It seems to me that a system where people are guaranteed a chance to move to a higher floor, with those in higher floors having the move down, regular intervals is more fair than a system that actively tries to keep you on whatever "floor" you happen to be born in.
The metaphor doesn't work exactly like that though. Everyone in the prison is living through hell, regardless of what floor they're on. They can never see the sun or any human beings besides their cell mate and a few inconsistent people above and below them, they can't watch tv or read books or make art (unless they happened to bring one of those things with them, and the one guy who brought a book seriously regrets it). It's a prison at the end of the day, one far more unethical than most modern prisons with the exception of solitary confinement. The only privilege they ever get access to is food security. Even then, they're given a few minutes to stuff their face every day. It's not a healthy or dignified way to eat. And this tiny fraction of privilege is something they only sometimes have access to, but they're constantly aware they won't always have access to it. Everyone at the top knows they are going to be on the bottom again. Lots of people kill themselves at the top because of this dread. I actually think that's a pretty accurate metaphor for the underclass of society. It's hell for everyone, but every once in a while you get a tiny amount of privilege thrown your way and you're incentivized to use it to fuck over everyone else. And in a short period of time, you won't even have that privilege anymore.

I have nobody to share how delightful the moment is when the protagonist and his cellmate are in a bonding montage and finish it with nude yoga. So I opened up this video just to comment that it's pretty delightful. Gonna go back to watching.
The old dude would earn nothing by killing the protagonist, keeping him alive to eat him was his best choice. I'd argue that long, incredibly painful torture is far worse than just killing someone too, so I don't see how doing that is anything positive. Other than that I enjoyed the video.
Could you do Cube in a future movie? I really love the original film's insistence on refusing to explain the existence of the Cube. The sequels were kinda ruined by trying to give a 'why' to it.

Trying not to be politicize? The title's making my dyslexia hurt.
Yeah the mysteriousness of it is very creepy. I've only ever watched the first one.
@@bravetherainbow i am begging you: Never ruin that purity.
@@malcolmcampbell3912 it's a bit like The Matrix hahaha
I literally don’t even need to watch the video, cause this was my goddamn struggle listening to every review ever find some fucking way to not say “wealth accumulation.” But I’m going to watch it anyway cause I appreciate it
Damn, I just watched it from this entirely apolitical recommendation, that is a film and a half, jesus
best video you made man.. for a movie Ive never seen.
Laughed so hard when the elevator music kicked in in the end 🎶🎧😉🤣
Movie sounds neat. We should systematize its message in an ideology or something and call it Platform-ism. Might catch up.
I guess we should also note, the director said the portion involving the redistribution of food was specifically a reference to socialism (one I personally don't agree with) but one that was a conscious choice.
can't avoid the politics in this, brother.
its pretty damn heavy handed-
and true to life.
This movie was a liiitle rough for me but I stuck with it because I really loved the way the metaphor (not at all subtle but still) came across. Ultimately enjoyed it. Really excited to see a scaredy cats about it!!!
Ooh ooh an exploration of the monstrous feminine in "The Wretched" !!!!
I love this movie, glad you went over it!
Deceptively simple premise, yeah yeah, critique of capitalism, blah blah blah, but a MOVIE you say?
There's a lot of underlying message on that one. Like how cannibalism is used to represent exploitation. And how the protagonist is always rewarded with being moved to the upper levels after partaking on it. And how you can't really screw with the upper levels.
I agree with you politically, which means either we're both wrong, possible screwed, or there are more folks with less access to media that agree. Most people I've slept next to outside definitely do. Also, face pooping, fun stuff, 10/10.
Trickle-Down Economics: The Movie
Best one yet! ♥♥♥ To echo some other comments, PLEASE DO A SERIES ON THE CUBE SERIES! Thank you :)
I know YourMovieSucks hated this film because he doesn't understand why can't people just share the food there's enough for everyone...
Did... Did he watch it?
YMS hates all movies with an 'agenda'...so that might show you his taste
fuuuuuck, dude you made this movie seem way more interesting and thoughtful than the directors did. i would watch a thought-slime version of this plot
i can't believe i thought about asking if youre going to do a video on Cube and then you just up and mentioned that masterpiece of a movie
That sounds really interesting, thank you!
This is my second favourite Scaredy Cats video (after basket case)
I loved this movie it hasn’t really left me since I watched it.
Hey man, we're more like 2 percent of a percent
I believe it was 3.5 percent of a percent.
