Your concise delivery and laid back style are engaging mate, really enjoying your videos. Much better than a lot of overenthusiastic channels with millions of subscribers.
I also agree with Craig, such a calm voice and also convincing.I would love a Range Rover but I just know that my wife wouldn’t have it🤣 I have never been in one but people say they are so amazing.
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
I owned a L322 Vogue from 2006-2009 and in 4 years - doing all the services - it never ever let me down. Am now looking into a 2012 Westminster and am planning to drive it as long as I possibly can... Magnificent Cars and the driving experience is simply second to none for a car this size...
@@HighPeakAutos Are we certain there wasn't an Autobiography model then? LR introduced the Autobiography package in the 90's but I'm not sure when it because a model variant. It just seems like an awful lot of work to do instead of buying an Autobiography model.
I've had 3 Range Rovers over the last 10 years. I would agree that recent service history is essential. Also, a high mileage, 140k or above, is better as most things that have gone wrong will have been done. Especially look out for gearbox replacement around the 115k to 130k mark, and allow at least £3k for this, not the £1.5k as this otherwise spot on video suggests. Oh, and never expect EVERYTHING to work at any given time.....something will ALWAYS need attention.
The problem is that people think that they can buy a car that was originally £80K for £8K and think it will be perfect…. If you are paying 10% of an items original value what do you expect…. Rule of thumb make sure you have £1500 - £2000 spare after purchase…. An independent specialist service history is better than main dealer and if it doesn’t have a full service history move along plenty more out there…..
Ive owned lots of Range rovers over the years Classics, p38s L322 3.0 td6's 3.6tdv8s and a 4.4 tdv8 and as we all know they can have there problems. They where all used for very heavy towing and off road work on the estate. I can assure you they all had there own little problems but at the end of the day I felt confident that in any situation i was in the best car for the job ( basically in a working situation if the Range Rover cant do it... noting can and we can call it a day). Its basically the best tool money can buy.
I agree. Theres not much else out there that can do everything you need it to on a farm, use it as a work horse, then wash it and drive into the city in it and still turn heads
UK drivers should be focused on getting their useless politicians to repair the horrendous potholes, cracks and uneven roads. They definitely need maintaining you have the worst roads in Europe, along with Bulgaria’s!
How refreshing to have a balanced and honest review on Range Rovers, with of course good advice included. I did exactly as you described when I bought my 2008 Rang Rover 3.6 TD V8 Vogue, I ended up using my local Indy independent service dealer, a week after purchase they went all way through it, okay some money changed hands but nothing too troubling and I had budgeted for such an outcome. I've owned mine now in it's 6th year, I've had the starter, alternator and brakes changed over that time, so nothing out of the ordinary for a 12 year car IMHO. I've often mentioned to wife when I shuffle this mortal coil they can bury my Range Rover with me : -)
Hi Jack...That made me smile.... I NEARLY bought a RR with a aftermarket diesel in it many moons ago..... I quite liked it, initially. But I backed off in the end....it was so slow.... I was being flashed by Reliant Robins wanting to pass!
Your channel is my first call when: 1. Information on cars is needed. 2. Entertainment on cars is needed. As has been stated below your laid back style and down to Earth opinion are very refreshing. Your sentiments regarding the maintenance of cars is perfectly true. I’ve been a long time company car driver and my last one, a 67 Honda CRV had a Honda FSH( partly paid by me as I took the lease over) and had never missed a beat in 4 years and 94k miles. It’s my experience that with a few exceptions the average cost of maintaining a car is relatively constant - Super cars, Bentleys etc being the exceptions. Keep it up, sir.👍🏻 Now an owner of an 06 Freelander 1 and a proud owner of a 2000 XK8 Coupe.
Great to hear your honest comments on the old lady. I’ve got a 2005 RR HSE in Dubai, my daily drive and take it every weekend to the desert! She loves it and we have a great time off roaring. One thing for sure, there’s no other 14 year old car I’d rather be driving!
Thanks for your comments! That sounds like fun! I bet it's nice to run in Dubai when the fuel is so cheap. I agree, theres no other 14 year old car I'd enjoy as much either.
Great video! I've had 3 Range Rovers and all have been incredibly reliable. My first one was the V8 petrol like yours and I put a lpg conversion on it, and achieved equivalent of 34 mpg over 5 years.
Stuart Mason Thanks for your comments. They’re great cars. A Gas conversion would be the sensible thing to do with this one. I’m surprised it hasn’t been done already actually, it would make more sense 👍🏻
Fantastic review. I’m sick of seeing such negative comments about L322. It’s the same with anything, if you look after it, you’ll be fine. Don’t care for it, expect to be in your pocket. Had one for about a year now with no faults what so ever. I love it.
