"I used to go out on the sesh, now I'm filming bugs" is my exact journey 😂 Thanks for the vid, watching in 2024 and its still perfectly relevent for exactly what I needed today. Great job man, subbed
i love how much effort you put behind your work i have discovered your channel today and i just cant stop watching ur videos i hope you will keep making videos every week good luck i wish you all the best
Awesome. Thanks for the video. I've got the 16mm and want to buy the 105mm to shoot more details of art object. For occasional macro these extensions are really worth it especially for 30 and 56mm!
From what I can tell you're getting about 0.75x magnification with the 30mm lens and both extension tubes, which is pretty good. Extension tubes work well when your working distance is already long, but the 16mm sigma has a short working distance so the focus point with both extension tubes ends up inside of the lens, that makes it impossible to focus on anything. I already have a macro lens, but I recently got the Sigma 30mm 1.4 DC C and I want to try doing some macro stuff with it, mostly to judge its sharpness and IQ against my cheap ttartisans macro lens.
Man, your videos are amazing. I currently have a Sony A6100 and have a seller of a sigma 30mm lens for $200 I am talking with. I mainly intend on using this for close-up product photography and trading cards and collectibles, as well as turning the camera into a streaming camera when I open up packs of cards live on stream. I am hard-pressed wondering from all your beautiful shots if the 30mm or rather a 56mm would make more sense. It seems with extension tubes I may get better versatility out of the 30mm but I am super new to all of this and just been watching a ton of videos.
I'm looking to do some close up shots of EDC gear like knives. I want to put them on a spinning table and take some b roll. I have a sony a6400. Which lens would you recommend for that kind of shot?
Awesome video dude!! Great comparison! And straight to the point! Keep doing what you do! I ordered the tubes just because of how well you compared it! :) Great job! Still love my 16mm sigma.
Cool! I got the 16mm Sigma lens doesn't work with both extension tubes at once but, It could work with 16mm extension tube? Or It works only with the 10mm?
I was just wondering if I should buy a macro lens or sigma primes with extension tubes for product photography. This review is very useful! Great work!
Amazing video and content. Subscribed. Any suggestion where to get those extension tubes in the UK but for EF-M. Mostly I can see them for Sony Aloha but nothing for Canon and I’m looking for a good one. Could you suggest something?
Hi Stuart. Great vid as always. Just wondering if you could make one explaining what picture profile you use and how you grade video footage. Some stuff for future film makers 😁 Cheers
Thanks so much man - yeah I was gonna do a video purely based on how I have my camera setup. I also need to get my LUTs sorted and make a vid on that too. So many videos on my list - just trying to work through them!
Another amazing video! Can I ask, which of the 3 Sigma primes would you recommend for mostly shooting photos and videos of toddlers. I'm really torn between the 3. Also the music in your videos is 👌
I noticed the video had no 4K 16mm lens shots only the two other lens. Is the 16mm with the 10mm extension tube only practical for super still closeups?
Hey Christopher, these were all AF apart from a couple of shots on the 16. I found that the 16mm in general didn’t work particularly well with the ext tubes as it’s minimum focus distance is already so short.
are you using the plastic or steel one ? Which one do you recommend? I saw other video, he said get the cheaper one ? is there any different between them in term of image quality ?
hello, I have a problem using these tubes. I got the Sony a6500 with the Sigma 30mm. When I out the Meike tubes it's very blurry and it won't focus. Like its acting like it does not have a lense. Can you help me, please Thank you.
Hey, are you close enough to the subject? You have to have the lens really close, in some cases almost touching the subject. Alternatively you can try closing the aperture a little (f5.6 - f8)
I don't care if this video is only a month old, it is criminally underrated. Thanks so much for uploading this!
Thanks so much for your comment - really appreciate it 🙏🏻

@@StuartRodwell i have a question
Have you tried the extension tubes with 18-55mm lens
Can i get a very close up for example the butterfly head
That was cracking. Nice one.
Thanks so much Sam 🙌🏻
I'm not intending to use these tubes but thanks for the video. The little Praying Mantis is fantastic!
Thanks Paul, yeah pretty cool isn’t it 😎
Thank you for the review🙏🏽
You’re welcome Thao 👍🏻
is this good for product photography ? like accessories necklace ?
Great video! Do you know if I can take advantage of focus stacking on my GX9 if I use the extension tubes with the 56mm?
Great video 👍
Thanks Amir 👍🏻

My goodness 😳 , amazing 👏🏻

Biggest takeaway here: the 56 crushes the 16 and 30 when it comes to chromatic aberrations. Thanks for this video!
Found ur channel because i serach on 56mm sigma for a6000, i think im going to buy it!!!
It’s a great lens - you won’t regret it! 👌🏻

How was the auto focus performance in video with the extension tubes?
Another amazing video! Can I ask, which of the 3 Sigma primes would you recommend for mostly shooting photos and videos of toddlers. I'm really torn between the 3. Also the music in your videos is 👌
Are you using Manual on this setup?
I noticed the video had no 4K 16mm lens shots only the two other lens. Is the 16mm with the 10mm extension tube only practical for super still closeups?
were there any auto focus ?
Hey Christopher, these were all AF apart from a couple of shots on the 16. I found that the 16mm in general didn’t work particularly well with the ext tubes as it’s minimum focus distance is already so short.
Hi any tips on how to get focus on 16mm with 10’mm ext tubes? I tried and failed

Can you make the same comparison but using raynox dcr-250?
Hey - I’d love to but I’m afraid I don’t have it 😔 - maybe I should contact Raynox and see if they’ll send me one! 😎
AMAAAAAAAAZZIIIIIINGGGGG
Thanks Casper 🙏🏻
Can you read minds?? 😃 I was just thinking about if those are worth buying for my 3 primes 😄
After watching the video, yes! Totally worth it 👍 those pictures are on point! Great content as usual
Haha! Prefect timing!
Yes for what they cost, they’re definitely worth having!
Bottom line: sigma 56 mm is the best lens for 2 in1 purpose portraits and macro.
aside from the honest reviews and insights one thing that makes me press watch is the accent. 👌
Thanks Chad - I just try not to sound too ‘Essex’ haha 😂
My 16mm sigma not able to focus either.
Yeah I don’t think extension tubes work particularly well at wide angles from what I gather
