I have travelled to beautiful destinations all over the UK whenever we have visited with my UK husband and love Yorkshire but I can honestly say that wherever we have travelled the people have been kind and just so helpful to a visitor if you ask for advice or assistance. My husband (he is nearly 80) was cleaning up his family plot at the cemetery during our visit last year and went back a couple of days later to finish the job and a local had organised a crew to finish cleaning the area up. Beautiful country and people with a degree of civility that is memorable.
So glad you made the best out of you recent visit to the UK Joel. Your support for our countries is second to none and your trip here is well deserved.
I spent many week-ends camping in the peak district, especially up near Edale, Baslow, the Roaches etc..I`m 73 now and like my comforts. back in 1949 my Dad was a joint founder member of the Oread Mountaineering club based in Derbyshire and I have a photo of him and my Mum on that very same station back then. The club is still going strong and they are up in Chatsworth Park this week-end celebrating 75 years of being in existence.
The best thing about you is the way you just get out there, all on your own and explore. This is the best way to see the UK, just head anywhere and get out there. There is beauty wherever you go, you just have to find it…..just like this. 👍🏼
As a British lady living in England who has seen a lot of the world I am so proud of the British Isles. I would want to live any where else. Our jobs sent as working and living abroad half my life. Always I craved home.
The English countryside is indeed very beautiful, I lived in Northamptonshire for 44 years and in the summers you got what I describe as 5 colours, the yellow sun, blue sky, puffy white clouds, green landscape and lovely golden cornfields everywhere most summer days. We moved to Ireland, we do get nice days, but generally summers here are 2 colours, more grey skys and green landscape. I miss English summers. 🏴
The Peak District mountains are primarily the reason why Manchester gets so much rain. It accumulates there and then proceeds to dump on us. So it's not our fault!
Actually Manchester has only average rainfall. At least eleven other British cities have higher rainfall. Brighton is annually just as wet. and don't mention Ireland or S!cotland. And the summers in Manchester are great
@@vonvard Yes, a bad summer nationwlde in fact overall, cooler and wetter. The link between Manchester and rain began in the old music halls when entertainers out of season visit up north in November, December, January when it always appears to be drizzle and cold! Hence the reputation grows about rainy Manchester but many places in Britain have much higher rainfall!
The thing about the English countryside, is that it’s all so very old. The houses are often 100’s of years old. And some parts rarely change at all. So most places will look the same as they did during ww1 and before.
I went to that pub when I was 15 with two friends. It was February and we caught the bus up from London. Then we walked around the Peak District. We hiked from Castleton, over Mam Tor, and down into Edale. It was pouring with rain and we were soaked. The locals let us sit by the fire and steam dry! Then, when the rain passed, we carried on to Snake Pass and stayed at the hostel. The next day, the snow came. By the time we got to the highest point of Snake Pass, the snow was thick. There were no cars, but there was a BBC news van filming the weather for the news. They made these three freezing-cold kids a cup of tea. It was an amazing trip.
I'm from Sheffield and I frequently travel to Manchester, so I get to enjoy this a lot and regularly get out there for walks myself. Ever so lucky to have this so close.
It's the real England, well away from all the political fighting, people whinging and carrying on. Once you're out immersed in it the daily grind and drama seems a world away. ❤
I love the Peak District. I go every year for a week because it’s my neck of the woods not far from where I was born. Next time go to Buxton, Ashford in the water, nice pub in Chelmorton the church arms. So many things to see and do in the peak district.

So heartening to have a young American guy enjoying our countryside. I live on the edge of the Peak District and worked in Manchester. I went to University of York, so look forward to your next blog. Enjoy the rest of your stay!
We love that watching your videos means that you can come here and visit. You are so welcome here. Its brilliant to watch you catching the trains here and getting out into the countryside and enjoying the hikes and pubs. I'm glad the weather is holding out for you. Have a great time❤
Re the weather, Joel needs to keep reminding himself that Paris is on the same 49th parallel that separates the USA from Canada, which puts the Peak District somewhere in southern Labrador! That Gulf Stream works bloody hard to keep us warm ...
Lovely stuff. They named it the Peak District not after the 'peaks' in the landscape, but after a tribe who lived there in the Anglo-Saxon period called the Pecsaetan. A glorious place. Pronounced Peckseetan.
Joel, you've found my favourite place. I have walked, cycled, car'd, train'd and everything in that very area you are in. Edale's pub is simply the best pub ever. Hikers are welcomed, along with dogs...and the food is fabulous. I'll be up there very soon in the near future. Well done my friend. Stay clear of London. You have found paradise on Earth.