Excellent video and yes, I am a range rover junkie. changed my 20 year old P38 6 years ago for a 2005 L322 and although its been an excellent car I should have spent a little on the P38 because their was nothing wrong with it! The one I have now is the vouge SE 3.0L deisel and although I hear a lot of people calling it, its been a realy good car. Had a few "age related problems" air bags, speed sensors, air compressor ect, but what would you expect from what is now a 16 year old car. I expect this car will still look great, still run smooth and responsive and still be in my posesion in 5 years time! not sure you could say that about other makes of suv's.
I recently worked at a Jag/Landrover dealer and when i left it was like being released from prison. Their cars are really that bad across the full range. The 4.4 petrol is a good engine by the way
I have defenderitis, it's slow, hot in the summer cold in the winter, cramped, has low mpg, uncomfortable and generally expensive to run but!!! I love driving it. Enjoy the Rangie. 😀
I had a defender this time last year (when we had a lot of snow). The heater didn't work. The tyres were that chunky you couldn't put full lock on. It was noisy. The cab smelled of diesel fumes and it was cramped. But I loved it and want another!! Makes no sense
We have 2 1985 defenders with lift up handles 1 fitted with 200tdi And 1 with a 300tdi which is having a galvanised chassis done soon and a 1995 discovery 1 I purchased from a scrap yard 11 years ago as a temporary runaround that's only needed welding every year the defenders we use when the children are at home from school now being fitted with a planner heater for 134 quid so all good trips out in the no more cold. when we go out we shopping it was cheaper to run and hp a 1.6 vauxhall astra 61 reg a month than keep landrovers in diesel
“Range Rover ITIS”!..... “ Sense of Occasion when you are on it” .... “Regal and majestic” LOVE IT!!!! that’s Gold... nicely put... that’s the same sentiment about my used 2014 Jag XJL. Thanks for the video,
Sorry to yakel on re this channel but this chap talks so much sense No need to listen to anyone else just pure common sense in abundance well done yet again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I owned a 54 plate 4.4 for just over a year used to average 15.4 mpg this was my only car at the time and absolutely loved it I will be having another newer one in time. Only 2 things went wrong in the time I owned it front off side air strut really easy to replace yourself only cost £175 with 3 years warranty and rear parking sensors and that was it would have it back in a heartbeat and your absolutely spot on make sure you have spare cash because inevitably something would go wrong but if you love the car you couldn’t care less what you spend!
I see from the info above that you are creating video's for people interested in the used car industry. I think that you would be (or are) a great used car appraiser for the general public on a one to one basis. I feel that not only the potential buyer would be well catered for, the seller would accept your honest and plain approach to car dealing. Very well done video's, love these passing the time during this horrible pandemic thing.
just my 2 pence worth😉 I have had a few range rover,s and lots of half decent car,s.. long and shot of it, is in my opinion the range rover is about the best, all round car there is... that said, it will let you down at some point, lots🙄 , ie gear box, air ride, air compresser, air lines, ball joints, antirollbar links, wheel bearings, steering rack, and more .. I was offered a very very clean one the other day, nice diesel one in black, it was In need of a altonator and from what I could tell that was all, but I still said no,, he only wanted 2k. but if you have your heart set on one, then I would buy a cheap but clean one and spend 2 to 3 k on it. then it's well well worth getting, like a fit girlfriend , looks good, your mates and every one else are envious, but the truth is, she's a FUCKING nightmare to live with and you only get to fuck it now and then.., most the time she's just doing ya nut in 😤😂😂
You’re so right, I have 2 of them! 2003 and 2005, and I’m keeping them! They could be quite expensive to repair, however with UA-cam and eBay and the perfect scan tools, I’ve saved a lot of money. A lot of Range Rover research are listed on line, even how to program keys.
English cars are like Russian women, they have a mind of their own , and when you neglect their needs they will make you suffer, at the same time they will make you suffer for your own needs for no reason. If you want something special there will be a price for it, if you are not willing to pay that price then its not special enough for you. I love English cars,, Russian woman , Scottish whisky. They have that little extra taste to it beyond rational definition. And if you never had a taste of it you will never understand.
From North Carolina, USA, I really like these videos. I will get one one day but your delivery is spot on which makes these videos feel like you’re riding with a knowledgeable, humble friend.
