This was the best video I’ve come across by far! I appreciate all the time and research you put into this. Getting started homeschooling can be overwhelming and alot of videos will just tell you what they’re using which might not be the best fit for your family. This was really helpful thank you
Thank you. There is so much out there that it gets overwhelming. Love how you broke each one down makes this so much more easier to decide on what curriculum to use.
Thank you so much for this, after recent events, I’ve had it with the public school system. I no longer feel safe sending my kids to school and I’m looking for options right now because I have no idea what I’m doing, but this helped so much!

Thank you for the review. I just pulled my child from public school. She's in 7th grade. I have been researching, she and I both have agreed on miacademy. She likes the social aspect of it and you can't beat the trial price. So hopefully we'll have a good experience in the coming of weeks.
I hope it works out for you! Homeschooling can be a lot of trial and error so even if one curriculum doesn't work, don't get discouraged. You might end up mixing and matching. You don't need to try to recreate school at home. Homeschool comes with a lot of freedom. And congratulations on your decision to homeschool!

Just came across your video I’m looking into home school for my son whose 9 he’s got social anxiety really bad and is struggling Tysm for helping me understand
Thanks for this video! Lots of good information! One thing I would love to know that you didn’t mention is which platforms allow you to pay for only one subject? My kids don’t ever do reading or math online, but we like to use it occasionally for science, social studies, etc..
I don't know of any stand alone programs for those subjects although there's clearly a need for them! Study.com if you just get the basic package is a good option. You can do any course you like and you don't have to go in order or anything like that. Check out my full reviews on Study.com if you're interested.
Great overview of the various homeschools out there! I am definitely pushing to remove my kid from public school and move her into homeschool. For the homeschool, you highly recommend do they offer writing assignments for the kids.
Thank you! I have been on the fence about T4L and Miacademy. I think, if I understand right, there’s a lot of paperwork to print out on Miacademy that I would have to grade. I’m trying to find something that will take a little of the load off of me and put a little more responsibility on the kids. They tend to try to skim by on some things or skip their work. As long as T4L doesn’t require them to be online at a certain time of day, I think we will go with that one to start. Thanks for your video.
Hi! We've done Miacademy for 2 years and love it. It is all online and practices and quizzes are graded by them instantly. Any pdf's are supplemental ie: games, stories (if you don't want to read on the computer), practice worksheets, etc. I've never had to grade anything from a pdf. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the information and links. I like Khan Academy because it holds my daughter’s attention and encourages her to try. My daughter is under two. I’m going to save this video and watch it again when she is a little older.
She is so young, I bet there will be even more options by the time she really needs them! I do a lot of reviews on my channel like this one so hopefully they will be helpful to you!
@@AmandaMelrose thank you. Finding options that work for her at this age has been a little difficult but I wanted to start early. I subscribed after seeing this video. So, I’ll be able to check more of your videos out easily.
So glad I found this video - first time homeschooling at grade 5 and 4 and my goodness there is there a plethora of resources ! Probably gonna try miacademy or that adventure one for mine to start 🥰 Thanks for making this !!!
Power homeschool does not alert me when my kids are stuck low grades or struggling. They also just crashed a lot of kids finished classes. Took my oldest back to November with zero warning. They won’t help fix the problem. Zero communication about what’s going on.
@@AmandaMelrose It’s better to use Acellus, everything is done for you and that never happens. If child is struggling, it automatically provides help videos, extra practice n QUIZES before moving to next lesson, and it will continue to provide help videos on that same topic until child truly understands. Worth every penny!
@@annag5642 it’s also a more expensive. I couldn’t trust them after how they messed over so many kiddos. Their curriculum is also very outdated and super simple.
I'm 14, my mom has tasked me with finding a homeschooling program I like so I'll stop complaining. Do any of these have toggleable/no videos? They just slow me down.
Like you just want to read the lesson transcript? Study.com allows you to do that. Or something like Monarch if you don't mind a Christian program. Most of the others are going to have the video play through before you can move on. There are other options to homeschooling though. It doesn't all have to be online, or all online, or the same program for each subject. There are a lot of options.
We love IXL, it will truly assess your child’s abilities. That’s when I knew Power a school/Acellus was way behind where it needed to be academically. I would never suggest it to anyone.
I have been meaning to test out Power Homeschool in more detail, I have heard some not so good things since making this video! Thank you for your comment!
My kids would get so upset to get to 100% on IXL. You could be doing 1 activity for hours if you miss just one every 10 problems and it you essentially have to start again. It was upsetting to my kids.
