I waited for Samsung to improve my Fold 4 and they stalled. My Oneplus 9 pro is my backup and is a beast. The software and speed are a better experience. If the open 2 delivers these rumored specs, plus a better camera, plus stlyus support on both screens im switching.
I believe they will deliver with the exception of the stylus which would have to be purchased through Oppo. The last version of the Oppo Find N used the stylus on both the inside and out screen.
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 , there is also the rumor of mag charge capabilities. Folks dont understand how fast OnePlus phones charge until they get one. Its a game changer.
@Cheftman4408 You're right. The next version is supposed to come out with wireless charging and also be MagSafe. That'll be a nice addition to what's already a great charging phone.👍
Oneplus open 2 will be perfect with Vivo x200 pro main camera.. i don't know why they are sticking with hasselblad if their sister company Vivo have the best camera in any smartphone.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 they have contract with hasselblad for several years. So there is 1% chance that they will improve the camera in open 2 . It's sad, because 1+ have good brand name, lot of fans, great software and hardware. Only thing that is keeping people away is their camera... I will pay 3k € for proper oneplus open 2 with vivo camera any time.. but for now, even my s 23 Ultra shoot much much better than any folding device out there... And by light years.. nothing is even close..
Why do you want all the companies phones look identical? It's better with variety.. I love the z fold for it being so good to use one handed. But at the same time I'm ready to try out oneplus open 2. Boring if them all look the same. I just got my first flip, z flip 6. Best start to 2025 ❤🎉 the corner bezels are so big and ugly on the Google pixel 9 pro fold (hate that name)
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 It's not been discontinued. The guy is wrong. They just discontinued the dedicated Dex app for Windows and are promoting Dex users to use Windows Link instead which has the same features as Dex.
That is no surprise, the cameras haven't changed since the Fold 3. That's awesome you're still enjoying the quality you're getting out of it. The faster processor is really the main difference. Thanks for watching and sharing. I appreciate your support! 👍
Im not sure i agree about Samsung having a lot of bloatware. Back in the day that was true... but not so much anymore. I always buy unlocked, though... maybe the carrier versions have extra bloatware.
Yes, they've certainly gotten better at trimming out a lot of bloatware. You're right the carrier models still come with it which is what I buy unlocked as well. That said, if you go through the phone apps and features there's so much not used that wastes space and resources. Plus if you want a couple extra features that should be in the phone you have to download larger feature packs with more apps and features you will never use. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of the Good Lock apps, I just think most of those should be on the phone already. I'm sure most people don't even know the phones are capable of more because they have to install the extra features. So that's what I mean with bloatware. But I honestly don't know if that's why it feels slower than the OnePlus, it could just be the difference of 16GB vs 12GB of RAM. Samsung needs to step that up. I appreciate your thoughts, thanks for sharing. 👍
The Chinese phones are always better but until we have better support here in america most people don't want the hustle of having to send a device away for service and not having a extra phone hanging around like influencer has 3 phones so no problem for them
As a five year z fold user now enjoying my Fold 6, it is safe to say that you can find a Samsung fold repair shop anywhere. Tell me where are the One Plus Open repair stores?..Bueller, Bueller.
That said, there are more Samsungs circulated so more service centers makes sense. OnePlus just opened a few in the US this year to support the growing number of customers.
One plus hardware was definitely better when it came to z fold vs One plus open. Main thing is the software. One UI on Samsung is so much better then one plus software. Main reason I ditched my one plus open and back to samsung
I think it all boils down to your use case with your device. I find with the items I use on the phone, the OnePlus Open is much faster and has better features for what I use. The Samsung to me is a little disappointing with the camera + the front screen being so small makes it difficult for me to really do my daily routines without opening the phone. Samsung does have some good lock features which I do wish were on the OnePlus Open, but there are other workarounds to get the same functionality. At least that's what I found. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience. I appreciate your support. 👍
Yea... Samsung supplies the screen for the One+ Open... "This Samsung screen is 3% better than THIS Samsung screen..." Hahaha! I'm not a fan of folding phones period but I think Samsung wins walking away when it comes to the overall experience. I really doubt that Samsung is going to stop producing folding phones or go out of business over the One+ Open. What's really funny is that you mention the Samsung Fold 6 SE, which is basically the Fold 7. I'm not sure that the Open 2 beats the Fold 6 SE, much less the Fold 7. Besides, this is all conjecture about two phones that won't see the light of day until this Summer. Picking a "winner" at this point is silly at best.
Yes it may be early but what's the fun in just waiting. 🤣 People thrive on conjectures. Besides there is no guessing on the Samsung side of it, we know the Z Fold SE will pretty much be the 7. The SE in my view is the Z Fold 6 with a larger screen and more RAM. Using both the 6 and the OnePlus Open the OnePlus is a better well rounded device with better cameras with a larger screen. This of course is all personal opinions which we all have the right to. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support! 👍
one plus now has a HUGE opportunity to CRUSH Samsung this iteration by offering high trade in for z folds and making the Oppo stylus available for purchase with the (Oneplus Open 2) phone...... WATCH them drop the ball. They're not very smart business people LOL