Range Rovers? Stylistically I can take 'em or leave 'em - horses for courses, but I will confess the ability to see over drystone walls and cars of lesser stature is a very seductive one. Even so, give me my 05 plated 3.0 S type any day. A 79 year old petrolhead's wet dream!
I've never had a Range Rover, but I've always liked them, in my opinion, you will always hear stories about most cars whatever they are, because of faults, defects etc, it goes with the territory really, that looks like a really nice one whether it's an autobiography or not, as you said, it's had a lot of money spent on it, if you look after a car, it'll look after you, I had a wee chuckle when you said that 111,000 miles isn't really that high a mileage for a 2005 car, I've got a 2003 car which I bought in 2005 and it's still only done 45,000 miles, if I didn't have a car and I had a choice of buying Range Rover, I would probably go for it despite all the sob stories and the low miles per gallon.
We have two RR and absolutely love them. We have had very few issues in the 13 yrs/8yrs that we had them. I think the problem is that there are very few qualified mechanics in the US that know how to take care of them.
I have had five Range Rovers and, despite some typical issues, I’ve loved them all. My current workhorse is a sixteen year old TD6 with 134,000 miles on the clock. Cost me £4,500 and is comfortable, cavernous, tows like a train and has stopped depreciating....what’s not to like?
I love mine people are always looking at mine and saying how lovely it looks for an 11 year old car. Had it a year and all I've spent on it is £200 for rear brake pipes replaced that were corroded. My dad had original range rovers and as a kid told him I would own one one day and I have stuck to my word and bought one. Shame he is no longer with us to see me with mine. I will keep mine as long as possible.
Hi thanks for reply I have the baby one the 2.7 v6 sport model in silver but previous owners have colour coded all the bottoms of bumpers doors and handles and mirrors so looks awesome compared to black and silver. To be fair I do work in a Volkswagen dealership so I do get repairs and servicing cheaper so will use that to my advantage to keep mine on the road for as long as possible. Thank you.
I have owned Audi's for the last twenty years, last month I bought ten year old RRS L320 3.0V6, I absolutely love her! The only thing I need now is an update for the Navi but I cannot find one unless I visit the main dealer!. Everything else has been changed, brakes all round, full service, auto box oil change, steering fluid, she drives like a dream!
We recently switched from a MK5 R32 to a Vogue due to an expanding family. I had alot of the views that alot of people have (unreliable, fragile, expensive to fix all the time etc) but so far it's only cost me £23 to fix the air suspension and about £50 to sort the pixels in the dash. I'm still not completely sold on it but I'm not a huge fan of 4x4's in general. But, I am slowly understanding why people love them and I'm enjoying it. Yes they're utterly abismal on fuel (even coming from the R32) but it's a fair price to pay for this much equipment and being such a nice play to cart the kids around in.
Hilarious! I just bought an '05 with 111K miles. I really loved your way of explaining things. It does feel like a special occasion to get into it. I could have bought an XC90 (ugly in my opinion), a Q7 V8 4.2 (felt really slow and plain looking), an X5 (horrible reviews wherever I looked) or some incredibly boring American or Japanese model. The only car I strongly considered over the RR was a Touee.....Tuoa....Towr....whatever...a VW SUV but it just didn't feel very special. The headliner is sagging in the back ($500 fix!) so I'll leave that as is for now. The only thing that doesn't work is the driver's seat headrest (electrically adjusted). Otherwise, it's a real pleasure to drive and look at!
@@davidgrahambrown3793 some of the people I know who were owners are haters then. I have no proof. I'm an ex owner myself. I'm not a hater. I just think it's a car for an optimist!
Everything you said about the car made me smile , heated seat, rust on the wheel arch and boot , rear wiper, and the sunroof staying open , I have all those things on mine . 2002 bought new , 230k all done by me , 21 years of owning my baby . Absolutely love it , I still drive it to Spain every summer and touch wood never lets me down. I service it twice a year by a local mechanic , on my 3rd gearbox 😅 . I will keep it forever. I’m going get all the little things done just need to find the right person to get it all up to scratch again ❤❤❤
In New Zealand Range Rovers are just a status symbol, few barely go off-road. The local joke here is "what's the difference between a Range Rover and a hedgehog ?? With a hedgehog, the pricks are on the outside 🤣🤣🤣"
I live in rural Australia, im on my 2nd Rangey. A super capable comfortable off roader. Mine gets hammered. Do 90% of work on it myself. Gotva diagnostic tool too. Most faults are service issues, ie: compressor dryer recharge, normal wear n tear stuff. At over 200k kms ive had no more issues than any other 4x4 ive owned. My friend has beemers and has way more bigger issues than me(scary engine n computer stuff)... mines got the 4.4 jag v8, one of the best donks ever. My thoughts? If your not handy with tools n cant google or youtube stuff dont get one( or any other car for that matter) Just do what it needs when it needs it.. Other than that I love it. Best analogy I ever heard was its like having an intelligent classy super model wife whos a bit neurotic from time to time..... worth the effort.
