- The premiere performance of Michael Giacchino's Star Trek Into Darkness Suite or alternatively Ode to John Harrison as performed at the 2013 BBC Film Music Prom.
The orchestra is the superb BBC Concert Orchestra under their redoubtable conductor Keith Lockhart.
I love the new main theme. Beauty of a piece, totally shows the feeling of Star Trek.Michael Giacchino really understands star trek
Yeah, if only cbs understood it as well as him, discovery wouldve been great
Love it too. What would be REALLY cool is if they tied into the wrath of khan theme when the staccato comes in. It’s not only in the same key. It’d be perfection for add this into that dynamics
What a master piece I have ever listened! Now, enjoy it again 🎉
4:03 gave me chills
Yes it always
Space.
The final frontier.
These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.
It's 5 year mission:
To explore strange new worlds.
To seek out new life and new civilizations
To boldly go
Where no man has gone before...
I may be a Star Wars fan, but I'm also a Trekkie. And the music of the Star Trek movies recently has sent chills down my spine... and that's a good thing. :3
@2:47 for me. Gives me chills every time.
Turning in is a good thing ...😌
WOW, JUST WOW, and the conductor's vulcan hand sign to the orchestra at the end so brilliant.
Giacchino did a great job at marrying classic Star Trek motifs with a new flavor and soaring overture that feels "fresh, but familiar" which was in line with JJ Abrahms goal for the 2009 film
JJ Abrams does like to do that, doesn't he...Star Wars VII was garbage because of that.
Ignored Advice Productions Ehh...no SW: VI and III were just terrible because there was no Attention to detail, just vapid nonsense. Solo was actually the best of the latest movies
@@Pwj579 No, Episodes VI and III were not terrible or vapid nonsense and had plenty of attention to detail. And you can't say stuff like that without properly explaining it and then treat it as law. Besides, he didn't even mention Episodes VI and III.
@@IgnoredAdviceProductions That was uncalled for.
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 So was destroying beloved classic franchises but you wouldn't know anything about that
STAR TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK ALL THE WAY TO WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE. LONG LIVE STAR TREK
francisco Rodriguez live long and prosper
This gave me goosebumps
Same
if one day we became a federation, this will be our anthem! it delivers so much courage and peace!
+Monica Mons Star Trek really shows best future humanity could have I think
So we would have multiple anthems? You do know this is composed of 4 separate songs, right? They make it flow so probably didn't notice
That was very good. I love that main theme whenever they show the Enterprise.
Michael Giacchino is truly the next John Williams with his memorable scores.
***** Surely you have to have Jerry Goldsmith in there as well?
***** I meant Giacchino makes memorable, old timey, magical scores that are just breathtaking and give you a warm, fuzzy feeling just like Williams' scores do.
I understand what you mean. John Williams is unmatchable. But you gotta admit Giacchino is following his footsteps for greatness.
***** I would agree as much as i am a Zimmer fanboy as well, JW is in a league of his own. Zimmer is certainly the most notable as far as recent success is concerned i mean he lands lots of big movies. Though i guess we're talking about a different kind of success.
***** I hate to disagree with you bc you make alot of points, but thats not really fair... Starwars and Harry Potter are memorable movies and franchise in their own right without the music... Other big composers these days haven't had to chance to work with those type of franchises... But now that Giacchino is working on the new Star Wars franchise and Zimmer is working on the all the new DC movies coming out, we shall see if they can at least hold a candle to John Williams.
this piece is just like the refitted enterprise.. fitting the old with some new.. magnificent
but who am i to judge, i'm a doctor not a critic
lolololol doc
Damn it Jim
Lol. Green blooded, pointy eared hob-goblin.
ha ha very good Kelly
Um.... Sorry but I didn't say that. I wish I did but it was bones McCoy that said it. :( :)
6 years ago?? Crazy. This was the first album I bought when I finally got a smart phone and I used to sleep to it every night.
Michael Giacchino's Star Trek theme never gets old
0:00 Sub Prime Detective
0:29 End Titles (Adaption of the Original TV Series Main Theme by Alexander Courage)
1:30 Ode To Harrison
3:23 Main Theme
Ty
thanks
Actually 3:23 is Enterprising Young Men
Yes and no. It's the same theme, but this is the arrangement from the End Credits.
