Through babies and pandemic we've been working on this beautiful building for more than two years (with help from experts!) and we're very excited to show you what we've done so far. We'll tell you the history of this fascinating building, the ethos behind our renovations, and what we hope to achieve next!

The coach house is a beautiful building. Your renovations have been sensitive to its history and yet you have brought it into our time with important comforts like heating that does not intrude visually. Nicely done! And, I vote for the higher paneling.

Thank you so much for this amazing tour of the Coach House, it is so beautiful and you have done an amazing job on it!! The detail is wonderful and so glad to see that you kept all of the history intact! Loved seeing all the before pictures on how it was all taken apart and put back together....wonderful!! The two of you are so interesting and explain everything so well...I truly love listening to you both. Thank you and as always, look forward to hearing more. So glad your back! What a beautiful job you did with the the Coach House & took the time to save it what a stunning building! I love that you made it two big rooms and not a bunch of crammed ones! Also glad you sourced out your work to people who know & care about the history of the building & not rushed just slapping anything on! Well done Marc & Amy by the way look beautiful pregnant Amy❤️🇨🇦

My vote is to make the wall panelling higher than the bed frame - I find that a lower wall panelling is more typically used in a colonial style of room decor. Also, (I know you didn't ask) simple wrought iron bed frames would look wonderful in your beautiful rooms.

So admiring your sensitive reno-conserva-preservation ethos. The reuse of lovely wood furnishings reminds me of restoration of historic building we did in our colonial community, across the sea. Your family is lovely, with your dear little boy crawling up and down, from Mama to Papa, so endearing. All best to you in your journey.

I vote higher wall panels. The room has high ceilings and if there is a bed in front it needs to project well above the headboard. The work so far is exceptional. I love the attention you give to the preservation of the features. It is going to serve the building well for the next few centuries.

The coach house before and after pictures reflect all the hard work that went into restoring this historic building. The renovations look stunning already. Can't wait to see how it looks finished. I think the wood paneling needs to be higher rather than lower. It will appear more luxurious with the higher panel. Praying you get it done before the baby come. Clement is such a well behaved cutie pie 😍😘

You have done an amazing job on the coach house. For the bed room paint I would try and match two colours from the stone work ,lighter colour on plaster board and medium colour on the panels. The panel height I would match up to the panel on the doors ,so it all lines up. Just a thought.

just a lovely vlog; thankyou. we renovated a barn and put the plugs in the floor and wiring through the pointing with spots which are operated remotely so we didn't have to put in switches and leads on the walls. Lower panelling... higher is reminiscent of the 1920's? On the other hand.. if it was panelled to the ceiling - that would be totally in keeping with the age of the building.. The pinky white you would love is Little Greene's China Clay Distemper.. available in France or by post.. I have it everywhere and it covers anything with a lovely lime softness - but you have probably already seen it..

Love the introduction sequence, really worked the imagination.
What I find astonishing is the amount of wealth the past owners must of had.
The staffing that was involved and where they accumulated their wealth- sugar plantations in the French Caribbean ? Slave trade ? Trade with the Ottoman Empire?
    Amazing
    And then
Suddenly the World Wars and everything came to a complete halt
Even after the French Revolution, French Aristocracy apparently continued…🧐
Interesting and Loved the Carriage House - going to be amazing
    Thank you for sharing 🙂.

I think the coach house is a lovely building and will be very cozy for the winter. In my humble opinion, I would keep those walls plain and painted in a light colour. This would make the room feel a lot lighter and it would be brighter in the winter months as the sun reflects off of it. You have so many wonderful historical features in the rooms that it would allow them to shine and be the feature. Keeping it simple would also be cheaper and faster. It will look lovely any way that you do it. Thank you for sharing. Jean

I'd suggest the lower wood panels to reduce the plaster board could be approx a metre high similar to a Dado rail height, to protect soft furnishings when pushed against the wall. Also you could cover plywood panels in pattern material and fix to the wall above ...

    🌞 Hi Amy and Mark
We loved your beautiful newly renovated cottage. It's quite charming! Just wanted to tell you the beautiful shelf that you have in the middle downstairs in the cottage that you said was used in a laundry mat, I more think its original use was a bakers rack that was invented in the 17th century. It will be beautiful in your kitchen for kitchen decor and it's quite rare as it has the iron decor on the side of it. Most of them are more decorated with wood trimmings.
    Bye for now.

Hello! Thanks for your sweet comments! I think the sound (or maybe Marc’s accent) mustn’t have been completely clear as we’ve known since we bought it that it’s definitely from a bakery - it has gorgeous wheat motifs on it and even the name of the original bakery in Lyon - that’s one of the reasons we loved it! 😊