I love the idea of owning a rangey (to many friends who have owned them have negative feedback for the brand and the cars ) people dislike them (general statement ) because after over 50 years of the Range Rover marque being around , land Rover are still turning out way to many unreliable cars for it to be a fluke; They have crap dealerships that mainly deliver poor customer experiences , expensive ownership (mainly due to reliablity and fault issues ) . I get it's a luxury product for people with a lot of money to buy and run , but I don't think it unreasonable to expect less off the aforementioned ownership experiences not after over 50 years to get it right ? Contrast that with Lexus (designs and desireability aside ) they make a gold standard product with a gold standard ownership experience and gold standard dealers ...I know this for a fact as I have experienced it for myself as have associates and friends , now if lexus had Land Rovers design language coupled with their clear strengths as a brand they truly would be the default choice for buyers in this sector P.S great analogy between buying a range Rover or a british made printer really illustrated the point of your upload brilliantly .
Holy crap. With your several Range Rover vids you now have me considering one. I've had about 60 cars & bikes over the years. Was thinking of replacing my 530d Beemer with an E70 X5 but a diesel Range Rover could be worth it just for the experience. Nowhere near the same availability here in New Zealand but there are still plenty. Oh dear, I'd just got up to speed with the electronics & mechanicals in the E61.
High Peak Autos Yeah it'd have to be. Can't imagine it with the BMW 3.0d. I also have a 330d wagon with fundamentally the same engine and that weighs only 1.6tons. A ton less!
I have a Discovery 4, and I flippin love it. Thing is people won't spend the money maintaining these cars. Bought mine just as it needed the timing belts doing. Since then I've done loads of preventative maintenance on it, a gearbox flush, water pump, compressor rebuild, suspension bushes, discs and pads etc etc and it's never given me a minutes bother. You can't drive a 2.5 ton car around without wearing stuff out. I'm of the same opinion as you. By the time they get to six years old, they've had all the software updates, and most things that will go wrong already have done. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Disco or a Rangie, but I'd struggle to recommend one to a friend... That said my brother had two consecutive Toyota Avensis estates, and both of them were a complete nightmare. My dad has had a few older Lexus', and he's had his share of problems with those too. Used cars are a gamble, plain and simple. The difference is when a Range Rover goes wrong, (and I'm generalising here) it costs a grand to fix. When it needs discs and pads, it'll cost a grand, when it needs a big service, it'll cost a grand. You can't run one on a shoestring. You buy one knowing that It'll cost you sooner or later and you'll be fine. Personally, it's such a good family car I don't mind the running costs anyway.
Thanks for your comments. It pays to maintain them properly. By the sounds of it, if you keep looking after yours like you have, it should last a long time. I'm in and out of cars all day long and there isn't a single brand that I could whole heartedly recommend. Most used cars have some issues. I've had lots of issues with BMW and Mercedes, but also my fair share from Japanese brands, so I honestly think they're all as bad as one another. You might as well just drive what you want and enjoy it and get on with it when something breaks (which is inevitably will).
Have spent over £5000 on repairs for my RR sport 2011 last year , more than i have paid for some cars , but i love it so much i would buy anther one tomorrow.
I've owned two Range Rovers a three door and four door both diesel . Never really had any major problems with either of them. They're very comfortable and a joy to drive. Before the Range Rovers I owned a Land Rover series 111 109 van back. Probably one of the best motors I've ever owned, still miss it to this day.
Never seen a 54 with that front end !! Then you explained ! love your style of presentation and knowledge, would describe it a sarcastically good. Iam in the love them group so get it.
from Fraser, husband of Leslie The biggest problem with these, like so many costly up-market SUVs etc is they depreciate so us lower orders can afford to buy them, but the spares and maintenance costs remain at their original levels. So they can be very expensive to repair and maintain. Maintenance will include replacing suspension and other parts and it is in this area that maybe Land Rover let the side down. You can have reliability, but really you also need Durability and Maintainability too
Ahh, low profile tyres/enormous wheels on a 4x4. How this dumb fashion caught on is beyond me. Why the hell would you do that to a car designed to go anywhere and everywhere in luxurious comfort? 🥴
I’m with you on the slight obsession side. I haven’t had trouble free running from my 2007 tdv8 but it has been minor niggles which are easily outweighed by the immense driving pleasure and for as long as I can afford the running - I’ll never drive anything else. They are unbeatable !
