He is a great man, very kind and humble. I've seen him in concert 5 or 6 times, great stage personality! He told a story of a young man that knocked on his hotel room door and asked him if he could play a song for him on the guitar, Neil said yes and the man did. Long story short, this song turned into "Forever in Bluejeans". I'm glad he opened the door, huge hit. One of my favorites by Neil.
The "Humbleness" he exudes on stage is NOT an act. I met him while waiting for a flight at Chicago O'hare Airport in 1973 and he is actually that humble and nice. He performs not for fame & riches, but for the pure love of music and sharing it with others.

Steve Maxwell I agree with you. Neil Diamond is a star and he has had a most wonderful career but a lot of folks have no idea how much material he has written and others have sung it ie. Red Red Wine. I also Love Morining Side and Soolaimon.
I grew up listening to him as well, the first song I heard was on an old 45 I found, Cracklin Rosie, and knew I wanted to hear more. Neil has So So many great hits, sweet Caroline, cherry cherry, America, soolaimon forever in blue jeans and red red wine. But you want to listen to morning side and I am I said if you want humbling personal songs
Only under appreciated by the critics who called his music bombastic but he's always had his fans. I also like that the Boston Red Socks took to playing Sweet Caroline during the 7th inning stretch. Best sing a long song ever.
I saw Neil Diamond twice in concert and in 1978 at Hampton Roads inVa. He sang 28 songs and 3 Encore songs and saw him again I think in 1984 at the Dean Smith center in Chapel Hill NC . Let me say this Neil sings to everyone in the building , he will ha e them turn lights out and just have upper deck lights up and sing to everyone who didn’t have the best seats and appreciate every single person in the crowd , he always sold out and my God the guy has the best voice and just a total professional a absolute American treasure so sad for him that he is going through this illness , Parkinson’s , Gods healing hands on you Neil I pray 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I can close my eyes and see him on stage with that power house voice , Thank You Neil Diamond for all you did to entertain us with your awesome music sir !!!!!!!!!
I had the privilege of seeing Neil Diamond around the year 2000, which was a true gift to my life. He is a gentleman, exuding decency and kindness on stage - along with his wonderful music. He’s a class act all the way.
They fact that Neil Diamond wrote his songs, flawlessly performed his songs, and without trying to "BE" from his Jonathan Livingstone Seagull is absolutely exquisite.
Neil is one of my all time favs. THIS is one of his best poignant songs. Glad you did the live version which is an excellent example of how great he was (Parkinson's has retired him). Such a beautiful, humble man. Never a scandal. Another deep, moving song by him is 'I Am I Said'. Of course there's always the popular tunes like Sweet Caroline (inspired by Caroline Kennedy), Cracklin' Rosie, Forever in Blue Jeans, America, ...it's a rabbit hole. Holly Holy another great, and Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show. Live versions are almost always best. Anything off Hot August Night (album) is fantastic.
Neil is a beautiful man ! His music will live on for many decades . Pour yourself a glass of wine , relax , and listen to Johnathan Livingston Seagull ... love the photography in the video as well ! I'm 78 today , think I'll open up a bottle of crackling rose !

He does the song “Sweet Caroline” for one. But there are a bunch of others. “I am, I said” is a great one. “Girl, You’ll be a woman soon” which was used years later in the Quentin Tarantino film “Pulp Fiction” in a particularly memorable scene. And those are just the tip of the iceberg with Neil Diamond.
