Okay…. Can we all just simultaneously agree that she is AMAZING for jumping RIGHT into her list instead or forcing us to sit through five minutes of unrelated chatting? 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I clicked to the comments to see if I could just find the list from a fellow commenter - but was so pleasantly surprised when she got right down to it!
Absolutely. I agree. Home is where the heart is. My daughter begged me to Home Educate. She is a bookworm now. In school she could hardly read, write or spell. Home Education gives our children the Bespoke Education they deserve without all the pressure and bullying.
been using b&n home educator card over 5 yrs. I'm grateful there are companies that haven't forgot about homeschoolers. I wish teachers pay teachers had something to help homeschooling parents
I'm glad homeschooling is slowly getting a good rep. When I was growing up homeschooling ( homeschooled in the early 2000's) was heavily ridiculed and very limited to finding resources to sustain this journey. You were not even considered an educator back then. Hopefully it keeps getting better.
I used to work at B&N and those deals are well worth it! Trust me! They're competitive to Amazon with the discounts and they do all sorts of teacher deals. Also find out if your local store has a community outreach person, they usually are the ones to partner with the schools for book fairs and auch, they'll be able to tell you about all the cool events and such. They're also great if you have a homeschooling group, they'll be able to get you deals on books if you buy them in bulk.
@@4dareids I think it'll different for me, because I left B&N and got my teaching license. I currently still work for a public school system, but when I switch over and start home schooling, I wonder if they will ask for further proof. I remember having to tell a bunch of homeschooling moms they wouldn't let me issue an educator card and I'd hoped B&N had changed that by now:(
We homeschool by using a public school (Visions in Education), where they provide all necessary materials. We get the money to spend on supplies, curriculum we choose, vouchers for extracurricular activities, support of a credential teacher, and much more. This way we get to choose curriculum, choose our own hours in a day, as I work, and it doesn’t cost us anything. We don’t even have to spend money on pencils or notebooks, not to mention time and gas it would take to get to school, all the extra clothes and shoes, lunches, and who knows what else. We have been homeschooling for 6 years now. These tips are great for those who would actually be interested in getting loans and buying overpriced brand names. The library one is great, but we don’t use that many books at a time anyways.
I just looked up Visions in Education, and it sounds fantastic! I just wish there was something like that where we live. I send my kids to public school for extracurricular activities, but there’s really no other support for my kids in our little state of VT without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars! As far as I know, at least… times are changing!
If in Arizona they have universal ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Award) and funds available to help with educational and extra curricular activities as well.
I really wish I had known about this! I have spent so much $ over the years! I just paid $2,000 in property taxes that is for the public schools! It is nice that there are ways I can save😃 thank you for the video
I received a stamped "Declaration of Intent to Homeschool" for back when I have filed. Things have gone digital now which makes it a bit tricky to show. Half Price Books and Michael's Craft Store also give 10% off to educators.
Good luck! I’m strongly considering it for my two children age 5 & 11. With all the bullying going on and lack of support I feel it’s the best option at this point.
Thanks for sharing, we are very knew to our homeschooling journey and was wondering how to afford the start up cost for everything I want to do! Lol this is awesome!
Many places no longer have fees on children’s books. But if you’re not responsible enough to return on time I’d agree, please only take what you can be responsible for. Also you don’t have to take out all 180 ☺️
So helpful!!! Thank you for this!!! My little is about to turn two but I’m already looking into everything homeschool and your videos are great and so informative, thank you!!! 🙏🧡🧡
Ooh, toddlers are so much fun to teach! They are little sponges and will learn anything, especially if we make it fun. Both my girls had colors, 1-10, please and thank you, and quite a few other preschool things learned by age 3. Just weave it into the day. Sing ABC's while helping them dress, point out what color household items are, count the crackers, etc. Keep it light and fun, with lots of excitement and praise. Have fun with it, and you may fall in love with teaching your little one.
We get NOTHING, no financial or help otherwise to homeschool here in Australia. It only bugs me when people seem to think we're homeschooling as a money making scam or something!
They are! They really liked all of them, but the ones they could do most on their own are the ones they seemed to get the most satisfaction out of. I'd say the Chemistry!
I live in Riverside California who do I contact? I tried googling and got lost lol I'd like to know if I'm eligible for a educators card as a homeschool parent
I'm in California and I homeschool and never knew any of this. How do you prove your a homeschool? In Cali we do affidavits online. Do we just show that?
What kind of proof do they ask for that we are homeschooling? I notified the ESD but we don't belong to an online homeschool or anything. Edit to update... I commented before the end!

I had no idea Barnes and Noble was pro-homeschooling. That makes me happy.
Yes I love them for that!
Not anymore 😭
I’m going to be doing the home buying process with a credit union soon so keep watching to stay updated!!
Looking forward to this

That’s a cool option. How would you go about finding out if that’s available in another state?

Oh my gosh the fees on 180 books!! I could totally see myself being late on returning. 180 seems overkill to me, just check out the books as needed.

Agreed!!! I’m overwhelmed! Lol

Thank you!
Which of the kits did your children seem to enjoy the most? They look so fun 😊
They are! They really liked all of them, but the ones they could do most on their own are the ones they seemed to get the most satisfaction out of. I'd say the Chemistry!
How do you get an ID for this? I have an ID from the HSLDA but it does not have a photo. Do we simply make our own?
I was so excited about the Barnes and noble program but I just researched it and it is ending 😭💔
Where did you find these loans?
I'm going to look into the Barnes and Noble discount.
Thank you for this information. How do you obtain a State educator card?
From your county office if they provide one!
@@AkeebaMaze thank you very much, I will check into that

How do you get the B&N card?
How can u help us in kenya with homeschoolinv
💡
Thanks. Does anyone know how I can make an edu email address for our homeschool?
Ur an awesome woman just like ur sister.
Just was wondering what we could get grant wise and what not.
It depends on your state!
We get the cards from Barnes and Noble? What do we have to take up there to show proof to get the card?
Yes!
I like you, I like you a WHOLE LOT!!!
i believe b&n changed this plan for educators ending oct 31 2023 -
Is this for Americans only?
I'm in California and I homeschool and never knew any of this. How do you prove your a homeschool? In Cali we do affidavits online. Do we just show that?
If you are part of HSLDA or CHEA just show one of membership cards.
Yes I show my affidavit
I am a first time home school mom how I apply for a educational card
Your local county home instruction office may give them out depending on the state

I want to home school
So bad but I don’t feel like I am a good teacher.😢
Do it..... I am a dyslexic mom doing it. My son is four years old and can already read at a second grade level
Me too my ages are 7,2, Newborn, I don't see how I can do it at all
Don’t we all support the educational system with mandatory public school taxes 😮
🙌🏾🙌🏼🙌🏾👽💛💛💛
How do you prove you're a homeschooler?
If you join HSLDA you get lots of information about homeschooling, they help with any legal issue and they give you a teacher membership card.
It depends on your state- what state are you in?

I tried for the loan through SchoolsFrist and they said I didn't qualify as a Homeschool 🥺

@@AkeebaMaze yes. I've been a member for 14 yrs.
Was it the home loan or the teacher’s supply loan? I guess you could just do a personal loan through them right?