Is there anyone else doing car videos like this? Not that I've seen. Comes across like one of your mates who's taking you along for a test drive and being honest about its plus and minus points. (God help me, I've even looked on Autotrader for an old Lexus IS 200 Sport.) In an age of slick production it's great to be able to watch informed and entertaining stuff like this. Keep up the GREAT work!
Thanks very much! I appreciate your support - I'm only an amateur so there won't be any slick productions anytime soon - I'm useless with editing etc...
Add one to the 50% who love the RR. I have 2 of them, one with the BMW V8 petrol engine and the other with the Jaguar Supercharged petrol V8. They are definitely more reliable than any of the Mercs I have owned. I had both of them ceramic coated.
Whoever penned these cars and put them into production got it completely right !! I owned a 2008 vogue and absolutely fell in love with the RR. I now own a BMW X5 and it is supremely reliable well built and all round dependable. ... Only one problem, I have never got the range rover out of my system and after owning one I can't see anything matching up to it. I'm hooked !!
I've just bought a new Mercedes GLC 250d and we are delighted with it ( apart from the colour black ) should have gone for a lighter colour ,that said it performs very well given its ( l think ) 2.3 litre 4cyl engine but always look with envy when a new Range Rover drives past , what presence /style and class !! Also twice the cost . Great vid as usual thanks.
david kenyon Thanks. I love the look of the GLC, I’ve not driven one but all new Mercs are nice to drive. I think the GLC is one of the best looking models size 4x4 available. I rented a GLE a couple of years ago and was really impressed with it, so much so I didn’t want to give it back
I'm fighting it but failing, I think I'm getting Range Roveritus, more sport model but still seriously harmful to wallet and common sense. Love the review. Great real world information, well balanced and always humorous.
Your analogy about the printer is spot on. I'm a car guy / motor-head, and my wife wants an appliance... get in, do groceries, errands, etc. I love the quirkiness of all of the different brands. I'm an old fart living in Ottawa, Canada and Have owned over 30 cars (may not seem to be a lot, but, like I said, when you wife wants an appliance it can be a challenge.) I agree with all your other commentators, keep up the good work, I love your channel.
Congratulations on the purchase. I hope you enjoy it further! Great video as always - concise and straight to the point; perfect length and amount of info. You deserve more viewers.
35 years in the trade, believe me, the reason they get a bad rap is because they go wrong "alot" and cost a small fortune to run and maintain, especially the V8's..... You've got a good one, and probably paid for the privilege of that .... just go on AT or Ebay and go down the list of broken, spares or repairs adverts to see the real truth of owning a 15 year old Rangy .....good luck folks, boy are you going to need it.
@@jackshotton9222 it's not about maintenance, Truly lost count of the amount I've owned, I've had them with thousands, and i do mean thousands of pounds worth of Main Agent Receipts, and still they break, constantly, and expensively, yes they are an institution, and yes they look the part and have a sense of style all their own, but same age 10 year old BMW / Toyota Land Cruiser / Audi Q7 leave them standing if we're talking reliability..... Fact.
Picking up RR Vogue tomorrow. 3.0td6 130k miles full Main Dealer Service History. Quite excited. Replacing my 2006 RRSport which I wrote off just before last Christmas
Due to emigrating I had to sell my 06 vogue. 130k miles.had it 3 years and had the usual suspension loss a couple of times etc.Absolutely loved it. Just seemed to waft along.all electrics were working including the heated steering wheel. It wasn't cheap to own but a joy to drive.
🤔Nice Range Rover, the interior is original and it has the upgraded optional front seats. I can tell by the head rests. All of the interior is original except the after market rear entertainment. And the exterior is a 2006 supercharged front fascia with the supercharged rear tail lights. Supercharged wheels as well. Who ever did the update did a great job.🤩 Even the Navi is original, they came out with it in 2005. The 03-04 has the BMW navigation and it looks very old. ENJOY 🍾, as you know there’s nothing like a Range Rover .
Somebody has done a great job with it. I didn't expect the Nav to be upgraded. Like you said the BMW system is very old - looks like something you'd find in an ancient egyptian tomb. Haha
On the early BMW navy systems you can do a straight swap for the BMW MK4 dvd unit and flash the latest BMW firmware (with a land rover logo) and get up to date maps. The only thing you lose us the off road navigation. You can also straight swap in the BMW digital TV and with a couple of wiring mods a BMW Bluetooth unit.
