the royals really fucked around and found out. All Roz had done prior to this volume was more or less of her own volition. She got Ana and Eg together because she wanted love to flourish; she offered the joint research mana to the royal family to help them and wanted them involved to learn the importance of prayers and get more divine protections; she agreed to help transcribe documents because it would help out and she wanted to read them anyway; blessing the starbind she only attached some very minor conditions to agree to it (the sov high bishop rep won't suffer, gets permission from Syl, her guards on stage with her)
now they're learning what happens when she demands payment for services rendered and oh boy

@@cgames5671 she took it from Sigiswald when he tried to use his royal position to pressure her into accepting being adopted by the king. Merchant Saint
First she forced a dedication ritual at the ra during the Archduke conference to collect enough mana to buy herself, Ehrenfest, and the Royals a years time to prepare for her move to be adopted by the king
Her conditions of adoption: 60 magic tools for new children to use to become nobles; a rule in place that nobles can only marry into Ehrenfest for 5 years; the Ehrenfest Sovereign nobles made to return to Ehrenfest each year to socialize (they stopped because of Veronica and had not returned since); a hidden room for Ferdinand to improve his situation in Ahrensbach or to return Ferdinand to Ehrenfest (sigi goes with the former); she is to be given access to all the palace libraries; her most important condition: Sigiswald must give her a library, at least as big as the one Ferdinand gave her when he left since surely a prince has such a collection
The Royals accept all her conditions except for her personal library in a final discussion with Sylvester. Ferdi being Ferdi was rich as shit and it would bankrupt the country to meet that condition. Rozemynes disappointment is immeasurable that she's going to have to marry Sigiswald the bookless scrub but she accepts, ultimately
(I might have missed some of her conditions but those were the main ones)

I have to agree about the Gutresite hidden room. The same princess that created Schwartz and Weis created the room and the locks/tests to enter the room. She built the programming that locked away the real Gutresite to ensure a bloodline is needed to obtain it. That requirement is not in the Gutresite itself, the princess added it by creating the room and the guardian Shumills.

Yea… Rosamyne’s threat is no joke, “you see her” point to Eglantine.
“Yea her. The ex-top ranking arch-duke candidate, and current royal. She tap out after failing to finish 1 shrine. Me? I finished 6 in one go, and had spare. Now imagine if I get emotional and unleash them mana on yo ass as crushing.” Cue Anya smile. “Now little b**** boi, what do you all plan on doing to Ferdinand? I think I fail to hear you last time.”

Under her standard compression, before the expansion of her capacity through the absorption of the shrine slates, I have calculated that Rosamine had between 5 and 6 X as much manna as Eglantine did.
After the doubling of her capacity through the shrine slates, this increases to more like 10X.
I calculate that all of the washing spells that she did on the shrines that day would equal eglantine total capacity. Furthermore, eglantine probably had enough rejuvenation potion to recover her entire mana supply 2 -3x over.
She used between 3 and 4 * her total capacity to get 90% of a shrine done to a God that she never had prayed to.
Rosa got about 40% of her mana expended by completing a shrine to the god of life, that was a little under halfway complete.
That would indicate Rosa would have to output approximately 60-90% or more of her total mana to fill a shrine to a God she had never prayed to.
This indicates her capacity was no more than 5x eglantine in the best of cases.
However, after the events of the seventh book in part 5, it is possible that her capacity exceeds eglantine by over 15x.

    Rozemyne is turning into Bonifatious(?).
They are already really similar. They love/adore their younger family relation. Have large amounts of mana. Are prone to whim spawned escapades that require others to rush in to contain the collateral damage, but within their chosen fields are highly competent.

I feel like people forget that Rozemyne was not married to Wilfried to make him Aub, but to keep Rozemyne in Ehrenfest, which is something Rozemyne herself wanted. Neither Sylvester nor Ferdinand wanted to marry Rozemyne, so Wilfried was engaged to her instead, and since she clearly gathered an immense amount of support, his other siblings didn't stand a chance of becoming Aub. Charlotte was a woman so she couldn't be engaged to Rozemyne and Melchior was too young.
Of course, now the engagement will be cancelled, which also means that Wilfried's position is no longer guaranteed.

