Nice!
Very helpful!! Awesome job man!!
Interested in what you used please!
Agreed Makita is the best. But it is the heaviest IMO. Has any boat detailers run the FLEX or RUPES rotary buffers? Consider the possible fatigue reduction being 3 or 4 lbs lighter (especially over a long career). Additionally, I run single sided wool pad. Centripetal force Weight reduction.
The Makita is probably slightly heavier, that’s why I always liked the Dewalt in the past. We have run the Rupes rotary, it’s light as a feather but the torque is not all there. Heard they don’t last very long for marine detailing but it’s quite a cool machine
@@curtisholick3135 I use the Makita daily in my business and have tried the Rupes, I found the Rupes very easy to stall under medium/heavy pressure
I prefer the Makita myself, mainly because of the better torque. I can make the Dewalt stall when heavy cutting whereas I've never been able to stall the Makita. Even though all 3 of my Makitas have died at the 3-5 month mark, there's a warranty repair centre not far from me and the service is good. I don't think I could use any other brand.
@@MikesMarineDetailing Great perspective! All of them died at 3-5 months… did they tell you what the problem was at the service center?
@@topdockpro They had a few ideas but nothing that could be said for certain. The first time, they said it was likely that I was using too small of a gauge of extension cord, starving the motor of power causing it to work too hard and overheat. So I bought a $400 10 gauge cord and a second machine and still had the same problem. Then they suggested it could be a supply issue (the wiring going to the outlet not being sufficient), or that I’m simply putting too much pressure on the machine. I think the problem was exasperated by heavy cutting on the lowest machine speed, which means the cooling fan is running at the least efficient speed. Of course, using Starke Level R there’s really no way around that. For context, I’m also 6’4 200 lbs and pretty athletic so I think my idea of medium pressure would be hard pressure to an average person (so my hard pressure is extra hard). It’s probably some combination of all these factors, and I’m still experimenting to see if I can fix the issue
@@MikesMarineDetailinghave you tried replacing the carbon brushes or at least checked them out? That’s always what happens to me after a few months so I just pop new ones in
@@holdenbaldassi3697 I did inspect the brushes, they looked fine and had lots of material left. One of the times at the service centre they gave me a whole new unit because there was so much damage that nothing was salvageable. So I think it’s a heat problem. When your brushes went out, did the rpms flutter and did it start arcing near the exhaust ports? Those are the symptoms on mine
What speed do you find best for each product? Great content by the way!
White vinegar is the best for mold ❤
Where do you get that little bucket of level r
@@alexbarden5532 marinedetailsupply.com
Awesome work, very impressed with your skills and as a boat guy with years of this kinda of work, I know nobody has an idea of the time put into this result
Thank you very much! Nobody understands 😅
Awesome
I use starbright liquid mold and mildew remover
Disaster? Pffft hardly 😂
What about the safety of the aquatic life?
You’re cleaning the seat not the waterline of the hull while it’s in the water. Aside from that. Ya can bet it’s some basic cleaner not concentrated. Otherwise gloves would be needed. Any little bit of that. That could get out into that volume of water. Isn’t enough to hurt much of anything
Should have done a before and after in the same video.
We are currently still detailing the boat
Ya what was that? Pool shock and dawn?
No, lol. Mold is bacteria, what removes bacteria?
@@topdockpro allot of things, that’s why he’s asking! I’m curious as well.

Thanks for tuning in!
After cleaning off all the gunk and minerals, does the ceramic still bead?
@@holdenbaldassi3697 No it does not bead. Gotta remember it was left for 2 years no wash or booster. It did fend off oxidation very well on the cockpit area. Gunnel caps needed a light sand. Hull just needs buffed
How much is those the small floating dock cost and where can i buy one? I need to buy one also
About $300 on Amazon. 6x5' solstice raft
Fire work gang! 🔥
Yes 🙌 the dream team
great tips, next time I do some rotary buffing u better bet I'm getting in those corners properly
Please do!
excellent videography
Thanks :)
Level-R is my go to heavy cut for all types of oxidation!
It’s good for minor oxidation and removing sanding scratches but if you have deep oxidation and the customer doesn’t want to pay for wet sanding your better off using ardex 600 or presta super cut.
@@holdenbaldassi3697agreed, 90% of the time boat doesn’t even need to be wet sanded, use super cut or super duty, followed by heavy cut from 3m or level r, and then finish it out with perfect it ex ac or mernzerna 400 on foam pad.
I do detail boats in california, i love starke level r but did you tried sea shield? Works really good. Also nano shop brand.
I will check it out. Didn’t know they had compounds
What brand did u use ??
Starke Yacht Care
@topdockpro thank u and very nice outcome
I use ammonia to neutralize acid
Never knew about that. Where you buying it from?

Dude try Miracle Mist boat and RV mold and mildew remover found at Walmart in the RV and boat isle, you will be amazed at how little you will have to use to reach a spotless mold and mildewed surface.