I redline my 2003 Lexus GS300 regularly, passing BMWs and Audis. It doesn't break. Ok, it's only got 220bhp, but still. I can get the consumption down to 15 on short journeys in Winter. It's going soon, while it still works, probably getting a GS450h.
Man you are so right... I have got the Range Rover itis... Just got a 2007 L322 and I'm stuck but a bit nervous about what repairs may come up but willing to take my chances.. Runs good, smooth. and looks good in and out.. No engine light or warning lights other than side light and plate light.. Looking for a mechanic to just go through and recommend things to do now to maintain it.. Been wanting this truck for over 15 years.. Nice video..
I really appreciate your video. Initially I thought it was another “hate” or “Don’t buy this truck for any reason” video... but you pointed out very good things and comparisons to help the viewer understand the ownership should one buy a truck like this. I have a 2012 RR HSE and I love my truck regardless of the minor issues. It is our weekend truck and drive it occasionally.
Another enjoyable video. Remember them coming out in 1970 when I was 10 year old. £1998 i believe. Never managed to get one yet but you never know. Take care and stay safe.
Whatever people say or think or believe about Range Rovers what is abundantly clear about them is you will not find any other 4×4 with that much Class on the roads today
Great video, nice car. I think the simple way of telling whether there is a BMW engine or a Jaguar/Ford engine is to look at the C pillar. If wide then BMW, if narrow then newer generation of engines. It is not realistically possible or indeed worthwhile to retrofit the touchscreen.
I have almost purchased a pre-owned Range Rover several times, until I was quoted the price of an extended warranty which ran 25%-40% the price of the vehicle. That's scary.
I've had the Classic and now have had the P38 for 20 years. The cost per year, all expenses included, is far less than the average driver who buys a new car every few years. Had a large deer show up in the highway on a rainy night. I was going 60 mph and had to make a quick choice whether to swerve to avoid it, or not. I knew there was a good chance of rolling over, but I swerved because I knew the pillars are solid and the roof wouldn't crush in on me. Came very close to rolling over, since it was a bit of a hill, but was OK. Well worth the price!
Had 2 Range Rover sports a 2005 one and after that a 2008 one and they were the most unreliable piles of junk that I have ever had the pleasure to own they spent more time back at our local landrover dealer than on my drive, both had full landrover service history and the second one I bought was a landrover approved used and that was as bad as the first , I used to run 110 diesels for years and had very few problems even had 2 Freelanders with no problems including a 1.8 petrol but those range rovers put me off for good and have moved on to Japanese ,Mitsubishi Outlander phev and a Nissan navara and have had no problems to date and they are not new the outlander 5 years old and the Navara 8 years old
I hear what you're saying but I think all used cars in general are unreliable. It's a minefield really. I've had a Navara with a blow head gasket. Another Navara with blow turbo. Plus the issue that they have with the weak chassis where they can bend and break. I've also had an Outlander with a broken gearbox, another with a dodgy flywheel (at 30k), and another that needed a new steering rack and a new turbo. I'm not sure what the answer is really. It's not very comforting to say that its just the luck of the draw, but that might be the case.
You are totally right about the part that any car which is that old will have some issues to be expected. But the main difference I think lies within how many issues between different brands
A great video about Range Rover ownership/addition! You either get it and you're prepared to put up with 13.4mpg (eek!) or you're don't. But don't knock it as they are great vehicles. Try one with the diesel V8 - a flyer and 25 mpg. That sounds just the ticket to me.
I drive a 55 R/R in London. It's got a supercharger and if I drive it like a hearse, I can sometimes achieve 12 mpg. Every day I get at least three alarm warnings which usually go away after an hour or so; and sometimes it randomly decides to shift into low range - once on the motorway. It's a piece of junk, and I love it. Especially as Ranger Rover were early adopters of the new emission levels. So I don't have to pay the ULEZ charge.
I got a 2012 L322 with the 4.4Tdv8 and i absolutely love it. Of course it has had it's faults but I am in love with it. Having the IID Tool diagnostics is making ownership a breeze. Any issues can easily be diagnosed and fixed easily.
Becoming my one of my favorite car reviewers fella. Really getting good at these.
Thank you!
Agreed!

I owned a L322 Vogue from 2006-2009 and in 4 years - doing all the services - it never ever let me down. Am now looking into a 2012 Westminster and am planning to drive it as long as I possibly can... Magnificent Cars and the driving experience is simply second to none for a car this size...
I've had 5 and spent a small fortune on repairs on all of them. But I was hooked loved all of them.
Yeah. Something about them that makes you want one. Can't believe how much money has been spent on the updates.