" I feel like people forget that Rozemyne was not married to Wilfried to make him Aub, but to keep Rozemyne in Ehrenfest " That's mostly untrue ;). The " keeping Rozemyne in Ehrenfest " stuff was used by Sylvester for convincing Rozemyne and keeping Wilfried oblivious of his real political situation, perhaps Aub Ehrenfest even convince himself along the way, but that's not as if Sylvester was fit for his position or aware of what he really is and/or does, so... If the goal was to keep Rozemyne in Ehrenfest, declaring her heir was the most efficient method, likely the only one that could stand in the long run ( and if convincing her to shoulder the position should be impossible, it would have been easy to let her withdraw after she was married and become a minister, Sylvester could be Aub for at least 2 more decades without problem ; anyway to make any Ehrenfest AC marry out in their current situation never was a realistic option to begin with, which speaks volume of how unfit Sylvester and Florencia are for ruling when they considered marrying Charlotte off was not only thinkable, but a good move, the ridiculous fools ). The fact is that before the engagement, Wilfried had not a chance to become Aub, yet Sylvester never, ever considered anyone else, not for a second, no matter what he chose to believe and say. I'm afraid that Sylvester never really grew out of the little child obedient to his mother...

    1) When Benzewanst tried to kill her parents and make her a grey priestess.
    2) The trombe fight.
    3) Count Bindewald.
    4) The assassination attempt where she ended up in the jureve.

  • @Tenshi6Tantou6Rei
    @Tenshi6Tantou6Rei Рік тому +3

Okay, but let me bring up a point.
Yes, she did help the royal family avoid civil war. However, one should keep in mind that they were only in danger of that civil war because Sigiswald was going to wage one for the throne and Anastasius was going to wage one over Eglantine. If Eglantine obtains the Glutrissheit and becomes Zent, it's just the same situation building back up again. Sigiswald is not going to appreciate NOT being Zent and he's gonna go to war about it, even though Yurgenschmidt can't afford another one. Hell, they're still paying off the balance from the last one. And if the country collapses it's not going to Ehrenfest, her family, or Ferdinand much good dragging them down with it. Because unfortunately, national-scale disasters tend to affect the whole nation.
In that way, Roz going "Your country, your problem" doesn't really apply, because it is in fact also her country. I believe that Anastasius and Eglantine are doing this out of their selfish desire to protect Eglantine from conflict, but I don't think that they aren't, at the same time, seeing this as the least damaging path forward for everyone. Meanwhile Rozemyne - who let's be clear has a consistent history of being short-sighted and not really considering the larger fall out of the things she does in light of what she wants to see - isn't thinking this through to the end and all the implications that comes with. Ferdinand usually does that for her, and never managed to teach her to do the same
Are A&E going about it the wrong way? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean that Rozemyne isn't also operating on faulty logic

I am a little sad that no one brought up my favorite comedy moment from this volume, or maybe it did not make this final cut. When Rosemyne's knights except Leonore are getting ready to go hunting in the Ehrenfest gathering spot she tells Cornelius, "Yes, but I am sure you will gather for me the most wondrous feystone" and immediately after we have Elvira writing down notes furiously.
I am firmly in the camp that Eglantine and Anastasius acted reasonably though their actions were harsh. Eglantine I suspect was putting on her noble façade even though they were using silencing magic tools on their shrine loop trip. Acting selfishly does not constitute ungratefulness, I have seen some comments conflating the two, Eglantine must be fully aware of how much she owes her current circumstances with Anastasius and being able to communicate on a personal level with him to Rosemyne but there are two intertwining reasons why she must put Rosemyne forth instead of stepping up herself. Her trauma as a six year old of seeing her family pass out and then seeing a warzone while her former wet nurse/attendant sacrificed themselves as a distraction so she could allow Klassenberg knights to rescue her linger strongly especially with the attack last year. That trauma intertwines with the fact that she most likely knows from Anastasius that Sigiswald would ABSOLUTELY at least attempt to start a civil war if he is taken out of the running for Zent. Anastasius is acting in the manner that he believes will protect his wife the best, everything else is secondary and he is up front with that fact. One can question the morality of such a philosophy but admittedly I respect the commitment to a singular goal come hell or high water.