Thank you SOOOOO much!!!! Im getting redy to go over the road for a few months snd im bringing my kids with me. This was so helpful in cutting through all the information out here
@@AmandaMelrose Hi if you can please help me that be great I’m 56 with an 11 year old that has adhd with IEP in school I’m thinking to pull him out of his public charter school he’s in 6th grade going to 7th I’m in Florida what is the best option for him that wouldn’t cost me a lot or perhaps free that he doesn’t have to be sitting for hours on tablet for hours with out a break.looking where he also be able to have teachers actually be able to help him I prefer that the school set his curriculum for him as I don’t think I’d be able to handle it
I just cancelled my t4l. It wasn’t working out for my kids. My 2nd grader has liked Mia so far. And my Kinder… we are working on it. We are doing some freestyle hands on learning. That seems more fitting for her. Thank you for your review!
Sometimes we have to keep trying different things! That's the best part of homeschooling IMO - being able to find what works for each child and being able to change it up if it's no longer working.
Thanks for sharing online curriculum. We all prefer working offline for the most part and only use Teaching Textbooks as of right now, but I'm needing to find some options for one of my kids to work independently so I'm glad I found your reviews. Everyone always shares boxed curriculum (which is great) but sometimes you need to outsource some things. I will say I am a little surprised, I would have guessed IXL would be the worst pick lol. Two years ago we enrolled in a virtual charter school and they pushed IXL really hard on my then 3rd grader and we both HATED it. It felt like it brought a new meaning to the term "busy work". It just felt like a never ending quiz lol. Where as we have used Khan Academy here or there and have been happy with it but maybe that's because we use it as a supplemental resources and not a complete curriculum.
After doing a more thorough review of IXL on my channel, I do agree it's not so much a homeschooling program, more of a way to practice skills. But Khan Academy does not have a full language arts curriculum and I find it complicated to follow along if you want to use the math curriculum. But that's why it's so great that we have options!
what else do you use in addition to Khan? We use Saxon for math, so I'm not looking for math. But I do want to find good science and more language arts.
@@sheltershowcase My girls use saxon math, Rod and staff grammar, Spelling workout and for everything else they use Memoria Press and we are very happy with that. MP has done great things for them and we utilize their video lessons for some subjects. With my oldest son (4th grade but with reading and writing delays, from dyslexia and fine motor weakness) I'm still playing with finding the right fit for him. Currently He uses math with confidence, Elemental Science (we have their classical series and some of the unit studies) and curiosity chronicals for history which is great. Language arts is what we are struggling to find the right fit with. What I originally planned didnt end up being the great fit I thought it would be so for now we use the memories press literature study guides and grammar. He also uses writing with ease, spelling connections, and two programs from logic of english called sounding out the sightwords and rhythm of handwriting. We are starting Touch Type Read and Spell today. It cover a few language arts topics and typing and I've been looking into other programs like night zookeeper for language arts and trying to find some classes on outschool but we'll see.
Thanks for your review. We are beginning homeschool next school year and trying to figure out which curriculum to use. We were thinking of using time 4 learning and miacademy as a subliminal.
Don’t waste your money, Mia academy is more advanced than T4L. T4L is very kiddie and gets very boring, to much animation with silly characters, and most importantly they increase their price and charge for putting account on hold, just some extra fees all the time, not worth it and child won’t excel.
For OLDER kids: I wanted to offer my many years experience with Miacademy/Always Ice Cream (the girls-only version). My daughter has been doing it for years. When she was younger, ie 2nd grade it was great! Now that she is in 6th grade and her interest have changed, I can say that the moderators REALLY cater to the young kids. There is a huge difference between a kindergartener and an 8th grader; interests and development. My daughter’s interests are constantly being denied, taken down, etc because “…young members”. (Ie Gacha characters (not inappropriately made), FNAF, etc) I fully understand and respect the moderation, but there is a massive imbalance in taking into consideration the age differences. I monitor my child extensively online and much of what she has been denied of is just silly & not justifiable. This has made her not enjoy it as much and honestly, me too. Our membership ends Dec 15th and this has me seeking elsewhere.
Thank you for sharing! That makes sense! When my daughter was using it her videos (just her dancing around) would sometimes get denied because of the music she chose. No swearing or anything like that, just not an artist they approved of. She was disappointed too.
