- Here are the 6 skills I taught my daughter that boosted her two grade levels in just a few months! This video was sponsored by GameHouse Original Stories #deliciousworldgame
Visit my unique link to checkout Delicious World! deliciousworld.onelink.me/ema...
You all will be amazed at the progress if you teach these 6 things.
I have to wait a week to add the other link, in the meantime get started by reviewing the following sounds, and short vowel sounds: a, e, i, o, u; t, n, r, m, d, s, I, c, p, b, f, v
Then, study compound words or multisyllabic words that have ONLY those short sounds such as:
tomcat (two syllables, both closed), dogrun, batman, mended, laptop, etc. Make sure they also write these words down!
Week 2 should be spent on MASTERING the silent e, including writing.
Okay Akeeba, PLEASE come out with a reading/language curriculum already! This was FANTASTIC! I used your advanced phonics pdf with my son this past school year and it was the TRUTH. We took your advice and made it fun. I would introduced the new phonics sound with read it, find it (with his magnifying glass, he'd find and circle/highlight the sound from a wordlist) and write it. We close the lesson with a search. I'd write the sound on a foam card and stick it somewhere with a clue like "ar, wanted to help with the laundry today, can you find ar?" He'd use his magnifying glass and search with purpose 😂😂😂. He LOVED it. We didn't go through the entire list as we started toward the tail end of the school year, but will definitely continue and add on tips from this video ❤❤❤
Where can the advance phonics pdf be found?
@@mylifemyopinion4451 Hi there! Check out Akeeba's "WHY your smart child guess words instead of reading" video. In it, she provides a link for the advanced phonics PDF 😉!
@@threejeans6084 thank you!
@@mylifemyopinion4451 😉!
Help me to improve my reading please
I am a retired educator & administrator and immediately recognized excellence when I see it. You are so humble and an excellent educator. Love your content & enjoy your lovely family. Blessings Abundant & Shalom Shalom.
A very good and shower afternoon to you and your family, good job, amazing teaching, very simple and easy to digest, may the Lord increase your knowledge, continue to give you good health and sound mind, Amen.
Wow thank you! That means so much to me!
Outspoken! Well said.
My triplets are 4 years old and they can also read at this level. Very proud of you and your girls!
You are a shining example why we adults still remember and are grateful for wonderful teachers from our childhood. Shining stars forever!
I'm in 7th grade and my reading level improved so much during the years, in 3rd grade I wasn't confident in my reading or throughout 4th or 5th during the summer of 5th and throughout 6th I started reading books, manga (Japanese comics) and watching kdramas ( Korean dramas) anime (Japanese cartoons) with subtitles and it really improved my reading a whole lot and I feel more confident in my reading now.
I’ve been struggling with elearning with my kiddos and could see that they’re behind in reading 🥺 this was somehow recommended and I just want to thank you for posting. My kids are 5 and 7 as well. Your daughters are precious and sooo smart. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hope you and your children are doing well.
The girls enjoy learning is a clear sign you are doing a fantastic job 🙏🏽🥳
Their little voices are absolutely beautiful...I can listen to your kids all day.
Not sure how I received this recommendation but THANK YOU! My son has a learning disability and this is the clearest explanation of reading that I have ever come across. I have spent a TON of money on print outs, syllabus', book recommendations and classes. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you so much!
Please check out her other videos. They really helped me with my son with autism. She is excellent and great at her craft.
@@taunyac.6127 Thank you so much. I'm on the case!
This is amazing stuff. I don’t even have kids just yet but I’ll be ready for them when I do have them. Thank you for the free knowledge 🙌🏾.
That is the same thing I said. 💯
This is wonderful this my first year homeschooling my 2 nd grader and it is important to me that he has reading success
Interesting learning about “opened “ and “closed” syllables !!
Every learning video I have watched by you has worked with my boys 100% to where people are amazed! I'm not a teacher (not certified), but I come from a family of teachers and they are impressed when I post videos of my sons (age 3 & 5) on social media. Thank you for all your help!
Could you please share some of those videos I would love to see them. Oh yes and I’m 12 I started reading mini chapter books like you know Amelia bedelia when I was 4.
@@TheWoodland12 I love Amelia Bedelia
I did homeschool last year I must extend gratitude to Kindergarten teachers. There are some things we did well on while we missed critical helpful tools such as this video. I am understanding the importance of choosing a lane in life, not because we cannot do everything but we must master a skill or strive to in order to properly give back to the community. Thank you!
Looking into the same....how did you begin your research...feeling stuck.
Akeeba, you are such an amazingly gifted teacher! I wish I could have had a teacher like you coming up because there was so much I didn’t understand. You are a blessing to many and now with your vlogs children don’t have to be left behind if they use the tools of the lesson you just taught. Thank you so much and God bless. Watching from(your hometown)Maryland, USA 🇺🇸!
Hey, Akeeba! I left my school district in 2012, but I still teach reading; my specialty is reading difficulties/disabilities. I do miss all of my kids, but I won't go back into the system. I just bought some new goodies and I'm always getting ideas from you. Thank you so much for sharing and hurry up and put out an Akeeba Reading Curriculum, Lol!
@ Michele Carter
Trying to get my adopted grand daugthers out of "the system". (1st grade twins)
Looking into home schooling..
@@JudahMarley With all that's going on today, homeschooling would be my choice today if I had young children. I'm quite sure that Akeeba has a lot of suggestions for the best homeschooling resources today, that's why I try to stay in touch with what she's doing.

