It is the summer of 1971 and I am riding around in my car, my first puppy love crush driving it. We're out in the country and this beautiful Diamond tune comes on and both of us are blown away. I am laying down with my head near his thigh just cause I wanted to be as close to him without crossing the line. As this song is playing , he pats his thigh and I put my head on his strong, tanned leg as this song is playing. A memory I will never forget as long as I continue to draw a breath. ❤Here's to youth, summers and innocence.
Yes .. True. After being discovered by singer/songwriter/producer Ellie Greenwich in 1966, Neil was introduced to Bang Records founder Bert Berns and offered a recording contract. Newly divorced, songwriting team Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry remained friends and continued working together to produce Neil's first singles #Solitary Man and #Cherry Cherry as a 'solo artist'. However, this was NOT Neil's "first time in a studio". As a senior in HS, Neil met and became friends with another senior, and trained singer, Jack Parker. Jack was able to sing harmony one scale above Neil's songwriting style. The Everly Brothers were one of Neil's favorite singing duo at the time. So, needless to say, their's was the sound Neil was looking for. They formed a duo, calling themselves Neil & Jack, and rehearsed in his parents (Neil's) basement. Eventually they got a recording contract with Dual Records in 1963. One of the singles the duo recorded was #What Will I Do? Here is the link ... ua-cam.com/video/jUaymitxzLE/v-deo.html
I have been a fan of Neil Diamond since this song first came out in 1971. Love his voice and he is a great songwriter! I wish him well in his journey with Parkinson’s.
Neil 💍 was a master poet. His voice is an instrument all it's own I've been a fan forever. I won his Stones album from an AM radio station when I was about 13.
After I heard Neil Diamond for the first time beginning of the seventies, he never left me. With every new album, his music grew on me, like his music is now growing on you. I love your in-depth reviews of his songs and I hope you will be digging further into some of his gems, but mind you: he has a huge catalogue to choose from. My suggestions: the autobiographical Brooklyn Roads, the personal I Am... I Said, arguably his best, the mesmerising Holly Holy, or even recent songs like Hell Yeah, Neil's very own My Way.
This is a powerful performance, and the studio version is wonderful. Neil also acted, and his music from the movie "The Jazz Singer" is great. "America," from that movie, is so powerful: ua-cam.com/video/wTSLRbm8L9E/v-deo.html
One of my favourite songs of all time. I am said I is another.
I like how he is singing almost acapello then brings in the orchestra
Neil Diamond is AMAZING! I have seen him in concert three times and each time he blew me away

Agree
This don't touch the original version.
I prefer it to the original.