Show them the average reading levels for a high school graduate in the US. But if your parents are against homeschooling, perhaps a private online school would be an easier transition? They are a bit more expensive than homeschooling, but something like k12 private academy might be a good fit?
Hi! Thank you so much for this video! It's very helpful. I had a question for you. My son goes to public school. I just need an online tool that will be a supplement in addition to school curriculum. He needs to practice focusing independently and i want him to improve his test taking skills. So basically i want him to practice again whatever was taught in school so that he can be on top of things and in some cases ahead of class. Which online program do you suggest?
IXL because you can align it to their school curriculum that they're using. It's already used in a lot of schools. I have a 7 day free trial code and also a full video on my channel. Or you can use Khan Academy which is free. Many schools use that too. But just for practice I think you'll like IXL.
Highly informative video!!!!We use dk12 for our family and our kids love it. Its free and they have awesome costumer service. Since using them homeschooling has become so easy for me. Thank you so much for putting time into this video, homeschooling is the only way to go
I'm 18 and I don't want to be in a physical high-school anymore, I want to finish and get my matric certificate as soon as possible. I'm in grade 10 currently but I finished and passed so I'd be in grade 11 next year. I want to move to online school and finish school that way, but I want a matric that would count the same as a normal matric. Where would I be able to get that?
Funny you mention Roblox and Brookhaven, my 8 year old loves Roblox and plays Brookhaven and Bloxburg all the time! 😅 I will look at Adventure Academy for him as a fun side game. Thanks for the list! I'm starting homeschool this year and definitely needed this!
Be careful with Roblox. I let my son play it for a while and periodically checked in to see how the game was. Brookhaven was one of his favorites and I found you can initiate characters to do “adult things” and immediately turned me off from it
Which one would you say would be the best if you’re starting out with the online schooling and you needed to do an assessment or placement to figure out where the child should start?
IXL is the best to assess your child's level in my opinion. They have the real-time diagnostics tool which is pretty neat. Use the 7 day free trial and have your child spend some time using that tool. It will show a score like 200 or 300 which equates to 2nd or 3rd grade, etc. Then I would go with Miacademy or Time 4 Learning if you are just starting and want something all inclusive.
Great question! I don't actually know of any others with AI tools other than Khan and CK12 but I assume that more companies will take advantage of the technology soon!
I had the same experience. I found myself supplementing way too much for it to be a full curriculum. They were all done within an hour with every subject.😞
If you want something accredited then you need an online school not a homeschooling program. Only a school can be accredited. When you homeschool, your home is the school. So even if a curriculum claims to be accredited, that can only be if the curriculum comes from an accredited school, as a curriculum itself cannot be accredited. That said, I have reviewed several online schools on my channel. You might like CMASAS, or K12 Private Academy. Hope this helps!
Thank you for taking the time to create this valuable vontent. My 9 year old and I have been using time4learning and it has become utterly unbearable. It is very dated and poorly considered. The very childish nature of the characters is distracting, and we absolutely hate having to sit through the same tacky animations ad nauseum in order to progress through the lessons, it is asinine. Looking forward to trying some of these options instead.
My daughter thought the same thing. She said it's too babyish. Miacademy might be a good choice or study.com which I don't think I mentioned in this video.
Thank you for this video it was very helpful. I am planning on going with time4learning after watching this video. Any chance have you every tried beast Acadamy or teaching textbooks and what were your thoughts?.
I am so glad you found it helpful! I have not tried that one, but I am learning about many more programs that I am working on videos for. I just did one on a brand new program for pre-k through 2nd grade if your kids are small - Homeschool Plus. It's from the makers of ABC mouse. My next video will be on Study.com, which has a big homeschool curriculum for grades 3 and up. As for written curriculum if that's what you're asking about - we have always used Horizons for math and phonics/reading. We use a mix of other things for other subjects. I like the website/catalog from rainbow resource to purchase our workbooks and teaching supplies. Congratulations on homeschooling!
I used khan academy after highschool. I took a placement test for college and landed in remedial math I wouldn't even get credit for. I spend a year working on my own through khan academy and held off on paying for classes. When i took the placement test again, I was able to take a higher math class than I was required to. I now use khan for my 9 yo homeschooler that struggles with math like me, and needs everything broken down and visualized for her. I agree 100% it isn't geared toward homeschoolers and is a great tool for some kids. My 12 year old on the other hand, is a walking calculator. Khan bores her to death because it moves so slow. She grasps math concepts too quick for khan, it just won't work for her.
Just change her grade level for math. She may need to do 10th grade math. When I went on Khan I noticed you can change the grade levels for each subject.
