As others have stated, we searched thru UA-cam for a video such as this one. It wasn't easy! There are many such videos but all fall short in terms of what people are looking for. I have a podcast channel and was thinking about using a different lens that would fit my needs. Your video was exactly what I was looking for: there was measured distance, you put the lenses thru their use, and it was important for me to see how much background information would appear in the video. Thank you sir! Well done and thoroughly informational! You deserve more views.
I also have a podcast, and your reply literally translates my thoughts! From the difficulty of finding a video like this to the purposes of finding it! Kudos to Stuart for such a helpful video!
This video is absolutely underrated and deserves way more views. Time and time again, I visited this video to get a good comparison of the lens for my Sony A6000, and this video never fails. I'm not sure why this video is so hard to find. It truly is a hidden gem. I got exactly what I needed in order to do videos at home with my Sigma 30mm.
Hey Monica, i agree that is the best overall look. I would go with that lens, and invest in a mic stand to hover over your head at that distance for audio quality or just get a lav mic then your problems are solved. I invested in the 16mm as well, now I wish I bought the 30 instead, however, they both have their uses and it might be good to switch them up for different videos or within videos so its not a loss!
EXCELLENT video, practical, simple and so easy to follow, GREAT music!! The different focal lens really makes sense to me now which will help me to decide which one to purchase! Thanks much!!!
Just what I was searching for! Thanks for putting your measuring tape to good use. Since I want to stand up, and wave my arms about, you helped me pick the 30mm at 2m.
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I've always wanted to know the distance needed for these lenses so that I wouldn't run out of space with the one I'd buy, and this is the only video that's going to help me make that decision!
how do you only have 9.6 k subs.. You are really good. Content is crisp, enjoyable to watch and informative. I never hit the subscribe button so quick in my life !
Very informative, with everything well explained and right on point. A little side note, your accent and manner add extra points to the excellent content as well. Thank you very much.
Definately get 30mm if you have small room like 10x10 ft. and want to shoot video mainly and portraits occassionally , even if you have big room while using 56mm at 3m it is very hard to see yourself in camera monitor.
Hey Stuart, great video to understand the differences. What kind of lens should I use on the Sony ZV-E10 II for portrait shots? Use case: Vertical shots of me talking into a camera at my home desk, with heavy bokeh (extremely important)-for Instagram reels. Another detail-there is not a lot of space in the room. The desk is backed up to a wall. The distance to the wall is under 3 feet. Because there is a wall, and the camera is on a tripod slightly away from the wall, along with my face and torso with some headroom for any graphics over the head, I want the hands on the desk to be slightly visible. I like the bokeh in your video for 30mm but I'm not sure if that lens can cover my requirements mentioned above. For my use case, the 30mm seems too zoomed in as I'm not able to see your hands (I'm looking at it from a vertical video, Instagram reels POV, for UA-cam it seems fine). Which lens (30mm or 16mm) would help me get at least your level of bokeh (Of the 30mm) if not more for the use case mentioned above?
This has a touch extreme clarity. Now Im better informed. I have a 50mm lens and was wondering why my shots are closed up, and why my cloth has shallow depth of field, but my face doesn't. Now I know better. Thanks Staurt, this is super helpful
This along with your other outdoor comparison video are the best videos to make a decision about the sigma trio. Honest review and direct results. Thanks a lot.
Thank you! So many of these comparisons don't mention the distance at all. The ones that do only mention it casually. Thank you for the solid demonstration. Subscribed.
I think the coolest comparison is with the full grid of videos, all 9 on screen, and you can see the difference in the facial distortion along the diagonal. with what's being shown in frame being almost the same from top left to bottom right, but with the difference in the size of the nose being the most apparent.
One metre lens 16mm-vid 1 Two metre lens 30mm-vid 2(middle one)& vid 3(last one) Three metre lens 56mm -vid 3(last one) I think according to the field (room) the videos I pointed out are in good view u can see gestures , generally the body language which is best if someone is explaining something to you.....and on that if I would rather choose 30mm as the best on the list........😊 I hope am correct All in all thank u for the content u really helped my understanding 🙏🙏🙏 blessings over u mate
Thanks for this. Trying to find which Sigma lens I would need for talking head/livestreaming. I will go with the 30mm and the 56mm for my top down shots. Awesome, helpful video. A like and a comment for the algorithm.
Wow, this is very well done! Lots of comparison videos out there but they don't include all the details about the environment, settings, etc. I think I'm a new fan! Thanks!
Nice review Stuart. I'm using a Sony A6400 + sigma 16mm as webcam, but it's to wide. I'm thinking to change to 24mm or 30mm. This kind of video help a lot. I'm using 1080p quality, 4k quality overheat a lot my camera. Thanks for the video!
The Best! I agree with many comments, after multiple research on lenses, this is hands down the BEST video using compare and contrast teaching and showing the importance on how distance from the lens is the key ingredient when selecting a lens! Amazing video ✝️💰🥇
Hi Stuart I would like to buy the whole Sigma trio but now I have to choose one of the lenses. Which one would you choose for a vacation for evening photos on the beach, portraits on the beach, hotel at night? I have a Tamron 17-70 f2.8 and a Sony a6400. I would like a sharp lens and I think Sigma is. 🤘🏻
Two years later and this is still the best, most beginner friendly, explanation of focal lengths and distancing for youtube video. Thank you so much!
😂😂 thank you 🙌🏻
Stuart is like the only youtuber every APS-C E-mount user needs to hear. Love from India🇮🇳
Exactly, so many tech youtubers are a like "those are the only ten rf-lenses you need" 🤣 Very few people do relatable stuff like him.
Thanks so much Sasi - appreciate the support 🙌🏼 🇮🇳
Agreed! I'm so thankful that he put it all together for us.
I agree , the amount of quality and love he brought on apsc system. Part of the reason I have 16mm and 56mm and they are amazing lenses
Absolutely. He is a gem