Silfimur iiiii
Well done,I like how the Conductor did the Vulcan Symbol of "Live Long an Prosper "😀
I get goosebumps every single time i hear this, it's a beautiful piece of music with homage paid to the previous star trek generations
This is the most beautiful thing i've ever heard in my life
Amen to that.
true that, ive seen every startrek ever, and i can tell you the best reboot of movies ever.
Definitely agree with you there.
+Minidinno well, the original ones have more onto hopes, utopian and philosophical content...but I aint saying this aint bad either...both original and the reboots have good points :)
I love the bit where they show the Enterprise and the music is just gorgeous.
every time I hear this song, I imagine the enterpriser rising in the sky, marked several generations !! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Michael Giacchino never ever disappoints
Ho Yan Law he did with his Star Wars soundtrack
Really? He did? For me is another master piece.
Rogue One soundtrack is amazing.
You want to ear the same soundtrack allong all films, the same main theme film along film... ? Michael makes variations of John Williams themes and never loses the "soul" and the feelings of the Star Wars saga.
Bdw. Sorry about my english.
Ho Yan Law rogue one's soundtrack was fantastic! Especially the ones towards the end: Hope, Your father would be proud, AT-ACT attack. Great blend of modern take on star wars as well as good nods towards William's motifs from previous films. Hope he does more star wars movies if Williams doesn't do them in the future
Fantastic. I fail to understand why here in America don't have these kinds of concerts with world class orchestras. I would love to go.
+olentangy74 Because we've lost our sense of culture to the widespread accommodation of what is the "popular fad" Pretty depressing really.
Carnegie hall in New York the GCSO (Greenville country superior orchestra) plays there with other orchestras every year there music is good
Because British people still appreciate these kind of music
Absolutely SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!! Transcendent! Utterly emotive of the entire Star Trek saga! Beautiful!
I was lucky enough to be right at the front to this and it was one of the best things I've seen!
That song has so much power on its own but to see the musicians and so many of them bring it to life is amasing. WOW I was fludded with emotion.
Utterly absolutely magnificently fantastic. How someone can first imagine and then fit all those instruments together in such harmony is beyond me. Makes you believe in great things.
unbelievable.....love it....music is everything, specially of movie that you love so much.
Holy Ship....!
lolol
I watch since 1960, The best !!
The first Star Trek episode didn't air until September 8, 1966. I have watched all 900+ episodes.
Brilliant. I hope to be this amazing one day
4:02 will always give me chills
serious goosebumps... favorite movie... beautiful music... oh. my. GOSH.
2:25 to 3:20 gives me chills ....
I don't know if Michael Giacchino is the next John Williams, but he is my favorite composer right now. I don't think it's good for people to compare him to John Williams, because it's too much to live up to. Giacchino is a great composer in his own right, he has his own style, if you like it, great, if not, don't listen. For people that say he doesn't have any memorable themes, they need to listen to Up again. And his new Star Trek theme gets stuck in my head all the time. One of the themes from dawn of the planet of the apes got stuck in my head too. With Jurassic World, everyone knows John Williams' theme, so you can't expect him to top that, but thought it was a pretty good score. Can't wait for the new Star Trek, and anything else he composes.
CapitalJ2 next John Williams?! He is almost as good as Martin fucking odonell man or whoever made the halo theme
The similarity between Michael and John is that (a) Michael grew up listening John -- listen to his Star Wars work. The difference is a a more modern feeling. Also both can compose in many different styles. (Zimmer is the king of multiple-style, though). Anecdote from somewhere on the web (I think an MG interview) : He was working at Dreamworks doing to the music for a Jurassic Park game, and was ready to use their state-of-the-art synthesisers, when Steven Spielberg stuck his head around the door and said : "That's great! When are we doing the live symphony recording?" Their themes are almost interchangeable, but each composer has his strengths. (My piano teacher kicked me out in Grade2 because I kept on playing John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith themes during the practice session, starting with 'JAWS' which I learned to play by ear... - that was a joke, by, the way, for the irony-free).
@@colin9083 zimmer's music is getting more similar to each other though.