I have lived both abroad and in the UK and travelled widely. But there is no doubt that both England and France probably have the best 'countryside landscapes' in the world.
We would spend pretty much every weekend in the Peak District when I was a kid, it's stunningly beautiful wherever you go, and on the edge of several major cities, so easy to access by car, train, bus and bike. Heavenly views over the dales, with a view almost anywhere you look. Glad you enjoyed!

Welcome back to my neck of the woods, Joel. Manchester is a great city and the Peak District is so beautiful. I think you'll love York too, a very historic city.
I'm really glad you enjoyed this. You were lucky with the weather. I was born on the edge of the Peak District. I believe a 'hope' is a valley with a flat bottom, surrounded by hills. Bakewell is in the Peak District, so, although 'Bakewell Tarts' are sold all over the country, the best ones will come from the area. There were tremendous people's battles - including a Mass Trespass - back in the thirties, to obtain the right to walk over much over the Peak District, and indeed nature in general. The ancient laws concerning 'Rights of Way' have helped a lot.
Hopefully one day he can view Englands highest pub out there followed by a walk through Dovedale and the 'steps across the river there', we are right there is so much in England. It would take him a lifetime - don't think he has done Stratford area either??
Edale is in the Vale of Edale, not the Hope Valley. That's the next valley over, and gets it's name from the village of Hope. I know, because I live around there...

My husband (he is nearly 80) was cleaning up his family plot at the cemetery during our visit last year and went back a couple of days later to finish the job and a local had organised a crew to finish cleaning the area up. Beautiful country and people with a degree of civility that is memorable.
Ive lived in the Peak District all my life . Hike as much as I can . Still discovering new places here . I adore the Peak District
It’s nice to see my home country through fresh eyes. It makes me appreciate somethings I take for granted too often.
So it's not our fault!
no its just the peak district crying about manchester and its fine people
@@ashpal-1 😅 that sounds better
Actually Manchester has only average rainfall. At least eleven other British cities have higher rainfall. Brighton is annually just as wet. and don't mention Ireland or S!cotland. And the summers in Manchester are great
@GrahamCahill-uj3sc this summer has been shocking but I didn't know that about Brighton et al. I think we just get a bad rep in MCR. It is wet though
Been subbed for years now and still not bored of your infectious enthusiasm for my country... keep it up son!
The Peak District is beautiful in the snow as well, glad you enjoyed it
The thing about the English countryside, is that it’s all so very old.
You know and understand England, well done brother.
I'm from Sheffield and I frequently travel to Manchester, so I get to enjoy this a lot and regularly get out there for walks myself. Ever so lucky to have this so close.
What a lovely young man you have become JP. So happy you like my beloved country.
I hope your so proud of our countryside as we are,
It's the real England, well away from all the political fighting, people whinging and carrying on. Once you're out immersed in it the daily grind and drama seems a world away. ❤
What is it to be proud about?
It warms my heart that you love our country so much…great videos💕
I love the Peak District. I go every year for a week because it’s my neck of the woods not far from where I was born. Next time go to Buxton, Ashford in the water, nice pub in Chelmorton the church arms. So many things to see and do in the peak district.
Yes! Magical English Countryside! It never ceases to amaze me, straight out of a fairytale.
I’m from Manchester, absolutely love it here, but watching these videos just shows me how much I take what I have for granted. The walks the city, the views everything! Welcome to Manchester my guy! Hope you enjoyed it!! 🩵🫶
I live on the Manchester edge of the Peak District and you did a great job of showing it at it's best, so nice to see an American going off the well trod tourist trail.
He does a great job. Saddleworth here.
You are an amazing young man, shame your not English as you portray our country so so well love you ,keep coming back 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Not all English People spell You're wrong. We're lazy and can't be bothered to get our National Language correct. your and you're sound the same but spelling and meaning is very different. I'm sorry my fellow English are so lazy
You should go to Eyam it’s nearby and is known as the plague village. It’s where the villagers shut themself off from the outside world. They have a smallish museum too explaining things.
I’m so glad that you love our England ❤
Your joy on the hike is infectious. Love the English countryside ❤
Lovely stuff. They named it the Peak District not after the 'peaks' in the landscape, but after a tribe who lived there in the Anglo-Saxon period called the Pecsaetan. A glorious place. Pronounced Peckseetan.
