Good job mcm✊️🙏
First outing in the RL back in the day 👍
Top video with choice location mate. Love the view with that great tent in the picture.....Just brilliant 😃👍🇦🇺
Top camp this one mate - very relaxing. ATB
Nice one Chris, great video as always and agree with the others comments inspiring us to get off our arse and get out there... I always take ear plugs now when I camp, regardless of the weather, my mate sounds like a chainsaw when he snores so I've learnt the hard way. Looking forward to the next wild camp!
+M0nkeys Paw thanks for watching as always mate. I'm gonna invest in some ear plugs ASAP. I was back in work in Liverpool the next day so needed to hear my alarm....... ATB mate 🍺
Great tents it's the same as mine, get some good long pegs for the really strong windy nights.
Thanks for sharing Atb Mark
+Markwildcamp thanks Mark - It was only its second outing! Love it! Quite flappy though...... I'll have a try of some longer pegs. Thanks for watching mate. ATB
Once again mate brilliant love seeing the views and fill it with plenty of information, need to take a leaf out of your book and just go for it no messing about, looked like a rough night but better than sitting at home look forward to the next one all the best James 👍🏻
James Brydon thanks James, it was a great adventure! Just get out and take the plunge. Thanks for watching mate. ATB 🍺👍
Great video chris. That area around the cat and fiddle road is always exposed at the best of times. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Billy, first time I’ve been there. Cracking little spot ! 👍 ATB
Very new to this 'scene', been watching on an 'amazon TV stick' .......finally signed-up for a youtube channel last Friday, yours was one of the 1st channels I watched, appreciate the effort and time you put in..................smart tent choice, gone for a cheaper Vango Banshee200 to 'test' the water so to speak, always enjoy your work and the 'synical sense of humour', cheers Stu.
+Stu Bloggs cheers Stu - ill be sure to check out your channel mate. Vango Banshee is a great tent - brilliant choice. Walshy has just used his for the first time a few weeks ago (Pendle vid)
Thanks for watching mate. ATB
Camped here last night and have just got home. Similar conditions but zero visibility unfortunately. Love the channel and the videos. Thanks 😊
Cracking mate, hope you had a good one. ATB, Chris
Good job The view from INSIDE the tent is what I want to see and not many provide that
Thanks mate, like to give the feel and perspective of what it's like to be there 👍
Breadcakes, this from Hull. Great video as ever pal, keep it up.
Cheers Darren - we need an entire phrase book getting produced here 🤣
Good views there, nice tent would like one but the heavy price tag puts me of,cheers Yorkie
+Yorkie wild camper thanks, thought I'd go mad and treat myself ! Thanks for watching !
Hahaha, sorry bro but I recognise your experience. My first 7 days in the Soulo was stormy and rainy. From the looks of it I had quite a bit more wind than what you are experiencing here. First night I was so insanely tired but just couldn't sleep because of the wind and noise. Went up and to check that the lines were all secured and good, they always are! Never slackened or anything. Second night I had put some rubber bands and tape on the lite zipper handles to stop them jingly janglin like a christmas sled. This is a good trick that worked wonders! I also put in some foam earplugs and after that I always slept like a log in there. I've now done over 50 nights in the Soulo. The longest stay was just over three weeks. Most of that time in really heavy winds and rain. Never had a problem. I now know that the Soulo will stand for some serious weather so I sleep with confidence :) Good vid. Thanks!
Thanks mate - also top tip re the rubber bands. I'll be sure to pass that one on in our FB group 👍
Great video and good message for those who need to start, does not need to cost a fortune, just get out there.
Cheers Dawn! Yep, key thing is just to get out of the front door into the wilds 😎👍
@@MCMOutdoors I have just bought my second Hilleberg, I have an Anjan for the summer and just bought the Soulo for my winter camping as I need a bombproof one for where i camp on Dartmoor and Brecon. I camp for a living now so hence need solid kit that will last, otherwise happy to camp in Vango Mirage's (my favourite) and cook on a trangia or a jetboil.
Camping for a living! Yes please..... Lucky you 😎 thanks for the comment 👍
Hi Chris. I went back and looked for this video, following your recent tales from the tent when you talked about your scary experience. I assume this was the camp you were referring to. Must have really freaked you out as you didn’t go into specifics at the time, just a brief voice over at 2.40am saying how scary it was outside the tent😊
It certainly was! 😳🏕️
Enjoyed this, the shower clouds split by the sun looked ace. Great video Chris ATB 👍
Cheers Dave, first camp in my Soulo if I remember. Memorable one 👍
MCM Outdoors Just watching You and Walshy climbing Jack’s Rake in the rain👍😁
I love my Soulo 😍
Good bit of kit 👍
Great vid mate 👌🏼 was this the one where you saw that figure?
It was mate!
For me, the HB Soulo is by far the best all around year 1er tent on the market. Especially in very high wind conditions. I bought 4 of it in the last 11 years. Only in deep very could Winter it could become a bit narrow for my taste ( with a fat -30 C Sleepingbag the Nammatj 2 or Jannu is the better choice) !