This is an online virtual school, not a homeschooling program. There are big differences between the two. I do have a video on my channel about 10 online virtual schools for high school that you can check out for more online virtual schools!
Yes, Abeka Academy. I have a review video on my channel. You still need the books for that program though. The lessons are online but a lot of the work is done in books.

Thank you for your answer. I try to become a full time travel family. If we can find a sustainable way. I think the 100% online version will be our best option @@AmandaMelrose
Some kids honestly just don't like doing online school. There are other options! You could do a mix of paper textbooks and online programs. For instance use Khan Academy for math, maybe a couple fun online reading programs but then also do print curriculum and hands on learning as well.
Thank you for this review! I was just wondering if there was a reason you didn't cover abeka? My daughter's friend uses it, so I was just wondering. Thank you so much for the informative video!
Thank you for your review. I really like Khan Academy but I couldn't find Science, Social Study for Elementary level. Do you have any experience about these courses?
CK12.org has free science courses for elementary. Social studies, you can try freedom homeschooling for links to some free resources. For paid, I have a whole video on homeschool science programs. And I'm working on one for social studies. Or you could just sign up for time4learning or miacademy and just use it for the social studies courses.
As far as the laws for other countries? The only country that I've heard it's completely illegal in is Germany. I know it's popular in Canada, the UK, Australia and elsewhere.
Hello, could anyone please assist me? I'm in search of a free or reasonably priced Christian homeschooling curriculum for my 10-year-old son. We are presently residing in Florida and will be relocating to Abbotsford, BC, Canada next week. Thank you.
Thanks for the review! This helped a lot to get to know some of homeschooling programs. Do you think these programs allow students outside the US to take these programs? Thanks!
Anyone can take them but you would need to determine based on where you live if the curriculums are suitable to satisfy requirements. For instance, a lot of these cover U.S. history, because that is something that is big in U.S. schools. You country may have requirements that these programs don't include.
Please help. I'm lost! I feel like I'm failing my 5yr old and 6yr old children. Honestly homeschooling isn't as easy as it seems. I enrolled them into public school online but it's NOT what I thought it was. Please someone help me. Idk what to do. I'm lost. I'm really sad and lonely. I feel so alone in the education for my children I want to be the best homeschooling mama and do it correctly. I have issues with being organized. I'm all over the place causing me to not being able to teach in a organized way of teaching. I'm so lost Please help me!! 💓🙏
Don't try to recreate school at home! You don't have to do just what public schools are doing. Slow down. Have you checked Facebook for local homeschool groups? Send me an email info@twentytinytoes.com and I'll be happy to talk with you!
You are not alone. There's so much out there now. It is overwhelming. But, you can do this. Remember that homeschooling was the reality for most of human history, not kids in a classroom. I'm more minimalist, so I stick with the basics: Reading, Writing (Language Arts), Math, and Citizenship is required in my state. Go to HSLDA to find laws for your state if you're in the US. After that, my kids explore their interests, ask questions, and we do spiritual/life skills and lots of read-a-louds, park and other activities, etc. To simplify, the only things I have scheduled regularly are spiritual and the basics/required by law to not feel so overwhelmed. You and your kids are capable! ❤️
Time 4 Learning and Miacademy definitely do. I'm not sure about Power Homeschool but I assume they would. Adventure academy is not really a homeschool program so not that (although there is a new program by the same creator called Homeschool Plus that should). Khan may for Math. IXL lets you view the skills by state requirements although their program is more of a skill practice than a full program, you will still have to teach the curriculum from the textbooks but they have their own IXL ones or you can use other books that align with the program.
I'm not 100% sure for the older kids. When we were using it for 3rd grade I don't remember seeing anything I had to grade myself. I am planning to do a full review of it for high school soon. But as for the diploma, this is an online homeschooling program, not a school, so they do not issue a diploma. If you are homeschooling, in most states you keep the transcripts and issue the diploma yourself. That's how homeschooling works and most employers and colleges don't care about a diploma, it's just something you hang on a wall. They DO care about the transcripts though. If you're wanting a program that takes care of all of that for you, you probably want to look into an online private school, not a homeschooling program. I do have a video of some great online virtual schools on my channel.
No because these are not schools and only a school can be accredited. Think of these more like curriculums that just happen to be online instead of a book.