so what lense did you end up utilizing my Brazilian Friend? Saludos 🇲🇽@@maestro.mentor
That's how you do a review, less of the technical jargon and more of showing how it actually works, super useful 👌🏽
This is exactly what I needed! To see how these lenses work on UA-cam talking head videos. Thank you!
Glad it came in useful Gavi 🙌🏼

What a FANTASTIC intro! Love it!
Thanks man! 🙌🏻
2 meters with 30mm is my choice
But most of us like the mic just on the top of the camera so 1 meter with 16mm is still hard to let go
Yes agreed - mic positioning does start to become a factor - keep toying with the idea of getting a Rode Wireless Go kit

Your comment is exactly what I was thinking, as I use my mic on top of the camera...! I think I will go with 16mm!
Agree! Looked really nice
man years later one of the only youtubers explaining everything so in depth...what a legend man thanks
@@kadosuniverse thanks for watching 🙌🏻
Thank you! 90% of these reviews don't mention the distance to the camera which is so important. Thanks again!
Glad it came in useful! 🙌🏻
Your comparison videos are the best especially for these lenses. I love how you show all the shots in one frame easier to compare them all at once.
Thanks Andrew - glad the videos are helping 🙌🏻
Brilliant. The 1 vs. 2 vs. 3 meter comparisons at different lenses is super helpful.
Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏻
Such a simple yet demonstrative video. Thank you so much. Very beginner friendly.
Thanks!
@@MikeLardi thanks so much Mike - much appreciated 🙏🏻
So the best lens for small studios is 30mm f1.4. It creates a nice bokeh without distorting the image too much.
Sure but I think 24mm/ 27mm is more fit in this case.
Amazing Review Stuart. Thanks for making this Talking head comparison on these lenses.
This video was the perfect explanation
It's simply the best comparison and I've been looking for it for so long! Thanks Stuart. You made the internet reviews make sense!
@@golosbezdoka thank you! 🙌🏻
