I believe this reply you got is a bit behind the currently applied rules. As utterly frustrating it all is, I think you should simply apply again. You're dealing with a bureaucracy that is ALWAYS difficult to deal with. I remember once having to do what you are doing now from The Netherlands, and some woman at a Dutch agency rolling her eyes at me and saying, "Australia? Good luck with that, they're stupid!" That was in 2006, and I don't know what made her say that, but nothing much has changed it seems. You have to be relentless, and on top of that we don't exactly have the most clued-in government on the planet right now!
I’m so sorry for the bad news. I know you wanted to see your family and I know Isabelle is disappointed. But stay optimistic. Yes Australia has had some pretty stupid quarantine laws, but hopefully they, as well as rest of world, will relax those laws soon. If not, make your way to Texas. You’re welcome to join my family and stay with us. You are a beautiful, loving couple.
Aww thanks Jack. Love the southern hospitality. Fortunately now in the new year the rules are relaxing around Australia. So fingers crossed we’ll be arriving soon 🙌🏼
I’m so so sorry and my heart is breaking for you both. The problem is that they have the control and it seems absolutely wrong to continue rejecting you with so much physical evidence. I’m continuing to hope for the best and sometimes you’ve to continue when you feel all hope is lost. I never comment, but I lost my human and the best friend and my amazing husband who just had a clean bill of health. I basically forced him to go get a stress test and bloodwork and he came back crazy healthy. In 35 years only two Hospital Er visits Motorcycle wreck where he broke his collarbone bone and he would open cans with a knife while owning several can openers and cut the heck out of his hand and many stitches later. He was a builder and I saw him at home at lunch and two hours later had a massive heart attack at work and died. How can I ever be mad at him? He was the most beautiful and loving human and my heart is broken, but I will never let him down and know that there are people who aren’t given the gift I was given. Sorry to share devastating news, but in the end it will work out and you might be better with having to take this difficult journey. Im sitting here with our two ginormous dogs and all they have is me. Im grateful because they have and continue to give me purpose. Know I cried along with you and I swear I’ve never put all this out there. Please please don’t troll me. I do not need sympathy and I’m not looking for anyone to feel sorry, I’m only wanting you to know that there is always a rainbow somewhere. I’m sending love from the North North Georgia Mountains. I know TMI , but I do have two huge dogs and will protect them at any cost.
My condolences for your lost. AS you go forward remember all the good times they will bring you some comfort. They say it gets better but I don't Know.
What a beautiful place to enjoy. Praying all works out and you'll have time with family again soon. It's a rough one being separated for a long time from those we love.
I know I would personally love to see you take the Micronesia route... go north to get out of the hurricane zone instead of going south to NZ and Aus like everyone else... I don't know of any UA-camrs who have shown the world that sailing route! It is definitely less traveled but is said to be spectacular. "North over Solomon's and Papua New Guinea through the Micronesian islands approaching the Philippines from the east, allowing exploration of the Philippines before heading back south through Indonesia approaching Australia from the north with a stop along the way at Raja Ampat for good measure!" It would be a great journey! This route not only gets you out of hurricane danger but essentially can provide a longer route back to Australia allowing time for Australia to ease restrictions. Fair winds and following seas dear friends!
As an Australian, I understand the tears but the way around all this has been with them for a long time; formalise that wonderful relationship in a way the fulfils the meaning of that relationship as well as the legal measure of it. Harsh times internationally- but not without solution. But these restrictions have bitten others too with people having to sail in single-handed, including me. No moans here, just acceptance of the inns as they are and working through them; might perish at sea but nobody really cares. About the situation, very much reaping what is sowed; the solution has been there for them for ages.
@@ianb4801 What are you trying to say? Get married? That's so 1800'ish thinking. She's absolutely right saying providing evidence of the relationship that's worth 10 marriage certificates. It's utter bullshit how the immigration is reacting. In certain things Australia is still a 3rd world country. Fellow Scandinavian commenting
@@smulismuli7976 just saying it as is. This is like war time where the norm doesn’t stack up any more. There are ways of documenting a relationship that pass muster - marriage is one of them. From a pragmatic view, all this difficulty was predictable and avoidable. Maybe they had no intention to stay together always, although it seems the opposite. But in these harsh Covid times, just like war time, thinking just has to adjust, as tough as that might seem. So yes, getting married, be that religious or common-law, was an option always there - but it is time dependent. But just sailing on, expecting magic to occur, just hasn’t worked for them.
