The collaboration between Madonna and David Foster was amazing that produced this beautiful, bittersweet, emotionally empowering ballad. As a sequel to Take A Bow, it resonates with women who’s trapped in an abusive, unhappy relationship or has suffered rejection…to finally get the courage and confidence to leave, survive and find a happier fate. Scottish singer Susan Boyle was profoundly inspired by this song that she made it her personal anthem as she struggled early in her music career after she experienced rejection after rejection during auditions in singing contests/shows. She included a cover of this song in her debut album.
When the idea of working with Madonna was first broached with Foster, he was not confident that she’d collaborate with him since he initially thought that his music may not be “hip enough for her”. They met for the first time in NYC over dinner to feel each other out, and Foster revealed, he was completely awed by her charisma and wit. After their collaboration, he praised Madonna’s work ethic, he said “I liked the whole experience of working with her-the punctuality, the professionalism and the sexiness..”

You can really hear and feel all the power and strength of confidence that she has learned and part's of her voice is that she has just discovered during her first every vocal lessons with Joan Lader. Eventually being successful in winning the role of Eva Peron meant that she had to learn how to sing and use her voice in musical theatre style and be able to use her voice quietly when needed and powerful when required...see Rainbow High if you want to hear how strong and powerful she was vocally. ❤️❤️🎶🎶🎵🎵

The drums in the song "You'll See" have always enchanted me, since the day I heard it on the radio. It's a very strong ballad, "Live To Tell" style. I remember that no one expected a sequel to Take a Bow, and not even with the same bullfighter.

One of my all-time favourite Madonna songs ♥️ The lyrics are so blunt and impactful, while the latin instrumentation melts your heart. Be sure to check out the Spanish version called “Verás”, she sounds incredible singing in Spanish ☺️

Such a declaration of independence and self love! Definitely a go to song after a breakup, it is so full of strength and self determination. It is so beautifully done, that it is clear that Madonna has personally been there. Gorgeous vocals by a beautiful lady. Great reaction by two beautiful ladies!!

OMG this song always makes me teary🥺 Such a beautiful and empowering song! Madonna has such a way with words in her lyrics ⭐️ She looks STUNNING in this video and sounds amazing. I remember Shirley Bassey covered this song and a UK artist Susan Boyle who was on Britain’s Got Talent. She recorded this right after the Evita soundtrack so her vocals were in peak form (Evita would be released around a year afterward ) Just stunning video as well.

Girls in this little era, Madonna has done some really nice interviews, I'd like to point out some of them
Taking this journey with you, makes me realize what a truly diverse artist she is. From Holiday to Papa Dont Preach to Like A Prayer to Vogue to Rain to Erotica to this and everything in between. And she switched things up even more later in the 90s with Musical, more Alternative, Experimental Pop and many other things. She truly has the most incredible discography, ive ever witnessed. Is there a genre she cant do?

I remember she said in an interview at this time that she used this record and recording session to practice the vocals techniques that she was learning for the role of Evita.

Love this song so much, even more than "Take a Bow." There was another video for another song from this album, "I Want You," which was also included on a Marvin Gaye tribute album. The song and video are great so don't miss it!
She did this on the Drowned World tour on select dates. It wasn’t included on the dvd. It’s difficult to find an HQ of it but I highly recommend listening to it live. Hauntingly beautiful and she sounded AMAZING!
She sounds amazing, but the instrumentation they used during the DWT is an basic and boring drum beat.

You will notice that Madonna rarely has love songs like “we split up and now I’m sad”. It’s usually “we split up and I’m gonna be strong and make it through”. The Spanish version of this song is even stronger in this sense, it goes like “soon you will see that I don’t need anyone else, I’m gonna make it, I’m gonna go on. I’m doing this for myself, it’ll be my personal glory that neither you nor anyone else can take it from me”. The Spanish version has a video as well, but it’s the same as this one with shots of Madonna in the studio. Fun fact: she recorded the vocals for the Spanish version in Emilio Estefan Jr’s studio, husband of Gloria Estefan ☺️ Madonna never sang this song live outside of tours, she did a lip sync on TOTP, and sang this one live in selected dates of the Drowned World Tour

As many of my mates here, I love the song, but in that moment, as part of the “something for remember”’ s ballads compilation; I strongly recommend you not just visit the other music videos as “Love don’t live here anymore “ and “I want you”, but also listening to the “One more chance” song because is part of the songs she made to prepare her path to Evita’s era. Remember in the Take A Bow video, he played with her emotions and she was in anguish. In this video, she has the strength to leave him and now he has regret and is the one left in anguish.
Actually that's not accurate. She wasn't pregnant with Lourdes yet. This video was premiered on November 1995, and Lourdes was born on October 1996, meaning Madonna got pregnant with Lourdes 4 months after this video. She actually got pregnant with Lourdes when she was already filming Evita, in February 1996.

Hey ladies! To keep chronology you should have reacted to the brilliant "I want you" feat. Massive Attack before "You'll see", so please, don't omit that video! Even though Madonna did not write "I want you" it has always felt it was in fact a mid-chapter of the "Take a bow"/"You'll see" story, where she deals with the break up before she can reclaim her strength. PS- Brenda, something tells me you will love M's hairstyle in "I want you" ;)

I highly recommend when reacting to Don’t Cry For Me Argentina- instead of the live version, I’d watch the remix version because the dance mix is the version radio stations played Also don’t forget to react to Buenos Aires -the dance mix because it was the one that did really good on the dance chart , another suitcase in another hall was an international single so it did chart outside of the U.S.