I disagree! Time4Learning is far from the best, it’s very kiddie and has many glitches and mistakes. It’s very boring and very broad. Not to mention as a parent you have to create schedule etc and do your own report cards. Acellus aka Power homeschool is a comprehensive curriculum that keeps the kids engaged, it’s very advanced in the sense that if your child has difficulty, it automatically provides help videos before child moves on to next lesson. Also, after every lesson there’s a short quiz to test understanding. You can check daily progress and retake test to review and earn better grade. It provides report cards and certificates of completion, all you have to do is print. All in all, it really frees the parent from being on top of things everyday and your kid is still on track.
I disagree with you as far as Power School. It is very out of date and very remedial. I had to go back over Algebra with my kiddo after he completed their course with a high A average.
It’s excellent and lots of practice, but some work required from you to set up n keep on top of, also have to print it all or purchase WB, and do your own grading. I used it as a supplemental for extra worksheets practice. But it’s very well put together
Oh my gosh, there are SO many reasons, and they're different for every family, but here are some of the more common reasons: more time as a family, flexibility, to be able to provide a personalized education, to provide a better education than the local public school, safety, mental health, for other health reasons, to give our kids more time to pursue their interests, I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot because the list is long!
We tried time for learning and disliked it. We had been doing powerhouse homeschool for 2 years and wanted a change. We switched back to powerhouse homeschool but after all the recent drama I think we will try Mia Academy next year.
According to Wikipedia: social studies is the integrated study of multiple fields of social science and the humanities, including history, culture, geography and political science.
Last year, I found a literature/English curriculum featuring a guy who dressed like someone from the past. It looked like a lot of fun, but we ended up not getting it. Now, I don't remember the name of the curriculum & can't seem to find it. It was for my 7th grader. Do you know what it might be? I'm grasping at straws.
Programs like Time for Learning, Miacademy, Power Homeschool, Monarch, and others are considered "all in one" homeschooling programs, so you shouldn't need much else except adding extras like science experiments or other hands on activities. Or you can homeschool without doing it online at all. There are so many options.
Hello, i’m currently getting ready to enroll into an online school, i am a junior this year and i was planning on using khan academy, i signed up and everything, will this give me credits to graduate?
Khan academy isn't really an online school. If you are homeschooling then your parents can just issue your diploma and decide you're ready to "graduate" but if you're looking for something accredited that's going to actually issue you a diploma, you will need something different
I did k 12 and if your not "married" with a Stanley cup... Yeah you will be judged. Then hell has no furry if you have an autistic child needing an IEP. You will be treated as trash and have no communication 😮... I'm actively watching this video so I can get away from the unprofessional creatures that work there.
We started on T4L and switched to Acellus. My daughter is now in the 4th Grade. T4L had so many bugs and wrong answers it started to get annoying. Not to mention, it was such a pre-k (baby) type of programming for every grade. My daughter was so bored with it. We love Acellus it follows a great curriculum and keeps my daughter engaged.
@TwentyTinyToes1 Is it more babyish or is it geared more to the ADHD or Autistic student? I'm looking for a ADHD friendly curriculum for my daughter. We've been using Monarch and it just isn't working for her.
We've been using Acellus (through power homeschool) for 2 years now. We looked at T4L but I ultimately let my son (3rd grader at the time) pick between the 2. He wanted to do Acellus because it looked like he was learning from adults and not learning through a baby taught program. He loves video games and is into coding, but the T4L came across as material that was dumbed down. Which he didn't want. I also like acellus that it is accredited.
That is exactly why we switched from T4L to Acellus. There were so many typos. I appreciate that Acellus feels maintained and up to date, especially with the Science Live shows each Wednesday. They even livestreamed the most recent eclipse.
My mom just gave me a tablet and khan academy. I skipekd grades,NEever completed any, And just can't get around to studying because I don't have a schedule and khan academy gives too many courses.
I don't think khan should be your only resource except maybe for math. How about discovery k12 or Easy peasy if she wants it to be free? Or for inexpensive I think time 4 learning or miacademy/mia prep would be better choices.
I don't understand what you mean? Khan academy is 100% free for anyone. I've set up multiple free accounts just to make videos about it. Never paid a cent and I am a homeschool parent not a teacher. If you need help setting it up I'd be happy to help.

For higher grades they do. Some of those you need to grade yourself. It depends on the program.
I'm glad you found it helpful. Time 4 learning is flexible and self paced.
@@AmandaMelrose thanks!
Probably gonna try miacademy or that adventure one for mine to start 🥰
Thanks for making this !!!
