Fellow Filmmaker impressed me, Canon 60D Mark 2 and her footage was great. Almost everyone else had a Sony A7SIII haha so as a developing filmmaker, it was awesome to see a camera like the 60D produce high quality footage
As a cinematographer of about a decade - I'd say that having the newest gear and autofocus is horribly overrated. I have pulled off TV shoots with entry level Nikon DSLRs before for the American Heros Network. Skill beats the crap out of new and better gear. Though yes, I much prefer my newer pro gear over the now very old entry level stuff.
Gerald, that was DOPE! You have brought a seemingly untouchable arena of UA-cam to the masses. What I mean by that is you've made it real, authentic, and touchable. Having pros rundown what they use encapsulates everything UA-cam has done, in one fell swoop. I applaud what you've managed to do with the sheer diversity and inclusion of UA-cam mentors. Using a Ninja V just for recording that costs almost as much as the camera but provides no quality difference, only slightly better editing performance... Yeah, totally doesn't need expensive stuff.
@@gges1605 The Ninja V only records RAW from a camera that outputs RAW over HDMI. Thought that would have been obvious, but apparently people don't do any research before spouting nonsense. The a6100 not only does not output RAW video over HDMI it doesn't even shoot LOG. The only difference would be 4:2:0 vs 4:2:2 chroma subsampling but that is unlikely to cause any visible difference in the image unless you were keying a greenscreen.

Thanks for having me on! Wow, it was really Sony dominated on the camera front, and mostly full-frame too. Some pretty high-end setups, i think mine was one of the cheapest! Sorry my eyes looked a bit weird, I was tired and my colour was a bit off as I'd accidentally left my ND on indoors - whoops!
I actually said Aha out loud hearing your setup. Honestly many of these UA-camrs only have expensive cameras because either they can afford it or just like having latest gear. They can easily switch out with cheaper cameras and we'll not even notice.
This is a fantastic video. I REALLY appreciate the perspectives and actual examples of kit from so many creators i know and respect. The audio tips are most appreciated, as the Sony A7Siii is a beast and handles everything I need flawlessly.

My single strongest take from this video - you guys are awesome no matter what equipment you use, because you bring QUALITY CONTENT to the table. I am watching content from most of the content creators in this video and the one thing they all have in common is that they are working hard and delivering quality.

Wow the Sony A7S III dominates. More than 50% of the UA-camrs use this camera. That is very instructive. The Sony A1 is a superior camera, but it costs twice as much and the only real advantage is the 8K feature and it is doubtful, that most people will see any difference.

Yes! Especially with so many on the same camera (and a lot of similar audio), the other details would be great- lights, diffusion, settings, etc. as well as any ‘special’ things like sound dampening, remote/controls, and monitoring

Yes! Especially with so many on the same camera (and a lot of similar audio), the other details would be great- lights, diffusion, settings, etc. as well as any ‘special’ things like sound dampening, remote/controls, and monitoring
