At 30 years old I just discovered and completed TNG for the first time. I was only just born when season 3 was on tv. I didn’t think anything would ever match it, but I just finished Voyager, which I absolutely adored. I feel like I’ve experienced something truly special. A life affecting series of stories. They are utterly ageless and way ahead of their time. And this music... wow. If I live another thirty years, I know I’ll still be listening.

This is probably the best Trek concert. Outstanding musicians, a wonderful, passionate conductor=a moving performance, not just for Trek fans and soundtrack enthusiasts but for any music lover. Thank you for creating this wonderful experience.
I agree, especially when you consider that it's a live performance that has to stack up against the very polished studio soundtrack versions, which it actually does to a remarkable degree. Well done!!
Oh my goodness , im a Star Trek fan also for 50yrs .... this is something else .... and made me cry ... thank you and well played everybody who did this Amazing concert ... WOW ...
The best conductor. Great passion. Incredible music. Out if this world. Tears of joy. Star Trek saved my life many times and this concert will go down in history.
In my experience, Star Trek can actually help in life crises and give comfort: don't be afraid of tomorrow, discover new possibilities, improve yourself, etc. And yet always stay true to yourself and forgive yourself for your own mistakes.
Conductor is Amazing ! Does the Genius Jerry Goldsmith Score Justice….Music transports me back to a Time when I was so mentally exhausted but Trek soothed me into Chilling out putting things into perspective.
Glad I found this epic treasure! Listened to the whole thing, gave me goosebumps, and even watery eyes. Music can certainly make you feel things, but great music like this can evoke deep emotions. Passing the link along to lots of family and friends. Live long and prosper!
Yeah, the Jar Jar Abrams / Bad Reeboot Trek movies might be utter forgettable drek, but at least they did have some great music. Still glad they aren't making any more though.
when i first saw yorktown starbase and heard the music to it in the cinema, i couldn't stop myself from weeping .. the yorktown track is now going to be played at my cremation when my coffin conveys into the furnace (interesting fact - they called it yorktown because when roddenberry first conceived trek, he was going to call the ship uss yorktown - but of course that changed to enterprise)
But how could the screenwriters be so dumb as to name a space station "Yorktown" when the term has always been used for a capital ship just as "Enterprise," "Lexington," or "Saratoga" has been?!! Get a clue people!
My concert instructor called the trombones the wheels of the car...it was the French horn that was its engine. (Strings were the frame/structure while winds were the fuel/gas).
The themes and music exemplifies the heart and soul of the Star Trek franchise, as stirring, timeless and immortal as the many series and movies themselves. This was also within a couple years of my 50th. I remember our humble family huddled around our TV, on edge for this weeks unspeakable adventure. Thanks Gene, Kirk, Spock, Picard, Data...for giving us the ride of our lives....May it never, never, end....
This is the best orchestral concert of Star Trek music I've heard. My new background music when I play Star Trek Online! That was the most beautiful orchestral version of Inner Light I've ever heard. Amazing. I could feel the nuanced emotion in every piece. It was tender at just the right moment, and robust when needed; a rollercoaster of precision, musical talent and a conductor who I could feel was as passionate about Star Trek as any life long Trekkie. Again, this is the SUPERLATIVE orchestral concert of Star Trek music. Bravo!
The score for Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan is one of the best soundtracks for a movie ever. And also, one of the best sci-fi sequels ever produced for the big screen. ❤
Mostly this is a great performance, but they really misinterpreted the Wrath of Khan title theme. The original soundtrack recording was a slightly botched rush job, but they really doubled down on that rushed, scrambling out of time feeling, and added a couple new poor decisions of their own.
Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before!
I am a nerd and proud of it. Tons of memories, many scientists, engineers, and great minds were awakened by the series. Thank you dor the upload, LIve long and prosper and have all your systems working within established parameters. Resistance is futile.
I listen to this occasionally. Never gets old and the 90 min just whizzes by. Thank you for all the musical talents behind this! And the visuals were interesting too.
This concert was incredible. Such talent!! Hearing each one of these themes being played brought back so many feelings, much like I was hearing them for the very first time! They are all so great, but it came as a surprise, even to me, that I enjoyed the DS9 theme the most.
Epic! This music takes me to a whole different place. I almost got in a wreck listening to it in my truck because I was closing my eyes taking it all in. Lol. I'm such a nerd.
The 352 that gave this a thumbs down must be Ferengi that don't appreciate HU-MON music. This entire concert is awesome especially Picard's piccolo solo from a TNG episode.
Could talk about how beautiful First Contact theme is, the swashbuckling weaving of the Wrath of Khan, the threads through Voyager, the Beauty of Illia's theme, the cheeky Stealing the Enterprise, or the hopeful, epic, gorgeous Generations theme that captures the spirit of Star Trek; but to be honest the entire performance in it's entirety is incredibly special. One of the few videos on UA-cam I'd be genuinely gutted to lose access to; it captures so much of the values I learned through Star Trek, as indeed many of you in the comments have too. 🖖here's hoping Star Trek captures or rediscovers the magic once again in the future.
It's an interesting decision in the sequence of pieces to have the Nemesis music come before First Contact, because the opening of the Nemesis music is clearly a variation on the opening of First Contact. Personally I would have played First Contact first for that reason, plus it preceded Nemesis in the historical release date as well. Cheers to my fellow Trek Fans!!
One of the best orchestras that I've ever listened to. The conductor makes his job with fun, excitement, joy and honor. The orchestra loves to play the music with passion, than out of nowhere the child chours.... and at the end... the opra singer.... one word... wonderful!
At 59 and being a lifelong Star Trek TOS fan, I had no idea that the "vocals" were performed by a human. I had always thought the original version from the 60's used a Theremin or something similar in order to simulate the vocals. I became very emotional seeing the finale of this video.
Little known sad fact. There are lyrics to the theme song. It was written by Roddenbary as a cash grab. It was never recorded. His lyrics would appear in the sheet music. He would get royalties. Alexander Courage was not amused. So GR would be cowritter.
Actually, the signer had the hardest part. Everyone else had the music right in front of them. She didn't have that luxury. She had to have hers memorized.
The vocals, performed by singer Louie Jean Norman (b. 1913, d. 2005) were only in the 2nd season opening title recorded in the 1967. Season 1 used the "cello version" (a more subdued arrangement also performed in this concert) and to avoid paying music royalties to the vocal performer for Season 3, yet another opening rendition was recorded using just a very theremin-like organ sound for the main theme instead of a human voice, screwing Loulie Jean out of continued royalties. Or so the producers thought. But then came the perpetual reruns, and because it is widely considered the best arrangement, most foreign markets ran Star Trek with only the 2nd season title sequence, so Loulie continued to receive her fee after all :)
Definitely adding this to my "Summer Concert Series" for next summer. My S.C.S. - every Saturday night I play a favored utube concert on my outdoor screen with about 5,000 watts and 8 speakers! My neighbors love it!
@ Jay Bodner - can I come? I'm currently listening whilst doing some writing for my PhD - film and TV scores are perfect for this purpose - not exactly 5K watts and 8 speakers, but some pretty decent floor standers - 4 ohms lots of bass - and a nice amp - so not too bad!!
Like many I have been watching since the original tv series. At the 10 second mark the goosebumps came and then the floodgates opened. Wow, you just don't realize how much this music has impacted you over the years until you sit and listen to this. I find it interesting that I immediately knew each song...
How I would have loved to have been in the audience at this concert. Thank you to the people who posted this video, its wonderful. I've been to the Prague film music festival in 2019 and that was a very special time too.