Time for learning or homeschool plus might be good for you! I have reviews of both on my channel. And thank you!
adventure one was mostly games... not a fan.... Time4Learning was too kiddy, but miacademy was great until about 8th grade.
Thank you so much for this!! I appreciate your time and dedication!!
You are so welcome!
Power homeschool does not alert me when my kids are stuck low grades or struggling. They also just crashed a lot of kids finished classes. Took my oldest back to November with zero warning. They won’t help fix the problem. Zero communication about what’s going on.
Ugh that's terrible! Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes, they made this change over this past Easter weekend with no notice and no remorse. Power Homeschool cannot be trusted. 😢
These jerks messed over our family as well. Immediately cancelled after years of use. Extremely upset.
Thanks for confirmation - we have been using IXL for 2 years, it's advanced and always challenging my girls.
I have been meaning to test out Power Homeschool in more detail, I have heard some not so good things since making this video! Thank you for your comment!
Do you use it for teaching or just practice?
The reviews for IXL across the board are horrendous.
This was so helpful in cutting through all the information out here
That sounds so exciting! I'm glad you found this helpful!
Thanks very short and informative im doing research because i want to do homeschool and my parents support my decision!!
So glad you found it helpful! You might also check out Study.com, Easy Peasy All In One, Discovery K12, or Abeka Academy.
I love your video. Time for learning has changed its prices though! It sucks, how they just increased their prices randomly.
Yes I just heard about that!
Given what you know now, what would be your top 2 platforms now for 4-8 grade (including the platforms not mentioned in the video) and why? Thanks!
Miacademy and Time4Learning are still my favorite secular programs. Monarch for a Christian program.
I've used Khan, power homeschool and am currently using time 4 learning. My kids were not a fan of power homeschool but are liking time 4 learning.
I'm glad that is working well for you!
Thanks so much for this great video; very helpful!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for your review. We are beginning homeschool next school year and trying to figure out which curriculum to use. We were thinking of using time 4 learning and miacademy as a subliminal.
Congratulations on making the decision to Homeschool!
Don’t waste your money, Mia academy is more advanced than T4L.
T4L is very kiddie and gets very boring, to much animation with silly characters, and most importantly they increase their price and charge for putting account on hold, just some extra fees all the time, not worth it and child won’t excel.
T4L is soooo kiddie! We’re trying to find something more challenging for next year.
We travel frequently what home school curriculum is best for us? I have 1st ,3rd and 11th grade
I think a lot of families that travel like Miacademy and Mia Prep (for high school). Or you can use an online school like K12 private academy.
I am a 7th grader trying to to convince my parents to homeschool, any tips? Or a specific app or website??❤❤
Show them the average reading levels for a high school graduate in the US. But if your parents are against homeschooling, perhaps a private online school would be an easier transition? They are a bit more expensive than homeschooling, but something like k12 private academy might be a good fit?
What's your thoughts on Connections Academy for homeschooling?
I believe that is an online public school.
@@AmandaMelrose yes it is.
Thank you for this!! I think we’ll try Mia Academy starting out.
Good luck, it's a good program 🙂
@@AmandaMelrose Thank you so much for your invaluable feedback!!!
Highly informative video!!!!We use dk12 for our family and our kids love it. Its free and they have awesome costumer service. Since using them homeschooling has become so easy for me. Thank you so much for putting time into this video, homeschooling is the only way to go
Thank you so much!
Hello, do you know if you can customize dk12 for example to have 5th grade math and 8th grade reading?
Thanks for your video. Is there a homeschooling program with a business curriculum? Thank you.
Study.com has business courses, thats all I can think of right now but I bet there's more!
Then you want an accredited online school not a homeschooling program. There are tons of those. I have some reviews on my channel as well.
Good luck, you won't regret homeschooling!
Be careful with Roblox. I let my son play it for a while and periodically checked in to see how the game was. Brookhaven was one of his favorites and I found you can initiate characters to do “adult things” and immediately turned me off from it
Thank you for making this! It’s been a big help
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful!
Which platforms include AI tools? I saw in some of your videos that Khan and Ck12 included AI tools. Any others? Any you'd recommend?
Great question! I don't actually know of any others with AI tools other than Khan and CK12 but I assume that more companies will take advantage of the technology soon!
Amazing comprehensive summary!
Thank you so much!
My kids are testing out miacademy. They seem to be enjoying, but the lessons seems small and quick im not sure if it's actually a full curriculum
Thanks for the feedback! I will have to do a more thorough review of that one soon!