The video was all based on the Z Fold phone, not all of Samsung. I truly believe that if Samsung doesn't really step up with the Z Fold, people are really going to get tired of it. Now, of course, that's just my view. You are welcome to your opinion and I appreciate you sharing it here. BTW, LG has stopped making phones since 2021. 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support.
I can't argue with you there. Samsung is like the Apple of the Android devices. Many of the other manufacturers have good ecosystems too, they just don't have the market and carrier support Samsung has. Check out the news and you will see Samsung is pulling back on some of its features and ecosystem so they won't be able to make that claim. DEX is being phased out and the partnership with Microsoft is fading as well. Something is going on there at Samsung that may change their course and popularity. We need to keep an eye on it. Thank you for your insightful comment and support. 👍
Until they finally cut the artificially stupid high prices, no matter what folds they make, I'll stick to the regular phone. Yes, i Wish to have a fold, but it's simple plain dumb to spend more on a phone than on a high end PC. Amd we all of that that pricing has no justification. Maybe for the first 2 or 3 gens of folds, but now 7 years after folds entered mainstream, there's nothing
If the phone is amazing. Samsung got to much brand name recognition. Also the Samsung design looks way better. I just dont buy the one plus because I dont like the design as much. The Samsung fold se is damn near perfect.
I get it. Many really like the minimalist look. I thought that at first, but the performance and cameras won me over. I'm not trying to impress anyone with my phone design that's why I stay away from Apple. I don't need a status symbol, I want a great working device. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your support. 👍
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I would say Samsung is right up there except cameras but it also has an s pen and it's software has some better options too. One plus is great phone but personally the cameras don't mean much to me because all the photos you take with phones now and videos are pretty damn good and I use 0 social media besides youtube. I personally hate apple and think is bandwagon as hell but I still think the fold 6 has some better stuff than the one plus. But i get it on paper one plus is much better
The Vivo x3 Pro Fold sounds very similar to the OnePlus but just a little thicker. The difficulty with the Vivo and some other models is that they don't have the correct radios for the cellular service in the US and the OS is not as familiar as the western systems on the devices, making them more difficult to get and use globally. I do hope that one day there will be more global friendly versions available so I can review them. Thank you for your suggestions and support. 👍
@kevkavalier Sorry my friend, I've had a serious cough since Christmas and still can barely get a sentence off without coughing. They finally decided I have bronchitis and hopefully now I have the right meds to get rid of it. You're the first to call it out. You have a good eye. 👍
Chinese tech is lagging, I reckon. That Google Fold was a brick - heavy, clunky, and no customization. The Oppo N2 Fold was good, the OnePlus Open was bigger and better, and the Samsung folds (3, 4, 5) were okay, but those front screens were awful. Unfolded, though, they were amazing. Now I'm using the Honor Magic V2 - got it for £700 brand new, and it's the best, easiest one yet.less people buying, cheaper you can get when is older than 1year .low demand lower cost by time. More demand, higher prices
I'd like to warn all of you guys.. OnePlus is no way to go. I've owned iPhones Samsung folds and no folds and OnePlus Open now and I regret.. fair amount of bugs and glitches on OnePlus and I'm trying my best to switch back to Samsung and Apple
Sorry to hear your experience hasn't been good. I've experienced good and bad in all brands so it's not unique to OnePlus. Thanks for sharing your concern. 👍
I don't understand how anyone can enjoy one plus ui skin. It's full of bloat wear, gimmicky apps. Speckwise, yes, they have a bigger battery faster charging, but decrease is just as noticeable as a pixel and samsung.
Humm... You definitely have a different view. I welcome and respect your opinion. That's truly all we have is personal preferences. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support! 👍
I have had the oneplus open 1 for almost a year, iv gotta say it's the best phone iv had in pretty much every way. It blows my Fold 4 out of the water. It's really durable too iv dropped it countless times.
@@chriswalker83cw Thank you for sharing. I agree, it's a great design and performs better than all my foldables. 👍
Hows the software tho
@@jsb13x13 I hear ya and agree. A new processor is not enough. 👍
I've been a Samsung loyalist for years. I'm really thinking of getting the Open 2.
@@jsb13x13 I have the S21 ultra as well and if the Z fold 6 was better I'd be getting it. I don't understand what Samsung is doing.
Would we able to afford it when the trade tariffs kick in ?
@mustec1 I believe so. Since the OnePlus devices are already priced 20% or more lower than Samsung and Pixels and even iPhones, if the prices go up 10% to cover the tariffs, they'll still be priced lower than the competition. Even at the same price, OnePlus can be a better value with their competitive hardware.
Honor magic V3 out now thinner 66w charge, 50w wireless charge and 6.43 inch screen. And pen works on both screens.
The Samsung 7 will still be a brick compared to the Honor and OnePlus Open2
hi does the V3 work in USA on Tmobile? 5G?
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964but how's the software? Bc that for me is 80% of the experience
If so, then I would say yes it can compete with the Ultra, but it's still a wait and see.
no s pen-Dex
I've had the zed fold 4 , and now the Zed fold 6 , so pleased with both , So Won't be Changing anytime soon, hold and operate one handed perfectly...
I get that. There is a fanbase for the narrow screen for one-handed use. My hand or fingers aren't long enough for me to one-hand the Z Folds. 👍