Probably more than the car is worth
Is it really that bad as ppl say I just love it tough x5 q5 looks so chavy no class ..lex us Is reliable but its damn funking ugly it hurts my eyes
Jesus, going senile, XC90, was looking at vintage cars but a Vauxhall VX90 is not for me 😆
The problem is that people think that they can buy a car that was originally £80K for £8K and think it will be perfect…. If you are paying 10% of an items original value what do you expect…. Rule of thumb make sure you have £1500 - £2000 spare after purchase…. An independent specialist service history is better than main dealer and if it doesn’t have a full service history move along plenty more out there…..
Good advice which is really applicable to all second hand cars: you benefit from mind-numbing depreciation but have to account for wear and tear.

ParraTech Solutions Paranormal crew Hi, how many miles at time of purchase?
How refreshing to have a balanced and honest review on Range Rovers, with of course good advice included. I did exactly as you described when I bought my 2008 Rang Rover 3.6 TD V8 Vogue, I ended up using my local Indy independent service dealer, a week after purchase they went all way through it, okay some money changed hands but nothing too troubling and I had budgeted for such an outcome. I've owned mine now in it's 6th year, I've had the starter, alternator and brakes changed over that time, so nothing out of the ordinary for a 12 year car IMHO. I've often mentioned to wife when I shuffle this mortal coil they can bury my Range Rover with me : -)
Thats exactly how you should approach RR ownership. Good stuff
I had a 1979 RR with a Perkins Diesel engine in it, it was a monster I honestly believed it would have crawled up Everest !
Hi Jack...That made me smile.... I NEARLY bought a RR with a aftermarket diesel in it many moons ago..... I quite liked it, initially.
But I backed off in the end....it was so slow.... I was being flashed by Reliant Robins wanting to pass!

Keep it up, sir.👍🏻

I love it.
I agree! Even a Toyota won't last if you abuse it and don't maintain it properly

English cars are like Russian women, they have a mind of their own , and when you neglect their needs they will make you suffer, at the same time they will make you suffer for your own needs for no reason.
If you want something special there will be a price for it, if you are not willing to pay that price then its not special enough for you.

I been loving the Range Rover for years but the latest reviews really got my thinking .
Your Car wittiness is Unmatched!! You my favorite Reviewer!! this is from a fan suffering from Chronic Ranger Rover-itis

I’ve always been obsessed with range rovers, and 2 years ago I finally bought an evoque. I absolutely love it, and will stay loyal to the brand
Good choice!
Doug M Exactly! I couldn’t agree more. You might as well use it and enjoy it. It’s better at doing a lot of tasks than most other cars
Whats a typical issue. Please.
I had an L322 3.2 V8 Range Rover, the best car I ever had, 28-32 mpg, and pure comfort - great vids keep them going
Lord daniel gibbons Thanks for sharing your comments. They’re great cars. Which model do you have?
Hi thanks for reply I have the baby one the 2.7 v6 sport model in silver but previous owners have colour coded all the bottoms of bumpers doors and handles and mirrors so looks awesome compared to black and silver. To be fair I do work in a Volkswagen dealership so I do get repairs and servicing cheaper so will use that to my advantage to keep mine on the road for as long as possible. Thank you.
I colour coded the last 2.7 Sport I had too. Subtle but looks much better
Pleased to hear it!
I love them, mine is 17 years old and has been reliable and runs on LPG os it doesn't cost a fortune to run
I agree. Thanks for your comments :)
Is it diesel as well or petrol.?
SOON - you will regret not buying the "T".
It will be on account of your wallet!

In New Zealand Range Rovers are just a status symbol, few barely go off-road. The local joke here is "what's the difference between a Range Rover and a hedgehog ?? With a hedgehog, the pricks are on the outside 🤣🤣🤣"

I heard the same joke 30 years ago .... in respect of the Ford XR3i. Yawn.
Contrast that with Lexus (designs and desireability aside ) they make a gold standard product with a gold standard ownership experience and gold standard dealers ...I know this for a fact as I have experienced it for myself as have associates and friends , now if lexus had Land Rovers design language coupled with their clear strengths as a brand they truly would be the default choice for buyers in this sector
P.S great analogy between buying a range Rover or a british made printer really illustrated the point of your upload brilliantly .
Get the TDV8!
High Peak Autos Yeah it'd have to be. Can't imagine it with the BMW 3.0d. I also have a 330d wagon with fundamentally the same engine and that weighs only 1.6tons. A ton less!
Did you talk the talk & buy one?
