- What’s up guys,
Hope you’re doing well.
Just wanted to put out a quick video,
Thanks again for all the support.
P.S. I used my iPhone to record, edit, and upload. What do you guys think? - Розваги
I daily an Audi with the gen 3 2.0T, tuned, yet when I work on or drive my dad’s 200k mile ‘09 Jetta Wagon with the 2.5, while the Audi is in a whole different category performance wise, I’m always impressed by the smoothness of the 2.5 and the sound always puts a smile on my face. There’s much, much more to a car than the 0-60 times!
I've had my 2011 2.5 SE Jetta for 3 years now. Best buy I made so far, and very reliable. Never been a car guy but this car is making me want to be one! 😂
Awesome man, I’ve owned a Jetta 2.5 for 4 years now, but now I’ve finally been able to become a car guy too. At first, I didn’t know how to do an oil change, now I have the thing on coils and hoping to get an exhaust soon.
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 Same here! This car was the first I've done an oil change, brakes, installed a radio and back up camera! That's funny because coils is next on my to do list!
Depending on how low you wanna go, you should do the IRS swap.
Still driving 2.5 2007 for 191,000 no issues. Might not be fast but never lets me down.
Broooo fuck yeah!!! 07 190k miles too still drives like a beaut🤙🏽
Y'all making me feel really confident in my 160k miles :)
I got 233k
I own a 2011 2.5 SEL auto. Its a great car. Pop it in sport mode on city streets and its peppy enough to satisfy that itch. I've done a lot of cosmetic upgrades to it to make it not look so "soccer momish" though. Vland headlights and tailights, gli style honeycomb grilles with a German flag 🇩🇪, yellow tinted fog lights, black spoke rims with yellow calipers, tinted windows, front splitter, racing tow hook, duckbill spoiler, carbon fiber wrapped interior accents, and.... underglow lol I get hate for that one but hey, I like it
Glad to see that you picked up a realizable cruiser, and the same year the legendary 5cyl received the 20HP increase. I have owned a high mileage 2011 and recently a low mileage 2014 wagon in 2.5L. ( in 2011 they increased the MPG by a few) .
It checks enough boxes , is practical enough and not boring to drive. Isn't it strange how the 5cyl grows on you? Not the power, but the power delivery. The linear torque curve . Even though it's not as smooth as the DSG, the automatic is perfectly satisfactory.
I almost bought a Diesel wagon from the dealer impressed by the torque and low prices a few years ago, but luckily pulled out of the deal and eventually bought the 2.5L( no potential , several thousand dollar HPFP replacement cost!)
Yes sir. She’s still doing great now. She’s at 115k miles. Mods have slowed down since I’ve had other goals and stuff to worry about.
Glad you have the love for the 07K too.
I had a mk4 jetta with the 2.slow (2.0L I4 producing 100hp) for 2.5 years. Finally, about 2 months ago, when that had major electrical issues, I bought a mk6 golf with the 2.5. I have to say that it's 170hp makes it feel terribly fast after my previous car, yet I can understand when other people say it's slow. It just barely beat my friends stock chevy 5.3 half ton so ya it's not fast but it's sure a ton better than what I used to drive. My brother has the same car as me but with the tdi and I am SO glad I didn't end up with that engine. Less power yet, more expensive to maintain, and very much the same in every other way.
I've had my 2.5 for 10 years and the sound still makes me smile. Not fast at all but peppy enough to have a bit of fun once you throw a couple mods on it. Got a tune and some bolt ons on my manual 2 door golf. I can hang with a stock mk6 gti and beat my friends 2006 si as well as beat a brz by a good margin lol(vid on my channel). Still craving a lot more power but the 5 is just too unique to pass up. I hope to get an rs3 one day, though a shame there's no manual.
My first car was a 2.5. I want to get an 8J TTRS. They’re the TT that came with the previous 2.5 TFSI engine. Yeah, shame there’s no more manual 5 Pots.

@@whatsaninlinefive7009 I've looked at those but the practicality isn't there for me. I might just suck it up and drive a dsg lol
I have a 2.5 and it really goes fast
@@jasonmoukala8909 Depends on your definition of fast haha.