So many things i want to talk about in this book. Well
First. I dont believe that Anastasius and Eglantine are trying to be malicious towards Rozemyne. I think this is more deperation. Ananstasius proposal for what to do with Rozemyne was trully best thing he could do for her given the circumstances. Like Rozemyne said he was rude but not wrong. In Eglantine case is more of the PTSD. She was ready to go to the temple in order to avoid a war even before she met with Rozemyne.
Second. Trauqeral readyness give Zent title to anyone with Grutrisheit may look like him wanting to pushing work to someone else, but i dont believe this is the case. We can see that in Magdalena. She is also ready for this power change and willing to support Rozemyne as much as she could. She is even going against her own child. I think that both of them know how much they need Grutrisheit and that they cant effectivelly rule without it. Unlike Sigiswald who is even thinking that Grutrisheit is not needed for ruling.
Third. Its amazing to the point of plot armor of how much Royals are blind when it comes to Georgine and Ahrensbach. Ahrensbach is keeping the most stupid rule in country and are not willing to change it, Detlinde is just waiting for her execution, Raublut is suss as hell and even Rozemyne talks about that its strange how much he is trying to push blame on Ferdinand, Fraularm destryoed evidence of atack on Zent in dormitory in front of eyes of everyone and she isnt even hiding her attempts to pull down Rozemyne. Ehrenfest for some reason is trying to avoid contact with them as much as possible despite rules being close family. All of this should be screaming that something is wrong there. That they should question everything about them. But nope. We believe in single point of contact(Raublut), that nothing is wrong.

Can I say how surprised I am that people haven't noticed the parallels between Sigiswald/Hildebrand and Wilfried?
Sigiswald and Wilfried were both certain of their position, near wilfully ignorant of how poor of an understanding of the situation they have and almost blind to the yawning pitfalls they are happily marching towards.
Whereas Hildebrand and Wilfried were too naïve and ignorant to realise how easily manipulated they are. They reveal too much critical information without realising and all but tear down defences around allies vulnerabilities.
And no Detlinde is the worst variant of Wilfried. She has all the above but is also completely incompetent and immediately attacks anyone SHE has decided is below her.

Concerning Eglantine: she became Rozemyne's friend, then subsequently showed herself willing to use Rozemyne for her own ends (as opposed to Adolphine, who did the reverse). Rozemyne sees this as a betrayal, but (as Anastasius points out in the next chapter) it's actually normal for nobles to act like this. " it's actually normal for nobles to act like this " Maybe in this era, since nobles of this era are actually short-sighted and privileging inefficiency over efficiency, but it's pretty clear that nobles of this era are abnormal, Rozemyne is the most normal one of all. For instance, Yurgenschmidt lives entirely on mana, it's clear that mana should be expanded freely, yet it's something that is essentially unthinkable for nobles. Besides, the very symbol of the Zent is a freaking Divine Book belonging to the Goddess of the freaking Wisdom, yet it's considered normal by nobles of this era for high ranked nobles to not even enter libraries and for their temples to be essentially filthy brothels where they dump the most unworthy nobles they can think of. And, in fact, even for nobles of this era, that's not that normal. Anastasius and Eglantine plan is for Rozemyne to do the job while they harvest the benefits and hide her in the shadows, which is essentially the Veronica's method, but that's not considered a normal method outside the FVF and, in a lesser measure, Ahrensbach ;).
Anyway, the problem with Eglantine here is less what she does than her utter hypocrisy, covering her utter selfishness with so-called righteousness and considering a child tantrum for Rozemyne to be unwilling to shoulder Eglantine's responsibilities, when Eglantine herself has refused to shoulder them for more than half her life ;).

