I was there that night, and enjoyed the performance. Never would I have guessed that I would keep coming back to this music and this theme so much in later life!
Although I LOVE Voyager and DS9 themes, this is by far the best piece of Star Trek music by Maestro Michael Giacchino, after the original series (A. Courage) P.S. At 6:53, the Vulcan greeting at the end by Mr. Lockhart is equally fantastic ;)
Whenever I listen this incredible soundtrack, first reaction is to rewatch the movie for maybe 20+ times. And totally agree with you. Then I listen to James Horner Wrath of Kahn. And repeat. 😂. Voyager and Deep Space 9 are my favourites themes also. But then when you listen to Picard you forget your old love ones. Or generations with that chorus. I guess most of the star trek music is awesome. Sorry for the long comment. My two passions together. Star Trek and music. LLAP. 🖖
4:07 onwards has to be my absolute favourite part. Michael Giacchino has done a magnificant job. I put his compositions up there with the original score by Alexander Courage, then that by James Horner and Cliff Eideleman - Eidelman's excellent composition for ST VI is excellent, and far too overlooked, in my opinion.
@@GeoEstes Thank you. I am glad you, too, love the music by Giacchino, and am glad to be of help getting to the truly brilliant section of his brilliant composition. Best wishes 🖖from Australia!
Okay, so you know the Next Generation theme music was taken from a piece of score in one of the movies? I'm pretty sure that the melody that Giacchino is also a phrase from one of the scores, but for the life of me, I can't remember which one! Can anyone please help?!...
Sorry but this would have been so much better if that 9,999 pipe organ was used for some of it. The Albert Hall Organ is like a Galaxy-class of organs. She we have sounded awesome among all this.
In music we call It and arrangement. Is another version of the song, made for THIS orchestra, and not the original orchestra. Maybe is longer or shorter, and a lot of things changed, but the songs is still "the same"
Then why does it sound 'inferior'? Yes, I'm aware musical taste is subjective and so forth. My point is, it is NOT the same, even if the score is the same.
"Absolutely brilliant" is way too hyperbolic. His ST theme is very nice, but the soundtracks overall are far from what Goldsmith or Horner did in TMP, Khan or Spock films.
@@commonsensenow8425 Right?! He's one of the best working mainstream today....with a lot of things, I think that because people grew up with the other music, they have a justified bias when it comes to newer music attached to those same franchises
@@consonaadversapars It's almost like it's not trying to be Goldsmith or Horner, but rather create a separate musical identity for this separate Star Trek universe.
Perfection!
I was moved sat here on my sofa... can only imagine how epic it must have been to be sat there listening to it live.

No matter what they say about the movies the soundtrack was on point!!

I LOVE this new Star Trek theme music!! Especially the way the composer put in a little of the 60's theme, too. Fantastic.
tiffsaver yeah that's awesome!
dies Concert ist einfach unbeschreiblich👏👏👏👏👏
The problem with this is that you can only like it once. What an amazing performance !
This is an awesome theme…. All the reboots have been given amazing themes which although are new all have a nod back to the 60s original somewhere
Michael Giacchino is a freakin' genius.

@@marianavivargotschlich8042 No worries but I am offended actually… No mention of Star Trek Discovery 😅.
Take care and stay with ST & Music 🎶💝
It was probably pure pleasure to listen to this live ❤

Thanks for giving me the time stamp. I was about to click away when I saw your post and went there instead. Great theme!

I think this was the best of the first three reboots. Hopefully the fourth will be out soon😊🖖
Arrepiante !!! Amo a série desde criança, saudades do tempo que assistia junto com meu querido pai. SP - Brasil
Say what you will about the movie but the music is brilliant.

There is a moment...wait wrong movie
i knew there was something missing in the original series segments...the opera vocals...
You think your world is safe...it is only an illusion

always have the feeling that the new theme from Michael is missing something
I'd box the guy waving his arms around just cuz he's obviously racist.
Terrible sound quality. !!!
No, it’s not. It’s as clear as it can be for a live recording.
Star Trek Into Dorkness.
Not a patch on the original. It is good, but it's a copy.

OldManMontgomery Because the original was auto tuned to shit in the recording studio. No such luxury here.. pure sound.
@@OldManMontgomery Because it doesn't "sound 'inferior'," just different. This arrangement was clearly to be enjoyed outside the context of the film.
@@neonlightsuk3864 Not "to shit."
Michael Giacchino adds absolutely nothing, he needs to stop composing for movies.
Bullshit.

That sucks. Same as the movie.
No, it doesn’t. It does a good job of giving a rundown of the film’s musical identity.