Good choice! Alot less problems then the gli/gti ea888 engine's
I got an intake, awe exhaust & tune on my 2.5l golf mk6 and I love it
That’s awesome man. With everything I’ve done to the car, it makes me appreciate the reliability and how fun it is.
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 Yup the 2.5l & VR6 are both solid!
I have a 2011 Jetta manual. Double muffler delete, intake, spulin vacuum pump delete, raceland coils, usp red top coil packs/ spark plugs, Gli paint matched bumper, niche wheels 18x8, ecs tuning gli lip and eBay rear roof spoiler and spoiler. I have the ie power adapter just waiting to tune it
I love my 5 cylinder so much
These things are bullet proof. 235k on mine all original. It’s been through many camping trips, desert trips, I’ve taken it on trails that only trucks are supposed to go through😂. It’s been cross country. To work and back. Even hit a raccoon in the Midwest that had to have the front end replaced. But this thing just won’t die.
Sounds like you’ve been putting it to work, bet bang for your buck there
I had an '06 Golf/Rabbit 2.5.I gave it to my aged parents because of the safety features and heated, supportive seats. Then,I bought a TSI.The '06-now nearly fifteen years old-has not needed one mechanical repair.
anyways for you i would get lightweight wheels, id go with enkei because they are cheap compared to the competition and they make absolute gems of wheels, very good quality and as light as u can get a rim, also get a lightweight battery as the battery is in the front and both the engine and battery are very heavy, the 2.5 for the vw lineups were iron blocks which is one reason theyre so dam reliable, anyways get a light battety and youll see a huge improvement in braking, in cornering, and in body roll and pitch. IE tunes are the best tunes for our engines and are cheap and i recommend you do the tcu upgrade as well, both combined cost 500 bucks and is well worth it, you will feel like the car is a fast car at this point and youd be right, it would own gli's on and off the track and never break down on you unlike the the turbo cars. and for intakes unless your going to do a manifold upgrade which would really make you fast but costs quite a bit i would just get k&n filters as the filters give the best hp increase over a short ram or cold air ever could especially during a track day or canyon run and trust me i know this from personal experience, the k&n drop in filters are the best bang for the buck performance 'mod' to the car. It is because they are nicely tucked away from any heat in plastic boxes above the engine and get only direct fresh air from the inlet area located by the front grill, as opposed to a 'cold' air intake which is really a hot air intake as it sits low and to the side of the engine bay, so it not only breathes hotter air but less air as well.
Yessssssss ppl have been sleeping on this platform, i love mine and i have been driving it like i stole it for 8 years, and it loves it, tho i do need motor mounts now, also the low end tourq, is good for offroad use.
i have a 2011 jetta se 2.5 and it was inherited, even if it isn’t the fasted thing in the world i’m super dedicated to make it cool anyway :)
I feel the same way. My parents gave me my first 2.5 and I fell in love.
I would love to turbo mine but that would defeat the point, I chose it over a brz simply for reliability. I figured i rather have one super reliable car and one full on beast, why try to sacrifice shit to find a midway point. Mines a 5spd too, and i have decent fun. Ive driven faster autos that were less fun ie my old is300 (except in the snow! RWD fukya) Idk i like it.
Love my 2013 VW Jetta SE 2.5 same color as yours but mine is automatic.
Nice. I had a Silver one before, personally prefer the gray. It looks so good whenever it’s clean.