I am an adult and didn't get this thaught at school. I always check for videos on how to improve reading. If only UK state schools tought like you, life would have so much easier for all.. Being able to read is a great gift. May the Almighty giver of knowledge rewards you for all your efforts. Thank you for the clear explanation and no background music, as I can concentrate on what you are saying without distraction.
Thank you so much. I have had a hard time teaching my kids syllables and you have broken down the concepts very well.
You have answered my prayers.
I can’t wait to start with my son!
Omg you are extraordinary! They are so well spoken and bright!
Your oldest and my child are the same age. Reading has been a struggle, but I have seen improvements since starting homeschooling last year. I think a lot is just from reading together and speaking in general. This is awesome! I finally came across you just a few days ago and I am blown away and still figuring out where to start since we are already in second grade. I personally feel so many things would be easier if we got her reading level up. She likes to read (most of the times), way more than I did at her age, so I have high hopes for her. I’m glad you are up here helping us and breaking everything down to us with the resources we need. Thank you!
Hello fellow homeschooling moms - this is excellent information! This is almost exactly what I have found in my research for teaching struggling learners. Thank you for sharing your wisdom Akeeba!!
@BetsyWallace
Where do I start?
Looking into homeschooling for my 6 yr old adopted twins. Grandma has no idea where to start.

Hello my dear. You are an incredibly gifted teacher and communicator! I love the timber of your voice. Thankyou for using and applying your gifts to teach and train your immediate family first and then, your
Awesome job girls! I had a huge smile on my face the entire time you two were reading. Way to work with your daughters Akeeba. It’s really refreshing to see videos that educate our children. I enjoy watching you teach and spread knowledge.
Amazing
This is super useful like me a year ago when I would help my baby cousin with his reading would have been crying happy tears because the fluency your children have is amazing
You are amazing. So many kids can benefit from this. Thank you 😊
My heart just melted! they’re so cute!! Great job mom I am definitely taking notes.
Akeeba thank you. This is such a useful piece. I have a 9 year old with visual processing disorder and reading has been a little challenging but she's so determined and I am researching for resources to help her progress. This was massive help.

Great JOB mom! I'm so proud of what you have done and how amazing our two little princesses are! Thank you so very much for sharing!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS AND YOU AND THE GIRLS! I have 11 gbabies, I also work at an elementary school as a Coach for Kids and while the social/emotional wellbeing is my focus, many of the children struggle with reading. I truly appreciate your sharing with the world for the betterment of our babies!