far superior to the crap we hear now in modern film. Need to bring back thematic orchestral pieces that are exciting and fun like this to listen to.
"The Inner Light"; I STILL tear up. Every single time.
It is just an amazing melody, can’t help but smile when listening to it
Absolutely nothing!!
A reminder of how iconic the entire Star Trek franchise has been, not just in this country but worldwide.
i dont know who the conductor was, but he was incredable- and so was the orchestra.i thoughti was moved when i heard john williams orchestrate "superman" in 1979, and emperial march in 2016. this was totaly movivg to me, and at 71- thats music that returned life to me. this new asian condutor is worthy of carrying john williams torch. to old timers like me who was actually their, i say well done! thank you for the memories.
Ohh Myy Godd !!! The beauty of this performance is immeasurable. Pure class and talent.
Absolutely Majestic! My friend brought
The soundtrack to Star Trek the Motion picture to high school. Our teacher let us play it during homeroom. The cool kids looked at us like we're the biggest dorks in creation.
You are the cool kids
No they were the dorks!!! Lol
What do you mean? It's awsome music! How could you be the dorks?
@@aiosquadron he means the cool kids in the story are the real dorks
The music from "The Wrath of Khan" is some of the best in film .
Daniel Dragisic Agreed. One of the most beautiful scores I’ve ever heard.
I was little kid seeing Wrath of Khan in the theater. Scared me!
@@kellywoods5810 It's even scarrier in book! What Khan did with the scientist to get some info about genesis are quite brutal and they did not showed it on screen. You should read it!
This is one the few clips I’ve seen it played live. It’s very underrated.
James Horner was the man!
This is a concert I wish I had been able to attend. The music cuts deep to heart and soul.
I envy anyone who saw this concert live. It never gets old listening or watching. Just....wow! 👍♥️🎶🎵
Voyager has a few episodes in which they deal with and issue, THAT WE ARE STILL DEALING WITH TODAY!!!
Voyager? Really? Life affecting? I found it utterly forgettable.
@@Steve-gc5nt Yeah well, you know that’s like uh, your opinion man.
Dude, check out TOS, where it ALL came from.......

