I'm 6'3 240lbs and my rebel pulls me no problem I love ripping thru the city
I have a 2018 Rebel 500 after getting my license last year. I have found it to be a good bike so far, more than enough power for me, easy to handle and nice and low (5’6 female). It’s been very forgiving as I build on my riding skills.
Awesome to hear. My wife who just got her license rides a CB300f and finds it very beginner friendly.
How was the transmission? Is it like a 1 down 5 up transmission?
@@andrewleviste611 Yes, 1 down, 5 up
Just took a maiden voyage on my 2021 Rebel 500S. Love it. That sucker has surprising acceleration. I've ridden 650s and 750s that didn't feel any stronger. Very impressed so far.
Nice video. It is now 2023 and I am viewing this for the first time. A few months back I purchased a 2023 Honda Rebel 500 and find it still fits the bill as you describe. I just like to cruise around taking in the scenery and enjoying life or running errands here in town. This bike fits my needs exactly. You describe its benefits to the tee. Thanks.
I own a 2013 CBR500R and a 2017 Rebel500. I have come to the conclusion that I prefer the Rebel the most and will eventually sell my CBR.
Both nice bikes. I have to say that Honda knows how to build a good motorcycle whether it’s a cruiser or a sport bike.
I’m 5’6”’and 145... mine takes me up and down on hills in Missouri Ozarks no prob.
I'm 5'9 and 165, and it takes me up a hill at 85 and loves it
I purchased a 2017 Rebel 500 new in July 2018 and now have 11,200 miles on it. I have it setup for motocamping. I like the light weight, maneuverability and great gas mileage.
Great bike and is totally suitable for some longer travel.
@@DifferentSpokesTV I added a windshield, gear indicator, tachometer and saddlebags along with a custom rack I can fasten my waterproof camping duffel bags. I also had a local upholstery shop customize my seat. What I love about the bike is how customizable it is.
Sounds awesome. The sales guy also told me that you can get highway pegs that just bolt on made specifically for this bike. The Rebel has come a long way and the 500 is one of the better cruiser options out there.
I'm looking at buying one. First time rider here.
Great choice. You’ll like the bike.
Fantastic starter bike. I actually miss mine.
New rider here too. Looking to buy one too but I'm hesitant between the new Vulcan S, Bolt Spec or this one.
They're all good choices for a first bike but they're not necessarily in the same class. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try the Vulcan and the Bolt, but they are both bigger more powerful bikes than the Rebel. Don't let that discourage you though. most riders can handle any of these bikes but the bigger bikes do pack a bigger punch so you have to have more respect for the throttle.
That's my choice too.....not sure if me being 5'11" with a 32" inseam would be scrunched up or not but it's a good looking bike!
Been riding for decades but this looks like a great commuter and all around fun bike. I've always owned Honda and for this price might be an add for me.
Totally not a beginner bike. Great all around runabout.
I bought a ninja zx6 as my first bike but I tried a rebel 500 during my training courses and ill definitly switch to a rebel once im tired of the ninja. Driving this bike was a smooth breeze and it was so fun. Everything responded so well
A 600 is not comfy on the street and too fast for any speed limit but the Autobahn. I used to own one and didn’t have fun on it because I never felt like I was exploring its full potential. Sport bikes are meant for the track and that’s where they excel. Someday I’ll get another one and not even insure it, just put a track fairing on it and do track days.
Just got mine yesterday i love it. It doesn't feel like a weak bike at all and it's fun as hell
Congrats on the purchase. It's a sweet ride.
I haven't experienced hell. How much fun has it been to you?
For me I was torn between the 3 Japanese bikes Bolt, Rebel, KVS. Buddy owns a Rebel and very nice. Rode the other 2 as well. I decided to go Bolt just because it’s more classic, great aftermarket support, and belt driven. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the 3, they are all better than Harley’s options in this class IMO 😉
The Bolt is a great looking bike. I’d say it’s not quite a competitor to the Rebel being a bigger bike with twice the displacement. You’re right, we can’t go wrong. It’s great to have so many good choices.
I just got mine 2019.... Love it all the way.....
I thought you were gonna find a small Cannabis plantation by the gorge hehehe :)
Take care... good vid, I love my Rebel :)
Ha, ha. I’m in Canada so I could grow a couple in my front yard if I wanted to.
@@DifferentSpokesTV yup, up to 4... I went a little overboard this year hehehe
Lucky fool!
I test drove one and I’m 6’2”, but one of the most fun bikes I’ve ever road. Not really suitable for touring so I bought a bigger bike, but would love a rebel as my second city bike.
Honda did not offer me a test ride. Harley did. Great review.
Yeah. I found that Harley is really good about offering test rides.
I have done literally all of the research in the world. This is the bike for me. I will probably replace the muffler, suspension, and that headlight.
Michael Weston good choice. It’ll sound mean with a slip-on exhaust.
