Good Nz morning people. Aaaah the Society Islands, warmed by the ever present trade winds. They were the location of dusky maidens. Swaying palms, lagoons, the tamoure dancing, coconuts, beautiful beaches, trading schooners,,bronzed bodies, and then the 21st century arrived. Okay, not sure where I was going with that. Thanks again Kieran and Isabelle for uploading these episodes. I hope you realise how lucky you are. I'm sure you 😏 do. This 75yr old teenager is just plain jealous of you. Just stay there for as long as realistically possible. Loving these episodes. Until next time, stay safe. Atb from down here in EnZed.
Our historical instructor for this sailing adventure episode is the lovely Prof. Isabelle. Another entertaining and educational look at two young sailors as they struggle to get through one beautiful Polynesian Island after another. LOL! Love the Marea Temples and of course, that remarkable power pole. Stay groovy and stay safe.
Lovely video! Nice flowers, and a really impressive power pole :-)! History with Isabelle was great too! Great anchorages and nice to see sailing - even if it wasn't ideal!
Not sure if you have corrected the antenna issue yet but usually there are barrel connectors or couplers that can be purchased to extend allow two cables to be connected together. I’m sure availability is going to be an issue due to location but might be something to ask about when you find a place that sells equipment for the radio. It could save you a little money rather than having to purchase another very long line.
Agree. Just need to make sure the barrel connection is moisture proofed so that it doesn't form a "dry joint". Self-amalgamating tape is good for that, but not sure if it would be available out there. Also, the original cable might've gone just at one end or the other (or both) at the connectors - that's a common problem with coaxial cables, and especially in a marine environment where any exposed copper turns green in no time flat. Sometimes they get chafed, etc, and the outer sheath is worn through to the shield / braid, and then salt-laden moist air gets in an corrodes the braid, in which case that section of cable is ruined.
New motorcycle that runs on laughing gas! Yamahahahaha 🏍 I liked the power pole too! I didn’t know you are an electrician. I’m a retired one. Love you guys.
Everywhere that you go around the entire world, if you are on any road of any sort, the roadside "weeds" are mostly just invasive plants. The little ones with no smell were most likely exactly that. I looked up a couple for Nikki and Jason (The Wynns) in New Zealand. That is exactly what they were. But... much natural vegetation and wildlife where you are too. Thank you for another wonderful video. This is ANOTHER sailing channel that is undersubscribed and undervalued. I told Adam and Kiara (Millennial Falcon) that last week. Stay well and keep on sailing!
Hey guys it's been a while since I commented, but I haven't missed your episodes! You continue to kill it with great footage of your adventures and the history lessons! Still a big fan! How'bout it!!
Kieran, I share the affinity for power poles, substations, and electrical infrastructure. I have 📸 of installations from around the 🌎. Once it's in your blood you can't get rid of it. Beautifully framed, symmetrically sagged in runs of primary stretching for miles 😍. Runs of rigid metal conduit perfectly bent and spaced. Electrical control panels and metering installations. 🤯
Thank you again Isabella and your hubby, gosh I forgot his name. Keep on sailing and love your land adventures. Keep on looking for those UFOs. Extremely important subject and events nowadays. I have been interested in them since I was 15 and have witnessed 40 of them since. I'm now 83. Keep safe you all.
... Isabel (I hope I spelled that correctly) I applaud your courage ... knowing that most likely the journey will be unpleasant, you are right there for the next adventure ... bravo ...
I stayed for weeks at a surf break on huahine Years ago it was very cool and mellow Probably not the same today ,,I also remember boating around the waters of bora bora Staring down at the rainbow of colors in balancing off the ripples So mesmerizing Look forward to your next video
“Welcome back to history by Isabelle”. 😉. This was a beautiful episode. Thanks you both for taking us along. You are my favorite sailing/travel channel. 🥰
Video suggestion: 3 part 30 min Q&A of random questions of the Merewether virtual crew as you both get ready to round 50k. Would be easy to build it into a 5 or 6 video series and open up the email requests that you field. It's a whole new year so us mainlander's are ready to follow along and support but would love to hear the great teams insights....Much love/respect, stand strong, and keep it up cause all of us appreciate the sacrifice you give to provide such an experience....said enough...Major Respect 🙏 Happy 2022 to every single one of you ❤
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you 🥳 French Polynesia looks so beautiful, even without the gorgeous power poles and quite nice flowers. I’d be sad to leave it too, but you can always go back. 😌 Thank you for the history lesson Isabelle. 😌 Take care and stay healthy.
Merry Chrismas and HNY! You guys are so fortunate to see and enjoy these beautiful islands the way you doing...great on you for making it happen! Regards Marius
Merry Christmas, you guys!!! Thanks for the videos. I enjoy them immensely. I have always dreamt of travelling to Polynesia, let alone sailing there. May you have a Very Happy New Year, marked by Good Health, Love and Joy!!!

can either of you explain what this actually means as a mainlander...My understanding is a bond means a crime is suspected? Can you help educate me in simple terms for the general community
@@strangeadv4977 Each member of the boat's crew puts funds in escrow on arrival in French Polynesia. If a crew member does something wrong the authorities simply put him or her on a flight, deporting him or her back to their home country, using the crew member's escrow funds as payment for the flight with no burden on the local taxpayers. However, when there are no problems, and the vessel officially checks-out of French Polynesia all escrow funds are returned to the crew without interest. This was the policy when we sailed through French Polynesia in the 1980s, and S/Y Merewether confirmed the same policy is still in place today, seemingly working as intended. I hope this helps resolve the definitions between a bond in French and a security deposit in English.
@@rainfinger Very interesting, thanks for posting. And given the number of visitors, the interested made on the bonds when held by the French authorities would be a nice bit of revenue, too ... although right now with interest rates the way they are it wouldn't be too lucrative. Initially when the OP said "bond" I thought: "Monsieur, votre nom s'il vous plait?" "Bond ... James Bond."
Are you trying to install a new antenna cable with connectors pre-installed or are you installing the connectors yourself? If you need to install the connectors yourself, the version used for decades is a real Pita due to the need to solder the shield. Overheating during soldering can distort or even short the cable. There are some newer connectors available that don't require soldering the shield, just the center conductor. Here is a UA-cam video showing the installation of the new connector. m.ua-cam.com/video/dvKEFX409Cg/v-deo.html Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! ⛵❤️😷
Another great well goodish video Beerrun and isadill just try to be more natural to camera the difference between your Chanel an la vagabond is they’ve got two much Rugrats time and your corny only a friend would tell ya.

Yes unfortunately

Well....a touch lost here can you translate better to English? I tried about 5 different languages and struggled to understand the point 🤔