Hahaha - I sooo understand you and this is the cutest L322 review I've seen
You wouldn't put up with any other car if it cost you as much as that. I'm the same. Its strange haha. Whats gone wrong with yours to cost £5k?
@@HighPeakAutos its having too much money... that's whats wrong with his.
I've owned two Range Rovers a three door and four door both diesel . Never really had any major problems with either of them. They're very comfortable and a joy to drive. Before the Range Rovers I owned a Land Rover series 111 109 van back. Probably one of the best motors I've ever owned, still miss it to this day.

from Fraser, husband of Leslie
The biggest problem with these, like so many costly up-market SUVs etc is they depreciate so us lower orders can afford to buy them, but the spares and maintenance costs remain at their original levels.
Yes, and after a while the inside rim of the wheels starts to crack because the wheels are too weak.
I’m with you on the slight obsession side. I haven’t had trouble free running from my 2007 tdv8 but it has been minor niggles which are easily outweighed by the immense driving pleasure and for as long as I can afford the running - I’ll never drive anything else. They are unbeatable !
I agree! Thanks for your comments
If you love your mechanic get a RR. I love them, keep me busy :)
I am firmly in the "Love" camp. I have always been a fan, in spite of the issues they sometimes have I'd get one over any of the competition.
You know what they say, if you have an itch, you have to scratch it!
Thanks! Appreciate your comments. I think life is too short to have an appliance for a car - I'd rather have something with some soul

Picking up RR Vogue tomorrow. 3.0td6 130k miles full Main Dealer Service History. Quite excited. Replacing my 2006 RRSport which I wrote off just before last Christmas
I’m very surprised that turning the printed on and off didn’t work lol
Me too! That always works for everything else haha
When they're working, theres nothing better
Love them but hate the repair bills 😳
And the fuel bills!
One of the seat elements will be open circuit. Take seat out and you can get to the wires real easy. Test them and link out the open pad.
My p38a Range Rover takes me everywhere and remains loyal 👍 I bleed green for land rovers!
Pleased to hear it! I've had several P38's. Have you got a petrol or diesel?
High Peak Autos 4.6L petrol!
@@Brycereigle2000 Great choice - that's what I had. Absolutely loved!
Well done good choice !! Have a Range Rover Autobio . Super car !! Enjoy !!
Thanks! Great cars :)
Thanks for watching! I don't understand how people can hate these cars. They're not perfect but they are in a league of their own :)
High Peak Autos good point ..I agree that it truly goes “Above and Beyond” now more than ever ..
Guilty. Against all wisdom from my brothers, I bought a 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. 11 MPG. Endless quirks. Love it more everyday.
Good for you! Enjoy it!
Another enjoyable video. Remember them coming out in 1970 when I was 10 year old. £1998 i believe. Never managed to get one yet but you never know. Take care and stay safe.
Full Blown Range Roveritis 😂😅
Good one !
Good vid! Your spot on about Rangeroveritus!! I have Jagitus!! Which has always stopped me buying one!!
Haha I suffer with both ailments
Whatever people say or think or believe about Range Rovers what is abundantly clear about them is you will not find any other 4×4 with that much Class on the roads today
I agree!
Range Rover's scream....I am considerably richer than thou! That's what the haters hate! It's not the car, it's the people driving them.
Thats probably true with new ones. The green eyed monster takes over
It's actually ... considerably richer than yow. Brummy for you.
I have almost purchased a pre-owned Range Rover several times, until I was quoted the price of an extended warranty which ran 25%-40% the price of the vehicle. That's scary.
This guy must have sold a kidney keep the car up to scratch.
Um I've had 11 so far ....
nick blake You’ve got it bad!! 👍
A great video about Range Rover ownership/addition! You either get it and you're prepared to put up with 13.4mpg (eek!) or you're don't. But don't knock it as they are great vehicles. Try one with the diesel V8 - a flyer and 25 mpg. That sounds just the ticket to me.
Thanks! I agree. The TDV8 is the pick of the bunch if you live in England. Plenty of power and sensible fuel economy
I would love a range rover.
Can't afford one 😒
One day you will.
Last better body design, the new ones looks like fords..
I got a 2012 L322 with the 4.4Tdv8 and i absolutely love it. Of course it has had it's faults but I am in love with it. Having the IID Tool diagnostics is making ownership a breeze. Any issues can easily be diagnosed and fixed easily.
Same here, brilliant car. I have also owned the Series 1 petrol V8 3•5, P38 petrol V8 4•6.
Regular servicing is key to trouble free motoring.
I have rangeroveritis too 😂
