I literally wanted a Honda Rebel for 30 yrs. I rented a Rebel and loved it riding around town and in country roads. Went in the Honda dealer and sat on the CB500X at the recommendation of the sales guy. I fell in love and have been riding my CB500X all over. I commute to work on her and take regional weekend trips. My Mercedes E-class wants a divorce.

I'm riding a CB500X, just turned 9,000 completely trouble free miles and about to replace the original tires. It's not perfect but does everything well. My 73 year old back probably wouldn't like the 500R, and I'm not a fan of "cruiser" bikes, don't like the riding position and too many functional compromises in the name of styling. The only attraction of the Rebel for me would be the lack of plastic body panels hiding all the mechanical bits. The only way I even know what the upper half of my 500X engine even looks like is by seeing Rebels at the dealership, and I'm not looking forward to doing the valve adjustment service in a few thousand miles. But these 500 Hondas are really good bikes for the money.

Maybe, you shouldn't be speeding with the other bigger bikes on the road and then, you'll won't have that issue of "keeping up" with them. Lol. My "cruiser" [formerly known as standard bikes] can keep up with any crotch rocket just as long as we're doing the city speed limit. Lol. You seem like a hater towards standard bikes.

This is a fantastic review! Tons of useful information, extremely well-organized, and delivered very well. Also very honest. Subscribed! I just got a brand-new '22 CB500X in the pearl green color - 4 days ago. What a bike!! I love it. I am an experienced rider with lots of offroad and street riding under my belt. I could see where the 500X might be suitable for easy dirt road use, but for anything more difficult than that offroad, I'll use my WR250R. The 500X will be a great bike for me to cruise the local highways, take some single-day adventure trips, and just enjoy what a motorcyle offers. Thanks for the great rundown!

As much as I like the looks of the CB500x, and large fuel tank capacity and better looking cluster meter than the rebel, I have no choice but to choose the Rebel 500. Unfortunately, I have a 27 inch in seam (if I remember correctly). Sure, some people would say that you can still ride it but with a dislocated knee cap and a lower back problem, I don't think I'll be taking the risk.
Anyway, thanks a bunch for the informative comparison.

I love the video, but why the heck are you bothering to cover up your speedo? The rider's face, VIN, and license number are not visible, so it could be anyone on any bike in any jurisdiction on any day at any time. I seriously doubt that this video is sufficient evidence for issuance of a citation, much less to actually hold up in court.

Owned the CB500F for 40k miles.
Having tried all the variants of the 500 platform, the F is definitely the most well-rounded as a daily rider. It’s too bad they’ve been discontinued here in the US.
The least competent of the lineup is between the Rebel and X due to their extreme suspension setups:
The Rebel unsurprisingly shares the same cramped seating position of the old Rebel 250 which gets uncomfortable on long rides. The CB500X’s high suspension makes city commuting (chiefly lanesplitting) more challenging than fun and very bouncy on spirited canyon rides.
Overall, Honda’s 500s are a joy to own and the F and R ergonomics pair perfectly with the engine’s performance.

    MAJOR 2022 UPDATE NEWS!
If Honda updated the 2021 CB500X, they really updated & actually made better the 2022 CB500 line. Today (Sept. 1st) Honda unveiled *_major_* improvements to it.

The 500x is one I'm looking at & I'm 5' 6" but I wonder if the suspension drops when you get on like so many other bikes seem
to do? I've seen one guy who purchased another center suspension spring off another bike that was much stiffer as he found
the 500x would bottom out fairly easy? IDKnow but I like the bike for several reasons, one of the biggest likes I have is that it
can do most of the Interstate speed limits in the United States. Being able to comfortably ride at 75MPH is necessary & being
able to do this w/o having to revv out the gearing to do so. A general rule is a bike that will go 100MPH at full revving will ride
at 75%(3/4) or 75MPH w/o revving so high that it vibrates you/bike too bad. Thanks for this review, I'm digging thru your stuff
    and appreciate the work(s). peace

Thank you for this comparison. I've been seriously considering going back to Honda after the clown show that Harley-Davidson has become and the cancellation of the Evo Sportster.
It would be interesting to see if there's much difference in the fuel economy between these 3 bikes. I would assume the CBR would have the best aerodynamics but that's not always the whole story with fuel economy.

