  • I'm so happy that a lot of you found my previous video for benzoyl peroxide helpful 🥳 but since there were so many comments regarding the side effects, I decided to film yet another video. Here I focused mainly on HOW TO use benzoyl peroxide for acne.. I show you all the steps that I follow to get rid of the acne and to maintain clean skin and I also share with you all the products that I use and love. I tried to add as much as helpful information as I could without making it too long. However if I have missed some important information or if you have any questions or concerns let me know in the comments below, I reply to all the comments.
    - I tried to avoid repeating the same things I said in the other video, so if you haven't seen it here's a link • BENZOYL PEROXIDE Expla... 🥰
    - I've got a separate video on how to get rid of the dark spots/hyperpigmentation caused by acne: • HYPERPIGMENTATION (Dar...

    This video took weeks of researching, planning, filming and editing, so it will be nice to know if it was helpful. Please make sure to give a thumbs up 👍🏼

    Thanks for explaining it in simple and easy terms.
    I currently use tretinoin 0.015%. It irritated my skin, then it worked and now it’s stopped working!! So confused!
    So i did some research about Bp.
    I managed to only get my hands on the 5% gel.
    Do u think i will get better results with bp then i did with tretinoin?
    Do u have any experience or video on this?
    Plz advise 😊

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  Рік тому +3

      Hi, I haven’t used tretinoin but from what I’ve read so far benzoyl peroxide works a little bit better for mild to moderate acne.
      Yeh, 2.5% BP is difficult to find but don’t worry, 5% should be okay.. just moisturize more, the dryness only lasts about a month.
      Unfortunately I don’t have video on tretinoin :(
      Good luck with your journey 🍀

    ive been using BP after my moisturizer just to reduce the side effects of drying skin. Although ik it takes out the effectiveness but is it a big deal?? i like to put on a hydrating essence for extra hydration, niaciminide, and cream then wait 15minuts till dry then BP every night. is this fine or should i change my skin routine?

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  2 роки тому +3

      Hey, so if this works for you there're no need to change it. If you notice in the future that it's not effective then try applying the moisturiser after the BP.
      Regarding the niaciminide, as far as I know you're not supposed to mix it with benzoyl peroxide. However, you can use them in one day - for example niaciminide in the morning and bp in the evening.

    • @nadiazayatmakeup

      I stopped using toners years ago and my skin is better than ever so I’m not the right person to ask regarding toners lol I would say it’s best not to use it at all.
      technically it depends on how bad your acne is.. if you can maintain clean skin with using BP only at night then there’s no need to apply it in the mornings as well. My acne was super stubborn so I used to apply twice a day, after few years I stopped using it in the mornings.

      in addition to what I said in the previous comment.. I want to also add that applying BP only on the existing pimples won't prevent the formation of new pimples. It's important to apply it on the whole area where you get pimples, for example if you get pimples on your forehead.. make sure to cover the whole forehead.

    Hey
    Thank you for explaining BP so patiently and with all necessary details. I am using Benzac AC 2.5% but as a spot treatment and overnight. So I put it on the spot only when a pimple appears there and then leave it overnight. My question is that are you suggesting that we use BP in acne prone areas on a daily basis and not as SOS? For example, my T zone is acne prone so shall I put BP there as a part of my daily skincare?
    Secondly, I also like using acne patches on acne spots so shall I put BP and then put a patch on? Will that be fine? Please let me know. Thanks a ton!

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  11 місяців тому

      Hi, applying BP only the spots simply doesn’t work in my opinion, so yes it’s better to apply it on your T-zone since that’s where you get pimples. Do you get them on the nose though? If you don’t get any on the nose apply it only on the forehead and chin (because the nose tends to peel/gets red more so if you don’t get pimples there don’t apply it there).
      Also make sure to start using it slowly.. and increase the amount after few weeks as I explained in the video to reduce the side effects. Goodluck! 🍀🤞🏼

      Probably few weeks after you stop using it your skin won’t be sensitive. But if you stop using BP the acne will be back .. so just use sun protection when you’re outdoors. Sunscreen is good to be used even if you’re not using benzoyl peroxide.

      Hi, it's normal in the beginning .. I used to blow the hairdryer (on cold air) into my face to reduce the burning feeling loool it works!
      Also the moisturiser matters, I changed couple of moisturisers until I found one that suited my skin the best. I used the Cerave Moisturising Cream, it really helped for the dryness and the redness. When the irritation disappeared I switched to Cerave Moisturising Lotion, which I've been using ever since. Please I’d need your advice as I’m just starting the routine. I’m thinking of getting salicylic acid and applying it in the morning after using Nitrogena ultra gentle cleanser and there after use the simple light hydrating moisturiser and at night, use BP 5% with same cleanser and moisturiser.
    What do you think?

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  5 місяців тому +1

      It sounds good 👌🏼 but it might be too irritating because both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide tend to dry the skin. Maybe first start with benzoyl peroxide only at night and after a month or two you can add salicylic acids into your morning routine.

      Yes, I did that in the past.. It depends on the pimple I guess, usually within few days. But keep in mind that this way of applying BP might help you get rid of certain pimples but it isn't gonna clear the skin from acne. It's best to apply it on the whole area where you get pimples.

I just apply it on the needed place for almost just one hour at night . But today morning ( the second day) I felt a heat wave on my face . It was not like redness nor inflamed skin , on the places l applied the oilment my skin just burned , it literally feels like the applied just got burned . I only applied a pea size . You don’t need to wash it off, you can apply moisturizer on top of it.

    Hello! If a product is irritating my skin is it possible that it can leave me dark spots? I'm 17 and my dermatology recommended me this but I'm afraid.

    I get burning and stinging sensation whem i apply moisturizer after BP. I thought problem is in moisturizer but i then changed and used different one. I used Cetaphil and my skin was red and it got brown as if its burnt. i stopped BP for few days. I have started using again but i am not using moisturizer. Don't know what's wrong

      Hi dear, I used to get the exact same problem. I changed 2, 3 times the moisturiser until I find one that doesn't sting too much. The burning sensation was the worse for me with Cetaphil lotion, but I have heard many people with acne recommending it so I guess it's different for everybody.
      I really like Cerave products, I remember that the Cerave Moisturising Cream didn't sting and was really calming my skin during the difficult beginning of the treatment.
      Keep in mind that no matter what moisturiser you use, in the beginning you will always experience this burning sensation, BUT some moisturisers sting less than others, so the trick is to find a suitable one for you.
      Also one thing that I used to do to calm down the skin is blowing cold air with the blowdryer on my face 😄 weird but it helps!
      This usually happens only in the beginning, once your skin gets used to the treatment you wouldn't experience it (or at least it won't be too bad). Sorry for the late reply and good luck 🍀

    Do you still use bp now that your acne has cleared? I wonder if i can reduce the frequency of using it after my skin cleared up (only 3x a week maybe)?

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  Рік тому +1

      I still use it but I’ve reduced the amount.. I think you can reduce the frequency or the amount and observe your skin to see if the acne would return.

    Nice video, but i have a question is it okay to use the cerave sa cleanser which contains salicylic acid then using benzoyl peroxide? Cause i heard people say u should choose one and use it for ur acne

    • @nadiazayatmakeup
      @nadiazayatmakeup  10 місяців тому +1

      It's fine, I've used them together. The cleanser only stays on your skin for few seconds, then you wash it off. Anyway, in general you can use benzoyl peroxide with salicylic acid anyway.