@@ianb4801 I've been to Australia way before covid times. The border control people were total dicks. I love Australian people for their easygoing attitude and have actually dated one, had colleagues from Australia and all that generally you guys are the most genuine and easy to deal with people of all. But it seems there's deeply ingrained problem on the immigration side of things tho. And I will leave it at that
The main problem seems to be that "the system" fails to qualify what's genuine and what's not, and the same idiot hard core rules are are applied no matter what the situation is. That's 1950's...every case is different and needs to be evaluated based on given facts...not some marriage certificate which doesn't mean anything in the end of the day
Watching the recent news reports from Australia and New Zealand, it seems there must be some sort of Antipodean school for bureaucrats run by the Stasi!
Also being an electrician it has been endless hassling from other trades about sparkies not being able to tie knots. I also have gone out of my way to learn to tie knots rather than tie lots.
Swedish, and no, not during the COVID restrictions. Things are changing at the end of this month, so they might have better luck in a couple of weeks time if they've not already arrived.
Your food segments are wonderful, looking delicious, resolving the visa issue is hard. If you guys got married at the Australian Consulate in Fiji would that make it possible for Isabelle to enter Australia? In common law you are arguably already married.

I'm so sorry this has to be extremely hard. But when you finally are allowed to go home it will be even more joyous. If you were married would it make a difference on being able to enter the country. A dear friend from America who has both American and Malaysian citizenship met and married an Australian man on her visit to Australia two years ago . They hired an immigration attorney and after months of waiting got her temporary visa changed to a permanent visa and the only reason the government allowed her permanent visa was because they were married . She's now working with the attorney to get her Australian citizenship so they can travel to Malaysia and the state's without all the problems with immigration. We will keep you both in our daily prayers that this situation will be decided in your favor and you will be allowed into Australia. Good luck God bless and try to let the sadness go and enjoy all the beauty around you.
This is what happens when you have tyrannical, power obsessed governments. They are supposed to work and support for the people but have turned the tables on citizens and taken their rights because they let them! Governments produce NOTHING, the people are the one's paying taxes and producing goods and services. The way the Australian government (and others including the U.S.) have turned on their citizens is disgusting.
I think it is Australia's loss but looking at how dictatorial they were with Covid regulations I would gladly give it a miss and get Kieran's rellies to come to you and then secure your boat and both go home to your family. Love them and spoil them all you can to make up for the time you have missed. It's a bit extreme but you could always consider marrying the man, even if he is an Aussie. :) Anyone can see what you mean to each other which is half the reason I watch your videos and the other reason is, to quote from Plucky..."Nothing but quality here people".
There will be a change in government soon I hope, and get rid of this inept lot, particularly the Home Affair minister (And the godless, heartless Prime Minster. No guaranties about the value of the next lot though! My guess is it can't be worse.....
Hi guys you probably have tried already but see if your local member can lend a hand otherwise put a ring on that lovely young ladies hand, good luck our government should be ashamed
As an immigrant a few times around myself, I can say that maybe you don’t need to enter a country that feels so entitled to reject somebody of such low risk for becoming a burden on their high society. Terrible news, but … you guys will be ok.
@@craigme2583 What are you talking about? You will never need to report to any other immigration official again. Welcome to the USA.
This made me really sad that Isabelle can’t enter Australia, you are a beautiful couple .The world is a strange place at the moment . But I do wish the British government had the same stance as their Australian counterparts on who they let in . I hope you find a suitable alternative. Can’t wait to the next episode.
Going through immigration is a horrible thing.
I’m so sorry that Isabelle got bad news. I like that girl.
Cheers Mike, we like you!
Damn bureaucrats, you had me shed a tear for you guys. Don’t give up. Love your channel.
In 35 years only two Hospital Er visits
Motorcycle wreck where he broke his collarbone bone and he would open cans with a knife while owning several can openers and cut the heck out of his hand and many stitches later.
They say it gets better but I don't Know.
you give me so much hope with your lifestyle i hope your dreams to go back to the aussies come true
Maik, thing have very much improved this year. We’ll looking to enter Australia soon. Thanks for the comment 🙌🏼
If you get married will that take care of the problem? All the best to you both and lots of love 💘 and hugs and hope!