I never understood group rides.... if you want to be with a bunch of friends, get a big SUV or a fifteen passenger van. If you want to be at one with the universe (or take your girl with to be at “two” with the universe), then get on a bike and go ride highway one from Big Sur to Columbia River gorge..... no friends necessary, they make you stop at the crappy restaurant you don’t like, they cut off traffic to keep up with you or slow down to stay with you, they need to stop at a gas station you don’t because they have a smaller tank or a bigger tank and didn’t fuel where you stopped to fuel cause they still had a third of a tank, etc., etc., etc......
I DO like to meet other friends with bikes at certain locations.... communal pit stops or communal bike chillaxing between rides, so to speak....
    IMHO

My wife has the CB300F and really likes it. I have a review of that bike done in the spring on my channel. I’ve never ridden the 500F but it’s probably similar but with more power. Both are good bikes but the 500F is probably more sporty. They’re both comfortable for long distance as well. I guess it depends whether you see yourself as a sporty rider or a cruiser. You’re tall enough for either one with no worries. Go to a dealer and sit on each one, see what excites you more. Good luck.

Rebel for the seating comfort, you won't have to grip the tank all the time, but it comes with smaller fuel tank to consider
Tons of aftermarket parts, maybe like a Harley Sportster. You will enjoy customizing your Rebel
500 F is the better performance-wise, but there aren't as many aftermarket options as it is not as popular as the 650 F or the 500 x
but honestly, Honda's 500 series are great commuter's bike. Just pick the one you "feel" right

    • @Rick_Sanchez_C137_
      @Rick_Sanchez_C137_ 4 роки тому +1

      Dee Larry
If in commuter traffic, go with the taller bike for the better view.... the commuters in cages are all texting and want to run you over on the way to work so they have something cool to discuss at the water cooler.... that is my opinion about why nobody should want a lower bike like the rebel unless it is a necessity dictated by their midget proportions....

All authors showing comparison makes people buy what author like - 500x is pick up point for this one, but! Thanks to the good comparison between all 3, and i think 500r is still good for any type of road ( with 0.13m clearance... when 500x has 0.17m only )

Back up the train, make the bike in the style of early seventies(1970’s). Put all the modern stuff in, leds, fuel inj., engine updates. Can’t say much for the air cooling(preferred by me).

I'd look for a leftover 2019 CB500F or a used one. It's not a chopper, race bike or dirt bike which makes it the best street bike. And that's probably why it didn't sell, it's not a Cosplay bike.

Ive just bought a cb500x 2015 model with 5000km on it , it seems to be able to handle traffic well is fairly light very nimble ,i am one of those height deprived people and find myself on the balls of my feet at the lights ok when the camber is shallow but would be a problem if it was steep, so i will be fitting a set of lowering plates .I could live with it but decided to try the plates see if it makes it more enjoyable in traffic all in all even though it is not the latest model it is a very nice medium bike for commuting and some light off road work as well .

Just over 3000km on my cbx500 , as a returned novice rider. At 6ft tall 85kg, I have no issues with the seat height or suspension. The nose dive under brakes is real. The slipper clutch is sweet as is the abs, top end pull. It doe get some vibes in the bars at 104km/ph but at 110 it fades away so im ok with that. Being a narrow bike, the wind comes in from the sides of the screen , although height adjustable it cant be eliminated completly. It has taken me some time to find my mojo on this bike but overall im very happy with it.

Tony Bland I’ve never ridden a CB500F but my wife owns a CB300F and I’ve both ridden and reviewed that bike. The 500 is probably similar to our’s but with a lot more power and torque. Out of all these bikes the F would probably be my second choice after the X.

Hy sir, i from indonesia, i like your video, good review👍🏻, but I want to ask, the prices for the cb500x and cb500f are quite different, with specifications that are not too far apart. if we want to use a motorbike to go out of town, not for adventurers. is it worth buying a cb500x motorcycle instead of a cb500f?
then, what if we buy a cb500f and then we modify it until the price is the same as the cb500x for use out of town. which one is more worthy?

    • @DifferentSpokesTV

I would definitely choose the CB500X to tour on. It's got the best weather protection, can tackle pavement or gravel, has a decent sized tank, can go two-up, and has lots of options for luggage. If you're tall enough it's the best all-arounder.

    • @DifferentSpokesTV
      @DifferentSpokesTV  4 роки тому

Robbie D You’re definitely tall enough for the X, especially if you get a used with the 17 inch wheels. I have a video on the CB500X from last summer and you can see my wife sitting on the new, taller one. She is on the balls of her feet and she is only 5’7”. If that’s the one you want go for it.