This is the best instructional reading video! Thank you!
Akeeba, congratulations! I have been a subscriber since the Baltimore days when you'd blog in your car on the way to work. You're expertise will be missed there! Soooooo impressive with the girls reading abilities! You're brilliant!
You are amazing. Thank you. I taught my daughter to read at a very young age. You are a blessing.
This sounds great.
She reads so beautifully! I love her pronunciation, she’s adorable!
Wow!! That was incredible!!! Your children read beautifully!!
Ms. Akeeba I admire and look up to you and ms.Alena so much. I never struggled with reading and reading has always come easy to me. I started reading those my first chapter books when I was 4 but had I learned to read the way you teach reading I would have been declared a reading prodigy. You are amazing I’m going to see if I can use some of your videos to help my nephew because he’s mildly autistic and has a lot of trouble when it comes to reading.
Wonderful, good teacher mom. You have done well with your children. Keep up the good work.
Follow your own path, as you are doing.👍🏽
You done amazing mom , I’m definitely following up and through for my 7&3 yr old at home

OMG! I've just discovered how to learn English. You made it so simple to understand. Thank you so much!!!!!!
I enjoyed the reading. Children tend to avoid self-correction but your baby had no issue with it! Awesome!!
Wow, great job girls and mom! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you for this video, it will help me teach my students!
Amazing teaching! Thanks
I loved this video! I'm excited to see how this goes with my girls. do you have any book reccomendations that focus on the specific syllable types separately?
Thank you so much for this! My daughter is 8 and really struggling with basic kindergarten reading and she is a rule follower like me we love having rules to follow, I think she was missing these and I think it will make a huge difference! Thank you for sharing!
Your girls have the sweetest little voices! 🥰
Thank you for sharing this video. Very informative!
You are an excellent teacher and mom.

Thank you so much, Akeeba. ❤❤❤
This is excellent job. Thanks for sharing
Amazing vid. Thanks so much for filming this.
Such a helpful video. Thanks a million
(CONT) your extended family members. It is fortunate for we who partake of your vlogging efforts, to be exposed to your exceptional methods and abilities. My way of teaching my child was different and as effective.
He began reading fluently at 3 years (high school level). Admittedly, it was a bit frightening, yet extremely exilerating. Keep on keeping on and I wish you every possible success. You are a Sterling example of living, learning and loving. Thankyou.
This is great......so well explained. Thank you for all you do. So helpful.
Love Your Work!! 👍
It's funny because we are doing All About Reading Level 3 with my 2nd grader and I was feeling bewildered at the content - starting out with syllables, which is not really how I remember learning how to read. This is definitely reassuring that I should just trust the program and myself - as I'm homeschooling. She is naturally pretty good at just sounding things out. I'm like - WHY ARE WE JUST LEARNING SYLLABLES?! 😂
Hi. Thank you for sharing your skills. I have been really overwhelmed with trying to help my daughter improve her reading skills. I feel inspired. I took notes but would love to have the link with the cheat sheet. Thanks again. 😊
Hello I so admire you. My daughter is in grad school for elementary education and my hope is for her to meet you. You are awesome
Thanks for this video that came on my suggested list. This would be very helpful for my toddler.
I just love these girls their mom doing a great job with them I they set and example for of children I’m glad the world can see what intellligent kidds they are this will help some child to want to do better all across the board
Thanks for sharing, I will be working with my 7 year old grandson.
Thank you for this video!
This is amazing! What do you use to record them reading? Thanks so much!!
Great tips, I am definitely going to use those tips for my little one.

Akeeba Maze... Thank you so much for sharing; I enjoyed the video. Kudos to your intelligent kids, I know you're so proud of them. 🌹
Thank you for the sharing. I enjoyed your phonics lesson. The girls reading skills are very good keep up the good work.
Awesome video. How do you teach them to find the joint of a syllable when trying to decode a multiple syllable word they are unfamiliar with?
You are an incredibly smart teacher Akeeba!!!!!
Very true
I have just had a wonderful experience helping a 3 year old get to blend his letter sounds to read words and sentences.