He does very much so have memorable scores but for me Star Trek and the incredibles stick out the most
Absolutely brilliant
That was amazing I got chills just watching it onscreen I can’t even imagine how it feels to experience this live, one of the things I loved about the new Star Trek movies is the great musical score it was so Star Trek but for the new generation, I just love it so much
Cara... cada vez mais me convenço que fui de uma geração privilegiada!! Essa joia fez parte da minha adolescência!
Simply AMAZING!
One of the best ST themes
What? It isn't one theme. It's like 4 different songs
Liam Mcqueeney maybe he's referring to the part where they play the main theme
Best score, James Horner score ST2
Keith Lockhart - he moves like a dancer. Awesome :-).
Magnificient!
This gave me chills and so much nostalgia.
I'm not crying, you are crying!
Magnificent theme. When i hear this music I can see the battered Enterprise rising from the clouds like a silver dragon.....
This gets me every time, utterly brilliant!
this is so good i could listen to it all day
I loved this! Like, I was there, but it sounds just as good here on UA-cam. You can really see the emotion of Mr. Lockhart, and how the orchestra reacts to this! It was a wonderful experience listening to this piece! I wish I could be part of an orchestra like this! Wow!
Mind blowing! Absolutely awesome. Love a professional symphony orchestra! Outstanding!
Old trekkie- absolutely love the new stuff especially this theme. Thanks for post ,think of how much work it took to pull it off-amazing and inspiring!
WOW! Can't say much else! But this, Thank You conductor and players for an incredible experience.really this IS beautiful work from all! This Genuine Piece of Art IS in My favorite Box!
WOWOWOOW O MY GOSH!!! Im Impressed
This is Awesomely Outstanding!!
Micheal Giacchino,of course Italy and Italians are everywhere in artistic things.
Grazie!
"I got through Star Trek Into Darkness without crying" said no one, ever
I didn't. What about that?
I cried from the disgust I felt about the film. I liked 09 and I really liked Beyond but that middle movie was a wreck given its writing and characters
Into Darkness doesn't get me at all. On the other hand, the 2009 movie makes me cry on the Kelvin scene every time. Just that perfect ballet of a ship and crew fighting to the last.
Funny, the other movie to have Khan in it also had very mixed reviews. And for not entirely different reasons too.
I did because i kept calling out everything wrong with the movie in the theater :/
What about beyond?
At the 4:00 minute mark, the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I mean all the way.......Amazing..!!!!
*60 in July 8th. I grow with the series in NYC till now on cable long live STAR TREK!*
i love the star trek into darkness theme from the score itself but this is like 10 times better. epic and i wish we would play that in the group i am in
Its so good 😍 i Love Star Trek and the Music fits this so Good 😏
Great job. Super nice. Thanx
Nothing short of amazing!
5:47 - Goosebumps

Who the Hell would thumbs down this?
I don't know bit we Must look for that frustrated volcano, introduce a kilo of Red Matter into the * and trow him to the core of the nearest star.
+Cernnunos Pendragon
Sounds Logical.
Star Wars fan I'm sure...
Accidentally clicked it.
+olosh01 I'm a star wars fan and i love star trek, not as much as star wars but i still love it. But you are right, half of star wars fans are dumb idiots
I didn't realize my boy Keith Lockhart was conducting! Very cool!
Again, the thing sounds like the intro to a beauty pageant in Vegas. There she is!~ Miss Cosmos!
Sensacional.
Outstanding
So good
its the most beautifull song in this series, like voyager theme. i love it.
4:54 the face every director makes when the song vibes like this.
This is awesome
I don't see bass though
amazing!
Wonderful
What a theme song! So strong!!
This is good music.
Commander Spock a logical observation commander
wow amazing.
This film is quite under-rated also, along with its score. This should have been Star Wars: Rogue One Episode 3.99. The prequel we truly deserved.
Confusion ¿
Love that music
bravissimo
touches the soul
I getting goosebumps
amazing
amAzing trip into stars
Marvelous!
MAGNÍFICO!!! \O/
Can’t wait to hear a new recording with the choral bit in there!
la musica da film ormai e' diventata al pari o meglio delle piu' belle e famose opere che hanno segnato la cultura e la storia della musica classica , vere opere d 'arte
Amazing💯
GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!