What a beautiful place to enjoy. Praying all works out and you'll have time with family again soon. It's a rough one being separated for a long time from those we love.
Paul you said it perfectly! Fortunately we made arrangements to see family soon after this video.
@@SailingMerewether I'm very happy to hear this wonderful news!
Sailing Hilma (from Sweden) went that way to the north and west.
Pretty sure Florence went that way..
Sometimes the universe will change your Journey. She will get in. xxx
As an Australian iam ashamed of the lack of empathy by government agencies to an obvious loving long-term relationship!!!
That's 1950's...every case is different and needs to be evaluated based on given facts...not some marriage certificate which doesn't mean anything in the end of the day
Классный выпуск!!! 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Hola Mates! I’m sorry Isabelle... Keep The Faith my Dear... Sometimes life is Hard... Love&Peace too you Both... 😊
My heart goes out to you Isabelle this blood coved crap has rippled people apart it needs to really come to an end now 💪💪❤️
Watching the recent news reports from Australia and New Zealand, it seems there must be some sort of Antipodean school for bureaucrats run by the Stasi!
So sorry for you both..
Hopefully, after COVID abates, you will be able to fly back home. I am pulling for you.
The laws have finally relaxed a lot this year. Isabelle has an approved visa and now doesn't need a travel exemption. We're both very happy about it
Mean while at the border wall here in the us well
Also being an electrician it has been endless hassling from other trades about sparkies not being able to tie knots. I also have gone out of my way to learn to tie knots rather than tie lots.
Hahaha the other trades are just jealous of us sparkies 😊
That's too bad. What passport does Isabel have; isn't there some kind of reciprocal arrangement? Cheers.
Or just get married anywhere and present the legally-binding marriage certificate at the Consulate.
That looks like a great book joint the club on remembering the knots would love to know the name
So sorry - yup Australia has stuffed it up big time..my thoughts are with you..
Same thing as before, just the other way round. Still a bummer, though.😥😥✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
We know how you feel. 🙁 Hopefully you will both be allowed in, together, soon. All the best from Rick and Carolyn.
Thanks for the comment Rick and Carolyn, we’ve been approved to be allowed the enter in just the last week. So we’re very happy
@@SailingMerewether Ah, good news. We were hoping that would be the case. Enjoy seeing and meeting family and making up for a missed Christmas. Covid has been a bugger to cope with. More and more of the folk Carolyn and I meet have a father or a mother or a younger relative who has died. This helps us keep a perspective that we’ve been fortunate. For you two, the good times are coming. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
So frustrating and disappointing. Considering how much evidence you have publicly available it’s just not fair. Another great video and this is one of the best channels on UA-cam, keep your heads up and hopefully it works out for you.
Wow, such a nice comment John. We really appreciate your words. fortunately the Australia has relaxed it's borders this year and we'll look to be heading that way as the year rolls on!
Lovely guys 💖 you deserve all the happiness in life ❤️
Thanks Amar!
I know the feeling here. I am married to a Mexican woman and I am American. She is home in Mexico for several months to keep her Visa status in good standing. And she might not be able to return. If not, I retire early and I'm a Mexican!!
the world is crazy at the moment.
But your love cannot be broken, take the next step and marry her. I pray for you guys
I feel your pain, I tried for over two years (pre pandemic) to get a visa from Australia Immigration, I got turned down numerous times, supplied countless documents & statements of intent, geez, we were trying to visit my wife's father in Perth just for 10 days as he's 86 & he won't last forever.
16 days ago I was finally granted a visa, so hopefully your luck changes soon & you can visit the folks
Sending good vibes & hugz 🤗🤗🤗

The rest of Aus haven't been able to enter WA for most of the pandemic either.
@@craigme2583 loving it - statedaddy (Mark McGowan) has kept us safe but needs to open up soon - we have not missed the tothersiders
Just merry her already!!
Get the family to fly to you. It's sunny there . Well this was a few months ago I guess
It is indeed extremely sunny in Fiji just about all year round haha. David we ended up booking a trip to our seperate countries not long after this video to see family. Thanks for watching legend
Stay strong, sky is the limit!