It's a solid tent, my favourite so far. Cheers 🍺
The unplanned ones are always good Chris..Noticed you are using the supplied DAC pegs on the Guy lines.. 90 times out of 100 . They will do the job. However for elevated pitches in possible high winds. The Delta ground anchors are mustard.
and peace of mind if it gets mental during the night.. Stay safe Bro. Very enjoyable viewing as always ..
Thanks man - cheers for the heads up re the pegs! ATB
@@MCMOutdoors Your very welcome Bro..
Looks like Shutlingsloe peak in the background mate.
Would make a good walk and wild camp in Macc forest
+Neil O'Hara alright Neil. Cheers for the info ! It looks tempting mate
MCM Outdoor Show no problem fella. Fellow Scouser Immigrated to Macc area couple years back love being so close to peak. Been into forest with my 6yr old with hammocks and twig stove a couple of times for a day camp and found a nice spot, she loves it. Need to do a proper rec and find an out the way spot but the forest is massive and in parts spooky as fcuk! Keep them adventures coming
Certainly is Shutlingsloe, been up many times, not as good for wild camping as Shining Tor though, but lovely nonetheless.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Liked and subbed, I have the Soulo too.
+Dougie thanks mate. Love it so far, what do you make of yours ?
MCM Outdoor Show Still not had a chance to try it. I've been using my Keron 3 for ages. I'll maybe do the WHW or Coast to Coast with it soon. If you're ever up here look me up mate. 🍻 ⛺️
Dougie Will do mate, thanks again for the sub 👍
MCM Outdoor Show Any time.
No ear plugs? Go by the local pharmacy and ask for it.. makes alot of a differense when the tent is being noisy :)
+Denstoradiskmaskinen I'll defo get some 👍
Earplugs and sleeping mask is what the little pockets in the sleeping bags are for.
Cool video I’m selling my Soulo but now having second thoughts ☺️
Cheers....... it’s a cracking tent isn’t it !
15:17 as a chippy u'l pardon the pun, but you hit the nail on the head ✊
Cheers Kev 👍
Enjoyable video dropped you a sub. Came across your video as want to get hilleberg soulo or atko just trying to make my mind up. Atb cheers Karl
+Dead Fall Bushcraft thanks mate. If you can stretch to the Soulo I'd recommend based on sit up room. Amazing tent mate.
Just a wild guess, but could the hills in the distant background be "The Roaches " near to Leek in Staffs.?
+gordon monaghan possibly Gordon, I've no idea to be honest; other than they look good!
cracking trip lad
+kamucho thanks mate. Didn't get much sleep !
MCM Outdoor Show never take ear plugs??
+kamucho may have to next time !
Seems like a good idea. I'll deffo be taking them
Did you goto Peak Views cafe afterwards for a breakfast? It is the best breakfast in the Peaks, along woth the Royal lion ( I think in Hope)
I didn’t go mate; but thanks for the info ! Next time I’m in the area I’ll check out your recommendation 👍⛰ ATB
Alright mate. Fantastic video.. really enjoyed listening to your views on getting out there and sampling the great outdoors. Can i ask for some advise regarding the hilleberg soulo.. in your opinion, do you think the tent is worth paying around £600 for? Im after a good tent, but unsure about coughing up this sort of money. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers Gary
Alright Gary.... Thanks mate. Yes I'd say so..... As long as you will get proper use out of it. I've been camping etc since age of 14 and have lost count of the amount of tents I've had. I can honestly say that the quality and strength of the Hilleberg is in a league of its own..... Take the plunge 👍
The old tent took a battering from the wind here buddy!!! And as if the random petrol station didnt have a selection of award winning craft beers....what is the world coming to mate
It was a travesty mate. Had to drink something common as muck 😂 was impressed with the tent apart from the noise it made.
It’s rock solid mate. You can double pole it too - which would make it withstand a hurricane !
I was waiting to be scared.Wrong Shining Tor video?
I didn't say I filmed the experience...... 👍
It's ironic, that you were camping in what is probably acknowledged as one of the best tents resilient to wind resistance, and still found the experience sleep disturbing. I understand your reaction however.Inside a tent, in such conditions, is like sleeping in an amplified sound box. It is more reassuring camping out in a light to moderate rain (with little wind) than in the conditions that prevailed that night. But, we put such nights down to experience, and don't let it put us off planning our next excursion. (I hope)
+gordon monaghan takes a lot more than wind to put me off ! Thanks for watching.
Is the normal Hileberg Soulo strong enough for the UK or do I need black or red label?.
Hi mate, the normal Soulo is the "red label" and is more than sufficient for the majority of UK conditions. The black label has stronger fabric and slightly thicker poles - so can handle even more extreme weather but with a weight penalty over the red label. Hope this helps 👍
@@MCMOutdoors Thats brilliant mate thanks for the help you're the best.