Of all the royals we've seen so far Sigiswald is the most unlikebale of them all. I dislike what Anastasius and Eglantine did to Rozemyne but they at least acted out of desperation and to prevent civil war and I still like them over all. He is just and arrogant prick who thinks he knows everything better, doesn't value the Gutrissheit despite it's obvious importance, treats Adolphine like shit even after she became his fiancee, etc.
I honestly like Trauerquall the most amongst the royals despite only seeing very little of him. He only wants what's best for the country, even if it means for him to abdicate the throne, is ruining his health and living of potions to keep the country afloat and clearly is somebody that's in way over his head and trying to do what's best. He never appeared arrogant and sincerely gratefull for her assistance with gathering mana.
I haven't read further than this volume but I hope he doesn't get assassinated in some way. I suspect Raublutt to be in league with Georgine and Lanzenave and with the anti magic cloth it could be really easy to enter the sovereignty or Ehrenfest and assassinate someone. I believe the plan is for Lanzenave to invade and take over, Georgine to take over Ehrenfests foundation and either become Aub of both duchies/merge them togheter once a lanzenave royal with magic (probably from adalgisa villa) is on the throne.
But one thing I wonder is if the world is only dessert without supplying mana to it and only in Yurgenschmidt do feybeasts drop feystones, then how do other countries even exist. Lanzenave could never get enough nobles from the adalgisa villa to supply an entire country and even if they built up their own nobility over time it would be hard unless it is a lot smaller. Even with the feystones that were sold to them it sounds like a lot and all the other countries should have died off after the gates were closed. Unless I misunderstood something about the way the world works or an element hasn't been explained yet. I'm curious to see if we get answers to those questions.

Removing Wilfried would save her dearest sister from a miserable marriage allow Charlotte to take the role she wants and has trained for and keep the dutchy from backsliding. The only reason Wllie boy has survived so long is that Sylvester has protected him out of some sense of a guilty conscience since he knows Georgine should have been Aub and making his carbon copy Aub will somehow be some sort of vindication so he has made everyone else get behind this little idiot and carry him to success.

I think that a more nuaced view needs to be taken with those side stories.
What comes off as contrivence may be intentional because the story itself is hinting that more is going on than can be taken at face value.
For example characters may be up to more than they appear or may be being manipulated by 3rd parties. layered atop that is what we see always being filterred through the characters own perception or narrative.
In this book i think the author is pulling a fast one on us by switching up the writing style of the side stories themselves.
IMHO, This book shows us a mixture of stories. Some showing us how some character pecieve events as they happen but also showing us one story that shows us how a certain character wishes to be percieved by others, obscuring their true motives. 🤔