Bella.... I hope you don't mind me calling you Bella but my Granddaughter is named Isabella 1 of 8 plus 1 Great Grandchild and I am only 55 but anyway I love ❤ yall and I hope things have changed since December.
My goodness 😳 yall survived the Tsunami thank goodness because you let me know and I appreciate that.
I hope you get into conservative Australia 🇦🇺 🙏.

P.S. -If you only knew my situation! My ex-wives and children and grandchildren can't even discuss my situation and haven't been able to for 19 years and I don't blame them one bit and never have!
I just wanted to let someone else in the sailing community know more about me about me....
I am in a very weird situation 😳.
Pass it on and I love yall 💕
Thanks for your thoughts Floyd. My family calls me Bella as well. Things have changed and we’re looking to enter Australia soon. It was a scary moment when the Tsunami report came on but the Fijian reef system is very protective.
Our tyrannical government is no reflection on you Isabel. Stay strong and be thankful you both have a good means of escape in that boat from all the horrible things happening in this world at the moment.
keep on sailing, do another lap of the World, should be ok by then
It’s so cruel. There’s not a lot I can say to you guys except that, you’ve got each other. It must be so hard for you both not seeing family but for the moment at least you have beautiful locations to explore. I’m sure things will change this year as restrictions start to lift. Happy Valentines Day to you both❤️
Thanks David! Your comments are always lovey. We fortunately got approval for Isabelle to enter just last week so we’re very excited to continue our voyage across the pacific. Thanks for watching legend
@@SailingMerewether Hey guys that’s awesome news. You deserve it👍
Don’t give up, you will get there. Surely an embassy will help you!
Must be a older Video Australia has relaxed there over the top covid regulations now! Even tourist will be able to get in very soon.
End of February as I read things.
As sad as it is regarding the rejection...The delay in the video makes it a bit strange. Considering travel to all is open as of February 26th*
Delaying a video like this makes for good viewing and story telling.
She is your home. Find a way to keep you both happy. Maybe you family could meet you some place.
Jim we actually had some family fly up from Australia. Keep an eye on the next episode.
👍👍👍👍👍
There will be a change in government soon I hope, and get rid of this inept lot, particularly the Home Affair minister (And the godless, heartless Prime Minster. No guaranties about the value of the next lot though! My guess is it can't be worse.....
Thanks for your comment Daniel. We are very happy that things are changing now in 2022 🙌🏼
You have each other
Hi guys you probably have tried already but see if your local member can lend a hand otherwise put a ring on that lovely young ladies hand, good luck our government should be ashamed
🤗🤩✌
You know what you got to do man...💍
As an immigrant a few times around myself, I can say that maybe you don’t need to enter a country that feels so entitled to reject somebody of such low risk for becoming a burden on their high society. Terrible news, but … you guys will be ok.
Most countries are hard to enter these days. UK, EU, USA etc
@@craigme2583 What are you talking about? The USA you can just wander on in, present yourself to border patrol, then you are given money, shelter in a new location, and plane ride in the middle of the night to that location, free healthcare, an EBT card for your food, and a weekly stipend to live on. You will never need to report to any other immigration official again. Welcome to the USA.

Absence can be painful 😓
I just read that from 7th feb double vax international tourists can enter australia if obtain the right visa
Strange, other boaties are allowed into the country, contact the TV network.

Keep strong guys, our overbearing government will not and can not deny you forever.
Thanks Dave!
This made me really sad that Isabelle can’t enter Australia, you are a beautiful couple .The world is a strange place at the moment . But I do wish the British government had the same stance as their Australian counterparts on who they let in . I hope you find a suitable alternative. Can’t wait to the next episode.
Australias loss, methinks:( Hope it's resolved now.
Going through immigration is a horrible thing. We finally got accepted after 4.5 years of marriage and over 1000 pages of documents covering every part of our lives, financial, couples therapy, friends and family letters, over $10k. They tell us we had one of the "easier cases". Keep your chin up, good luck!
It's weird, because I know two Australians who've since married Americans and have had no problem getting their fiances over here. Maybe it depends on the individuals concerned?
The chart gives death at low tide.
Isabelle, never think your partner wants to be anywhere but with you. Just because Australia cannot see it does not prove it is anything less to him.
Stay strong.
Cheers Gavin
Hy guys Australian is opening her borders for forenagers just on the news BBCW
