Great vid. I run a 2006 Supercharged 4.2 V8 Vogue SE - the have a few electrical gremlins but most the faults clear owning one a major service is normally £600 and a minor £300. Tax is £360 mark and full comp insurance is around there (I even got full comp at £180) with one provider on a multi-car policy. I would say keep £500 to £1500 quid spare a year as they do go wrong but if driven well and looked after, after almost 12 years of ownership it is still a tidy motor. Tip, try to to leave them outside overnight as they are steel bodied and do rust particularly on the front of the rear wheel arches. But a good bodywork/coachwork specialist can weld in new panels. Bought mine at 86K not just over 130K still going strong. But looking at either a 4.4 TDV8 or a 4.4 SDV8 would like a 5.0 litre but mmm getting more sensible as I get older! I need a blue tooth module if anyone can lay there hands on one! Cheers.

Some good specialists in Cornwall. Full DTC chapter in the workshop manual. Free to down load on the full fat forum. The icar soft is good but not half as good as the GAP IID Bluetooth. Had both. Sold icar soft after a month. Had the IID for 5 years 😊

    To quote Saint.V8 on Landyzone…
I would be looking at the ABS sensor wiring as these have been known to chaff on the inside rim of the wheel, then either when the steering is turned or the car goes over a bump or the suspension rises and falls etc, causes the chaffed wire to make intermittent contact and bring about the system faults.
A quick check on diagnostics might show any logged faults and would be another good place to start.
When I first bought my L322 it kept having odd EAS and ABS/HDC/DSC faults and it turned out to be an ABS sensor wire had been worn through.....
Also, there are known faults with the Steering Angle Sensor, and this too and bring up the exact same fault messages on the dash - but generally if it is that then the lock to lock reset when changing batteries would not have worked!

Many thanks for the input! I’m leaning towards the abs sensor.. ones on order so will see if that solves it! All the best. Mike.

My L322 throws up random fault codes, keeps me one my toes! Most of them are nothing to worry about! Keep an eye on the condition of your battery as the l322 likes to eat it’s way through them! A low battery can cause all sorts of strange messages to pop up!
Hopefully this ABS is an easy fix!

    • @Nuecarautomotive

Yes most definitely they keep you on your toes! But I feel less anxious than my old discovery 3.. that was horrific for it! Thanks so much for the info, my battery was new in 2021 so I’d have thought it was ok? But I’ll try the abs sensor route then go from there! Cheers ! Mike

On a previous l322 I owned had similar faults. Wires for the steering angle sensor where they go into the head of the suspension turret Each time you turn a corner the wires flex a little. One of the wires had broken on the inside. Insulation appeared intact. Ends of the wire were touching on the inside but on full lock parted slightly creating a fault. A little piece of wire some solder and tape. Problem solved. Worth a check of those wires. Enjoy your Range Rover

Thanks a lot for the help! Turned out to be the ABS sensor at fault. My icarsoft was able to read the speed from each corner and offside right was reading zero.. so new sensor and all sorted! Thanks a lot. Mike

Buy the cheapest steering angle sensor from any low mileage bmw part that looks the same, think mine was from a mini. Replaced the inside spindle from the used part with the old post and then recalibrated it. You won't need to program the module that way. You'll need to recalibrate the steering to centre. Turning the wheel removes the lights but you'll still have a code hidden. I did this on an old x431 master code reader

On my 2005, I kept having "ABS sensors go bad" every 6-12 months. Then I took note that it was repeatedly the front left sensor. (Autozone's free code reading picks up the right sensor location.) It recently happened again on a long trip. When I looked under there, lo and behold: the blue sensor plug had simply become unplugged, probably because I didn't route the wire well the last time I replaced it.Then the lights came on again last week, even though the plug's still connected. I clicked it in tighter and all is well.
One distinction I might have observed the dash colors when "the trifecta" comes on: I used to have a red Brake light, which may have correlated to a bad ABS sensors. I noticed my more recent trifectas have been only amber, which seems to correlate to the loose plug. Maybe the computer can differentiate when the sensors is connected but bad vs when there's nothing plugged in?

I ended up buying 4 ABS sensors and all was cured, still enjoying my L322 4 years in nothing serious, I would also change the battery as well if it’s older than 3 years

Anyone quoting they have had six months of trouble-free motoring with an L322 Range Rover is going to be questioned as to the honesty of that statement. I understand the addiction but fortunately, I have managed to avoid it. Beautiful inside and out but a vehicle to be avoided at all costs.

Completely understand some people are stung with these cars. But I’m my 6+ months I’ve not had any major issues. That said, a minor setback after this time with an abs sensor. Which cost me £16 and 30 mins of my own time to fix. Thanks for your input, definitely understand these cars can be difficult. 👍

Hi there you can check the sensor by let the front wheel rotate by easy off roading and turn the steering till you get that alarm and if the power disterbuted to. Oth front wheel the sensor is good because l322 came with center and read diff lock but four wheel rotating by the sensor exactly like the 3amigo in disco 2 i mean HDC,EBD,ABS and TC the good thing is that the abs modulator in l322 is much netter than disco 2
    Wish you the best
And welcome to the class of landrover future mechanic
And thank you landrover for teaching us how to repaire iur car by our selves😂😂
Disco 2 and l322 owner they saide one landy is not enough 🥴

More than likely abs sensor, had the same issue on my td6, mine was front right, ended up cutting abs sensor flush with hacksaw and using 16mm drill to gently drill it out, they do get seized in. Steering angle sensor is possible, known weak point but not to bad to replace, more back breaking as the working position is uncomfortable. Both easy jobs though.

    • @Nuecarautomotive

Great stuff thanks for the input! Really appreciate it. I felt a slight hesitation with the abs earlier as soon as light came on I could feel a flutter under the brake peddle so yes my thinking too towards the abs sensor. ! Cheers! Mike

@@Nuecarautomotivesame as me, i had it where a slight touch would activate abs and feel like it won’t stop, for the few days I used it until new part arrived I used to set off on my street, when there was no one around and bang brakes on, this would bring on the abs light and deactivate abs but least I had normal brakes (just without abs), before you swap the sensor, pour some brake fluid or ATF over it each day for few days, you may have a chance of it coming out, if not hacksaw flush and drill out, mark Drill bit with some tape against new sensor, drill mostly out then use small screwdriver or pick to pull out what’s left, try not to hit the reluctor ring. Clean hole up with course emery cloth and plenty of grease and new sensor in, no need for code clearing, once sensor is working the car will clear that fault as it’s not a hard fault.