I had the same experience. I found myself supplementing way too much for it to be a full curriculum. They were all done within an hour with every subject.😞
Kinda off putting for the monthly cost
My kids think its babyish
Have you done a video on BJU press homeschool?
Not yet! But i do mention it in another video. I'll have a full video out on it coming soon.
I have a kindergartner what’s best I’m looking for accredited ?
If you want something accredited then you need an online school not a homeschooling program. Only a school can be accredited. When you homeschool, your home is the school. So even if a curriculum claims to be accredited, that can only be if the curriculum comes from an accredited school, as a curriculum itself cannot be accredited.
That said, I have reviewed several online schools on my channel. You might like CMASAS, or K12 Private Academy. Hope this helps!
Oh ! I see I live in Texas does it matter wether if it is or it isint ? Thank you for your reply by the way !❤️
Thank you very much for this video! I love it.
You are so very welcome! Thank you for letting me know!
Which of these will TEACH the child to read? I know Miacademy will not. Excellent video! I am so very grateful.
Thank you! I think Time 4 Learning or Homeschool Plus (a new program from the creators of ABC Mouse) are good programs for early reading.
My son did well with the reading eggs app
A beka does. My son took 4k and kindergarten and was reading well by 1st grade 🎉
Anyone have a review for Liberty University Online Academy?
I would love to review the online private schools if given the opportunity!
Time for learning kept crashing on us and it was really hard to get fixed. Kahn kept crashing too and deleted my son's progress.
That's sad to hear! I have not experienced that fortunately, but good to know!
Thank you for sharing your experience with it! Very helpful information!
Try CTC Math they are the best.
Just change her grade level for math. She may need to do 10th grade math. When I went on Khan I noticed you can change the grade levels for each subject.
Super helpful, thank you!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful!
I just dropped power homeschool because IT STOPPED WORKING! I want something just like it.. that works consistently!
Time4Learning or Miacademy are the closest and similarly priced.
Thank you for all this great advice.

@@AmandaMelrose I'm not really. Sure most of them tak you straight to. The website so yeah idk
Hi! Does anyone have any insight with "International Schooling" . Are they a good and legitimate school ?
This is an online virtual school, not a homeschooling program. There are big differences between the two. I do have a video on my channel about 10 online virtual schools for high school that you can check out for more online virtual schools!
How about online virtual schools for elementary students?
Khan Academy is actually good I will pair that with ABC Learning😊 your mommy out there with a Pre-K and up this is the best bet
Khan Academy or the Khan Academy Kids app?
Any good online school for travelers
Most of the online homeschooling programs I've reviewed are flexible and self paced, so they work well for families who travel.
Prisma seems like an interesting option for traveling families.
This was very helpful! 🙂
I'm so glad! Thank you for letting me know!
Very interesting. Thank you for that video. Did you hear about Abeka homeschooling program? If yes, what do you think about that option?
Yes, Abeka Academy. I have a review video on my channel. You still need the books for that program though. The lessons are online but a lot of the work is done in books.
Thank you for your answer. I try to become a full time travel family. If we can find a sustainable way. I think the 100% online version will be our best option @@AmandaMelrose
I’m trying to travel too so I’m looking for something I can use overseas
Is there a homeschooling program that gives yearly certificates upon completion of each grade?
I'm sure some of them might have something you can print, or you could just make your own!
Thank you, this was so helpful!
You are welcome!
My kids don't like power homeschool..we have tried it so many times...I like the program, but what can I say.
Some kids honestly just don't like doing online school. There are other options! You could do a mix of paper textbooks and online programs. For instance use Khan Academy for math, maybe a couple fun online reading programs but then also do print curriculum and hands on learning as well.
Great video 👏🏼 thank you!!
Thank you! I hope it was helpful!
Thank you for this review! I was just wondering if there was a reason you didn't cover abeka? My daughter's friend uses it, so I was just wondering. Thank you so much for the informative video!
I didn't know as much about it at the time of this video. I do have a full review of it on my channel now though!
Time4Learning pricing for 6-8 grade jumped from $24.95 all the way to $39.95. This video is listed as one year old. That is quite the price jump!
Yes, I think they did that earlier this year.
Do you have any insight of homeschooling outside the US?
As far as the laws for other countries? The only country that I've heard it's completely illegal in is Germany. I know it's popular in Canada, the UK, Australia and elsewhere.
Parents love Time4learning, but I don’t know a kid over 12 who didn’t grow to hate it.
