I have the Trio and the 56mm is by far my favorite. So-so sharp. I recently added the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 lens and its great as well for when I am on the go.
Same here, but with a Sony 16-55g instead. My favourite is still the Sigma 56. Sold my Sigma 16 and replaced it with a Tamron 11-20. Been shooting with Sony aps-c since 2015; and i went from zooms, to a lot of primes, to mostly zooms again.. 😅
Can you please make more videos on the sigma 18-50mm? I want to buy that and i have watched all your vids of this lens as well as almost 70% of your channel😂.
Love your videos! Deciding between the 30mm and 56mm for self tape auditions. Medium close up shot with camera between 1 and 2 meter distance. Shot on Sony ZVe-10. My backdrop is 9ft wide so close to 3 meters. Any suggestions? Thanks again for making these videos. Cheers
Really perfect. Thank you a lot for your videos (with s) :) keep on going. Can you just please detail more the lightning of your scene? How do you work with both "regular" lightning and the flash? How much is the zoom of your flash for both 1.4 and 5.6? thanks a lot again
Are these shot on an apsc body? I’ve just picked up an a6700 and trying to decide what length to get. I thought 56mm may be too much as a run and gun lens with the apsc crop (84mm), but this may have changed my mind if that is the case? Great video
I love that I found someone who is still making videos using the same camera and lenses as me (Sony a6600 + sigma trio) Do you see yourself ever upgrading to full frame or are you happy with the results you get from this gear?
Sorry for the late reply Jordan. It’s crossed my mind a few times to go full frame but I’m just so happy with the results I get from this powerful little system. Although it’s mainly a hobby, no one I ever do paid work for ever questions the quality this system can produce. Plus, I’d need to invest in a whole new lens eco system which I’d rather not do! If I were doing it as my main profession - then maybe I’d give it more thought.
Stuart, I have a quick question. Do you turn on lens correction in camera? I have the sigma 30, and I love it. But I've found on more than one occasion that leaving lens correction off made my portraits better, even with a little warping on the edges. Just curious your thoughts since you have the whole set are very experienced with these lenses. Thanks!
Hello Sir, Hope you are doing good. I am using a cannon m50 with a kit lens and tt600 flash. I need a good lens to take group pictures/portraits using it. It will be in-home event usage only. can you please recommend which will be the right option either sigma 16mm or 30mm ?
Like! You helped me few years ago with lens choice) However noe I am shooting wedding, birthday and etc. I mostly don't use 16mm. I use 23 f1.4 from viltrox and second lens is usually 30mm and when needed 56.
@@StuartRodwell yes. I bought all three of them but found 16 mm to wide... Especially when shooting group of people's those who are on sides gets distorted))) that's why I bought 23mm and it's mostly enough. Try it. Also has same filter threads with 30mm. I use one nd for them.
Stuart, as a beginner to cameras and lenses and as someone still trying to decide if my first purchase should be something like a 18-50mm lens or individual lenses, is using something like a 16mm lens and cropping in for a fake 30 or 50mm photo/video not a good idea? Too grainy?
Bought the 30mm after seeing one of your other ones of these. Was a toss up between that at the 56mm. Already have the 16mm, but these comparisons are bloody great.
the best The BEST the BEST UA-camr which takes the time NOT TO SELL Gear but to TEACH how to use it!!!! I have a question for you. currently building my YT studio using a 10x11 garage space. I like to know which route to go when building a podcast studio and what would be the best Lens Option, which include a 2 talent sitting between a 30inch circular table. Sigma 30mm F1.4 vs 56mm vs 50mm on an E-mount camera. Thank you
I want to see these lenses side by side, but with the same composure, to see a distortion... I mean, the face should be the same size, so, for example with 16 mm you shoot from 1 meter, with 56 mm you shoot from 3 meters...
Are any of you guys using these lenses in home studios? I'd be interested to hear which is your 'go-to' of the three.
Love these quick, short sharp videos as a lot of people don’t have 20 or 30 minutes to watch people waffle on. Great job!!!!
Thanks so much! Appreciate it 🙌🏻

*Excellent video!*
You are MASTER of reviews and comparisons! ⭐ Thanks for Your work!
You make the best and *most informative* videos on UA-cam. 👍
Very helpful as I have a small home studio.
Best image review for this lenses on youtube!
Thanks so much Valentin 🙏🏻
The 56mm looks like an awesome portrait lens. Thanks for a great review Stuart.
It really is! Thanks for watching Bill
thanks for the best comparison video on yt
Perfect perspective required for a lens buyer !!! Many thanks buddy for the efforts
You’re welcome - thanks for watching 🙏🏻
That is a cool studio. I love the look of your setup.
Thanks April! It’s not the prettiest of setups but it does the job!
Nice vid as always! Please keep it up!
Thanks for taking the time comment Charles 👍🏻

I love your comparaison but what lens do you use at the beginning or the end of your video ?
Thank you for this great video
Hope to see your Sigma 23mm review soon! There are German UA-camrs who did "reviews" of the lens, but didn't even bother to take pictures with it...

Glad the videos are helping 🙏🏻 I agree, the 16mm is my least favourite of the 3, but I still wouldn’t be without it!

Sigma’s announced a 23mm f1.4 - just what’s needed to complete the set.

Hi, which camera did you use to record yourself ? thanks
A6500 & A6600 👍🏻
I think subjectively, the 30mm gives the best in terms of flexibility, you can play with perspective while having some background subject compression.
Yes agreed, I’ve always found it to be the most versatile 👍🏻

did you make a decision? I'm leaning towards the 30mm myself
i love sony6600 and sigma 16,30,56mm and viltrox 13 f1.4 wow
Such a powerful little system
I wish you had a background so we could see the amount of blur
I made another video that illustrates this: Sigma 16mm vs 30mm vs 56mm 1.4 - Field of View Comparison Test

Thanks Fabio 🙌🏻
heey, make a video with the fX30 testing the sigma 16/30/56 in 4k 60/120 fps filming people on the street, pleaseee
Get Sony to send me one and I will! 😂🙌🏻
Relaxing music :)
Thanks - love the LoFi vibes 🙌🏻
Thanks! Where is Tia?
Back at school - sure she'll make an appearance soon though