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 yes yes 👏 I agree!! 🤩
i had a mk6 jetta.2.5 and had it repoed long story short i found an mk5 jetta 2.5 2008 and its WAY better than my mk6, from the interior, to the speakers, to the handling. The mk6 was good dont get me wrong but it wasnt sporty enough and the suspension set up is TOTALLY different, the mk5 was when volkswagen was not trying to cut any corners and really aimed at taking taking c class and 3 series buyers away and what better way then it to make the handling remarkable, and it is. ive owned an audi b7 s4 ive owned 2 c33 amg's c55 amg's, a g35 coupe with the optional 19" enkei rims which was only on trackpack optioned versions , a g37s sedan, a 2005 e46 325i which i spent close to 8 grand modifying and miss very much, and a clk55 amg and not in that order and so far I've done 17" enkei rims with fat (for my car) tires, straight piped, K&N drop ins and brakes and i swear it handles better than all my previous cars minus maybe the 2006 g35 coupe track pack and my clk55 amg and audi s4, but this is a jetta lol its crazy how nuch quicker they get with a few breather mods and less weight
Yea but the 9, 10 and 11 are bad buys
I just picked up a manual 12’ 2.5 SE sedan. Its a little rough with some rust and 121k but so far its been a cool car to learn to drive manual on. The only issue ive had so far is that the epc light comes on after I rev to 4k or higher each and every time i drive it. The CEL never comes on and when it did, I replaced the parts and fixed those issues, but the epc still comes on. Any advice on a scan tool or should I give up and bring it to a dealer/shop? Ive replaced the MAP, the Evap solenoid, and the PCV valve.
Personally, I use a BlueDriver scan tool. The app is pretty great. BlueDriver allows you to scan Engine codes, Dash codes, and all system modules, and they even give you suggestions on how to fix it.
If the EPC is coming up, what’s the code for it? That’s the first thing you should look at. Your local big chain auto parts store should scan your car for free and provide you the codes and even a brief description per code. If not, just look them up.
replace the throttle body, ignition coils and spark plugs and the EPC light should go away. happened to me too
I also have a jetta mk6 SE, is there any link to that swap you mentioned in the video? I might be interested
Which swap?
I have bad luck with the tsi engine i back to 2.0 not turbo so 2.5 its good too only think its millage but not turbo for while
I recently bought a 2013 2.5, I’d like to manual swap it but I can’t find any information on that
My bad brother, I’ve been trying to find a link, but you should go to our Vw 2.5 Facebook page. Once you get accepted, there will be a lot of information.
Injecters intake and tune you'll make the same power if you do it right, you don't need a turbo, or bore it out and put Forged into it
Intake manifold too
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 feel like that one's a bit obvious but yea someone out there wouldn't know better
You bought a 2.5 so you can get smoked by pretty much anything on the road )
FrostyCoug but they’re more reliable than most vw engines. Mine is running almost 150k with no major problems (knock on wood)
My mk5 beats mustangs all the time so
Not really. I have a 2.5 and it really goes
@Luna EB liqui moly? What’s that
Non turbo cars lasts a very long time due less pressure inside engine, depends on individual needs what you want in a car reliability or speed. Good choice going with 2.5 just keep up with regular maintenance might last till 500k easily.
"mexico" hahahaha
It’s 96°? Why are you both in long sleeve shirts?
Texans. We’re used to it.
5 cylinder + turbo = Volvo whiteblock B5254T2 😆
what year is this car?
2011
Turbo it lol, $5-8K for base golf r hp...minus awd:(
Lol, I thought about doing an N/A build with Cams and stuff. Trying to keep it reliable.
had a 2007 2.5, was reliable but slow as dog shit
One a side note, they upped the power by 20hp in 2008. Still not fast , but at least bearable.
i think the best mod to do to make it more agressive is slap on the mk6 2012 gli front bumper
Tbh, I’m a big fan of the GLI rear end and my swap it over. I really liked the GLI front end, but personally it’s just not for me. Makes me feel like I’m UpBadging the car. I may swap to a R style bumper that I see a lot of people run.
if youre swapping to an r style bumper then youre upbadging and posing even harder than if you used gli parts but wtv
That’s what I did to my mk6 2.5 and I paint matched it toffee brown
fake plastic?
Haha yeah. Bad choice of words. Basically the quality of material used went down. On my friends MK5, it had a softer faux leather dash. Im sure it helps reduce outside noise and rattle, which is hollow plastic on the MK6s. Now with stiffer suspension, I can hear a tiny bit of rattle.
Its gay when u driving automatic 👎🏼 i got the 2011 2.5 se manual its a raw ass car even if it aint as fast it looks way too good and the audi headlights are sexy
