Nope. They did not make it out of the collector base. I called it back then when EA got Bioware that they were going to mess up a good company. ME3, although a good game is much different than the previous games. Tacked on multiplayer, less dialogue choices, shitty frostbite engine, even less for gameplay, etc. Good games but Bioware were making 9/10s and GOTYs before EA.

@16Notepads I'm glad to hear that. That said, I'm guessing I know where your hesitation toward unions in general, considering how comprehensive and effective anti-union propaganda has been in the US over decades. As I understand, companies basically represent unions as the worst-case-scenario, focusing only on perceived negatives, spun to make it seem like they are a terrible thing for workers and play on the fact that people like to think they are better than each other (e.g. the whole "unions allow people to be lazy and those lazy people take advantage of the hardworking ones" trope - points like this I'm sure fail to look at more than one example of a union or address any factor other than throwing out the easily swallow-able character judgment of 'lazy' people who are 'freeloaders').

I think Joe made a fair point here though where EA is like "We gave you 7 years to work on this, you had more than enough time" and it makes me kinda worry for future EA games even more cause the next time an EA game is rushed and someone calls them out on it they can so easily go "Well we didn't rush Anthem and look what happened to that game." I feel like Anthem just solidified that EA will never learn it's lesson and every developer they own is doomed.

When an engine requires “hacking around” it or problems you’re having with it have no solutions just “workarounds”, it’s not the right engine for your project
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (which was ultimately rebranded as Final Fantasy XV) had the same problem: the game was envisioned as an open-world game, but Square Enix insisted that the team use Crystal Tools: a terrible, unfinished engine that was only made for linear games. They spent 7 years just making workarounds, and the team was exhausted and fretful. The game was rebranded and moved to the PS4, so Square Enix insisted the game be made using their new in-house engine: Luminous, which was also unfinished, and the problems began all over again (though at least that engine could handle making an open-world game).

“Oh I made plenty of mistakes. I was just smart enough to trust the people working under me even if they didn’t have a fancy degree and to take their feedback into consideration every time. The reason why I never made a mistake after the fact is that the labourers below me helped catch all my mistakes before it became a problem.”

@Burst Your Bubble it's not that simple and shows just how ignorant you are. The amount of pressure and work that goes into actually being a dev and making a game is rediculous enough. When everything is working against you, your job is on the line, leadership is jerking themselves on and the thing you poured so much time into is turning out to be terrible due to mismanagement by others of course you're going to be stressed. Dont downplay others struggles.
@Burst Your Bubble Well, they have stress because they work for weeks or months and some dipshit director throws it all away and tells them to start from scratch while the deadline approaches fast.

They focused on FIFA?, I thought they just copied and pasted it every year and slapped some random dude on the front of the box.
The article said in that year FIFA needed to switch to use Frositbite, so EA redeployed BioWare’ developers who had frostbite experience to the FIFA studio.
@@linlucy733 Thats true but I mean its FIFA, you dont need to move it to the frostbite engine to make the grass look greener. You would like to think they would focus on a more important game than a game thats barely changed since the early 2000's
@@linlucy733 and yet there's absolutely zero difference in the game in fact they made it worse

Meh, EA didn't quite give 'em alot of time to work.
They gave us 2 months to do a Vietnam war project and I did it in 1 hour the night before. I just printed a few images, did a PowerPoint, pledgerized the heck out of it, and played ‘fortunate son’ in class.. done! Got a cool 70 grade for no effort whatsoever and that was a win in my book back then.

Well... comparing DA2 to DAO... Then comparing Inquisition to DA2...
Inq story: a rehash of DA2. Mage v Templar. Was it an aftermath of the situation? Yes, but it still was MvT, and nothing in the game even remotely tries to solve that.
Characters: somehow a perversion of DA2... see Varic... See the Hero of Ferelden, see Hawke...
Villains: Are you fucking kidding me that DA2 had the same dude in a DLC and somehow did the battle far better than Inquisition?
"Romancing": Somehow Inquisition romance options make fucking your sister in DA2 a viable and sought-after option.
The only redeeming quality of Inquisition was the Dragon fights, they were the most memorable and rewarding fights, especially on the Nightmare difficulty. Yet, for all the awesomeness the fights poured, one still recalls the absolute depravity they had to go through to achieve it. The next botched major release will be Dragon Age 4, RIP Dragon Age ☹
@Dante Any company large can make an epic cinematic and any large company can make a good demo. Anthem's E3 2017 demo looked great but... The demo was literally the game, what you saw was all that there had been developed. You can't say anything is certain until the full release, not even betas can be 100% trusted, just look at the BF2 beta.
@Dante Only time will tell.
whose going to buy it?
@Dante considering EA (and gamers, but that's for another comment) shat on Respawn through both Titanfall games, it's not hard to see they're gonna squeeze their power with these talented devs to its fullest worth
It's really ironic one of the best features of Anthem (the flying) is there thanks to Patrick the EA ex-CEO.
@@ishaankalani Not really, I haven't heard the current CEO of EA say or do anything controversial ... yet.
As for Patrick, he is the one who said that BF5 critics are "uneducated", that said his reaction to the early demo of Anthem and reaction to it after adding flight back shows he wasn't all bad, he surely had a gamer in him somewhere that understands what is fun and what isn't, probably buried deep under layers of CEO clout.
Patrick is responsible for all this "live service" crap
@@timtams5283 wouldn't be so sure about that, EA isn't the only company doing this, it has been going on for a while even before the term was officially coined.
Let's be honest, without flight Anthem is nothing unique or special, imo without flight Anthem would be dead already but flying around is just to damn fun.
@@TonioTyme Partially agree, but it's not just the flying, it's the whole traversal package, specially the Ranger and Interceptor, being able to switch between dodging, jumping, hovering and flying all so quickly and smoothly even while fighting and attacking enemies just feels very good.
Funny how you say that they pulled devs from this game to work on Fifa. Fifa has been the same game with a different number on the end of it for a decade.
It's all about the $$$$$$
FIFA needed help moving to the Frostbite engine.
It's like how they pulled Mass Effect 1 and 2 writer from Mass effect 3 to work on the online star wars game which cause ME3 story to not make fucking sense
Apparently they pulled devs with Frostbite experience to work on Fifa because people on the Fifa team lacked much experience with the engine. This of course further hurt Anthem.
Yea fifa makes almost a billion dollars every year
7 years!?!? Star Citizen devs would be proud.
Nah, Star Citizen dev's think Bioware are pussies. Star Citizen will be released in 2350, 10 years after ACTUAL intergalactic starship travel is ended by the invention of the teleporter.