This is the most beautiful, stirring tribute to Star Trek I've ever seen and heard, just beautiful!

This Star Trek music heaven! 🖖🏽
The Wrath of Khan theme is my absolute favourite. So beautiful.
The score from the motion picture is phenomenal. Gives me goosebumps.
All the songs give me goosebumps, to be honest!
This is probably the best Trek concert. Outstanding musicians, a wonderful, passionate conductor=a moving performance, not just for Trek fans and soundtrack enthusiasts but for any music lover. Thank you for creating this wonderful experience.
Yes true :)
I agree, especially when you consider that it's a live performance that has to stack up against the very polished studio soundtrack versions, which it actually does to a remarkable degree. Well done!!
The audience seemed a bit restrained.
Agreed!
@@billjenkins687 I would have been on my feet for sure.
Oh my goodness , im a Star Trek fan also for 50yrs .... this is something else .... and made me cry ... thank you and well played everybody who did this Amazing concert ... WOW ...
Enterprise reveal theme from TMP is a study in majestic, epic film scoring. It's just brilliant!
Been a long time since I've heard the DS9 theme.. spectacular
Beautiful! Beautiful! You should do a world tour! I would pay millions to attend!
Live Long and Prosper!
Damned that lady can sing....what a powerful set of lungs she has. This must have been a heck of a concert to go to :). bravo Prague orchestra!
The last piece they played from the original series with her wonderful voice took me back 50 years. Just fantastic.
I'm in love with the music and those who make it and wonderful conductor ❤❤❤❤😂
Conductor is Amazing ! Does the Genius Jerry Goldsmith Score Justice….Music transports me back to a Time when I was so mentally exhausted but Trek soothed me into Chilling out putting things into perspective.
Star Trek music is a master piece in its own right. It's enjoyable to listen to even without seeing the shows related to it.
Goldsmith-Courage-Giacchino... will live long and prosper in our hearts ♥️
This performance has me tearing up more than once.
Glad I found this epic treasure! Listened to the whole thing, gave me goosebumps, and even watery eyes. Music can certainly make you feel things, but great music like this can evoke deep emotions. Passing the link along to lots of family and friends. Live long and prosper!
Peace and long life
man the star trek beyond theme is beautiful
that movie deserved so much better, by far and away the best of the kelvin movies
What an incredible performance. That conductor really is a joy to watch, he just looks like he loves what he does.
Agreed - beautiful concert, pure joy and excellence!
The "Night on the Yorktown" is such a wonderful piece of music. It brings tears to my eyes every time I listen it.
Matteo Bonvicino I think so
Yeah, the Jar Jar Abrams / Bad Reeboot Trek movies might be utter forgettable drek, but at least they did have some great music. Still glad they aren't making any more though.
So much hope and optimism with just enough callbacks to Trek scores over the decades.
when i first saw yorktown starbase and heard the music to it in the cinema, i couldn't stop myself from weeping .. the yorktown track is now going to be played at my cremation when my coffin conveys into the furnace (interesting fact - they called it yorktown because when roddenberry first conceived trek, he was going to call the ship uss yorktown - but of course that changed to enterprise)
But how could the screenwriters be so dumb as to name a space station "Yorktown" when the term has always been used for a capital ship just as "Enterprise," "Lexington," or "Saratoga" has been?!! Get a clue people!
Never really realized how important the French horns are in this music
Hey, we are fans too ;)
My concert instructor called the trombones the wheels of the car...it was the French horn that was its engine. (Strings were the frame/structure while winds were the fuel/gas).
Yeah, but I still like the music, anyway.
Yeah most of the Star Trek Themes use French Horns. That's what gives the themes that depth.
Can't believe the horns! superb playing - no idea how their lip holds out for that long with so much playing (and high notes). Respect.
All I can say is , "Whew!" That conductor is something else...❤🔥
Still has me amazed that Star Trek could have this much impact that amazing musicians are playing the themes from the shows and movies.
a 3 year NBC show that at first needed some grassroots efforts to get the third year purchased.
Bravo!
*Very* well said my friend!
I need to go to this symphony before I die. So awesome. Even without video, you can feel you are in the future.
I freakin' love this concert. I think I watch/listen to it at least once a month. I would so love to attend a Trek music concert.
Yeah.. I just checked their website. .not a mention of star trek. Such an awesome concert I'd love to see.
The score for Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan is one of the best soundtracks for a movie ever. And also, one of the best sci-fi sequels ever produced for the big screen. ❤
Agree completely.
That’s original
What I really like in the Star Trek music are the wind instruments. It shivers down your spine...
I love the French horns too. I always get chills from the First Contact theme.
Strings are the best.
@@mintydog06 Yes yes yes! The French Horns! Especially on James Horner's soundtracks like Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock.
Good camera work showing the orchestra as well (lots of shots of First Violin especially).
@@mintydog06 Horns, strings and timpani - there's not much more you need for the DS9 and Yoager themes. Ok, some flutes and clash cymbals.
I am a nerd and proud of it. Tons of memories, many scientists, engineers, and great minds were awakened by the series. Thank you dor the upload, LIve long and prosper and have all your systems working within established parameters. Resistance is futile.
I was here! It was the most electrifying concert I’ve ever been to!
I listen to this occasionally. Never gets old and the 90 min just whizzes by. Thank you for all the musical talents behind this! And the visuals were interesting too.
This was an excellent concert. I witnessed it in Orlando, Fl. I truly want to see this again. My mother will adore this
Love the ending singing. That is Star Trek music at its finest.
It's a theremin in the original.
@@ThomasTVP That is not actually true. While it sounds like it might have been, it is the voice of Loulie Jean Norman.
Used in The Cage theme music
I don't know why, but every time i hear the theme from Voyager, it makes me cry. It's so beautiful.
It is evocative of the ocean to me. I love this theme, too.
Both Voyager and Deep Space Nine get me right in the feels every time.
You are complety correct, perhaps it's becuase they made it home.
O mesmo acontece comigo.
I was just thinking the same thing a minute ago and then saw your comment. I have always felt Janeway to be my Captain.
Would’ve been hilarious to see Johnathon Frakes playing the trombone!
I had to check to see if he actually knew how to play the trombone, and he does! He's played for fans at conventions before
That would have been amazing! 😅