Considering how Rozemyne's schtappe absorbed the tablets from within the shrines, I would not be so sure that the current adult royals are screwed for certain. They hint quite heavily that by visiting the small shrines first.
If that is the case, I thinkt Trauerqual and his older sons might, with enough prayer and effort, one day be able to finish the shrine tour as well, but with how they are pouring essentially more mana than they have into the country, and only barely keep afloat with copious potion use, that won't happen anytime soon.
In the moment I was very, very upset with Eglantine, but now looking back after calming down... she didn't expect anything from Rozemyne that she wasn't willing to put herself through either, which I guess does count for something. But not even showing any sympathy for her still doesn't sit well with me, after everything Rozemyne already had to go through and everything she already did for both the royal family in general and Eglantine in perticular. But there's the whole unreliable narrater issue rearing it's head, so I'm unsure and going to wait for the time being.
I wouldn't necessarily call Ahrensbach's succession rules in and off itself the stupidest thing ever out the box. I can even see where they are coming from. The rule was almost asuredly meant to prevent conflict and assassination attempts between a "spurned" sibling and the new Aub. Or put in other words, it is their way to try to prevent a Georgine/Sylvester situation and that makes sense.
The brothers and sisters are demoted, but the parents and grandparents are there to tide them over, until they can get three wives and then later plenty of children. In addition, they could adopt other nobles - maybe even the very same family members they demoted - to bring up the numbers to what's necessary to supply the foundation. And the rule clearly worked for centuries, so the rule itself is not the issue.
The problem is how stupidly Gieselfried stuck to it, even in the face of the royal family suggesting he abolish it. When disaster struck and he lost two of his wives and several of his children, he didn't bother to remarry or adopt any other children, to bolster the archducal family's mana. He only bothered to finally adopt someone, when he was running out of successors and even then only adopted a single candidate for the successor position years down the line, but none to help in the here and now.
So yeah, the rule itself isn't the issue. That Ahrensbach is going down the drains can be very squaly put at the feet of it's Aub. Then again, I would not be the least bit surprised if Georgine had used every ounce of influence she had on her husband to make everything deteriorate so badly. Because she sure used Ahrensbach's falling apart, to bind the Werkerstock nobles to herself and thus increased her own powerbase very well. And since her goal is to become Aub Ehrenfest, it won't matter much to her if Ahrensbach falls apart. It might even help her, since Ahrensbach's weakness will likely open many lucrative opportunities for a "helpful neighbor."
There is one problem with using the Grutrissheit to destroy the royal family... two actually. First, that would pretty much guarantee that Rozemyne would become Zent, which she very much does not want to happen. And second, that would also mean hurting Hildebrand, whom she likes. And to be fair, all the shit she's been getting has so far came from Anastasius and Sigiswald, with some minor participation by Eglantine (more through what she did not say or do though, rather than any action taken). Trauerqual has so far been nothing but respectful and thankful for Rozemyne and even got really angry at his sons, over how poorly they are treating her.
It's difficult to me to say whether Sigiswald or Anastasius is worse. Sigiswald is exceptionally ignorant, but seems to be quite the softie, once he's made aware of what kind of anguish and turmoil he inadvertedly caused. Meanwhile Anastasius brutally savaged Rozemyne emotionally, intentionally, to get what the country needs out of her, but also is helping her where he can in his own more-or-less tsundere way. So... at the moment, sure Sigiswald is worse, but ignorance can potentially be educated, meaning he might one day become the preferable ally to Rozemyne. Also we've seen in the negotiations, how well Rozemyne can walk all over him if she puts her mind to it, where Anastasius would have put up a whole lot more resistance, so... I suppose that counts as a point in Sigiswald "favour" in terms to how benefitial he is to Rozemyne... kinda...
I was quite surprised when Rozemyne nearly ran amok over not getting a personal bookroom. She just got granted UNLIMITED access to the TWO biggest libraries in the entire country at all times of day and night and doesn't seem to care one bit for that, instead she only complains about not having been given a personal book room. In the past she was all about reading books, not possessing them, so this shift to owning a bookroom feels rather out of character to me.
Remember how overjoyed she was to being let into the temple and Karstedt bookrooms, how happy she was with the Archduke castle bookroom and how absolutely extatic she was upon entering the Royal Academy Library, all cases were she didn't own a single book in them? What happened to that Rozemyne?
Though I absolutely LOVE Rozemyne's "That was rude, but he's right." And they say she has no self-awareness. ^^
I am not fond of Adolphine. She's a hypocrite. She complains about Sigiswald being entitled? When she mourned for not becoming Aub, she didn't think about how she was the best candidate, or how she loved her duchy so much she wanted to lead it, no she thinks only about it being her right and how that was stolen from her. In other words, she's just as entitled as Sigiswald in terms of the position they feel they deserve.
She complains about being forced to marry someone against her will, when she tried the very same thing by forcing Ortwin to marry Rozemyne, despite his protestations. The only difference here is that she failed in spite of her efforts.
She complains about Sigiswald treating her badly and ignoring her feelings? Again Ortwin. She told him straight to his face, that she wants to force him to marry Rozemyne and become Aub, so he can support her in her position as princess. Not for his sake, not for the sake of Drewanchel, but solely for HER sake.
For me, this chapter drove the nail in Adolphine's coffin for me, just as much as into Sigiswald's. In isolation it looks bad for Sigiswald and paints Adolphine as the poor victim... but put it together with Ortwin's chapter from way back when, and it paints a very different picture.
Sigiswald might even be the one that comes off of this chapter with a little less damage than Adolphine. When he did bad things, he did in part them at least in part for the sake of his country and the hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions of it's citizens. Adolphine on the other hand didn't mention or think about the citizens of her duchy a single time in either of the two chapters. Not A Single Time.
That she is perfectly happy to leave the entire country hanging, just out of sheer spite toward Sigiswald isn't earning her any favour by me either, but at least she finally got over that, when thoughts of Rozemyne finally managed to kindle some tiny sense of repsonsibility for the people under her care after all. So I guess there's at least a small positive this chapter did with her...
Overall I'd say Sigiswald and Adolphine really deserve each other. And maybe, they'll find a way to become better people together, but I doubt it.