Bought a 2019 rebel 500 with 3k miles on it. Has corbin gunfighter seat. Gem classic dual exhaust. Bitwel zed hanebars. And saddle bags.
Honda improved the Rebel 500 for 2020.
planning to get mine next month....I honestly can't wait
I’m 6’ 1” 260lbs and have never driven a bike before. Plan on getting my license and wanted to ask what’s the best bike for a beginner to get used into riding.
The Honda Rebel 500 looks VERY similar to a Harley Davidson...the Harley Street 500 is it's direct competion.
I’ll have to check out that Harley to compare.
The Rebel is actually based on the Yamaha Bolt which in turn is loosely based on an FXR Harley-Davidson.
How I wanted Honda to bring this machine to Brazil.😞
I give up - how?
Nice review buddy. Thanks a lot
Your videos have good audio, if I might ask, what mic are you using?
You reckon it's a good bike to go for as your first one?
Krazykov Definitely a good one. Fast enough to keep you entertained but still manageable for a beginner. It is also comfortable at highway speeds.
I'm getting one soon. It will be my first bike. I'm graduating from the ruckus😅
Should I get this or the 300? Never drove a bike before but the 500 seems like one I could keep for longer
If that’s a question you’re asking yourself get the 500. The weight difference between the two is minimal given the low seat height but the difference in performance is substantial. The 300 will struggle at highway speeds and your fuel efficiency falls off a cliff above 55mph/90kph. I know because my wife rides the CB300F and that’s been my experience with Honda’s 300 engine. Good to learn on but if you don’t want to trade up within a year the 500 is your ride.
Yellowcardlive you’re exactly right about keeping longer. And the 500cc is not actually too much power, the first half of throttle is totally controllable. Just got mine today as my first bike, 500cc power is not terrifying at all.
Afraid of proof that you (May or may not) have been exceeding the speed limit ;) ? Maybe with a better seat, would I be able to cruise for a day or so?
No comment on the speed :) The stock seat seemed fine to me but I wasn't on the bike long enough to judge what a full day's ride would feel like. The position was comfortable enough with the pegs far enough back so that you could take some of the pressure off your butt. Either you break in the seat or it'll break you in. Lots of accessories available if you want more comfort though.
Hi there!
I got the cmx 500 in april and did a few rides for longer than just one day
No problem at all!
Honda Reble 500....2019....Love it.....
It's a Honda, and because of that it's not a Harley.
The flow of traffic on the interstate where I live is usually 75-80 mph. How well do you think it'll keep up at that speed, and do you think with a 185 pound guy (me) will still have decent passing power if I need it?
Honestly, it’ll keep up fine, but the passing power at that speed will be a bit soft. 471cc has it’s limits. If you need a cruiser that will do those speeds you might want to check out the Kawasaki Vulcan 650.
I live in Texas. It gets to 100mph just fine.
I did a steady 70 on the freeway with my 1995 rebel 250 i upgraded to a 2017 500. This bike can do anything freeway, city, lane splitting, taking sharp corners and it’s fuel efficient definitely recommend it as a do it all bike. The seat will suck long distance rides 4-5 hours plus.
Thanks for the info.
Shadow was preetier .
Here's my take... It's a street bike... not a track bike... taking a track bike on the street, sure, fun... easy to do illegal stuff... taking a street bike on the street... yeah... you can break the law... but the bike doesn't demand it... the bike is at 80% at the limit of road laws... did I out grow it? do i want a faster bike?... yes... of course.... but that's something that will never end... and the big plus, the rationality behind not getting a faster bike is... MPG... MMPPGG... highway... 70 mpg AVERAGE.... you can't beat that... it'll do 65 to 100 in like 5 seconds and it's happy to take deep turns... I'm happy with it... and I've put 15,000 miles on it... are there other faster or cooler bikes? sure... but this thing is full Honda... and it's a smart buy vs a dumb street bike buy
Agree. The only reason to get a sport bike is to take it to the track.
@@DifferentSpokesTV YO!... OP... thanks buddy... Love the content, keep it up, subscribed and everything man.... don't get me wrong... adrenaline is a hell of a drug... just use it in a controlled environments...you know?... I love it just the same as everyone else... just stop creating bad statistics for the rest of us and endangering other around you?... I've fell in love with bikes... and will ride till the day i die... BUT.... that won't be soon... cause... idk... logic? .... spread the word
Harley Davidson guys dislike this video
We all have our thing. I like Harleys and Hondas and all other brands as long as they’re good bikes. No point in being tied to a brand unless you own stock in it.
When your driving down Vetrains dr your supposed to stop at the casino🤣🤣🤣
Next time :)
Unfortunately they don't sell that girl in Turkey.
That sucks. There are lots of models that we don’t get in Canada. Do they sell the Kawasaki Vulcan S there? That’s another good choice.
100 mph or kmh
Kph
Oh ok😁