@DayneTreader Very cool!
Ein wahres Feuerwerk an Präzision, Perfektion und spielerischem Können. Ich habe selten so ein perfekt abgestimmtes Orchester gehört. WELTKLASSE!!!
Thank You - - - - - Bringing back very fond memories of watching Trek with my father who passed away more than 20 years ago. Thanks :)
The 352 that gave this a thumbs down must be Ferengi that don't appreciate HU-MON music. This entire concert is awesome especially Picard's piccolo solo from a TNG episode.
Ha, or maybe some were Nausicaans. "Play Damjat, human!"
Thank You for the tears of pure joy..

Cheers to my fellow Trek Fans!!
the best
The best ever TREK concert !
One of the best orchestras that I've ever listened to.
The conductor makes his job with fun, excitement, joy and honor.
The orchestra loves to play the music with passion, than out of nowhere the child chours.... and at the end... the opra singer.... one word... wonderful!
"One of the best orchestras that I've ever listened to." - You should listen to more orchestras.

The best of the best concert series, and movies in the world.

I think his wife sang it (?)
Ok, new life goal: visit Film Music Prague Festival
Please do, would love to see you here :D
considering your name, you are from Island, so its not too far to come here to Prague by plane, you will be welcome. ;)
This was an amazing concert. The quality was right up there with the London Symphony Orchestra. Love that conductor.
Definitely adding this to my "Summer Concert Series" for next summer. My S.C.S. - every Saturday night I play a favored utube concert on my outdoor screen with about 5,000 watts and 8 speakers! My neighbors love it!
Sounds awesome. Is food provided?
@ Jay Bodner - can I come? I'm currently listening whilst doing some writing for my PhD - film and TV scores are perfect for this purpose - not exactly 5K watts and 8 speakers, but some pretty decent floor standers - 4 ohms lots of bass - and a nice amp - so not too bad!!

This is absolutely sublime. Pretty much perfect recreation of the sound track. I think the dislikes on this video are because it ends.
Like many I have been watching since the original tv series. At the 10 second mark the goosebumps came and then the floodgates opened. Wow, you just don't realize how much this music has impacted you over the years until you sit and listen to this. I find it interesting that I immediately knew each song...
