    Thanks for making this video. I’ve got a 1981 31 foot sailboat with a seriously neglected hull. Was thinking I could wet sand with 1000 grit and skip to starke level R and follow up with elevate. Do you think I can get away with just using 1000 grit and then going to compounding? Would be nice to only have to sand one pass

      If it’s seriously neglected... probably not. May need 500 grit first.

    Have you used mirkas abralon wet sanding pads?

    Great job! Surprised that you don’t use a sanding pad.

      Thanks for watching! I use a sanding pad with a DA polisher on bigger jobs.

    Simon your videos are great
    How do you charge for the brow of boat
    From rub rail up rub rail down
    And is there a difference in charging for ceramic coating
    Looking forward to your reply
    Thank you
    Jim

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  Рік тому +1

      I charge the entire boat per foot unless the client requests just the hull or just the topside. The brow is included with the topside price. And yes I do charge more for ceramic coating due to materials & the added protection to the boat

    Do you stay away from the stripes when sanding, buffing and waxing?

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 роки тому +1

      Nope, everything needs all steps! Run buffer SLOW (1000 RPM) around stripes and decals! You don’t want no heat!

      Hi !
      I was told to use a kind of degreaser to remove old wax, and some oxidation. Some people use dish water soap. Some other a chemical base solvent. I was asking you what you are using to prepare the fiberglass before a restoration job ?

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 роки тому +1

      Yes dawn dish soap!