Didn’t know about it!
I have problems with very first step, spraying enrire boat. I live off grid with no power or water. Continue, I'll see what I can do!you don't know what kind of luxury being about to spray with force for so long you have it!
Haha that’s crazy!
Dumb
This works wonders. I purchased a gallon and my boat looks new again.
Awesome! Glad it worked for your boat
This mold remover is the best thing ever! I have had my boat for 4 years and when I bought it, there was already mold, today I’m cleaning my boat to put it for sale and used this stuff and then sprayed another seat and then turned and looked at the first seat and I was shocked! It was almost all gone within like 30 seconds! I let it sit for another minute and it was amazing! After two applications on the worst seat it was perfect! All mold gone! I had bought the small bottle and had a tiny bit left after doing my entire pontoon boat. This is bleach based as you can smell the bleach when spraying…you might could just dilute bleach and it might be the same thing…not sure… My carpet was perfectly fine with the solution having bleach… After cleaning the mold I washed with soap and water and then used Babes Seat Conditioner. Before using this I’ve tried kitchen cleaner, tough stuff, soap…nothing worked.
Yes it is the best thing ever! Glad it worked for your boat :)
What product/pad would you recommend for very light oxidation in spots but I can also use on the rest of the boat to shine her up before ceramic application? Boat is 2009 malibu with around 80-100hrs for reference.
Using gtechniq for coating! Unless you talk me into repel pro😬
Starke Elevate and the Starke $ Pad
@@topdockpro great thanks for that, I was thinking of using the new finish r. Do you have any experience with it yet?
@@zacharysanchez4375 Yeah I thought it was great at first… Elevate is better
@@topdockpro okay cool, and I should be able to use wool/micro fiber and then a foam pad with the elevate to polish her up? Just going to single stage the white and most likely two stage the navy blue it has.
If I was to use the triple p on my 2009 malibu wakesetter. Would it help shine up the blue/ white what I think is gel coat? I’m planning on using Gtechniq marine coating base and top. Please let me know what you think🙏🏼
There’s tiny bits of oxidation going on but nothing too crazy. I was planning on trying out the triple p with rupes yellow pads on a da!
Triple P can’t handle any sort of oxidation, it has no grit. You should use a polish like Elevate beforehand
I’ve been trying the dry sanding process lately also. I’ve found out what saves me the most is air compressor to clean out machine and pads.
I’ve heard that’s like the best way to do it! Good job 👍
Why didn't you just compound it
Simple, too oxidized. Short term solution to a long term problem
won't the spray from running the outboards cover the cowlings with waterspots? I don't know on this particular coating, but ceramics are more vulnerable to water spots and a polymer sealant + durable wax would be better?
Yes, that’s why you clean the boat regularly. Of course if you let it sit for months it may start to etch in the coating. But even a WSP will remove it. Ceramic offers far better UV protection than a sealant / wax
Don't need to be cleaned with alcohol before using protection on hull?
Doesn’t have to be if it’s strip washed prior to polymer application. On ceramics yes, it should be alcohol prepped
Hi, could I get a job with you in November for the first days? I lm from Michigan , but in November, I'll move it for Fort Myers
We don’t really hire short-term work like that
Thank you, appreciate the clear and honest explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
@@topdockprohi is it like a milky color I got it off eBay and looks like was open wasn’t sure how it looks and also was in heat left so was on top of sprayer idk if that’s good but got it cheap so took it but wasn’t sure of then two things if it will still work good ty
@@lisatheobald5836 yes it is a white milky color
@@topdockprothanks you do u know if it’s ok to be left in the heat or shouldn’t be stored in heat
@@lisatheobald5836 I don’t think it matters if it’s in the heat for a few days. But generally store at room temperature. I wouldn’t let it sit out in the sun
Will it work on acrylic painting?
Possibly, no promises 😬
You really went cheap on the spray bottle. LOL!
I did 😭 not the best one out there
interesting, never seen that rotational pressure spray like that before
Honestly you can’t even notice it in real life. Just picks it up on the camera
Will the acid hurt your boat trailer?
It may cause some discoloration. Always wet the trailer before you spray the acid or throw a tarp on to keep the acid off
What is your opinion vs Mequiars? I have Mequiars heavy oxidation but havent applied it yet.
In my opinion it sucks. There are much better product lineups out there. Starke Yacht Care, 3M, & Presta
Awesome stuff
Thanks! 👍
I recently grabbed some level R and when I opened it up it was super thick! Is that common for level R? I was running 3m heavy cut.
Yes that’s Level R!
What do you recommend on the rpms?
What do you think about Marine 31 w/ sun protection?
No not a fan
Wait can u tell me how fast that can go cause I have a 300hp same boat Single engine
It’s not my boat but the client said it goes 55 and cruises best around 32