I read that as Pekistan
@markylon Ha, you idiot 🤣
@@markylonlol, you idiot 😂

The best way to see the British Countryside is on foot. Combine that with a British Country pub, and it's a match made in heaven. Great video👍
You make nice videos about the U.K., so in my view, you deserve to visit and enjoy our countryside on us.
Exactly 💯
Joel, you've found my favourite place. I have walked, cycled, car'd, train'd and everything in that very area you are in. Edale's pub is simply the best pub ever. Hikers are welcomed, along with dogs...and the food is fabulous.
I'll be up there very soon in the near future. Well done my friend. Stay clear of London. You have found paradise on Earth.
Looks like you got a lovely day for it too. Very nice.
I’m English and this video has seriously made me homesick. It was the sheep baaing next to the stone walls, then off to the pub for lunch.
I have lived both abroad and in the UK and travelled widely. But there is no doubt that both England and France probably have the best 'countryside landscapes' in the world.
Germany too.
I agree
We would spend pretty much every weekend in the Peak District when I was a kid, it's stunningly beautiful wherever you go, and on the edge of several major cities, so easy to access by car, train, bus and bike. Heavenly views over the dales, with a view almost anywhere you look. Glad you enjoyed!
Hi Joel ,from South Yorkshire, welcome to our Green Fields of England.
Love to Yorkshire from a kentish man. Yorkshire Dale's and moors are stunning 😍
Lovely video Joel. I live in Wales and haven't been abroad on holiday for nearly 20 years. The UK is so beautiful, interesting and historic, there's nowhere finer.
Living your best life at the best time to be doing it, what a treasure trove of memories you are building, great videos.
This video made me very emotional watching it Joel. With all the upset that is going on in our country at the moment, you’ve made me remember how beautiful our country really is. Seeing all those wonderful views has made me determined to have time off to visit our glorious countryside again. I’m so pleased you enjoyed seeing it all. Thanks Joel. Your commentary on your videos are so good…I think you’ve found your vocation! 😉🌟
I have lived in the Peak District for nine years surrounded by beautiful countryside and moorland, and every time I step outside I still feel like I'm on holiday. So pleased you've had good weather and enjoy the rest of your vacation. 😁
Glad you made it to these Islands, Dude, and very pleased that you're enjoying it. Thanks for all your kind words. Happy travels! :-)
Oh boy! St here with tears in my eyes after seeing approx 3minutes of your video! You do them so well, your presentation superb, gentle voice yet with an interest within it, very professional with a hint of fun too. I so enjoy these and the tears are to appreciate what we have, what we take for granted but also what I have missed in my life ! You enjoy because there will come a day many years from now for you that you will only hav the memories to live on so keep piling them up and keeping your recordings! This country has so much to offer, you are just at the tip of an enormous iceberg, its is beautiful to see you enjoying it, oh and of course the food!
I grew-up hiking that trail as a kid. One of my favourite places in the world. Edale and the Peak District is so beautiful. Glad you enjoyed it.
Was that Kinder? I've done it both from Jacob's ladder and the reservoir once but didn't recognise the precise spot. Looks like a great patch of bilberry on the way up too!
@@DraftingandCrafting Yeah, Kinder Scout. Like another planet at the top. He was at the start of the trail that leads to the top. Starts gentle then gets pretty steep towards the end.
Your perfect sun-drenched torso enhanced the beautiful scenery Joel. You should do it more often.
Creepy 😮
The Mass Trespass took place on Kinder Scout.
Hopefully one day he can view Englands highest pub out there followed by a walk through Dovedale and the 'steps across the river there', we are right there is so much in England. It would take him a lifetime - don't think he has done Stratford area either??
@@deniseroney Ahem ... England's (& Britain's) highest pub, at 1732 ft, is the Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales ...
Edale is in the Vale of Edale, not the Hope Valley. That's the next valley over, and gets it's name from the village of Hope. I know, because I live around there...
@@tonyf9984 Whoops sorry, maybe I meant the most isolated then? Did hesitate as I put the comment but knew someone would correct me, thank you! Loved the Ahem by the way!
Really glad you got to experience our English country side with such beautiful weather Joel.
What a lovely video Looking at the beautiful English countryside And I bet that beer tasted great my husband used to say it never touched the sides glad you enjoyed your time in uk again ❤
Living in Britain we take for granted our history and countryside but if Brits really stopped to appreciate what we have here and you do it tremendous justice with your vlogs
I love seeing the uk through your eyes - from Cornwall
Great video mate. Thanks for sharing the best parts of the UK. So nice seeing people like you enjoy and explore our country and show the best we have to visit. Thanks