Yes I agree, I don't know if it's the best choice for older kids.
this is so real. time4learning middle schooler here, the math lessons are unbearable lmao might convince my parents to get me on another soon
Thank God for this channel. 🙏
Aww thank you so much!
Does time 4 learning have assessment placing?
No, it’s a waste of money. Very kiddie!!! And charge you even when u put it on hold during summer
Hello, could anyone please assist me? I'm in search of a free or reasonably priced Christian homeschooling curriculum for my 10-year-old son. We are presently residing in Florida and will be relocating to Abbotsford, BC, Canada next week. Thank you.
Online is Easy Peasy all in one, free and Christian. A good reasonably priced one is also Schoolhouseteachers.com or Monarch.
@AmandaMelrose Thank you! I will look at it immediately !
@@AmandaMelrose Thanks again. Looks good!!! God bless
Thanks for the info much needed
You're welcome I'm glad it was helpful!
I'm tearing up just writing this taking breaks to wipe tears of defeate and failure from my eyes to even see and be able to ask for help. I hate the fact that I'm failing my children trying my best to homeschool them and I feel so alone I have no friends. I need to be apart of a community of homeschooling parents. I enrolled them into public school online but it's NOT what I thought it was. Please someone help me. Idk what to do. I'm lost. I'm really sad and lonely. I feel so alone in the education for my children
I want to be the best homeschooling mama and do it correctly.
Have u heard of acellus homeschool program? Does anyone know the cons and pros
Acellus academy is basically the same as power homeschool, you just pay more for the accredited label, diploma, transcripts, that type of thing.
Do these have the scope and sequenses? As its needed for my state for the letter of intent to the school board of education.
I will definitely be checking these out!
Hope you enjoy!
for time for learning do the parents grade the work like essays and things??
oh and doesnt the work have to be sent into the state or something how do I do that for my kid to get a diploma?? once they graduate
Hi nice video i want to know what they do for science experiments on home schooling
This is likely something you will need to supplement.
Are any of these accredited?
Thank you for sharing your experience! I definitely agree Time 4 Learning can be babyish!
I disagree with you as far as Power School. It is very out of date and very remedial. I had to go back over Algebra with my kiddo after he completed their course with a high A average.
Can any of these be used for tutoring?
Study.com has tutoring. I don't think i mentioned that one here but I do have some reviews of it on my channel.
Which program is best for grade 7 students and grade2 both
Time 4 learning imo
Is time for learning accredited?
What are your thoughts on Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool curriculum?
This is one I'm not as familiar with but I plan to learn more about it soon. It is free which is good though!
It’s excellent and lots of practice, but some work required from you to set up n keep on top of, also have to print it all or purchase WB, and do your own grading. I used it as a supplemental for extra worksheets practice. But it’s very well put together
Curious as to why someone would want to homeschool their children.
We are doing time4learning and it's been pretty good for us. We have Come and went with them .
Same, but it's definitely been the one we used most.
We tried time for learning and disliked it. We had been doing powerhouse homeschool for 2 years and wanted a change. We switched back to powerhouse homeschool but after all the recent drama I think we will try Mia Academy next year.
I just did a full video on miacademy, it's pretty easy to get set up and get started with!
As a Mia Academy homeschooler I love it!!
Adventure academy the kids had fun playing but definitely just more playing
Yes, that's exactly what we experienced!
What is social studies
According to Wikipedia: social studies is the integrated study of multiple fields of social science and the humanities, including history, culture, geography and political science.
@@AmandaMelrose Thanks. I just knew it as history and geography when I went to school.

Do you use all of these at the same time? I am looking into homeschooling my two children and I am lost...
Programs like Time for Learning, Miacademy, Power Homeschool, Monarch, and others are considered "all in one" homeschooling programs, so you shouldn't need much else except adding extras like science experiments or other hands on activities. Or you can homeschool without doing it online at all. There are so many options.
i use time for learnig and i love it
Thank you for sharing, that's great!
I did k 12 and loved it
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing! I do agree that time for learning can be babyish!
We found Acellus super simple and too goofy.
Khan is NOT free. I'm not sure why people keep saying that, it's free for teachers but not parents.
I don't understand what you mean? Khan academy is 100% free for anyone. I've set up multiple free accounts just to make videos about it. Never paid a cent and I am a homeschool parent not a teacher. If you need help setting it up I'd be happy to help.
I’ve used it as a teacher and parent and never paid. It is difficult to have multiple administrators like parent and tutor on it.