I'm really interested in the OnePlus open 2... do they make cases to protect the camera while still allowing easy opening to full screens?
One of the actual great things about the OnePlus One is that it comes with a case. You can also find cases for the phone on Amazon and other places. I'm certain the OnePlus Open 2 will have cases available for it as well.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 great! Thank you! I've been a s21..22..23..24 Ultra user and I'm considering giving the OnePlus open 2 a shot when it's dropped.
@Brett_Nebraska That would definitely be the one to get this year. I'll be getting it. 👍
How do you like that pixel fold case?
I'm using the Pitaka case with the front cover from a different cheap case because Pitaka is only the back. I actually like it a lot. It's very light weight.👍

Will oneplus open 2 work on Verizon easily just by inserting sim card??
My One Plus Open works on Verizon so I would think the new one would.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 awesome thank you!

True. The new design refuses the camera bump.
Current leaks show that the Snapdragon 8 elite in OPO is getting the binned version of it, 7 cores instead of 8. singlecore still impresive mmulti less.

Mr.

@Jasondranoff same here, Z fold 7 is up to be the star this year
I mostly agree.
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 That's good news about the repair centers. Fingers crossed on the pricing.

They technically only prolonged the release for a few months not a whole year.
You're right. They released the OnePlus Open on October 26, 2023. So since one is not released in 2024, people including myself mistakenly say they skipped a year when in fact they just didn't release in 2024. Thank you for calling that out. I appreciate your support! 👍
When is it coming out?
We don't have an exact date but it is said to arrive in the first quarter, typically at the end of January.
I just hope that they offer good enough trade in deal with the Open, if I need to pay north of a grand to upgrade then I won't even bother.
I'm feeling the same way.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I posted a post on the community regarding this problem with OnePlus, they don't seem to bother at all
OPO just needs to make sure the telephoto lens has better stabilization beyond 30X
I don't believe any manufacturer does beyond 10x. You honestly would need a tripod at that point. I'm assuming you're talking about video?
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 I'm talking about photo and video. No one sets rid of the it completely any means but some do it better than others and that's something OP should definitely address. Be the first to make it way better is what I say. Innovation! 😉
It needs to at least match the vivo x fold 3 pro
Agree, the Fold 6 SE is not even available in europe. I think they will cheap out with Fold 7. So oneplus could be a nice option. I just love the s-pen on Ultra model. choices choices....

