      Fun fact
Neil Diamond attended an Elvis concert in the early 70s in Vegas. During the show elvis recognized Neil in the audiance and had him stand up saying that Neil was a great performer and singer. There was a short mo.ent when everyone thought Elvis was going to invite Neil ip on stage to do a song together.

He is a great man, very kind and humble. I've seen him in concert 5 or 6 times, great stage personality! He told a story of a young man that knocked on his hotel room door and asked him if he could play a song for him on the guitar, Neil said yes and the man did. Long story short, this song turned into "Forever in Bluejeans". I'm glad he opened the door, huge hit.
One of my favorites by Neil.

The "Humbleness" he exudes on stage is NOT an act. I met him while waiting for a flight at Chicago O'hare Airport in 1973 and he is actually that humble and nice. He performs not for fame & riches, but for the pure love of music and sharing it with others.

I saw Neil Diamond twice in concert and in 1978 at Hampton Roads inVa. He sang 28 songs and 3 Encore songs and saw him again I think in 1984 at the Dean Smith center in Chapel Hill NC . Let me say this Neil sings to everyone in the building , he will ha e them turn lights out and just have upper deck lights up and sing to everyone who didn’t have the best seats and appreciate every single person in the crowd , he always sold out and my God the guy has the best voice and just a total professional a absolute American treasure so sad for him that he is going through this illness , Parkinson’s , Gods healing hands on you Neil I pray 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I can close my eyes and see him on stage with that power house voice , Thank You Neil Diamond for all you did to entertain us with your awesome music sir !!!!!!!!!

Neil is one of my all time favs. THIS is one of his best poignant songs. Glad you did the live version which is an excellent example of how great he was (Parkinson's has retired him). Such a beautiful, humble man. Never a scandal. Another deep, moving song by him is 'I Am I Said'. Of course there's always the popular tunes like Sweet Caroline (inspired by Caroline Kennedy), Cracklin' Rosie, Forever in Blue Jeans, America, ...it's a rabbit hole. Holly Holy another great, and Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show. Live versions are almost always best. Anything off Hot August Night (album) is fantastic.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Neil Diamond!!! That statement is the biggest understatement of my life! He is my favorite artist of all time! I had all of his albums even into the 90's (sadly, I don't have any of my albums anymore after downsizing several times). Played them all the time. In 1980, when The Jazz Singer came out, I saw it 27 times in the theater! (Remember, there was no such thing as a DVD or streaming services then.) I bought the VHS tape of the movie as soon as it came out. I saw him in concert 3 times and actually shook his hand once! I was weak in the knees with that! I just found The Jazz Singer on Prime Video about 2 weeks ago and watched it a couple of times. I highly recommend it. It'a a rough remake of the original version of it with Al Jolson which was the very first "talkie" ever made, from 1927. The original and Neil Diamond's versions are on UA-cam and the 1952 version with Danny Thomas is on Hulu. Neol"s is also on Prime Video. The critics didn't like it but people loved Neil's movie! So, don't listen to the critics. Anyhoo . . . big rabbit hole with Neil Diamond! He's got dozens of really great songs -- ballads to more hard rock. He can sing anything! Please do some more Neil! And good job on the reaction. (If I had to pick, I think my favorites are I Am. I Said and Anerica! But picking favorites is really hard!)

He may have had some songs before this one, but Solitary Man is the first Neil Diamond hit that I remember hearing on the radio (and buying the 45) as a kid. Many more followed.

Neil Diamond grew up in my neighborhood back in Brooklyn NY. He’s a legend. Made great music. Has many hits. Try Cherry Cherry. Big hit. Thx Jay

The studio version is slightly faster, but I have been undecided as to which is better for years. It's a mark of how great a song this is.

Jim Frederick until we have two days like the last two over and over again. America is all I know and much I love. But, after 62 years experiencing the joys of life and the systematic racism as a mature Black American woman,
I think about how great it could be. Films, literature, sports, but mostly music has always been my safe place, my mood changer that defines the moments of my life. Peace

No question one of the greatest singers in music history. Fortunate to have heard all his tunes on the radio back then. You got to Me, Holly Holy, Red Red Wine and Cherry Cherry are my favorites. Had many more hits tho. You have good musical taste

Interesting note on Neil, he was one semester away from graduating medical school. And he quit. His parents damn near killed him. He started singing and writing songs for others. The he made it big.

Did not need auto tune. Own every album of his on vinyl that came out on vinyl. Also, the others that came out on CD. Plus concert on VHS and DVD. Been to 4 of his concerts since the eighties. He is true talent.