I disagree with what you're saying about Adolphine and I think you've misunderstood some stuff
She was aiming to be archduchess. We know women aren't preferred for the role because pregnancy so for a woman to be considered she has to be above and beyond exceptional compared to her male siblings. Because of their tradition of adopting high mana children so they can learn the ADC magic, then be demoted and work as giebes (adoption gives them a legitimate claim to be aub so why would they not at least try and get it) the seat in Drewanchel is highly competitive, with siblings from the same mother cooperating with one another against their half and adopted siblings for the seat
Adolphine didn't even get the chance to compete for aub, simply because of her gender and being the child of the first wife. It's basically the same deal as what happened to Charlotte and Georgine. RAS Ortwin remembering how Adolphine cried learning her chance for the future was stolen from her. SSC1 how Charlotte cried when Wilfried and Rozemyne's engagement was announced, guaranteeing she couldn't be aub. Adolphine doesn't think she was entitled to be aub but she wanted to try, bemoaning she never got the chance to prove her skill (she's exceptionally talented, even at male socializing but holds herself back)
Adolphine has been the second thought in the whole Eglantine marriage scheme. She was always doomed to have to marry whomever Eg didn't choose, with neither prince even considering gifts or anything as should be proper. Yet she was still willing to support queen Eglantine. Only for Eglantine to choose Anastasius and them not to take the throne. Now Adolphine has to be queen, married to a man who doesn't respect her
the main reason things didn't work out with Ortwin and Rozemyne possibly becoming a thing is because of Wilfried. He bashed her to Ortwin. They actually would have gotten along great, two scholar class ADC's doing their research together. Ortwin see's how bad his sister has been treated just as a second thought fiance candidate and he's furious when he realizes, aiming to be aub so he can protect her. And why wouldn't Adolphine care about herself? Few will care about the individual in noble society (see Ana and Eg this volume) so it's on them to protect themselves. In this one pov we got of her inner thoughts she was taken out of Drewanchel so she can't think about it's citizens. Demonstrated through the switching of the capes, she's not part of her duchy anymore. She can't even address her family as family
Adolphine deserves much better. Justice for Adolphine