@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 yeah good with competition. Will check OPO2 as well :)
@Andriy-t5s That's a great deal. All one needs to do is shop wisely; there are great deals to be had! 👍
For me, the crease seems to get worse with more use. If you are comparing a new phone with one that has a bit more use, it isn't quite fair imo
You are 1000% accurate.
Thank you for watching. I appreciate your comment and that makes you 1000% accurate too..😂👍
I don’t know why foldables are being made thinner..this may compromise durability in the long term imho
Yeah I live in the mountains so there's no service center next to me. Still my daily driver can't live without a phone
@pattybelletete3524 I know what you mean. It's good to have a backup device just in case. 👍
I don't think I could have put it better myself. That's exactly the way I think about it. Thanks for watching and confirming my thoughts! 👍
I have z6 and I love it 🥰🤩
@gokux97psn56 The Z Fold is undeniably a great phone. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support. 👍
I love my fold 4
Release date ?
All they say is the 1st quarter of 2025. So somewhere between Jan-Mar.
What phone are you making your videos with. Those shots when you want to show a close up of the phones look great.
I lost it when he started spouting nonsense about how an old-chip OnePlus is "smoother".
Have you seen many reviews or tried the phone yourself. I'm not the only one. ua-cam.com/video/b1C4TqK0_nU/v-deo.htmlsi=SXEHUbHftU_hQM5S
OPO 2 IS going to kick the tech out of the Samsung foldable!
Agreed! 💯
Watching this on my Pixel Fold
Great phone! Thanks for watching!
I've got the one plus one open, worth to upgrade?
I believe it will be worth it.
@@12587drago Interesting point. We'll have to see how it performs with all the new hardware and updated software.
And by light years.. nothing is even close..
fact
How does this phone compare to VIVOX4 fold
Can't say, I never tried a Vivo product. I would love to review one.
Congratulations on your first flip foldable. Those are fun phones. 👍
FYI Samsung Dex has been discontinued and will not be in the next major version of OS
Interesting. Can't say I'm surprised, not really enough use cases for me to use it.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 It's not been discontinued. The guy is wrong. They just discontinued the dedicated Dex app for Windows and are promoting Dex users to use Windows Link instead which has the same features as Dex.
Oh boy!
👍
They sell people on the cameras..shits crazy. Thats the main selling point. My z fold 3 works just as good as any phone. 😂😂
The Chinese phones are always better but until we have better support here in america most people don't want the hustle of having to send a device away for service and not having a extra phone hanging around like influencer has 3 phones so no problem for them
That's a true statement. I just happen to be fortunate to have spares.
I am passing on getting anymore Samsung Folds. They are getting lazy with innovation. The outside screen is not even usable
@@YobranColon No argument here. The next one may be larger but the rumors keep going back and forth.
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 Fair enough. I personally gave up on folding phones with the Z Fold 4... I have tablets EVERYWHERE Hahaha!
@@londenard Nothing wrong with a good tablet. 👍
one plus now has a HUGE opportunity to CRUSH Samsung this iteration by offering high trade in for z folds and making the Oppo stylus available for purchase with the (Oneplus Open 2) phone...... WATCH them drop the ball. They're not very smart business people LOL
Well, I'm looking for at least 50% trade-in value. Let's Go...... OnePlus!
It's never over for samsung everyone has Samsung or Apple nobody wants to around saying they have a LG or Google phone 😂
Begging of the video is bull. I could see the crease almost exactly at the same points.
It's difficult to reproduce on camera. The OnePlus has an anti reflective screen which truly makes a difference in person.
Dude, if can't touch the Z line ever because of samsungs software and eco system period.
Open has 16gb ram. Dex is shite. Very poorly implemented.
@@barriemoorcroft534 I agree, thanks for watching,.I appreciate your comment and support! 👍
i agree it's over for Samsung and Google in terms of foldables LOL Chinese Foldables are safe like Honor, Vivo
Samsung definitely needs to make changes to the Z Fold line, it's so overdue.
That is a well stated point. One of my best purchases this year was a $499 Mac Mini.
@@kevinsho2601 Fair points. Thank you for sharing. 👍
Oneplus rocks... Period !!!!!
Agree 💯👍
Vivo x3 pro fold 😮
The Vivo x3 Pro Fold sounds very similar to the OnePlus but just a little thicker. The difficulty with the Vivo and some other models is that they don't have the correct radios for the cellular service in the US and the OS is not as familiar as the western systems on the devices, making them more difficult to get and use globally. I do hope that one day there will be more global friendly versions available so I can review them. Thank you for your suggestions and support. 👍
I THINK YOU NEED NEW GLASSES
"You know what, I’ll look into it-pun fully intended!"
A nice phone with good specs still just a niche product
Interesting view. Foldables are up 300% while bar phones are drifting downward.
Dude, how many freakin edits are in this video? Super Duper Pooper ANNOYING!
@kevkavalier Sorry my friend, I've had a serious cough since Christmas and still can barely get a sentence off without coughing. They finally decided I have bronchitis and hopefully now I have the right meds to get rid of it. You're the first to call it out. You have a good eye. 👍

All this flip phones are straight up crap
I don't care much for flip phones myself. I'm more of a larger foldable fan. I can appreciate your opinion. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Smart purchase, thanks for sharing! 👍
Trading my ZF6 for S25 U. Done with foldable, realizing it's a gimmick
The S25 Ultra will be a great phone. If I didn't lean toward folds, that would be my phone of choice.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 but OnePlus is definitely the most stable one out of all Chinese brands
I don't understand how anyone can enjoy one plus ui skin. It's full of bloat wear, gimmicky apps. Speckwise, yes, they have a bigger battery faster charging, but decrease is just as noticeable as a pixel and samsung.