You bring up some interesting ideas that I would like to respond with my own as another long form comment enjoyer. I agree with the hypothesis that the royals that obtained their schtappe before becoming omnielemental could gain access with enough prayer but as both agree they do not have the leeway and going with someone who was is a much preferred option.
It took me my second read through to calm down and notice how characters like Eglantine were acting a bit off and came to similar conclusions.
The Ahrensbach law is much better once the idea of adopting some of those that were demoted is brought up. It is a handy way to deal with potential Georgine like people though depending on their actions depends how much work and trust they would get going forward. The Aub's hands were a bit tied with being forced to demote his second wife's children and due to the purge in general only one of his children was willing to give up a singular child for adoption. If it were his choice he would have done things much differently but he was breaking his back for the Sovereignty. I agree 100% with your Georgine bit.
Completely agree with the idea of destroying the royal family with the Grutrissheit is folly. Not in character for Rosemyne and would accomplish less than nothing for herself, those she cares for, and the country at large. Also the fact that the royal family's actions have been out of desperation and ignorance not cruelty or vindictiveness, they are acting like nobles though Rosemyne wished they would have treated more as a friend. This might all could have been avoided if Eglantine and Anastasius came to Rosemyne and said that there are foundational magic tools failing, they need the Grutrissheit yesterday, and if Eglantine tries there will be a new civil war please join the Sovereignty and what can we do to lessen the blow for you and Ehrenfest but this is not how nobles act.
I definitely lean towards Sigiswald being worse due to the impression we are given of not putting as much effort as his brother and expecting all the rewards. Even before this book back in Part 5 Volume 2 his reason for not putting forth his own scholars to hold the keys even though he distrusts Rosemyne is that they support his life and work not that there work is critical to maintaining the delicate balance the Sovereignty is juggling. Anastasius and Sigiswald would both be willing to start a civil war but Anastasius would be because of his love for Eglantine and Sigiswald would be for his title of crown prince/princess being given to another. Give me the embodiment of Ewigeliebe over the "I deserve due to birthright" every day of the week.
I look at the request for a bookroom a bit differently. Rosemyne wants a book room, ie the space for books, while it being full of books is a plus she has stated she wants to create the largest library in the country before. If they had just given her a villa with a large, multiple floor room to design to her hearts content that quite possibly could have worked. Merely checking out books consistently would not satiate her desire to be constantly surrounded by books. She needs the space at a minimum and regular gifting of new books if not a actual bookroom. Finally Wilfred did say as first wife she could do whatever she wanted with the castle library so she sees that as a personal space vs the Royal Archive and Academy Library while nice will not scratch that same itch.
I very much have a different perspective on Adolphine I see her thrust into a situation with some parallels to Georgine and while unhappy is not plotting murder and how to make everyone that put her in this situation miserable for all eternity. She had a reputation for being brilliant in the Royal Academy and if she mentioned for Ortwin to take her place as the next Aub I can not see a world where she was not the favorite for the job, earned through deeds as Drewanchel is a meritocracy. She is unhappy with her arranged marriage but it is an expected part of the world so I see it as something to complain about in private or with trusted confidants and publicly you smile and move on. Considering the inevitable rivalries that would exist in such a meritocracy wanting someone she trusts as Aub and giving advice on how to best put Ortwin in that situation feels like a no brainer, if someone else becomes Aub their relationship with Adolphine and by proxy the royal family could shift quite a bit. Ortwin acknowledged that himself that of course she would want him over any adopted or half siblings to be the next Aub. Her romantic advice while unwanted would also be massively beneficial to Drewanchel if followed; Hannelore would get the support of Dunkelfelger and that support between the two duchies might be enough to push Klassenberg from the top spot. The benefits of Rosemyne with Drewanchel's resources can go unstated I trust.
I think you give way to much credit to Sigiswald taking action for the country aiding tens if not hundreds of thousands of people, in this setting I have a hard time seeing the population be millions. Remember this is the same man that having the Grutrissheit would be nice but not necessary since the country is doing fine in his mind without it, instead of on the verge of collapse and in desperate need of a Zent with the powers of a Zent through the Grutrissheit. His actions are not only entirely selfish but feels as though he has nary made a mistake. Getting his second wife pregnant during the engagement period for his first wife is moronic and easily preventable due to the fact he could just have not tried to mix mana when engaging in the act. He had to be pushed to explain himself due to his thinking being as simple as "I ask for something to get done, person complies with no request of their own". He still has his guard up with his brother though Anastasius is doing every single thing in his power, including pushing Rosemyne's buttons and he owes her a lot, to let his brother be Zent. Any benefit for the country at large I see as unintentional since he seems to have a thought process as simple as "if it benefits me, it benefits Yurgenschmidt."

" If that is the case, I thinkt Trauerqual and his older sons might, with enough prayer and effort, one day be able to finish the shrine tour as well " It's unlikely. Their main problem is the very nature of their schtappes. No matter what, their schtappes aren't omni-elemental ones. It's pretty clear at this point that the current RA curriculum makes no sense and that there was a very good reason why the Divine Protection Ritual was performed BEFORE the schtappe acquisition, and likely why they primarily happened just before graduation.
